Indulge in the luxury of doing nothing
We visited as a couple to relax and enjoy the Onsen at a leisurely pace. It’s less than a 10-minute walk from the station to the Accommodation. You can request pick-up, but we chose to walk and soak in the atmosphere. The Room was spacious enough for two, and you can enjoy views including the sea through the large window. The in-room Onsen bath was more than sufficient, but we also reserved a private bath so we could have a large Onsen all to ourselves. It happened to be firefly-viewing season, so we enjoyed it with Shuttle Service included. The meals were incredibly delicious—an extensive menu centered on seafood, vegetables, and mountain produce. The sashimi was outstanding, and breakfast deserves special mention: miso soup made with broth from the spiny lobster shells from dinner and black rice were exceptional. This is a small Accommodation with attentive staff—perfect for enjoying the Onsen, nearby walks, and great food. We had a truly luxurious one-night stay. P.S. For those considering staying: due to structural reasons, loud noises in neighboring Rooms can be heard, and any loud noise you make will likely carry as well. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing stay in a quiet environment away from tourist areas with few people around.

Both the large public bath and the in-room bath were great.
Both the Shuttle Service from the station and the hospitality were courteous and excellent. The large public bath was spacious, and the open-air bath with an ocean view can be reserved for private use, offering a wonderful sense of openness. The open-air bath in the Room was also very relaxing, and I used it many times. I was able to unwind and take my time.

We had a relaxing stay.
A small, calm Accommodation. Thank you to all the staff for your thoughtful care from arrival to departure. With late check-out and a private open-air bath in the Room, I was able to relax in wonderful hot-spring water. The Room had a Nespresso machine, ReFa amenities, and Yayoi-series toiletries—such a nice touch. The meals were also excellent—rather than the usual meat or tempura, they focused on fish and vegetables. The signature kinmedai (splendid alfonsino) ochazuke was delicious! The portions were more than enough. As others have mentioned… if you’re driving, it’s fine as long as you take it slow or make a U-turn when needed. It is indeed close to private homes; if you prioritize scenery, you might find that unpleasant since they are within view. It didn’t feel like anyone could peek into the baths, though. Noise didn’t bother me. If you leave the window open, you might hear conversations from other Rooms—but bathing early in the morning while listening to the waves and birdsong was amazing. I deducted points for the Facility due to accessibility and bedding. Even with luggage, all movement is via stairs; getting to the private bath would be difficult unless your legs are strong—I wouldn’t be able to bring my elderly parents here. Also, there were no handrails in either the private bath or the in-Room bath, and given how slippery it can feel with this type of spring water, it was a bit scary. Most of all, the futon bedding was too uncomfortable. For this price point and Accommodation class, a “rice-cracker-thin futon” isn’t acceptable. Just one thin mattress with only a sheet—really? There were extra mattresses available, so I added one myself. It said Tempur bedding was used, but it seems that not all Japanese-style Rooms have it—and mine apparently wasn’t one of them. I wish more attention were paid to bedding quality next time. If I stay again I’d prefer in-room dining—but I’ll choose a bed instead of futons.”

I would like to say a word to the head chef as I wish to visit again.
Stayed for two nights starting from New Year's Eve. The renovated Room was comfortable, the staff were all kind, and the self-service coffee in the lounge was delicious, making for a very satisfying stay. Although the old public bath retained some of its age, it could be reserved privately, and I enjoyed a relaxing soak in the open-air bath early in the morning when it seemed less crowded. Thank you also for the IKYU Diamond Member benefits and New Year's tea gift. I would love to visit again but have one suggestion for the head chef. Honestly, we were a bit disappointed with the meals. Especially on New Year's Eve dinner—the appetizer felt like pre-made blocks of pork or chicken rillettes simply sliced; none of us three touched it much. The herring soba served as Toshikoshi Soba had a piece of herring that tasted like preserved food and overly salty soy-based broth; we stopped after one bite each. I asked our attendant to let the head chef taste this dish. The next morning's breakfast looked stunning with Osechi dishes beautifully arranged in brand-new tableware—I even took photos with my phone—but unfortunately, inside was Kobako crab that lacked flavor or aroma; its meat was dry and unappetizing—again left untouched by everyone after one bite each. I wonder if this Kobako crab had been tasted by your head chef? During dinner on New Year’s Eve, I asked our attendant if "the head chef is off today." Rather than focusing on visual grandeur or quantity of dishes—or using new tableware—I hope future meals reflect dishes that meet your head chef's standards of satisfaction.

