    Moved by the thoughtful, everyday hospitality.

    I stayed again following last month. I wasn’t satisfied with the in-room dining; for hygiene reasons, having hot pot repeatedly gets tiring. However, something truly moving happened and it completely changed how I felt. On the final day, after using the main building bath, I requested the Shuttle Service. I’m currently in post-surgery rehabilitation, and a staff member noticed and placed a step for me when boarding—and of course when getting off as well. That small, thoughtful gesture is what moved me. I’ll be staying again from the end of this month, and that experience is exactly why I decided to return. Next time, I’ll switch to the buffet meals. Thank you.

    The Hotel I’d Been Curious About

    We stayed for an anniversary trip because acquaintances and online Reviews were very positive. It was a Hotel that made us want to stay again. We had reserved a twin Room, but thank you for upgrading us to a family Room on the day. Thanks to that, we were able to relax in a quiet, spacious corner Room with a Japanese-style room and a great view. The bed firmness was just right, and I slept soundly for the first time in a while. All of the buffet dishes were delicious, especially the Chinese-style flavors. The large public bath was pleasantly warm (on the mild side), so we could soak at length, and the löyly sauna was also great. Overall we were very satisfied, but it was disappointing that there were so few types of sake included in the premium all-you-can-drink option at dinner. It was also confusing that the drink examples listed on your website and the drink list shown during our stay were presented separately. Since this is known as a Hotel in a rice-producing region, perhaps my expectations were too high, but I would be happy if you could increase the selection of junmai sake. Unfortunately it rained this time, but we would love to visit again in another season.

    An accommodation where you can enjoy exceptional dining, an Onsen, and vast natural surroundings beyond your expectations.

    We stayed as a family of four. The Room was very spacious. The building does feel a bit dated, but it was clean and comfortable—more than enough space for four people. If I had to mention one thing, the TV and sofa weren’t aligned, so it would have been even better if the TV were positioned for easier viewing from both the Japanese-style room and the sofa. The Onsen was absolutely wonderful! Although I think there were many guests staying, it was surprisingly never too crowded, so we could relax and enjoy it. Being able to choose from different shampoos and having several types of hair dryers available was also a fun touch. What we looked forward to most this time was the food. We chose this Hotel after hearing how good the meals were, and it lived up to our expectations. The sushi and sashimi in particular were excellent, and there were many local specialties and unique dishes as well. Before we knew it, we had been enjoying dinner with drinks for over two hours. Breakfast also had a great variety—we were very satisfied. The grounds are large with beautiful greenery, and another highlight is how many activities are available. This time we tried the athletic course mainly for the zipline, but it was more authentic than expected and our kids loved it. The staff were friendly and kind. One thing to note is that you can’t switch order partway through the course, so if you’re going together with other guests it might feel a bit pressured. I thought it would be nice if there were an option just to enjoy the zipline. It was genuinely fun, so I was a little surprised there weren’t more participants. It was reassuring that insect repellent was provided. There were also on-site tours not listed on the website—some things we only found out about later that we would have joined if we’d known in advance. If more of this information were available beforehand, I think guests could enjoy an even wider range of experiences. With great food, an Onsen, nature, and activities all in one place, this Accommodation lets you truly enjoy your stay at the Hotel itself. It’s a wonderful Accommodation for families looking to relax together.

    We finally got to st...

    We finally got to stay somewhere we’d been wanting to visit for a long time! There’s a comfortable bus from Echigo-Yuzawa, so it was a big help not having to worry about transportation. Our main purpose was nature activities, and thanks to the staff—whose genuine love of nature really came through—our children were able to have valuable experiences. They also fully enjoyed the treehouse. The Onsen and private baths were very clean. The water quality can make surfaces slippery, so caution is needed. The buffet wasn’t overly crowded, making it easy to serve ourselves, and everything was delicious. The service where kids receive a capsule toy when they eat vegetables made many families’ children happy, and our child also worked hard to eat their veggies—such a great idea. Since diapers are bulky and add to luggage, the service of providing a few diapers was very helpful. We were also happy that IKYU benefits included late check-out. Next time, we’d like to visit in a different season and enjoy nature again. Thank you in advance.

