    You can really feel the attention to detail in the service.

    This was my first time staying here. The building isn’t new, so it does show its age, but you can see thoughtful attention to detail throughout. The way the dashi was used and the recipes reflected the care of the people who made them, and everything was truly delicious.

    This Accommodation is a soothing retreat in every way.

    This is a wonderful Ryokan that moves me every time I visit. The Room, baths, cuisine, the staff’s smiles, and the overall atmosphere throughout the property are all exceptional, and time seems to slow down. Both the fresh enthusiasm of the younger staff and the understated attentiveness of the experienced staff naturally bring a smile. The welcome service includes soft drinks as well as wine—and that wine is surprisingly delicious. Breakfast also comes with a choice of drinks; the 100% peach juice is pure peach—peach! peach! peach!—and absolutely worth trying at least once. And the cuisine is outstanding. Though the chef is young, everything—from seasonal menus and presentation to masterful use of dashi—is superb. The creativity is remarkable, and the expressive artistry of each dish (including the tableware) is truly next level. The view from the open-air bath in our Room—sunlit green trees against a blue sky—was beautiful, and soaking in an open-air bath during a sudden downpour was an experience with its own special charm. This is a lovely kappo-style Ryokan that soothes me every time I stay. Having visited in spring and summer, I would love to return in autumn next time.

    Your First Visit to Isawa Onsen

    This Accommodation was outstanding in every way—Onsen, cuisine, Room, and hospitality. It was an extremely hot day and we arrived early, but the staff noticed us right away, guided our car, and welcomed us at the entrance. They also showed us to our Room immediately, which was reassuring as I was traveling with my elderly mother. They had prepared grab bars and a step stool for the bath in our Room in advance—truly attentive hospitality. That day there was the Fuefuki River Isawa cormorant fishing event and fireworks, so they kindly started dinner earlier for us. Thanks to that, we could enjoy a relaxed, exquisite kaiseki meal without rushing. We even had the pleasure of meeting the head chef; the medicinal broth warmed both body and soul. Everything was wonderful—the flavors and tableware were exactly to our taste. Just one thing: it was disappointing that my mother, who stayed behind instead of going to see the cormorant fishing, couldn’t watch the night baseball broadcast (BS TV) she had been looking forward to. The large public bath felt like it was reserved just for us, and we enjoyed drinks while relaxing in the lobby. A truly exceptional Accommodation. We will definitely return. Thank you very much.

    Thank you as always ...

    Thank you as always for the wonderful cuisine and service. The head chef’s dishes were beautifully presented, and you could really feel the care put into making them enjoyable not only in taste but also to the eye. Unfortunately, we were there during a typhoon, but we visited the cafe at Yamashita Farm that one of the attendants recommended. It usually has a two-hour wait, but we were able to get in after just 40 minutes. That became a great memory as well. Thank you also for the birthday gift. We’re already talking about coming back next year with our family.

    More than worth the price

    From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles. They also carried our luggage carefully. Room Service The staff member who showed us to our Room explained everything in a calm, pleasant voice—slowly, politely, and very clearly. They also encouraged us to choose a cute yukata, so we picked one and had it brought to us to wear. They thoroughly explained the drinks as well, and overall the service felt very attentive. Dinner When traveling, I usually choose a Ryokan mainly for dinner, and this was absolutely outstanding. The presentation was beautiful too, so it was enjoyable both visually and in taste. The yuba dish was exceptional. The head chef personally brought some dishes and explained them; the dashi flavor was delicious and made me want to eat it again. We were able to spend a wonderful time in a private room without worrying about others around us. Breakfast There were separate hot dishes and cold dishes, and everything was delicious. In particular, even dishes like nikujaga had an amazing dashi flavor. Bath They told us the set water temperature and said they could adjust it if it felt too cool or too hot. The default temperature was perfect for us, so we were able to relax comfortably. Amenities / Shampoo etc. The POLA shampoo and body soap felt great to use. Also, having two sets of loungewear meant we could change between morning and night, which was nice. Now that I’m 32, I find separate top-and-bottom sleepwear more comfortable than a one-piece or yukata, so I really appreciated that they provided it. This time I traveled with my best friend (a female friend), but next time I’d like to come with my family including children. At departure as well, four staff members saw us off and even checked the road so our car could leave smoothly. All of the staff felt genuinely kind—there was no sense of tension among them—and I thought this was truly a wonderful Ryokan.

