  Relaxation After Golf

  I stayed at Ne no Hana at Otoiroka no Toki once a long time ago, and because all Rooms are separate villas with spacious, relaxing interiors, I chose to stay again after a round of golf. I was very satisfied with the thoughtful service from the staff. The meals were also excellent, and it was great that additional dishes could be ordered separately. Above all, the head chef personally came to greet us and brought homemade pickles—I enjoyed them so much that I asked for seconds three times. The way the natural flavors of the ingredients were highlighted while still being refined deserves high praise. This Accommodation is highly recommended for anyone who wants to spend quiet, private time. At check-out we were seen off, and it was my first time ever to be personally seen off by the head chef as well. His smile was wonderful and made me want to come back again without hesitation. Since I’m a big foodie, I tend to rate an Accommodation based on its meals; from the very first dish I felt confident it would be great—and in fact I returned to my Room completely full and satisfied. I hope to stop by again around early autumn. Thank you very much for everything.

  It was a wonderful accommodation.

  Our stay coincided with rainy weather due to an approaching typhoon. The moment we stepped into the detached cottage, we were welcomed by the soothing aroma of hinoki cypress. The open-air bath was already filled, and each Room had its air conditioning set to a comfortable temperature. The staff kindly guided us through the Room, and everywhere we looked was spotless and thoughtfully prepared, allowing us to relax in complete comfort. The dining experience was also wonderful, with beautiful tableware. When we asked about it, the staff told us this Accommodation has a 100-year history and has been at this location for 19 years. They also shared that some of the tableware has been used since earlier days, which made our conversation even more enjoyable. Both the flavor and presentation of each dish were excellent. The portions were generous, and when we left the restaurant we were even given onigiri as a late-night snack—so I recommend arriving with an appetite. Although it was rainy, we could still hear insects and birds outside. The open-air bath also has a roof, so we were able to enjoy the Onsen without any worries at all. The Accommodation itself was outstanding, but what impressed us most was the staff’s polished manners and heartfelt hospitality. We are truly grateful to have stayed at such a wonderful place—and it is an Accommodation that makes you want to return just to see the staff again.

  Perfect.

  Surrounded by lush greenery, it was truly relaxing. The open-air bath attached to the Room was spacious, and we were able to unwind. The hospitality was outstanding, and the head chef personally saw us off. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

  It always makes me feel at ease.

  We were finally able to enjoy watching the fireflies we had been looking forward to. Thank you for guiding us while lighting the way at our feet.   The Luxury of Doing Nothing

  We visited during the season of fresh greenery, and we were blessed with great weather—it was the perfect getaway. The meals were excellent, and the head chef was very friendly. The Room was great overall, but the private open-air bath attached to the Room was especially amazing. We could relax at our own pace while looking out over the beautiful garden and listening to nature’s sounds. Even on the way to this Accommodation, you can enjoy classic Japanese scenery. Of course, impressions may vary depending on the season and weather, but I’m sure the warmth of the staff never changes—so if you’re looking for relaxation, I think this is an ideal Accommodation. 　That said, I felt it was a shame about the space on the 2nd floor of the main building where you’re allowed to bring your own coffee. There isn’t much of a view, and I thought it would be far better to just relax in your Room instead. 　We were able to see some fireflies (not many), which was nice. The uneven table tennis was also surprisingly fun—and it gets pretty competitive. When we managed a 10-hit rally, my wife and I high-fived each other. Once you get used to it, you can make it work somehow.

  A relaxing Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

  I first stayed here in late March 2025 and had such an unforgettable time that I was able to return again this time for a 2-night, 3-day stay in May 2026. Just like last time, the staff’s kind and attentive hospitality immediately put me at ease, and I spent the entire stay feeling warmly welcomed. The meals were also absolutely delicious, and for a Multiple Night Stay they prepared different dishes from the previous day, which made every meal something to look forward to. This visit also happened to coincide with firefly season, and seeing both Hime fireflies and Genji (Heike) fireflies was truly memorable. It was my first time ever seeing Hime fireflies—so magical and beautiful that it has become a precious memory I will never forget. The gentle sound of the stream heard from the Room was incredibly soothing, and it was such a calm, relaxing space that I found myself happily lounging in the Room and losing track of time. Access has also become much more convenient thanks to newly improved roads. By car, it took about 30 minutes from Miyazaki Airport (around JPY 300 one way). If traveling by train, they provide Shuttle Service to/from Kitago Station as well, which is very reassuring. However, since trains are infrequent, I recommend checking the timetable in advance. One slightly sad piece of news: I heard that the nearby footbath café will be closing at the end of this May. It had been one of my favorite parts of staying here, so I’m truly disappointed it will be gone. Because this is a nature-rich area, guests who are not fond of insects may prefer staying during cooler seasons. Also, since the Onsen warms your body thoroughly over time, those who tend to feel hot may find it more comfortable to bring lightweight sleepwear. Thank you again for another wonderful stay. I would love to return again.

The area is also known as a treasure trove of mosses that Dr. Hattori considered his home ground, creating an enchanting and beautiful moss forest.   Golden Week Accommodation

  Thank you very much for having us. In recent years, we have spent Golden Week at Onsen Accommodations in the Tohoku region, but with frequent bear sightings, earthquakes, and wildfires, we decided to look for an Onsen Accommodation in Kyushu—where there are no bears—surrounded by forest, and chose to stay here this time. The Accommodation Fee was very reasonable for Golden Week, so I was honestly a little concerned at first; however, we were extremely satisfied with everything—the Facility, hospitality, meals, Onsen, and the natural setting. I already recommended your Onsen Accommodation to my friends yesterday. Since our Room was surrounded by beautiful autumn foliage trees even now, we would love to visit again in the fall.

