    It was a wonderful time!!!

    I chose this place to treat my mother to the Summit Dinner Course for her birthday. Everything was outstanding—the beautiful presentation and the taste! The view from the Room on the 3rd floor and from the bath was also wonderful. Since we had an elderly family member with us, we really appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as a non-slip mat in the tub and a chair. We were extremely satisfied, and our whole family had a truly happy time. Thank you so much!

    We had a wonderful stay.

    From the welcoming reception to the light snacks in the top-floor lounge and the pleasantly warm pool, everything made for a wonderful stay. We were able to relax in a spacious Room. When we mentioned ingredients we don’t eat, you kindly prepared alternative dishes with great care, and we were extremely satisfied with the full French course. We must have visited on a good day—the sunset and twilight over Ago Bay made the meal even more special. The breakfast course was also highly satisfying and truly impressed us. The view from our first-floor Room was a bit disappointing, but we didn’t have much time to enjoy the view anyway, so it wasn’t an issue. Thank you very much.

    A Wonderful Holiday

    I was finally able to stay at Shima Kanko Hotel The Bay Suite, which I had long admired. It was an even more wonderful holiday than I expected. The staff’s service, the cuisine, and the Room were all outstanding—I was truly impressed. If I have the opportunity, I would love to visit again.     A Beautiful Journey Through Ise-Shima

    I have stayed here several times, and the consistently delicious meals and the beautiful, spacious Room always make my stay feel truly satisfying. The surrounding scenery is lovely, and it is quiet and relaxing. In the garden at night, I had the wonderful experience of gazing at a star-filled sky and even seeing the Milky Way. The staff were all kind and calm in their service, making this a wonderful trip. The next day, I went out to Anorisaki Cape.

    It was exactly as expected.

    Our summer vacation plans had to be rearranged due to a typhoon. So we decided on short notice to stay at Bay Suite, which had caught our interest ever since we stayed at Classic before. The Hotel’s hospitality was excellent, and the Room was more than comfortable for relaxing. The large public bath was never crowded and was always well maintained. The club floor, where light snacks were available, was also very pleasant and helped us feel refreshed. We were very satisfied with the delicious breakfast as well—it gave us great energy for the day. We would love to visit again.

    The Finest Hospitality

    I was truly moved to see firsthand the historic venue where the G7 meeting was held. Dinner was outstanding, with the chef’s passion for ingredients evident in every detail. From Room 2001, where the UK delegation stayed, I enjoyed superb views and complete relaxation. I believe this is one of Japan’s leading Hotels.

    Outstanding hospitality

    We stayed for two nights. It happened to be the hottest days of my fairly long life—unlucky timing in a way. With the extreme heat forcing us to change our sightseeing plans, what we appreciated most was the outstanding service and hospitality at the Hotel. Not only during our stay but even after checkout, you kindly stored our luggage and even suggested delivering it to the station to match our train time (even though we were only using another Hotel for a day-use bath). Thanks to your thoughtful consideration, we were able to avoid unnecessary travel in the heat. Of course, we loved the Room size (comfortably spacious), the view (a truly out-of-the-ordinary景色), and the food (high quality overall; personally, I found the broth in soups exceptional). But I believe what ultimately made the biggest impression was decisively the high standard of your service. With hopes for even more in future, I have two small requests: 1) The lounge snacks are already well stocked with sweets (the small marron chocolates were excellent; it would be even better if the macarons were a bit less sweet). If there were also some cheese (individually wrapped candy cheese would be sufficient), we could have enjoyed it even more with sparkling wine. 2) The packaged amenity set of cotton swabs, cotton pads, and hair ties isn’t something we use completely every time. When opening a pack just for one swab, I couldn’t help wondering whether the rest ends up being discarded. Especially in大浴場 areas, it would feel easier to use if these items were provided individually. Thank you very much for such a wonderful stay. We hope to visit again in a better season.

    As always

    As always, we visit to enjoy the delicious food. This time as well, we had a wonderful dinner by Chef Higuchi. For breakfast, we go to Classic Buffet to eat. All the staff welcome us with smiles, making this a very pleasant Hotel. It is expensive, but I recommend it.