    Birthday Trip

    The hospitality was so wonderful that I’m writing my first Review on IKYU. I was looking for an Accommodation for his birthday, and after a lot of 고민 on the IKYU site, we chose this one. Every dish was carefully prepared and delicious, and the open-air bath in the Room was large enough to stretch out comfortably—I ended up soaking in it many times. The vanity mirror was huge, and I was surprised that it was the best among all the Accommodations I’ve stayed at so far. It also made doing my makeup easy, which I really appreciated. The amenities were made of bamboo and felt luxurious. I only mentioned in a short note when making the Reservation that we would be visiting for a birthday, but you gave us a gift and kindly spoke to us—it became a truly memorable stay. The complimentary drinks included wine, sake, beer, and other alcoholic options as well. Compared with Accommodations that have many different types of baths, it felt more intimate; however, when there are too many baths I end up feeling rushed trying to try them all every time—so being able to relax this time was really great. I regret that we arrived late for check-in due to traffic... I’d love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

    Adults-only spaces are wonderfully relaxing!

    It was our first stay in a while. Being away made us appreciate the charm of this Accommodation all over again. The fact that there are no children here brings a real sense of peace and relaxation—something unique to this place. We truly felt the appeal of a single-story Accommodation. Since my wife has trouble with her legs, it was especially helpful. The size of the private bath was just right, and we were able to enjoy both the warmth of the Onsen and a spacious tub. There were also two baths in the Room, so we could warm up in the indoor bath first and then relax at our leisure in the hotter open-air bath. Both dinner and breakfast were served in just the right portions—delicious and easy on the body. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

    An Accommodation of Thoughtful Hospitality and Fine Cuisine

    My wife and I stayed here the night before our winery tour the next day. The building itself is not new, but it is very well maintained and doesn’t feel dated—if anything, it has a dignified charm. The cuisine was thoughtfully crafted with great care, and even the tableware was beautifully chosen. We enjoyed the food with our eyes as well as our palate. The drink list was also excellent. The wines focused mainly on Koshu from Yamanashi, and we were pleased to find Katsunuma Jozo wines listed at reasonable prices—since we planned to visit them the next day, we enjoyed a glass as a preview. As expected, Koshu pairs wonderfully with Japanese cuisine. In addition to the food, what impressed us most was the service from all staff members—it felt truly professional and well trained. By coincidence, one of the dinner staff lives very close to Katsunuma Jozo, which made for a fun connection. There happened to be an issue with the open-air bath, but the proprietress handled it with exceptional thoughtfulness; we were genuinely grateful for her considerate response. It also made us feel that her standards are shared throughout the team. Overall, this Accommodation showed care and attention in every aspect. We were only able to visit a small part of Katsunuma’s wineries this time, so we would love to stay here again on our next winery trip. (Sorry that my photos are mostly of the food—I forgot to take others.)

    I’m a repeat guest. ...

    I’m a repeat guest. After my first stay, I was impressed by the delicious cuisine and the subtle yet warm hospitality, and I’ve been returning whenever I have one of my few days off. This time again, the same room attendant as last time took care of me, and they even remembered that I’m left-handed and have ingredients I can’t eat. They thoughtfully adjusted the placement of my chopsticks and the items in the hot pot, which truly moved me. The in-room bath was wonderful, and the view was beautiful. The only minor disappointments were that the window screen in the room was torn and insects came in, and during breakfast the staff member serving dishes felt a bit rushed. No matter how many times I visit, this Ryokan always offers relaxation and memorable moments.

    Once again, we were able to relax and enjoy a leisurely stay.

    This was our first stay in several years, and we were once again very satisfied with the warm hospitality and delicious cuisine. There was a small issue with the temperature of the open-air bath, but you handled it sincerely, and we were able to spend our time very comfortably. The meal course was well put together and we were very pleased, but we did get a little hungry later in the evening, so we thought it would be nice if late-night snacks could be ordered—if possible, we would be happy if you could consider this in the future. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much for a wonderful time!

    Take a full loop—and come back again.

    Since my early adulthood, I have stayed at many Accommodations. There are plenty that truly match labels like elegant, modern and smart, or luxurious—just as the titles suggest. This Accommodation feels a little different from those descriptions. From a perspective beyond the Facility itself, it is gentle on both body and mind. Perhaps it’s because the staff’s own life experience naturally shines through, which is why I like this place—and that warmth reaches us guests as well. Even the few minor drawbacks feel endearing rather than disappointing.

    We stayed with the Maternity Plan. All the staff were friendly, the meals were delicious, and the Room was spacious, so we were able to relax. This is an Accommodation I would definitely recommend to friends who are pregnant!

