    Thank you very much.

    This was our first time visiting on a family trip. Thanks to the staff’s heartfelt hospitality, we felt comfortable throughout our stay and are truly grateful. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and we had a relaxing, well-cared-for stay. We would love to stay again next time as well. Thank you very much for everything!

    Staying with an Infant

    We stayed at Yagyu-no-Sho while looking for an Accommodation where we could stay with an infant and relax. When we sent a message at the time of Reservation letting them know we had an infant and sharing our requests, they responded flexibly. They also helped us with an issue on the day, which was a great relief. Recommended for those staying with an infant who still want to enjoy a quiet, relaxing stay and the traditional atmosphere.

    Second Stay / Kuju Room

    Following last year’s stay, this was our second visit. This time we stayed in the Kuju room. The spacious setting overlooking the courtyard garden, the woven ceiling, and the alcove with its hanging scroll and tiered boxes—everything was truly beautiful, and from the moment we checked in we felt transported into an extraordinary world. The cuisine once again far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of spring-inspired dishes, and they were also very attentive to ingredients we don’t eat, allowing us to relax and enjoy every course with complete peace of mind. We were also delighted that the Champagne we had requested in advance was prepared alongside the meal service. Their thoughtful attention to detail—and their responsiveness in handling requests ahead of time—is one of this Accommodation’s greatest strengths. After dinner, the salon offered a fine selection including brandy and grappa, making for a wonderfully unhurried finish to the evening. Thanks to the sincere hospitality of each staff member, including our attendant, we were able to spend a truly special time in such a serene setting. We would love to return again in another season.

    It was excellent.

    I visited Yagyu no Sho, a place I had always wanted to go, to relax and recover from the year-end and New Year fatigue. The food was absolutely exceptional, and everything was perfect. The Room's bath was great, but the open-air bath with its stunning location was so wonderful that I ended up soaking for a long time. Personally, I especially enjoyed the open-air bath of Tsuu no Yu. The staff's smooth service, perfect balance of attentiveness and distance, and thoughtful care were all outstanding. I would love to visit again and hopefully enjoy a Multiple Night Stay next time. Thank you for your hospitality!

    A wonderful 2-day, 1-night stay.

    We stayed for one night in the Katsura Room on 12/26 with my wife and our first-grade son. We chose this accommodation because my son, who loves large baths, wanted a place with a beautiful open-air bath. In the open-air bath, some maple leaves were still present, allowing us to enjoy the autumn scenery while bathing. We took a long soak in a half-body bathing style. The open-air bath was not crowded, so we could relax peacefully. My wife also used the indoor bath in our room and was very satisfied with it. The meals were luxurious dish by dish. Even as amateurs, we could tell that great care had been taken with the ingredients. The wagyu filet steak was served already cooked and was so delicious it left us speechless. For children’s meals, dishes like fried shrimp, hamburger steak, sashimi, and more were provided—so luxurious even adults would be impressed. The accommodation overall was quiet and felt like an escape from urban noise. The temperature inside the facility was well-regulated; we didn’t need to use the air conditioning in our room too much, so our throats didn’t feel dry. The service was excellent as well—it struck just the right balance of attentiveness without being intrusive—and they treated our child kindly too. I highly recommend this place for those looking to enjoy peaceful moments in a quiet space along with delicious meals.

    Elegant and Simple High-Quality Accommodation

    The quality of each dish is exceptionally high, providing great satisfaction. The large public bath and open-air bath are top-notch in ambiance, water temperature, and cleanliness. The Room exudes a refined sense of cleanliness, allowing for a serene atmosphere. It would have been nice to have mouthwash as an amenity. A double-sided mirror in the restroom would have been appreciated. The speed at which the dishes were served was slightly fast. It would be better to have more trash bins in the Room.

    Pride of Japan

    The room, onsen, meals, and customer service were all exceptional at this wonderful accommodation. I usually get bothered by the noise of heating equipment when sleeping, but here it was completely quiet, allowing me to sleep soundly. In onsen towns with many accommodations, I sometimes feel that staff shortages lead to inadequate service; however, Yagyu no Sho truly felt like an accommodation Japan can be proud of. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of us.

    Celebrating My Husband's Birthday

    This was my second visit. I previously visited with my mother and found it to be a wonderful Ryokan, so I returned to celebrate my husband's birthday. The semi-open-air bath in the Room was very comfortable, and I enjoyed a relaxing time soaking in the bath again right after breakfast. The Ryokan arranged for our suitcase to be delivered home, and we were impressed by their thoughtful care as they wiped it clean and covered it before sending it. Once again, I was reminded that this is truly the finest Ryokan in Shuzenji. Thank you very much!