    There was no turndown service. At dinner at La Mer, an elderly guest repeatedly stood up to take photos of the scenery with a high-performance camera, and the shutter sound could be heard many times whenever a dish was served. It was distracting and made it hard to relax. I also wish more effort had gone into the 20,000-yen pairing. Perhaps I am not very perceptive, but I did not feel any special or luxurious touch, and although I thought I was staying at a first-class Hotel, I was somewhat disappointed.

    Brahms in Shima Time

    This time, we stayed in the Bay Suite and also enjoyed the dining. Our conversation with the sommelier at La Mer was truly delightful. When I asked why the same dish tasted subtly different between La Mer and La Mer The Classic, they shared some behind-the-scenes stories. It felt like a “secret ingredient,” and it made for a wonderfully fun and delicious experience. Before checkout, we visited our usual spot at The Classic, took in the gentle breeze flowing through the building, and headed to the club lounge. In the listening room, we tried out the newly updated Marantz SACD player with a Brahms symphony before heading to “Shimakaze.” We had planned a relaxed one-night, two-day stay doing nothing in particular, but it turned into an all-too-quick and wonderful “Shima time” (the photo shows Rangoon creeper decorations displayed throughout the property).

    The three of us stayed here to celebrate a special occasion. The Hotel has a very calm atmosphere, and the thoughtful care shown by all the staff in every area felt natural and truly heartwarming. We have stayed at many Hotels before, but we are genuinely glad we chose this Hotel.

    Retreat

    A relaxing trip to revisit Ise after a long time, in between business trips to Kyoto. On the first day, I visited Geku Shrine and then headed to Kashikojima. It was earlier than check-in time, but I truly appreciated the Shuttle Service from Kashikojima Station. Thank you as well for changing dinner to an earlier time than my original Reservation. With the pairing, the meal was filled with rich local flavors from Ise, and each dish was delicate and beautifully presented—something only a female executive chef could create. For the pairing, you also selected excellent wines. Being able to enjoy an unforgettable early birthday trip on my own at this Hotel—where my mother stayed with our family several times during her lifetime—was truly priceless.

    A Luxurious Stay

    I stayed one night in the Omakase Suite (with breakfast). Unfortunately, it rained so I couldn’t see a beautiful sunset or sunrise, but the spacious (about 100 m²), clean, and very comfortable bathroom made it an absolutely wonderful stay. The Hotel’s hospitality and service were also pleasant, with friendly smiles. Although I arrived a little after 1:00 p.m. on the “Shimakaze” train—earlier than expected—they kindly showed me to my Room, and I was able to use the lounge as well, which immediately lifted my spirits. I used the lounge during the day and in the evening. The selection and amount of soft drinks and alcohol were more than sufficient, but I did wish there were a bit more variety and quantity in the light snacks (hors d’oeuvres). I understand this Hotel is known for its restaurant (La Mer), but I noticed there were many pancakes, sweet treats, and packaged snacks. Since there weren’t many guests staying at the time, I also thought it might be nice if they offered hors d’oeuvres on a one-item-per-person basis. Breakfast at La Mer was small in portion size but felt truly luxurious. The gratin was delicious. Overall, I’m very satisfied to have spent such a relaxing and indulgent time here.     Dinner

    Thank you very much for taking care of us. The Facility, the Room, and the staff’s demeanor and service were all very pleasant. As for the meals—especially dinner—I understand that my palate may not be particularly refined and that costs must be taken into consideration, but it is also true that none of the dishes left a lasting impression. Perhaps this was due to the large number of courses. I couldn’t help thinking that even at half the price, I could fully enjoy a comparable meal in central Tokyo. We chose the drink pairing as well, and although the sommelier spoke at length about things like “a bottle with only XX available from a certain place” or “ranked No. X from somewhere,” it was difficult for a layperson to appreciate how exceptional they were. It was JPY 20,000 per person—three people in total, so JPY 60,000—and I wondered if ordering by the bottle might have been more reasonable. Toward the end of the meal, the chef came over to greet us personally, but he looked extremely tired and it was painful to see. I don’t believe there was a dress code, but there was also a family accompanied by a young woman in a miniskirt who did not seem appropriately dressed; it made me question the restaurant’s standards.