Thanks to you, I had a relaxing stay.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and two yukatas were provided, making our stay pleasant. The room offered a view of the ocean and had a luxurious hinoki bath, allowing us to relax at our own pace. We also thoroughly enjoyed the private open-air bath. Meals were served in the room, letting us unwind completely. However, we found one of the dishes not quite to our taste and rated it as average. The narrow roads made us a bit nervous, but overall it is an excellent Ryokan. Thank you for your hospitality!

The meals are satisfying.
The food was delicious. I have visited accommodations with rooms featuring open-air baths many times, but the open-air bath here was too hot to enjoy a relaxing soak. Even my husband, who likes hotter water, found it too hot to stay in comfortably, which was disappointing.

Onsen and scenery are excellent.
This was my second visit. This time, I stayed in a room with a rock bath. The washing area was spacious, and the view was fantastic. The accommodation was well-cleaned, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. Although this location is known for its moonlit views, I intentionally stayed during the new moon and enjoyed watching shooting stars from the open-air bath in my room—truly satisfying! However, one downside was that my room on the first floor allowed noise from above to echo quite a bit. The next morning, I could hear intense cleaning and tidying sounds from upstairs, which disrupted my plan to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery while sleeping in... I chose this accommodation partly because of its 12 PM checkout policy—a great point for earning points—but considering your scheduling needs, it feels awkward to complain too much. Still, I hope there might be some improvement in this regard moving forward. That said, there's no doubt that this is an accommodation I'd love to visit again. Thank you for your hospitality!

I had a relaxing stay.
Shuttle service is available from the station, which was helpful as the steep slope can be challenging despite the short distance. The lounge offered a stunning view just as shown in the photos, and I enjoyed some traditional Japanese sweets and matcha tea before checking in. The room matched my expectations, though the counter table by the window was more spacious than I anticipated. While I initially wondered if it was meant for in-room dining, it posed no issues. As a solo traveler, the room size was perfect for me. Both from my room and the bath, I could enjoy breathtaking views of the sky and sea. There is a private house on the left side that seems close enough to see inside their rooms; however, unless you lean very close to your window to peek in deliberately, visibility is minimal both ways. Additionally, there are apartment-like buildings on the left front side and houses further right within view; however, these were explained to be vacant properties. If privacy during bathing concerns you at all, there are instructions provided about using bamboo blinds for coverage. During my morning walk past one of these apartment buildings nearby confirmed that it indeed appeared unused. The public baths have two locations with open-air baths beyond them—no reservation required—and they can be used anytime without time limits if unoccupied when checked via QR code conveniently accessible from your room! The quality of Onsen water felt amazing—leaving skin smooth yet hydrated—but note: since its natural source temperature reaches 70°C (158°F), upon arrival into-room-bathwater might feel too hot initially unless adjusted manually or cooled overnight naturally after stopping flow temporarily while opening windows slightly ensuring bugs stay out comfortably under dim lighting conditions instead! Outdoor Onsen temperatures balance themselves due-to-external air exposure allowing leisurely enjoyment even amidst occasional buzzing bees circling closely around faces during daylight hours reminding us nature surrounds us here beautifully albeit sometimes intimidatingly so! It was an accommodation that did not disappoint.
I had been wanting to visit for a long time, and my wish finally came true. Upon check-in, I was served matcha and traditional Japanese sweets, which were very delicious. The Room had a cypress bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly into it. It was clean and well-maintained, giving a sense of freshness. There were also two bath towels and two face towels provided, which was very convenient. The highlight was the large public bath and open-air bath that could be reserved for private use if available—an amazing feature! Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious. For dinner, I could choose between plain white rice or kinmedai (golden eye snapper) chazuke, showing how much this Ryokan caters to guests' preferences. The steamed egg custard with kinmedai served at breakfast was also delightful. Since check-out is at 12:00 PM, I requested a later time for folding up the futon bedding, which they kindly accommodated—I truly appreciated their flexibility. My daughter loved it as well, so we definitely want to visit again!

This is my third visit, and everything is excellent.
This was my third visit, staying alone for 1 night and 2 days. Everything was wonderful again this time. On the second day, there was heavy rain and a power outage occurred, but I was able to relax so much that it didn't bother me at all.

I had a relaxing stay.
We arrived before the check-in time and waited in the car for a while, but a staff member kindly informed us that our room was ready. During check-in, we were served matcha and traditional Japanese sweets, which helped us relax. Upon entering the Room, we were greeted by a stunning view of the ocean through large windows, making us feel immersed in nature and instantly refreshed from daily fatigue. The bath in the Room was spacious, leaving our skin smooth; we enjoyed it multiple times. The meals offered a variety of dishes, all delicious and satisfying. The sashimi featured local specialties I had never tried before, accompanied by detailed explanations as we ate. Without doing anything special other than enjoying great food and relaxing baths, I had such a peaceful stay that it recharged me for tomorrow—thank you for your hospitality! Since we stayed in Room 401, I thought wearing samue (traditional workwear) instead of yukata might have been more convenient when moving to the public bath or dining area.