    A beautiful highland resort with excellent Facilities, offering great value for the price.

    This was a very satisfying stay at a large highland resort surrounded by nature. The Hotel offers a wide range of Facilities, is expansive, and is well maintained overall. Even just staying within the Hotel is enjoyable—it truly feels like a Resort Hotel designed for an immersive stay. What stood out most was the surrounding nature and gardens. The spacious grounds are filled with greenery, and simply walking through the beautifully kept gardens felt wonderful. I was able to enjoy the open, refreshing atmosphere that’s unique to a highland resort. The dinner buffet had an excellent variety, making it fun to choose from. Including breakfast, I was very satisfied with the meals. That said, because both the food and the overall atmosphere of the Hotel are so good, the seating and table area in the buffet venue felt a bit simple. A slightly more refined setting would match the rest of the Hotel even better. The only drawback is access—since it’s deep in the mountains, it isn’t what you’d call conveniently located. However, that location is exactly what provides such rich nature and quietness, offering a completely different appeal from city Hotels. It’s best suited for visiting with this Hotel as your destination and taking time to relax. This time I stayed with dinner and breakfast included, and considering everything—from the well-equipped Facilities to the food and natural surroundings—I felt it offered good value for money. A highland resort where you can enjoy vast grounds and abundant nature—different from luxury city Hotels. It’s great not only for family trips but also when you want to unwind and refresh at a leisurely pace.

    If you have any trouble with the washing machine

    We were very satisfied to have stayed at such a wonderful Hotel. The meals and the services for children were excellent as well. Regarding the title: we used the coin laundry, and while we were rushing around because our children are still small, we realized that we had accidentally put a smartphone into the washing machine. When I panicked and called the extension, a staff member responded kindly and carefully, for which we are truly grateful. I wanted to confirm their name and thank them at check-out, but I forgot to ask. So I am writing it here instead. This is a Hotel we would like to stay at again next year. Thank you very much.

    Family-friendly Hotel

    This is a family-friendly Hotel with Accommodation for visiting Kiyotsu Gorge, offering various sports Facilities such as golf, as well as playground equipment. The Hotel is large, and the buffet dining area was crowded, but the food was delicious with a wide variety of dishes. The Room was spacious and comfortable.

    An Accommodation that would be even better with more staff training.

    This was my fifth stay. I used the Accommodation to recuperate after surgery. The day before my stay, I called to confirm my pet’s meals, but the response suggested they had not understood the details at all, which felt unsettling. Because I needed a cane after surgery, I relied on the Shuttle Service from the cottage; only three staff members brought out a step for me. Others only responded from the driver’s seat, which was disappointing—communication and sharing information seemed lacking, and it was very unfortunate that staff could not grasp a guest’s situation. Also, compared with previous visits, it felt like there were fewer smiles from the staff. If more effort is put into staff training at the front desk, this could truly shine as an excellent place to stay.

    Make wonderful memories with a truly fulfilling stay

    We stayed for two nights with two adults and two children (ages 4 and 2). With the pool, putter golf, asparagus harvesting, cycling, and the wooden play area, we had three full days of fun and were very satisfied. The entire spacious property was clean and well maintained, making it a very comfortable stay. All staff were friendly and kind—speaking to our children at their eye level—which we really appreciated. The private bath (45 minutes / 1,980 yen) was well equipped for kids. They had various baby soaps, bath toys, a chair, a Richell bath mat, a baby tub, a diaper-changing table, and even wipes—very helpful. The price felt a bit high at the time of Reservation, but considering the quality of the stay it made sense. We played a lot and made wonderful memories. One concern was that nighttime noise carried easily. We could hear voices in the hallway and a baby crying in another room, which woke us up several times. Also, the weekend dinner buffet was crowded. Our table was far from the buffet area and slightly cramped, and there was only one coffee machine so the wait time was long. Weekdays seem better if you want to enjoy it at a relaxed pace. That said, our whole family loved it. We would like to visit again. Thank you for helping us create such lovely memories.

