The Room has a calming atmosphere in an older building, but it was tiring because many areas are not barrier-free. There are many Onsen baths, and I was satisfied. The food is not very refined, so I would like to see some improvement. I probably won’t stay again.

    Blissful Moments

We stayed as a couple with three elementary school children. The Onsen was wonderful, the meals were delicious, and the Accommodation was lovely—we had a truly blissful time. All the staff were kind and provided pleasant service. We are also interested in the other Rooms, so we would love to return if possible.

    Perfect for an anniversary trip

This was our first visit for a birthday anniversary trip. Everything was outstanding. There are only 13 Rooms, and each is a separate, unique detached villa. The interior is thoughtfully designed down to every detail, spacious and comfortable, and the garden is beautifully maintained, making it a very relaxing stay. As Onsen lovers, we barely had time to rest—we fully enjoyed all seven private baths as well as the bath in our Room. There is no large public bath, but there are six private Onsen baths that you can use freely at any time. The water is free-flowing and feels wonderful. The meals were also beautifully presented with great attention to appearance as well as ingredients—decorated with orchids, stunning to look at, and very generous in portion size. From wagyu beef to lobster and shark fin, it was an incredibly luxurious and delicious dining experience. I recommend arriving with a big appetite. The staff’s hospitality and service were excellent too. We were truly glad we chose this place for our anniversary trip—it’s an Accommodation worth visiting even if you have to fly there. I’d love to come back in another season, and I’m also curious about other Rooms, so I’m sure we’ll return. If you’re unsure where to stay, I highly recommend this place.

Onsen Indulgence Amidst the Extreme Cold Wave

Amidst the severe cold wave covering Japan, we enjoyed a relaxing time in the Onsen. The breathtaking view of Mount Yufu from the private large open-air bath was especially memorable. Next time, we plan to visit during a different season and stay in another building.

The open-air bath is extremely cold.

There is only a shared open-air bath, which was unbearable in the extreme cold. The washing area is also outdoors, and the stone path between the changing room and the bath was frozen, making it very dangerous with no precautions taken. I couldn't wash my body or hair. Additionally, the futon was too hot, but I couldn't find a switch for what seemed to be an electric blanket, which made me feel like I might catch a cold instead.

    The Best Accommodation

We stayed in two accommodations, Yukikairo and the Western-style building, for a family celebration. Yukikairo featured a beautiful room with a well-maintained courtyard, and my family loved the private open-air Onsen, using it multiple times during our stay. The Western-style building offered a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western design with lovely interiors and furniture, making it very comfortable. The spacious grounds were beautifully maintained, with lush green moss that made strolling around enjoyable. The private large open-air Onsen was impressively spacious. It included features like waterfall baths and reclining baths, which were fantastic. The bamboo forest bath and Showa-era bath each had unique designs, making the Onsen-hopping experience delightful. Each bath was equipped with towels and bath towels for convenience, allowing us to visit them freely without carrying anything. Additionally, refrigerators stocked with water, milk, and coffee milk were available at each bath for free use. In the garden area, there were hot spring eggs to enjoy; in our room we found delicious snacks; plus the refrigerator offered a variety of complimentary drinks including alcohol and juice—such thoughtful services! The meals we had been looking forward to did not disappoint—both breakfast and dinner were visually stunning while featuring local ingredients in generous portions that tasted amazing. Even elderly family members who usually eat less finished their meals happily. The attentive care from the staff who served us added to our satisfaction. Thank you also for preparing such a delicious celebratory cake as per our prior request—it was perfect! The bar on-site had an excellent atmosphere where we enjoyed delicious cocktails while relaxing—a truly luxurious experience. On departure day when being driven to the station by staff members whose conversation entertained us greatly (our whole family expressed wanting to meet them again!), it marked yet another wonderful moment concluding an exceptional stay. This accommodation is truly remarkable—I thoroughly enjoyed myself but more importantly felt overjoyed seeing my entire family have such an enjoyable time here too. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We would love to visit again!

It was an accommodation with high-quality facilities.