    The Excellence of Cuisine and Hot Springs

    The meals were excellent. Each dish was rich in flavor and offered a variety, making it enjoyable without feeling repetitive. The portions might be slightly on the larger side. The bath was delightful, with a charming open-air bath and a comfortable indoor bath as well. However, one disappointment was the small size of the window in the Room. Perhaps because it was on the third floor, but despite having a spacious Room, the small window lacked an open feel. I had imagined being surrounded by lush greenery, so personally, that aspect was disappointing.

    The building and Room interiors are slightly dated, but the quality of service and cuisine made up for it. The service was attentive without being excessive, with thoughtful details, and the meals were not overly elaborate Ryokan-style dishes but focused on bringing out the best in the ingredients. It was a satisfying stay.

    Among the ryokans I'...

    Among the ryokans I've stayed at in this price range, the cuisine here was the most delicious. The service was excellent, and the view of the garden from the private open-air bath in the room was beautiful. I enjoyed a relaxing stay at this quiet and serene adult-oriented accommodation. Thank you very much. However, as the facility is old, it would be great if just the bathroom and toilet in the room could be renovated. The cleaning is thorough, so there were no issues with cleanliness. I would love to visit again!

    It was surprising.

    Based on reviews, we decided to stay at this accommodation. However, despite our initial excitement, we left with a deep sense of disappointment. As avid travelers, this was the first time we ended a trip feeling so let down. The issues primarily revolved around the meals and customer service. On the second night of our two-night stay, we requested additional condiments during dinner and kept some aside for later use. However, without confirming with us, the staff cleared them away. When we asked for more condiments during the next course, we were told by the staff that "the head chef has stated that they cannot provide them again." We returned to our room after dinner only to find that the rain shutters on our window had been closed without prior notice or request from us. When I asked for them to be opened as I wanted to enjoy looking outside, I was told they were closed because "if it rains later, water might come in." At that moment though, it wasn’t raining at all! Additionally, they mentioned past complaints about noise from flowing water outside as another reason for closing them preemptively—something I felt should have been communicated beforehand. When opening these shutters again upon my request (which required fully opening the glass windows), mosquitoes entered our room in large numbers overnight; both my family and I were bitten repeatedly and couldn’t sleep well. At checkout in the morning when asking about restrictions regarding condiment requests during meals—specifically why there seemed such limitations—the response shocked me: “This is an upscale place using expensive condiments; therefore additional servings are limited.” This explanation left me even more disappointed since it implied assumptions based solely on price rather than guest satisfaction. Furthermore while returning back towards rooms carrying luggage alongside children no assistance nor acknowledgment came from any staff present leading eventually dropping items awkwardly mid-hallway struggling alone handling everything simultaneously! Lastly reflecting inside car ride home realized hadn’t eaten main dish highlight Unagi Kabayaki served previous evening distracted managing child forgot entirely noticing plates removed silently unnoticed earlier meal session altogether adding final layer dissatisfaction overall experience conclusion unlikely revisit future occasions similar establishments thereafter

    Clear your mind and body.

    I took my elderly mother-in-law on a trip as a gesture of filial piety. Although it felt like an excuse for not being able to do the same for my own parents while they were alive, the excellent hospitality of the Ryokan staff completely dispelled those feelings. We were soothed by the mildly alkaline Onsen, and the meals, with their considerate portions and quality for seniors, left us thoroughly satisfied.

    Favorite Accommodation

    It was a very good accommodation. In an era where many places rely heavily on facilities and tend to overdo it, this place truly provided a moving experience for which I am grateful. The view from the room, the meals, and the bath were all wonderful. The only thing that caught my attention was that if there are no vending machines, I would have liked the contents of the room's refrigerator to be more abundant. Also, having a coffee machine in the room would make it perfect—just my personal thought. I hope these points will be considered in the future. Still, this is an excellent accommodation for taking a break for your heart. My only additional wish is that prices do not increase further than they are now. I will visit again in June, so thank you in advance for your hospitality at that time as well!

    Family Trip

    I visited with my adult children. Both my children and I enjoyed delicious food and drinks, spending a relaxing and enjoyable time. The staff subtly adjusted the timing of the dishes to match our drinking pace, allowing us to dine at our own rhythm. One point for improvement is that there were few power outlets in the Room. I would love to visit again.

    The meals and Onsen were excellent. However, there were a few concerns with the service. It would have been nice if the bath was prepared with hot water at check-in. Given the quality of the spring water, this was disappointing. Additionally, regarding meal service, it was sometimes slightly earlier or later than the designated time, which, though minor, was noticeable. The water facilities are well-maintained; however, overall Facility updates would enhance comfort as they feel outdated. Perhaps staying in a different Room might have left a different impression.

