    Beppu Onsen Trip

I stayed at this Ryokan for my first Beppu Onsen trip, and I truly feel it was the best choice. The room had an Onsen bath, allowing us to enjoy it multiple times with our children and fully relax as a family. Additionally, the private family bath was spacious and highly recommended. What left the biggest impression was the delicious cuisine. Each dish was carefully prepared, incredibly tasty, and thoroughly satisfying. The Oita specialty "Toriten" we ordered additionally was exceptional. The attention to detail in children's menus and portion sizes made for a wonderful dining experience. The staff were consistently kind and attentive from arrival to departure, making our stay pleasant and enjoyable. They also provided detailed information about Beppu Onsen, creating great memories for our children. From the meals to the staff's hospitality to even small amenities, every detail reflected their dedication to excellent service. It truly is an outstanding accommodation. If I have another chance to visit Beppu, I would love to stay here again. Thanks to this Ryokan, we had a fantastic trip in Oita. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

Thank you for your hospitality. The phone support for prior confirmation was very polite, and I felt reassured on the day without any unnecessary worries. Thank you for accommodating the meal changes. The dishes were plentiful, and we enjoyed them slowly and quietly. When I brought a photo of my late father, you kindly prepared rice and soup for him during the meal. My mother and niece were moved to tears by your thoughtfulness. Despite being a Ryokan with an in-room bath at a higher price point, unlike many others offering buffets, we were truly able to spend relaxing family time during our stay. Bath I only noticed some fallen leaves on the skylight and was slightly concerned about the ventilation fan.

The best experience of my life.

Ryokan in the Kanto region can be expensive, with meals that often don't match the price, and staff who avoid small talk or seem cold due to fear of complaints. However, coming here, I felt the warmth of humanity for the first time in a while. It seemed to suit my body as well—my skin became smooth—and it turned out to be one of the best memories of my life. My father, who usually needs a wheelchair when feeling unwell, enjoyed himself so much that he walked with just a cane throughout the trip. The private bath is truly wonderful; I imagine maintaining it must be quite challenging. Thank you for your exceptional hospitality and care—it was greatly appreciated!

Showa-era Facility, suitable for therapeutic stays.

The facilities were outdated, and the moment I entered the room, my excitement faded. Approaching the entrance and looking out from the guest room windows or open-air Onsen, I noticed broken parts of some tools or equipment propped up here and there. The guest room was plain, with simple tables, chairs, and cushions. It reminded me of a school trip accommodation from my student days. The yukata sash was torn, and half of the meal—such as tuna and fish dishes—was left uneaten due to a fishy smell. I heard that they serve good-quality beef due to their management connections; indeed, compared to other items, the beef was better in quality and enjoyable enough to finish. However, dining in this room did not lift my spirits. The private family bath felt relatively new as if it had been renovated recently. One highlight was a lovely female staff member who was present only on the first day; she provided brief comfort during an otherwise uneasy stay. My family mentioned that they enjoyed the quality of the Onsen water itself—it might be suitable for those seeking therapeutic baths (Toji). Personally, I felt uneasy soaking in a bathroom where visible dirt suggested insufficient cleaning. This Accommodation booked through IKYU.com turned out to be far from what we had imagined beforehand—the most disappointing experience so far via IKYU.com reservations. My family also commented that this price point seemed unreasonable for what we received overall. I hope regular on-site inspections are conducted instead of solely relying on positive Reviews when listing properties like this one. Considering how dated Kannawa Onsen is overall as an area selection might indeed be challenging too!

    A secluded Onsen Ryokan

I stayed in a room with an indoor bath and an open-air bath. While the accommodation felt a bit old, it was clean overall except for some minor details. The indoor and open-air baths were compact but allowed for a relaxing experience. It would be nice if the pipes of the open-air bath could be hidden with plants or flowers for better aesthetics. The amenities were well-prepared, with extra towels and yukata provided, which was great. All the staff members offered excellent service, making my stay very enjoyable. Thank you! For dinner, I ordered a steak course as the main dish and added Ise lobster sashimi as an extra order. The lobster sashimi was served together with the course's sashimi platter, but I would have preferred them to be plated separately. Additionally, it would have been nice if more attention had been given to the timing of serving dishes. Since I wanted to enjoy my drinks leisurely, having appetizers, sashimi, and soup served consecutively felt rushed; it would have been better if the soup had been served later at a warmer temperature. The dishes were quite filling overall, so I couldn't finish everything. I mentioned this to one of the staff members: while they made miso soup using the head of the lobster upon request, unfortunately, it wasn't tasty at all. Breakfast also had generous portions; however, even then, I found that their miso soup wasn't flavorful either. While not bad overall in terms of taste or quality as meals from a ryokan restaurant (kappo ryokan), their seasoning choices and presentation didn't align with my personal preferences regarding flavor combinations or plating style.

    I had a relaxing time.

I stayed here with my father, who needs a cane to walk, because the room had an Onsen and in-room dining was available. We were able to enjoy our meals leisurely at the table in the room, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Although there was a small issue with the Onsen in the room, we were able to use the family bath instead and enjoyed it comfortably. In the morning, however, my father found it too far to go to the family bath and felt slightly unsatisfied with just using the Onsen in our room. The staff who served our meals in the room and those at reception treated us very kindly throughout our stay.

    It was the best hospitality!

It was an absolutely wonderful ryokan! We chose this accommodation based on reviews praising the delicious cuisine and the in-room bath, and it exceeded our expectations in every way, including service, the building, and facilities. The single-story building has a charming atmosphere, with rooms facing a garden that creates a lovely ambiance. From the moment we entered through the gate, we felt it was a perfect choice. Every detail of the facilities and amenities is thoughtfully designed with care; everything is clean without any inconvenience or discomfort to be found—truly outstanding. The cuisine lived up to its reviews—beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We were amazed by how many intricate dishes we could enjoy to our heart's content—a luxurious experience indeed. The cypress bath in our room felt larger than it appeared in photos, allowing us to stretch out comfortably. The large windows provided an open feeling; we even opened them while soaking for ultimate relaxation. Having access to an in-room bath multiple times during our stay felt like such a luxury! Above all else, we were deeply impressed by the hospitality of the staff—their warm service at just the right distance made us feel truly cared for and helped melt away daily stress. Surrounded by towering buildings housing other ryokans nearby, this single-story ryokan offers a unique sense of exclusivity. The otherworldly atmosphere as you pass through its gate is simply enchanting. This is definitely a ryokan I want to visit again someday. Thank you so much for your exceptional hospitality!

We had a special and memorable time.

I stayed here for my mother's birthday trip. The dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious, and it was the most impressive experience among all the ryokans I have stayed at in the past. Additionally, the service from the staff serving dinner and those working in the morning was truly exceptional, which made my mother very happy about this trip. The onsen in our room was also extremely relaxing. Thank you for also guiding us to a place where we could purchase souvenirs we were looking for. I will definitely stay here again when traveling with my mother in the future.

    Relaxing

The staff kindly informed us about nearby tourist spots and points, allowing us to have an enjoyable time. Since we had in-room dining, we could relax and enjoy a leisurely time, and the open-air bath was perfect as it was a bit chilly.

    A perfect stay

The room is really nice, spacious, and I was very satisfied with the in-room hot spring. The meals were served in the room, delicious, and the portions were just right. I would like to stay here again the next time I visit Beppu. Thank you very much.