    Reliable Comfort

    From the moment we parked the car—no, from the moment we stepped inside—the warm, understated smiles made us feel relaxed right away. Perhaps because we have stayed here several times, the lobby explanation was brief and we were quickly shown to our Room. The Tsuchiya pie served with tea was delicious, and the yuzu tea was refreshing as well. We couldn’t get our preferred time for a private bath Reservation, but the open-air bath in our Room was wonderful and helped us unwind. Dinner was a delight—flavors, ingredients, and tableware all enjoyable. In addition to unlimited soft drinks and wine in the lobby, there were plenty of drinks in the Room refrigerator as well, including beer and ginger ale—more than enough. We enjoyed breakfast at a leisurely pace and were able to truly relax. We will visit again. Thank you very much.

    We were completely satisfied with both the bath and the meals.

    Although it is a small Ryokan, we were able to relax and stay very comfortably. Both the private-use bath and the open-air bath in the Room had abundant Onsen water flowing continuously, kept at a comfortable temperature all night long. We could bathe freely late at night or early in the morning. The face towels and bath towels provided were also plush, pure white, and luxuriously soft—on par with a top-class city Hotel—which felt wonderful. Most noteworthy was the chef’s skill. While the menu looked like that of an ordinary Ryokan at first glance, it used carefully selected ingredients with great finesse, and both the tableware and presentation showed real taste and creativity—it was truly impressive. It wasn’t “luxurious” in an obvious way; rather, you could feel how much care went into making each dish enjoyable for both the eyes and the palate. One plate in particular—sashimi arranged on seasonal bamboo shoots shaped like a boat—was full of seasonal character and genuinely delicious. We would love to visit again in a different season.

    Anniversary

    I stayed here to celebrate a birthday. The service, meals, and Onsen were all very satisfying. I have also stayed at the main building of Itoyanagi before, and the food is truly delicious. This annex is quiet and perfect for adults to relax peacefully. Thank you for the surprise gift as well! I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Memorable and Delicious Meals

    It was my first time staying here. The detached Room was spacious and comfortable, with two small baths that allowed us to soak as many times as we liked. The meals were absolutely delicious, so much so that even my father, who usually sticks to a strict diet, ended up eating more than he intended because it was just too good. I was surprised by the elderly gentleman in a top hat managing the parking lot, but his gentle demeanor and kindness left a great impression. He even saw us off for quite some time when we left, which deeply moved me. I would love to visit again!

    We visited as a fami...

    We visited as a family to relax and unwind during the New Year holidays. This was our second stay, as we also visited after the New Year last year. The open-air bath had the perfect water temperature, with soft and soothing water that allowed us to soak at our leisure. It was so relaxing! The meals were just the right portion size, warm, comforting, and gentle on our stomachs after the holiday season—absolutely delicious. They even incorporated medicinal cuisine into the menu. We returned because of how much we enjoyed the food last time. The service was impeccable; everything was well-attended without feeling rushed, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant stay. However, moving from our detached room to the main building felt very cold—perhaps providing some kind of warm outerwear would be helpful? Also, slightly larger blankets might be nice. We look forward to visiting again!

    A wonderful accommodation that warms your heart.

    It was a wonderful accommodation. We received a call before our stay and were provided with shuttle service from the station. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed at the entrance and promptly guided to our room. Detailed information was provided in the room. All drinks in the lobby, as well as those in the room's refrigerator, were complimentary. The room was spacious, and we stayed in "Houou," which had two baths—an indoor bath and an open-air bath—both with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. The private garden was large, offering a serene view from the room that added to our relaxation. Since it was year-end, we enjoyed clear skies filled with countless stars! Meals were served in a semi-private dining area. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious, with just the right portion sizes—absolutely satisfying! We also added a half-and-half of horse sashimi and horse liver sashimi on impulse, which turned out to be an excellent choice—it was exquisite! The staff members were very polite and kind, making our stay extremely pleasant. We are so glad to have found such an amazing accommodation at Isawa Onsen! It’s within walking distance of the station and close to wineries as well. Next time, we’d love to enjoy a multiple night stay!

    It was a very good accommodation.

    The room, named "Phoenix," was beautiful, and the bath was lovely. Four of us stayed—two used beds, and two used futons. The room was spacious, and the private rock bath in the room was exceptional with perfect water temperature. The entire accommodation was spotless, and the garden visible from the lounge featured stunning Christmas illuminations. The room also had a very large private garden. The lounge in the lobby offered a variety of drinks, which we enjoyed multiple times. Every meal was delicious; even my parents, who usually don't eat much, finished everything on their plates. Breakfast was also excellent. It truly was a perfect accommodation in every way. We look forward to visiting again with our family next time!