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    Many Hotels these days do not provide amenities in the name of being eco-friendly, but at Belnatio, each amenity was a high-quality item chosen with comfort in mind, and I truly felt the excellent service. The room and the Onsen were clean and stress-free, and the meals were very delicious. Thank you very much!

    My Mother’s Birthday

    We visited to celebrate my mother’s birthday.\nShe used to come here for golf, and because both the service and the food were excellent, she asked to visit again.\nWhen I ordered a birthday cake in advance, all the staff were incredibly thoughtful, and it became a truly wonderful birthday celebration.\nThank you very much.\nShe can’t play golf anymore, but next time we’d love to enjoy putt-putt golf instead.

    Family trip with a 3-year-old child

    We stayed for one night on our way back from visiting my in-laws. The Hotel was very comfortable, and all the staff were attentive, efficient, and a pleasure to interact with. The food was also excellent—not an overwhelming number of dishes, but each item was delicious. Since it was a buffet with our child who has a big appetite and lots of curiosity, having a cart available was perfect. The Onsen was relaxing, and the changing area was comfortable as well. As it is a very large Facility, if your Room is at the far end, getting around may feel a bit tiring for some guests. Overall, it’s a Hotel we would like to visit again.

    The perfect Hotel for families with children.

    We planned this trip for playing in the snow, but it was a little disappointing that the weather warmed up and the snow had started to melt. Still, our child was thrilled. When we visited during the snowy season last time, there was fresh snowfall and the powder snow was amazing, so compared with that it felt a bit disappointing—but we still enjoyed it plenty. It rained on our arrival day and we couldn’t play outside, but there were indoor programs that kids love—card collecting, treasure chest hunts, stamp rallies, and more—so we never got bored. It’s wonderful that there are free activities children can enjoy, and it was also great to see how much our child has grown since last time. There are many families with children both in the restaurant and throughout the property, which makes it perfect for families because you can relax without worrying about others. If we come as adults only next time, I’d like to try a restaurant that isn’t a buffet. All of the staff were very kind and pleasant. As I may have mentioned last time as well, I would really appreciate it if you could add Rooms with private Onsen baths. It’s a bit far from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, but several Shuttle Service buses run there, so it’s very convenient. We will visit again in another season.

    Fifth stay

    This was our fifth stay. We visit about once a year for a three-generation family trip. As always, the baths were very comfortable, and this time we enjoyed both the main building and annex baths. The main building has an open-air bath, while the annex offered great views from the 7th floor. At Dining Cosmos, we again enjoyed the wide variety of menu options, and we were able to try Peking duck this time—it was delicious! The children were happy to have ramen in the morning. All of the staff provided excellent service and showed great consideration in many ways. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again!

    Go to play in the snow with kids

    We made a Reservation here at my son’s request: “I want to play in the snow!” We often visit the Yatsugatake area, but there’s usually not enough snow, so it never quite satisfies us… Here, the amount of snow was on a completely different level—we were amazed! He played nonstop in the snow for two hours, took a break, then went right back out again… He got to do everything he wanted, like building an igloo and sledding. When traveling with kids we often choose buffet-style Hotels, and Bernatio’s buffet was delicious both morning and night… We happily went back for seconds many times. He also willingly worked on the card where you get a toy for eating vegetables, and looked very proud of himself. In the morning, there was a large snowplow right outside our Room window clearing snow. (The operator even waved at us!) My son was thrilled. The kids’ room is great for passing an hour or so, and he also seemed to enjoy Forest Plaza where you can do crafts—he was playing from start to finish. Thank you as well to the housekeeping staff who noticed we had pushed two beds together and put one fitted sheet over them. As parents, we didn’t feel there was anything that wasn’t good value. We’d love to come back even when our son is old enough to ski or snowboard. Thank you! *One note: the sofa in our Room felt worn out and wasn’t very comfortable to sit on, so it may be time for some maintenance.*