    A lovely Ryokan

    It was a truly wonderful accommodation. I stayed there while pregnant, and the thoughtful care provided made my stay warm and happy. The delicious dinner and breakfast, meticulous cleanliness, and the warm hospitality of the staff filled me with gratitude. Both the private bath in the room and the large public bath, as well as the views, were exceptional. I would love to stay here again.

    Relaxing Accommodation

    The food was delicious, and the staff's hospitality was excellent, making it an accommodation that met all expectations. The open-air bath was especially wonderful with its spaciousness and perfect water temperature, offering a truly blissful experience. The room, though old, was clean and spacious, allowing for a comfortable stay. While some areas like the plumbing, ceiling, and parts of the walls showed signs of aging (which I understand adds to the unique charm of the accommodation), it might be worth gradually renovating where possible. Additionally, while nostalgic items like old-fashioned pots matched the room's atmosphere and added charm, perhaps providing coffee machines in each room could be considered as a service enhancement. This seems much easier to implement than renovations and would be greatly appreciated if considered.

    A wonderful property with a nostalgic charm

    We visited with my elderly parents and husband, and it became an unforgettable trip thanks to the heartwarming hospitality. Upon arrival, a female staff member in uniform noticed that my parents had difficulty walking and immediately provided a wheelchair. I was first surprised by the speed and kindness of this consideration. Furthermore, although we had reserved a room on the first floor for my parents, they noticed there was a step and kindly advised us, "How about changing the room?" which we truly appreciated. During meals, they prepared a higher table in our room for us and also provided beds so that my parents could relax comfortably. The cuisine was as exquisite as rumored! Every dish was delicate and beautiful, making us feel happy with every bite. The bath was an amazing semi-open-air bath. We enjoyed leisurely time soaking in the pleasant water. The room was meticulously clean everywhere, reflecting their attentive care. Above all else, the warm hospitality of all the staff members was moving. I realized this is truly Japan's "spirit of hospitality." It is indeed an excellent Onsen Ryokan where you can stay safely with elderly parents. Both my parents and husband repeatedly said they would like to visit again, and I feel exactly the same way. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who made this wonderful trip possible.     The dimness of the l...

    The dimness of the lobby before check-in made me realize it was an excellent Ryokan. Including the Room I stayed in, the Sukiya-zukuri style could be seen everywhere, creating a calm atmosphere. The bathhouse had a spacious open-air bath, and the water felt good on the skin, making it very pleasant. The cuisine was clearly Kyoto-style from both the menu description and taste. I especially enjoyed breakfast; the miso soup with rich clam flavor and exquisite dried horse mackerel were outstanding. I received an invitation to the bar on 4F and thought about having port wine or cognac as a nightcap, but it was slightly disappointing that most of them were Scotch-based. It was a comfortable stay.     Dream Stays

    I was finally able to visit Yagyu no Sho, which I had longed to visit for some time. The hospitality with the spirit of Bushido, the refined beauty of Japan in the design, and the dignified atmosphere flowing through the property made me unconsciously straighten my back. I believe there will be detailed updates in the future, but since there is a core of "hospitality with the spirit of Bushido," I felt that there is an unchanging Japanese aesthetic here. As for the cuisine, food exploration is my life's work, but it was more delicious than any kaiseki meal I've ever had! The onsen and salon were also very good. I would like to visit at least once a year during different seasons. Thank you very much.

    The Facility is old,...

    The Facility is old, but it was well-maintained and a good Property as imagined. Above all, it was quiet, with few opportunities to interact with other guests, making for a comfortable stay. The cuisine was refined in terms of ingredients, with a wide variety of dishes, and was very satisfying. I expected it to be a top-class Stays, but the service was average. Overall, it is about a 3 to 4. At this price, I don't think I would use it again.

    Enjoy delicious cuisine and Onsen

    Dinner was delivered to the room one dish at a time, and the food was very delicious. The bath was also an Onsen with a large cypress indoor bath, and the large public bath had both an open-air and indoor Onsen that were very pleasant.

    This is my fifth stay. I was impressed by the autumn leaves season, so I visited again aiming for this time of year. The autumn leaves from the open-air bath were truly wonderful, and I enjoyed entering it many times. The room this time was one I had stayed in before, with a large guest room open-air bath, and it was very pleasant. Just one point this time... I think it can't be helped, but the person in charge seemed to be a newcomer, and there were many things that caught my attention. I spent my time thinking that everyone is a newcomer at first, so I should be lenient. However, since I am staying to spend my time slowly and peacefully, I feel it would have been nice if the property could have considered having two staff members or something similar.