    A Gourmet Hotel

    This Hotel is, above all, a gourmet destination, and I always look forward to staying here. Dinner at La Mer lets you enjoy local ingredients in a variety of styles and flavors. Thanks to the wonderful cuisine and the attentive service from the staff, we had a truly lovely time. The Eggs Benedict at breakfast is a favorite of mine, so I enjoyed it again this time as well. This is a Hotel I would definitely like to visit again.

    A Cozy Hotel

    This Hotel is my favorite for its comfortable, user-friendly Rooms. This time, I tried Lien’s omelet seafood rice set menu that I had been curious about for a while, and it was just as I expected—delicious and very satisfying. I also love the cheesecake dessert. The staff at Lien were very attentive, and I was able to enjoy a pleasant time. Each item on the Japanese breakfast menu was satisfying and perfect for the morning. The staff there were also courteous, making it a great start to the day.

    This is the first time I’ve been disappointed.

    Every year, I make it a point to stay here for several years in a row as a reward to myself. It is a special place for me—one I love so much that I feel it is worth taking the time to travel from Tokyo. This stay supports me emotionally and helps me work hard throughout the year. However, at checkout, the staff member who assisted me was rude. Even after I paid, they did not say “thank you” or “how was your stay.” There was no conversation at all. They kept looking at their computer with an annoyed attitude. I was left stunned, wondering whether the checkout had actually been completed; since I had my card statement, I assumed it was finished. There was also no guidance for seeing me off—they just kept looking at their computer. I felt left behind and alone. It was sad, and it made me feel that this may no longer be an important place for me anymore.

    A Hotel That Exceeds Expectations

    Once again, it exceeded my expectations. Just being able to relax in the lounge with its wonderful view makes the stay worthwhile. Meals at La Mer—both breakfast and dinner—were presented in a variety of cooking styles, with enjoyable touches throughout, and even the menu cards were thoughtfully done. I have kept three of them, including previous ones. I’d love to return again soon to add to my collection. As this was a Multiple Night Stay, my dietary dislikes had been noted in advance, and I truly appreciated that consideration.

    My Favorite Hotel

    I always find myself thinking that this Hotel is still my favorite. The views from the Room, lounge, restaurant, and rooftop garden are outstanding. As always, the Room was spacious and relaxing; the vanity area was bright, and the bedding was excellent. The mineral water on the table is also something special. Unfortunately, the lounge felt noisier than last time—someone was even sleeping there in shorts with their stomach exposed—and used dishes and glasses were left on almost every table, to the point that I didn’t know where to sit. This had never happened before, so I couldn’t help but feel that inbound tourism may have had some impact. This time I also visited Shima Kanko Hotel and was able to see various exhibits. I bought some souvenirs such as bread and room fragrance to take home. I definitely want to come back again someday.

    A Luxurious Hotel for Adults with Exceptional Hospitality

    I stayed with my parents as a way to show appreciation. The FUTON Suite allowed the three of us to stay together in one Room, making it perfect for enjoying private family time. From the balcony, you can take in a breathtaking panoramic view of Ago Bay. After relaxing in the large public bath, we enjoyed a degustation course at the French restaurant “La Mer.” While making the most of traditional ingredients, the chef reimagined them into modern French dishes that were visually delightful and pleasantly balanced in flavor—not too heavy. I briefly mentioned that my parents were celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary (the Emerald Anniversary), and the staff kindly shared this with the kitchen. To our surprise, they decorated the dessert plate with “Happy Wedding Anniversary 55th” along with a rose design drawn in chocolate and jelly—my parents were truly thrilled. Beyond the outstanding quality of the cuisine, it’s the exceptional hospitality that elevates this restaurant even further. That same level of hospitality was evident throughout the Hotel among every staff member. It was an Accommodation where adults can unwind and enjoy a refined, luxurious stay with truly memorable experiences. I sincerely hope to return.