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

    This was our first stay, and we stayed in a cottage. From the reservation process, we received very thorough guidance regarding food allergies, which was extremely helpful. The hotel staff (including restaurant staff, snow park staff, and shuttle bus drivers) were all very polite, kind, and provided excellent service. The room was very warm and well-maintained. It was also family-friendly, so we had no issues traveling with children. It was a large group trip including two children and parents, but the hotel catered to all age groups comfortably and kindly. We would love to stay here again next winter. Additionally, it is a hotel I would recommend to friends as well. Thank you very much!

    Staying at Belnatio is truly healing. This is our third stay, and on the way home, my whole family always says we want to come back to Belnatio. It’s truly a wonderful accommodation. The food is delicious, the staff's service is excellent, and the onsen is amazing. We absolutely love Belnatio.

    It had been a long time since my last visit to Bernatio, but the stay exceeded its price. The cleanliness, meals, and even the quality of the hot spring water felt significantly improved compared to before. I would love to stay again.

    A Wonderful Family Resort Hotel

    You can freely use the towels provided in the large public bath, so there's no need to bring damp towels from your Room. I believe any Hotel with this system is undoubtedly a good one. Additionally, one of the two large public baths is always available for use even before check-in or after check-out, and I was delighted with the warm guidance provided. There were some minor concerns, such as voices echoing from the hallway and gurgling sounds from the drain after using water—perhaps due to the building's age—but overall, it met my expectations and was a highly satisfying stay. I thoroughly enjoyed the meals as well. If there were self-serve coffee or tea available around the lobby area, it would have been perfect. However, despite such excellent hospitality, I found it strange that wearing loungewear inside the restaurant was not allowed. Guests must account for travel time from their Room and adhere to dress code rules by changing clothes accordingly. After enjoying a relaxing bath, having to change back into sweaters or other attire felt inconvenient—especially when managing long-distance travel, snowy outdoor activities, or taking care of children—and made what should have been a relaxing moment feel rushed instead. If loungewear in restaurants is considered inappropriate in appearance, perhaps offering pajama-style but more lounge-wear-like options could be considered. The shuttle bus service from Echigo-Yuzawa Station was very convenient and much appreciated. Although we live far away now, if we were closer by distance-wise—we’d love visiting this Hotel regularly across different seasons!

    A Relaxing Accommodation as Always

    As a returning guest, this was my first time staying in the annex. The Japanese-Western style room was spacious and comfortable, but the Western-style area only had a small two-seater sofa, which was smaller than those in the main building. When I checked the hotel's official website, it showed that rooms in the annex had a round table with two chairs by the window and a square table surrounded by a sofa and two chairs. However, there were no chairs provided, which made it inconvenient to find seating. Although staff kindly brought me some chairs upon request, they were banquet-style chairs that felt out of place. For meals, I chose the buffet as usual. This time, I noticed fewer dishes available and fewer meat options compared to before. I always look forward to pork from the live kitchen station but was slightly disappointed as it wasn’t offered (though roast beef was available). At breakfast, there were no omelets this time around—something that had been available during my visit in May. While there are fewer options overall now, each dish maintains its high quality level, which is commendable given rising costs; I could sense their efforts to maintain standards. The staff members greeted us warmly with smiles throughout our stay—it’s much appreciated and creates such a pleasant atmosphere. The onsen seemed even more "silky" than before; after just one soak my skin felt incredibly smooth! Enjoying snowy landscapes while relaxing in the onsen was absolutely breathtaking. I’m already looking forward to visiting again next time—thank you very much for everything!

    It was amazing!!!