The accommodation is a relocated traditional Japanese house with intricate designs, making each room unique and interesting. The staff were kind and provided detailed guidance. Since my room did not have an indoor bath, I used the outdoor baths. All outdoor baths can be reserved privately, each with its own charm, but Bath 1 and Bath 5 had particularly great atmospheres. One issue with the outdoor baths is that the hot spring water seems to be directly connected to the hot side of the shower, so caution is needed as extremely hot water may come out initially. There is also a private large bath available for reservation up to two times during your stay, which was very relaxing and my favorite spot. Regarding meals, I didn’t order any high-grade options, so there’s not much to comment on; however, the sashimi was fresh and delicious. The wine quality was excellent—I wanted to try some but found it quite expensive—so I only ordered a glass of wine. As someone who enjoys natural wines, it would be great if they could offer more in this category. Compared to wine prices, sake and shochu are reasonably priced and provide better value for money. Additionally, beer, juice, and coffee in the room are complimentary—a nice perk! Overall, this is a wonderful accommodation that I would recommend.

Accommodation with a touch of Japanese hospitality

I stayed at an accommodation with my friend in a Western-style building. This place features various types of relocated traditional houses, each turned into unique rooms, offering different enjoyable experiences. The Western-style building does not have indoor baths, but there are many creatively designed outdoor and open-air baths, allowing us to enjoy a delightful bath-hopping experience. The meals were luxurious Japanese cuisine that we could hardly finish and were absolutely delicious. If I have another chance, I would love to stay in other rooms as well. One downside was the long staircase leading to the open-air bath, which might be challenging for elderly guests.

    Excellent

Thanks to the excellent service, we had a wonderful stay. The bath allowed us to relax, and the variety of drinks was impressive. Everything was well-prepared, and we would love to visit again. The thoughtful details in the Room and throughout the Ryokan reflected its dedication, making our stay very comfortable. We look forward to enjoying a different menu on our next visit!

    Wonderful

I was extremely satisfied with everything, including the Room, meals, the friendliness of the staff, and the overall atmosphere of the Ryokan. Also, the large open-air family bath is beyond the level of a family bath. It is the best ever, simply amazing. We stayed with four people, but the Room was too spacious, so next time we will definitely repeat with a different Room.

    Tree Shade Room 2 Nights

We stayed as a family for a New Year's trip. The room, onsen, service, cuisine, and clientele were all wonderful. The onsen was excellent as it could be used privately. The cuisine was very delicate, refined, and delicious, but there were so many dishes that we couldn't finish them, which was unfortunate. Next time, we plan to stay for three nights.

Stays, onsen facility, service, and meals all receive top ratings.

I stayed at this Property for two nights, and the accommodation, Onsen Facility, service, and meals were all top-notch. Although it is located away from the center of the tourist area in Yufuin, it was quiet and offered privacy, which I personally appreciated. I was amazed by the size of the private open-air bath. I would definitely like to stay again.

A property I wanted to stay at once

We stayed for our 40th wedding anniversary. The moss and autumn leaves in the garden were beautiful. The private open-air bath was also excellent. Since all the buildings are separate, we were able to spend time quietly. The meals and the attentiveness of the staff were also wonderful. The only slight disappointment was the way some guests used the bath. It reminded me to be mindful of my own actions so that the next guest can have a pleasant experience. It's a property I would like to visit again.

    Until the end

This was my first time using this Property, and I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful Facility, Room, and bar. The selection at the shop was a bit lacking. At the bar, I was welcomed with a "welcome back," and on my way out, I was seen off to the door, but during checkout, there was no send-off to the car with a "thank you." At other Stays I've used, the staff would see me off with a "have a nice trip," and I felt hospitality until the very end, but this time, at the very last moment, I felt a bit of "huh?" It was a little disappointing.

There are various onsen stays, but it is rare to find a property with such a wonderful private open-air bath amidst fresh greenery. Not only the open-air bath, but also the room and the staff's meticulous attention to detail made us feel very happy. Thank you for the wonderful travel memories.

    The dining experience was disappointing.

I stay at more than 50 Accommodations a year. I made a Reservation for the most expensive Room at this Accommodation. It was over JPY 230,000 per night for two people. I was told the meals vary by Room, but the dinner—where my expectations were highest—did not match this price at all. It wasn’t bad, but it was completely ordinary. I wanted to have Seki horse mackerel and even called to confirm it would be served, but it was changed to grunt (isaki), supposedly due to the effects of global warming. When I spoke with them by phone two days before our stay, I was told it would definitely be served. If it wasn’t going to be provided, I would have switched to another Accommodation I was considering. Also, the meal information mentioned shark fin and spiny lobster; however, the shark fin portion was very small and spiny lobster was not served at all. When I asked about this, I was told spiny lobster is only provided for guests staying two nights. This should be clearly stated as “from the second night.” The dining area also wasn’t good. Breakfast was also disappointing. Since the Accommodation we stayed at the day before had excellent food, this stay ended up being very disappointing overall.