    To another option at Shima Kanko Hotel: “The Bay Suite”

    My curiosity started when I stayed at “Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic,” the venue for the G7 Ise-Shima Summit, and wondered what that building in the distance seen from the window was—was it a Hotel, or something else? That led me to visit “Shima Kanko Hotel The Bay Suite.” Last time I came by car, but this time I took the Kintetsu Limited Express. By car, I hadn’t really understood how everything was laid out, but after getting into the pick-up car at Kashikojima Station, we quickly entered the Hotel grounds, passed by the familiar “The Classic,” and found “The Bay Suite” further in. What an expansive property. The Room was more than spacious enough, and we were able to enjoy a wonderful escape from everyday life. Dinner exceeded expectations—every dish served was outstanding, and we could take our time and truly enjoy the meal. During dinner, Chef Higuchi came to our table to greet us. I’m glad we had a chance to speak briefly. This time, despite being well past seventy, we ordered a luxurious course and both ended up eating too much. But since it’s so delicious, you can’t help wanting to eat it all—we even joked that it would be great if there were an option like an “elderly choice,” where you could keep the same quality while reducing the portions. This trip was mainly a one-night stay for visiting Ise Shrine again, but this is a Hotel where one night feels like a waste—between relaxing in the lounge and enjoying the gardens. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the large bath that we only learned about upon arrival. After finishing our visit to Ise Shrine next time, staying here for two nights seems ideal so we can fully enjoy everything. And since there are two properties with different atmospheres—“The Classic” and “The Bay Suite”—staying one night at each also sounds like a great idea. So now I have something new to look forward to as I plan my next visit to Ise Shrine. Thank you very much for your hospitality again.

    It was comfortable.

    A spacious, comfortable Room with an ocean view, and a relaxing breakfast enjoyed while looking out over the sea and forest. Dinner by Chef Higuchi is a truly rare experience. Highly recommended.

    Overall, I was very satisfied. However, it was disappointing that the food in the lounge was temporarily unavailable at times. I would have liked the quality of the drinks and food to be a bit higher.

    It was delicious.

    The abalone was unforgettable. We’ve had abalone in many places, but the steak here was the very best—truly exceptional. My husband and I are already saying we want to come back. Of course, the location is wonderful, and the service and the Room were great as well. If I could make one request, it would be to have a chair and a small side table on the balcony so we could enjoy a beer while taking in the inlet sea and the beautiful greenery of the peninsula stretching out into it.

    The Bay Suite was a luxurious space to relax and recharge.

    As I did last year, I stayed here again on my 4-night, 5-day trip to Ise-Shima and Nachi. Last year, I spent one night at Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic and was so absorbed in experiencing the architectural beauty and history of the building designed by Togo Murano that I actively explored the property and took photos nonstop. On top of that, the Hotel alarm clock was broken and I overslept, nearly missing the morning architecture tour—so breakfast was rushed and I didn’t have time to relax. This time, I stayed for two nights (3rd night at Bay Suite, 4th night at The Classic) and truly enjoyed a hotel-like experience. For rooms, I stayed in a “Superior Suite Twin” at Bay Suite and an “Ambassador Suite Twin” at The Classic. For dinner, I had “Elegance” at Bay Suite and “Elegant Dinner” at The Classic. It was wonderful to experience each Hotel’s traditions and luxury—the changes through time—and the different styles of relaxing spaces. The Bay Suite room is spacious and offers a sense of ultimate modern luxury. However, when it comes to human-scale warmth and gentleness, I believe that belongs to The Classic’s Murano architecture where tradition and modernism are beautifully blended. As this was my third night of travel fatigue, the wide-open space of Bay Suite—surrounded by nature with breathtaking views over Ago Bay—allowed me to unwind in unhurried time. Taking a bath while facing the sunset right in front of me felt incredible; it was an unmatched resort setting for deep relaxation. Experiencing these two Hotels together—the luxurious refreshment of Bay Suite followed by The Classic’s fusion of traditional-and-modern architectural beauty with French cuisine—made me feel this is a one-of-a-kind resort where you can enjoy many extraordinary moments in harmony with nature. That said, it was disappointing that due to renovation work on The Club, I couldn’t use “Lian.”

    It was wonderful in a word.

    This was my first stay here on the way back from visiting Ise Grand Shrine, and it exceeded all expectations. What impressed me most was the dining—each dish reflected Chef Higuchi’s heartfelt hospitality, and I was truly moved. Every course was delicious, with thoughtful attention to detail throughout, making it a very special experience. The staff’s hospitality was also outstanding, and I felt comfortable from arrival to departure. I would love to stay again. Thank you for such a wonderful time.
