    A long-established inn with a distinguished atmosphere

    You can really feel the dignity of a long-established Ryokan. It had the distinguished atmosphere of an Accommodation that hosts the Kisei title match. After arrival, my companion was delighted with the welcome beer (or soft drink). We used the complimentary beer voucher during our stay after bathing and enjoyed a delicious post-bath beer. Dinner was served in our Room, so we could relax and take our time. I had breakfast in the dining area, though it seems in-room breakfast is also available. I say that because a staff member mistakenly came to deliver breakfast to our Room (an error). Both dinner and breakfast were enjoyable, making great use of local ingredients. Breakfast in particular was simple but delicious. At checkout, the staff apologized for the breakfast mix-up, and the proprietress also offered her apologies. That kind of thoughtfulness felt like true Japanese Ryokan hospitality.

    A Historic Ryokan

    I requested a Shuttle Service to the station for my return trip by phone, but at check-in I was told that the request had not been received, which was a bit disappointing. The meals were very delicious, and the staff who served them were courteous.

    This is an Accommodation where I’d like to enjoy a Multiple Night Stay.

    The food was simply outstanding. We were able to relax and fully enjoy the meal served in our Room. We are truly grateful to the staff member who served us. As it is a historic building, some areas feel a bit old-fashioned, but that is part of its charm, and we think it is a wonderful Accommodation overall. It made us want to come back for a longer Multiple Night Stay.

    True to its name as a “ryotei you can stay at,” the cuisine is outstanding.

    Everything was delicious overall, but the soup course was especially outstanding. For the final soup, we had miso soup made with Echigo miso, and in retrospect it was the best I have ever had.

    Feel like you're inside a cultural heritage site.

    The ambiance was wonderful, and the autumn leaves in the magnificent garden were beautiful. The building exuded history everywhere you looked. We stayed in the detached Bamboo Pavilion, but it was so spacious that we felt a bit overwhelmed. A room on the second floor overlooking the garden might have been a better choice for us. In fact, breakfast in the large hall on the second floor had an excellent atmosphere. The sashimi stood out for its deliciousness. We appreciated that there was no meat and that dessert consisted of fresh fruit, which suited us perfectly. The only disappointment was the souvenir corner. What deserves special mention is the Onsen in our room! Although the bathtub was small and required filling and adjusting to your preferred temperature yourself, it was truly amazing. We skipped visiting the public bath and enjoyed soaking multiple times. A detached accommodation with an Onsen, in-room dining, kaiseki cuisine, all-you-can-drink Swan Lake beer... all at an incredible price—it surprised us! Thank you also for providing Shuttle Service!

    I had been researchi...

    I had been researching accommodations I wanted to visit and decided to travel to Niigata during the autumn foliage season to stay at Takashimaya in Iwamuro and visit Yahiko Shrine, which I had long wanted to see. The Takashimaya building retains its historical charm while offering a wonderful atmosphere, making it very comfortable. The Onsen was excellent, and the cuisine exceeded all expectations! The next morning's breakfast was served in a venue overlooking the garden. Unusually for me, I asked for seconds of rice and miso soup, as did many other guests one after another—it must be because the breakfast was that delicious. My entire family was satisfied, and we would love to visit again.

    Exceptional hospitality and delicious cuisine with a touch of history.

    The building is simply outstanding, and the bath was a wonderful Onsen that left my skin feeling smooth. The meals were authentic Japanese cuisine, truly living up to the name of a "ryotei you can stay at." What impressed me the most was everyone's hospitality; their warm smiles were truly comforting. I would love to stay here again.

    It was a great Ryokan with history and culture.

    The staff at the accommodation were all very polite and kind. Everything seen and heard in the historic hall was fascinating. The food was delicious, and the tableware was excellent. However, sitting on tatami mats for meals was a bit challenging as I am not used to it recently. The onsen, though old, was clean, and I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful baths three times.

    It was a wonderful accommodation! Thank you very much!

    We stayed for two nights as a family of three. "A ryotei you can stay at" – it was exactly that, or even more! We enjoyed traditional Japanese cuisine at the ryotei, soaked in the onsen (a rare black hot spring), and relaxed in a spacious and clean room. The hospitality from everyone at the accommodation truly touched our hearts. This time we stayed in the detached Take-tei, but next time we’d love to try other rooms as well! We will definitely visit again!!