    I stayed for two nights in the annex family room! The shuttle bus from the station was luxurious and comfortable! Upon arrival at the hotel, I was delighted to be greeted by the staff at the entrance. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very user-friendly. Although it had an old-fashioned feel, it added a retro charm that made it very relaxing. I enjoyed multiple visits to the onsen, and the meals were truly delicious—I ate too much (haha). I explored around the hotel, listened to piano music in the lobby, joined a tour of Kiyotsu Gorge, and thoroughly enjoyed this stay! I'm planning to visit again during January's snowy season and am really looking forward to seeing a different scenery!!!

    Unfortunately.

    I have stayed at this hotel many times and absolutely love it, but the buffet meals, which are a highlight, have been getting less impressive over the years. This time, both dinner and breakfast had fewer warm dishes, and I was disappointed to find that even freshly made omelets were no longer available at breakfast. Since IKYU.com lists this accommodation as a "4 Pavilion" facility in the Michelin Guide Niigata 2020 Special Edition, I hope they can restore the previous quality of their meals to match that reputation. Was it perhaps due to staff shortages because of group bookings? Other aspects such as customer service, cleanliness, and the baths were perfect. From next time on, I plan to choose either a Japanese or Western course meal instead of the buffet.

    Highly recommended Hotel.

    We stayed for the first time at this onsen accommodation for two nights with our 11-month-old baby and a small dog. While there were rooms and plans tailored for babies, we opted for a private cottage since we brought our dog. The property is expansive, featuring the main building, annex, cottages, and other shared facilities. After checking in at the main building with its large Christmas tree, you can drive your car to your cottage. Despite the vast grounds, shuttle service is available 24/7 to take you to restaurants or the public bathhouse, so there was no inconvenience. While it might be a pleasant walking distance in good weather, we frequently used the shuttle due to bad weather during our stay—thank you very much! The room was very clean and well-equipped with amenities for dogs, making it a comfortable stay. For meals, we chose a buffet on the first night and shabu-shabu served in-room on the second night; both were highly satisfying. One minor point regarding drinks: while mineral water was provided on the first night, it would have been nice to have some again on the second night. Additionally, breakfast served in-room consisted of bread and drinkable yogurt; having soft drinks like juice would have been appreciated as well. On another note about beverages—seeing an excellent selection of alcohols for dinner brought us joy! The public bathhouse didn’t stand out particularly but offered baby-friendly items and shampoo options through their "shampoo bar," along with soothing hot water that felt great. Other thoughtful services included complimentary diapers for babies (a few pieces), as well as a well-equipped kids' space. One small suggestion: regarding waste separation bins in cottage kitchens (currently labeled "burnable" or "non-burnable"), clearer instructions such as categories like bottles/cans/paper/plastic could be helpful since sorting rules vary by region. It seems there are outdoor facilities perfect for enjoying nature too—we’d love to visit again during spring greenery season! The staff’s warm smiles made this hotel experience even more delightful.

    Excellent value for money.

    This was our second stay with my 90-year-old mother, following our visit in September. The free shuttle service from the Shinkansen station takes 40 minutes, and this Hotel, surrounded by vast greenery, offers a rare opportunity to enjoy high-quality cuisine and Onsen at this price. We also appreciated the bus tour that took us to local attractions. The hotel staff member who served as both guide and driver shared various stories about the town's history, conveying their pride and love for both the town and the Hotel. We would love to visit again during a different season. As a suggestion, it would be great if non-caffeinated coffee and non-alcoholic beer were available with dinner. Additionally, we found it challenging to understand how to use the facial steamer and hairdryer in the women’s large bath area; some guidance would be helpful.

    Excellent hospitality

    The best hospitality. The staff kindly accommodated our request to change the meal time during check-in, and even when I spilled coffee, they handled it without any unpleasant reaction. They were also very considerate towards my father in a wheelchair, and all the staff greeted us warmly. Despite the challenges of rising costs these days, they provided truly delicious meals using plenty of local ingredients and offered clean and pleasant baths. The amenities were excellent as well. It turned out to be a wonderful family trip. Thank you very much. We would love to stay again!