  Thank you very much for traveling such a long way to visit Nichinan Kitago in early summer, and for staying at the secluded forest Accommodation, “Nemu no Hana.” Here in the Inohae Valley, Japan’s second-largest evergreen broadleaf forest zone—spreading since 12,000 years ago—still remains. The area has been designated by the Kyushu Regional Forest Office as a “Evergreen Broadleaf Forest Biotic Community Protection Forest,” and is also Miyazaki Prefecture’s only site selected as one of “Japan’s Precious Moss Forests.” Mr. Yokoyama of the Japan Nature Conservation Society praised this place as a “miracle forest,” noting how rare it is for such a pristine environment to remain. This forest is also certified as a forest therapy base, where scientifically proven healing effects—such as stabilized blood pressure, reduced pulse rate, and improved autonomic nervous system function—have been confirmed. In autumn, we hope you will also look forward to seasonal highlights such as endangered species including Kibana-no-Hototogisu (yellow toad lily), along with vivid crimson foliage that evokes the poetic travel spirit of Verlaine.   I was able to spend a comfortable time surrounded by nature.

  I chose a trip to Kyushu as a destination for my husband’s 60th birthday, hoping to visit Miyazaki again after several decades. I wished we could catch the cherry blossoms at their best, and we were truly lucky to see beautiful blooms at just the right time, along with fields of renge flowers that I remembered from childhood. At the Accommodation, we were soothed by the lush greenery, birdsong, and the sound of the river. The open-air bath helped melt away our everyday fatigue, and we were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay. Every dish was delicious, and we also enjoyed the beautiful tableware and presentation. The head chef’s pickles were outstanding. Thank you for the 60th birthday celebration plate!! It became a wonderful memory. The breakfast bread was also excellent. All of the staff had such a gentle presence, and their natural hospitality felt very comfortable. It was such a lovely Accommodation that I would love to return during firefly season or when the autumn leaves are at their peak...

  Miyazaki

  This was my first stay in Miyazaki! All of the staff were warm and welcoming, and their attentiveness was wonderful—an excellent Accommodation. There’s nothing unnecessary here; it’s a place that brings healing, peace of mind, and renewed energy. The food was exceptionally delicious, and even the wild mountain vegetables were amazing! The head chef’s homemade pickles were also outstanding—I had them many times, and they kindly kept serving them to me. They even shared the recipe with me, so I’m going to try making them right away. The world’s most difficult table tennis table... I’ll come back next time to take on the challenge! LOL I’ll take good care of the moss terrarium I purchased and try to grow it well. Thank you very much for everything.

  It was a blissful time.

  A few years ago, I stayed at this accommodation and had such a wonderful experience that I was determined to return. From the moment I made the reservation, I was looking forward to it. With only 10 rooms available, we hardly encountered other guests and were able to enjoy a private and relaxing time. The onsen in our room, accompanied by the sound of wild birds chirping, was absolutely amazing. The temperature of the onsen was perfect, and I ended up soaking in it six times! The meals were not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making dining an enjoyable experience. I especially loved the pickles made by the head chef—I wish they were sold in a shop! Being able to choose between Japanese or Western-style breakfast was also great; the fluffy bread from the Western breakfast was incredibly tasty. Above all else, the staff's hospitality was outstanding once again, allowing us to have another blissful stay. Next time, I would love to plan for a multiple night stay!

  The best accommodation experience.

  We had the pleasure of staying at your accommodation during our trip, and from before check-in to the farewell, we experienced the highest level of hospitality, making this the most wonderful trip we've ever had. While other ryokans also accommodate meal requests, it was our first time receiving such a warm acceptance along with words of gratitude for our request. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but you also remembered our conversation about fireflies and kindly paused the course to guide us at just the right moment when they began to appear. Thanks to this thoughtful gesture, we were able to witness fireflies dancing for the first time in over 30 years. Despite delaying the course's conclusion as a result, everyone—including even your chef—came out to see us off at the end. We felt truly grateful and deeply touched by this kindness. The farewell upon checkout was equally courteous and heartwarming, leaving both of us in agreement that this was undoubtedly our best experience among all ryokans we've visited during past travels. We hope to create another opportunity to visit on a special occasion in the future; until then, we wish everyone at your accommodation good health and happiness!

  On a fresh and vibrant day of new greenery

  Enjoy the soothing sound of the river while exploring a spacious, greenery-filled property adorned with well-maintained moss and orchids. Each dish, enhanced by garnishes made from natural materials, showcased the chef's creativity and made this trip truly delightful. Soon, fireflies will dance along the stream within the grounds.   Room is spacious and clean, the moss garden is excellent. The staff were all friendly and communicative. The open-air bath with a view of the mountain stream is superb.

  I visit every year at the same time, but this year's autumn leaves were more beautiful than I've ever seen before, and I was deeply moved. As always, the stay was wonderful, starting with the meals, and with the presence of new staff, I felt a refreshing new atmosphere in the facility, making it a very pleasant experience.   Perfect

  The property offers impeccable facilities. The room interior, the onsen with an open-air bath, the meal content, and the staff's hospitality are all perfect.