Luxurious Private Onsen
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the attentive service and warm smiles of the staff serving meals in the Room. The private open-air bath was the ultimate luxury, and we look forward to visiting again.

What a waste!
The scenery, guest rooms, and meals were excellent. However, I found out on the day of my stay that the indoor bath of the open-air bath was unavailable, so prior notice would have been appreciated. Also, the water pressure in the guest room shower was quite weak, so it would be great if this could be improved. The food was outstanding. It made good use of high-quality ingredients and reflected a strong collaboration with local communities and relationships built on trust. The staff at the Ryokan were polite and provided warm hospitality. That’s why it feels like a missed opportunity regarding the private open-air bath and shower facilities...

It was a wonderful birthday.
I celebrated my birthday here. I chose Room 105, a Japanese-style room with a spacious open-air bath as I had hoped. The renovated interior was spacious, elegant, and clean, with stunning views from the wide veranda where I spent most of my stay. The private open-air bath surrounded by natural hedges was refreshing with lush greenery and the soothing sound of nearby birdsong, providing both physical and mental relaxation. The meals were exceptional; local sashimi paired perfectly with a set of local sake for tasting. The additional dishes I ordered—grilled spiny lobster, steamed abalone in sake, and Wagyu steak—were all incredibly delicious. The sparkling wine from the anniversary option complemented the meal wonderfully and added to my satisfaction. Even when full, the ochazuke (rice in tea) was light enough to enjoy effortlessly—a must-try dish! Breakfast featured miso soup made with spiny lobster broth that was rich in flavor along with various small side dishes that were easy to finish despite their variety. Thanks to the Diamond Member benefit voucher for on-site use, I could enjoy chilled canned beer without any hassle—it truly felt like a carefree experience! I look forward to visiting again during another season. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff for their excellent hospitality—I am deeply grateful!

It was a wonderful trip.
This was our last trip before childbirth. We stayed in Room 103. The room was clean, well-equipped with amenities, and the private open-air bath with natural hot spring water was amazing! The large public bath? was also fully reserved for us, so it was great to enjoy it with family. Although I didn’t mention my pregnancy when making the reservation, (probably noticed by appearance) I appreciated the thoughtful gestures like matcha service and consideration regarding the aperitif. The meals were absolutely delicious as well. After our child is born, we definitely want to stay here again. It turned out to be a wonderful trip. Thank you very much!

Highly Satisfied
I stayed at Isaribi Sawa for one night and had a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality. The surroundings of the facility are excellent, with birdsong audible even while enjoying the open-air Onsen, which helped relieve my work fatigue. The room also features a hinoki bath with 24-hour access to natural flowing Onsen water. Meals were served in-room, and I was delighted that all the seafood dishes I hoped for were included, making it a very satisfying experience. I look forward to staying here again next time!

The sashimi was satisfying, but the other dishes were not tasty. At this price, I was surprised that there was no soup. The Room's bath was good.

About the Private Open-Air Bath in the Guest Room
The water depth of the private open-air bath in the guest room is below shoulder level, making it impossible to soak up to the neck, and since it's winter, you cannot soak warmly and leisurely. I have used many similar Facilities, but this was my first encounter with such a situation. The private bath 2 is also available from 11:00 to 23:00, and since I arrived at 17:00, the times overlapped, and I couldn't use it. I was disappointed as I had the image of the place before the renovation.

This Year's Family Trip to Relax and Unwind
Every year at the end of the year, our family goes on a "thank you for your hard work" family trip. It is customary to heal our tired bodies and minds in an Onsen, so we look for a room with a private Onsen. This year, our daughter, who got married last year, was able to join us, doubling our joy. It was our first stay at Isaribi-san, but we were very satisfied. Upon arrival, we were treated to matcha, which delighted our daughter, who loves tea. The renovated room had a bathtub with the scent of cypress, and the Onsen bath was very nice. The water was excellent, but I gave it four stars because I would have liked it to be a bit deeper. Having it in the room allows you to relax and enter as many times as you like, which is nice. The amenities were also well-stocked. If I had to say one thing, it was a shame there was no shower cap. For someone like me who wants to enter multiple times, it's a necessity. The food was more than we could eat, and the creative dishes, which we don't usually have at home, were all very delicious. We left some of the hot pot, but it was nice that we could request a smaller portion of rice afterward. The breakfast was impressive with various flavors in each dish. Also, the rice cooked in an earthen pot and the Ise lobster miso soup served warm in front of us were so delicious that we overate. There was a review mentioning the narrow road to the Ryokan, and indeed, some parts are narrow and steep. Our family was fine with a light car, but there were people who came with a Serena, so it seems passable.