    A truly unique and extraordinary space

    This was our second stay. This time, we stayed in the "Houou" accommodation. Last year, we were welcomed with tea and castella upon arrival, but this time we enjoyed mochi pie as a different treat. The attention to detail is truly appreciated. The room is not brand new, but the wallpaper and tatami were clean, and everything was well-maintained. The private garden was also beautifully cared for. On weekdays, the large public bath can be used privately. The room also had an open-air bath and an indoor bath, allowing us to fully enjoy a relaxing bathing experience. Dinner was absolutely satisfying; every dish made excellent use of seasonal ingredients with delicious flavors and beautiful presentation. For us, this trip is an annual indulgence to experience something extraordinary once a year. Our children are growing up quickly, so we're unsure how many more trips we'll have as a family of four, but next year we'd love to visit during peach season again! We look forward to staying here once more at that time!

    An Extraordinary Space

    Despite arriving close to dinner time, we were warmly welcomed in the heat, and the check-in process was handled calmly in our Room without any rush, which was very helpful. Dinner was a celebration of my mother's 88th birthday, and we were delighted with surprises like red rice prepared for the occasion. We enjoyed fresh seasonal ingredients and unique touches such as grilling beef tongue on a crystal plate, which made my mother very happy. The Room was spacious and relaxing, and I could enjoy the open-air bath without worrying about others around me. The soft water felt incredibly pleasant. Our one-night stay felt too short to fully experience everything, but thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff members, both my mother and I left feeling deeply grateful. At departure, we were thoughtfully given water for hydration due to the heat and sent off with bows and waves until we disappeared from view in our car's rearview mirror. Watching this made me determined to return again someday! Thank you so much for taking care of us during our stay. Next time, I hope to enjoy a more leisurely visit with a Multiple Night Stay!

    Always delicious, no matter when you visit.

    I have stayed at this accommodation several times across different seasons. No matter when I visit, the delicious seasonal offerings always satisfy both body and mind. This time as well, I was pleased with the thoughtfully crafted menu featuring enjoyable presentations. The maisonette room is spacious and comfortable, but I was slightly concerned about a musty smell in the downstairs room.

    We had a great time.

    I arrived earlier than the check-in time and waited in the lobby, where every staff member greeted me warmly. Each dish was meticulously prepared, with tableware perfectly matching the cuisine, making it a feast for the eyes as well. The salt-grilled sweetfish, dobin-mushi, crystal grill, and dessert—a unique experience of pumpkin pudding with sudachi—were all delightful. Above all, the staff's detailed explanations and attentive service were incredibly comforting. I was especially touched when they waved goodbye until I was out of sight. I would love to stay here again when visiting Yamanashi!

    Third Stay

    The rules for accommodation have slightly changed this time. On weekdays, the public bath has become a private bath, allowing guests to reserve the former men's and women's baths by time for private use. It's a very good system. Rooms with open-air baths are popular, but those without them have large indoor baths that are equally satisfying. If you stay, it's recommended to try both.

Despite our significantly delayed arrival, we were deeply moved by the staff member waiting at the entrance to guide us. The open-air bath in the room offered a great sense of openness, allowing us to fully enjoy both soaking and foot bathing. Additionally, the indoor bath was beautifully maintained and featured natural hot spring water flowing directly from its source—a highly commendable point. Dinner showcased impressive visual presentation and creative touches; however, the flavors themselves did not leave a particularly strong impression. The term "premium" might set expectations too high—approaching it with moderate anticipation may be more appropriate. That said, the carefully crafted ambiance provided a delightful sense of escape that enhanced our travel experience. While renovations were evident throughout the building, certain areas like the simplistic hallway design felt slightly underwhelming. A bit more attention to detail in these aspects could further elevate impressions. Every staff member greeted us warmly and attentively during our stay, demonstrating exceptional hospitality. In today's challenging times of labor shortages, assembling such capable personnel reflects commendable management efforts.     The Onsen is disappointing.

    Due to difficulty in making a reservation in Hakone, we ventured to Yamanashi, known as the wine sanctuary. Unfortunately, the onsen in our room had a strong chlorine smell, which made us hesitant about revisiting. My wife felt unwell because of it. The room itself was old but clean and pleasant. The meals were average—neither good nor bad. Considering the price, our satisfaction was low. It would be great if the onsen could be improved.

    Excellent

    We visited for my husband's birthday and it became a wonderful memory. The separate Room was spacious, with two open-air baths inside, allowing us to enjoy a very luxurious feeling. The meals were also excellent. Dinner was impressive with its presentation, dishes, and taste all being superb. Each dish had great style. Breakfast was also exquisite, and I ended up eating too much. The female Room attendant was very pleasant and added flowers for the birthday celebration. The other staff members were also kind and made us feel comfortable. It is truly a wonderful Property. Thank you very much.