The Stays I had been curious about
Private 297th Stays. Shuttle service available from Izu-Okawa Station. There is no elevator, so it is recommended for those who are not confident in their legs to carefully choose a room. There are stairs and slopes to the private bath as well. Coffee and tea are self-service in the lobby. Check-out is at 12:00, so you can take your time. 〇 Room The largest room in this property is 52 square meters. You can see the sea in the distance. It seems to have been renovated about four years ago, so it is clean. One can of beer is provided in the refrigerator. Bathrobes are available. There are no samue (Japanese loungewear). There was a hand towel with the property's name in the amenity box. I didn't take it home because there were marks from laundry pins, but if it's not a complimentary item, it should be hung on the towel rack. Also, if it is a complimentary item, it should be a new one. Recently, many properties offer Imabari towels as a service. Amenities are also well-equipped, but I would like a towel warmer to be installed. 〇 Private Bath Two private baths with different atmospheres. If available, you can use them anytime without time restrictions. I was able to be the first to enter both places and enjoyed them five times, including the next morning, which was very satisfying. You can see the sea in the distance from the open-air bath. Both the washing area and the bathtub are spacious, so I prefer properties where there are times when you can enter freely without making it private from check-in to dinner and from the next morning to breakfast time. 〇 Meals Even though I was alone, the sashimi was luxurious and delicious. The number of dishes and the seasoning were satisfying, and I was full. I ordered grilled turban shell as an extra, but it didn't have my favorite liver, and the meat was cut into bite-sized pieces and skewered. I imagine it was probably frozen turban shell meat. It couldn't be helped as it was ordered after check-in, not in advance. Breakfast was not great, but the rice and lobster miso soup were delicious.

The ocean view bath is superb! I could feel the attention to detail.
This was my first time staying at this property. In conclusion, I've stayed at various ryokans and hotels, and I was extremely satisfied! The shuttle service, email communication, and on-site assistance were all very courteous. First of all, the bath was excellent, especially the ocean view room bath was the best. There were two private baths, and since they were not reservation-based, I could enter them multiple times at my desired time, which was very satisfying. The thoughtful amenities were also wonderful. The towels were fluffy (my mother, who came with me, also said the towels were nice), and the shampoos had a pleasant fragrance. The Refa hairdryer and Three skincare set were all lovely. The glasses were thin, and I was happy to choose from several types of coffee and tea, with decaf also available. The meals were abundant with Ise lobster and local fish, not too heavy, and delicious. The wide selection of wine and sake was also a delightful point! The property and the room were clean, and I am very satisfied! I definitely want to use it again.

Hmm. Not quite as expected...
The Onsen was good. As for the meals, the sashimi was good. Unfortunately, the rest did not match the price. Although it is described as irori (hearth) cuisine, two dishes were reheated rather than finished in front of us. Also, the meat was supposed to be cooked in an iron pot over the irori, but the low heat from the ogalite charcoal resulted in a disappointing taste with no smoke. If not charcoal, solid fuel would be better than formed charcoal.

I was able to relax.
I have been to Izu many times, but I didn't know about Okawa Onsen. I thought it might be a high-salinity hot spring because it's near the sea, but that wasn't the case. It was a mild and pleasant hot spring, and I could soak for a long time without getting tired, allowing me to relax. The bath attached to the room has a door, and when closed, it becomes half the size, so visiting at this time of year was perfect for enjoying both the hot spring and the view. The private bath was rarely available, and I only managed to check it out once at night. It was so spacious and luxurious that it seemed a waste for a private bath. If the weather had been good, it felt like I could have seen a sky full of stars, but in the end, I was satisfied with the open-air bath in the room. Meals were served in the room, and we were treated to a variety of delicious dishes. The sashimi was especially exquisite! As expected from the sea of Izu. I was quite full before reaching the final clay pot rice, but I made it into kinmedai dashi chazuke, which made it even more delicious. For breakfast, we could choose from different types of dried fish, and I was full from the morning. It was a very satisfying two days with multiple visits to the hot spring. Thank you for taking care of us.

Thank you for a wonderful time.
This was my first time using Isaribi. I chose the inn by considering the budget and location on the internet, assuming I would be traveling by car. The best part was relaxing in the open-air bath in the room while gazing at the sea. Above all, I appreciated being able to adjust the temperature of the open-air bath according to the situation. The lounge was also very spacious, and I could enjoy a cup of coffee. I indulged in the seafood of Izu for meals and drank too much sake. It was an onsen trip that my wife and I were both very satisfied with. Thank you to all the staff.
