    A long-established inn with a distinguished atmosphere

    I visited again for the first time in a while, and once again I was reminded how much I love this Accommodation—the Onsen suits my skin perfectly. This time, I stayed in the long-admired Hounenmushi. Surrounded by nature, I was able to enjoy the Onsen quietly and at a leisurely pace.\nThe staff were also extremely courteous, which helped me relax even more. They kindly allowed me to tour the new building as well; it was wonderful, and I’m definitely considering staying there next time.\nIf Reservations could also be made through IKYU, that would make me very happy.

    Heartfelt hospitality

    From the time of our Reservation through arrival, our stay, and departure, we truly experienced the attentive hospitality of a long-established luxury Accommodation. For my father, who has difficulty walking, we requested a wheelchair at the time of Reservation, and they also prepared floor chairs in our tatami Room. In addition, a ramp was set up at the dining venue, so we never felt inconvenienced or needed to ask for anything further. The meals made excellent use of seasonal ingredients; it was all about quality over quantity, and we were completely satisfied. The hinoki bath in the Room was spacious enough that my father—who feels uneasy about using large public baths—could relax and enjoy the Onsen at his own pace, which truly moved him. Touched by the warm hospitality of everyone at the Accommodation, our whole family would love to return.

    Premium Onsen

    Enjoyed the high-quality Onsen. The in-room bath also had Onsen water just by turning on the tap, so we were able to enjoy both the large public bath and the in-room bath. The matcha tea and sweets served right after arriving at our Room, as well as the milk near the large public bath, were delightful touches. If possible, it would have been nice to have coffee available in the Room. Also, while we received two yukata, having samue loungewear would be even more helpful. The meals featured seasonal ingredients and were delicious. We would love to visit again for another exceptional Onsen experience.

    It was a memorable flower-viewing trip.

    We toured from Koshu to Shinshu, watching the weather and enjoying peach, cherry, and apricot blossoms. This was our first stay at Hounenmushi, and everything was very well maintained and comfortable. For some reason the indoor stone large public bath was quite lukewarm, but the wooden large public bath—both the open-air bath and the indoor bath—was excellent. The bath in our Room was a bit small, but we still enjoyed it many times. The meals were seasonal and just the right amount; everything at both dinner and breakfast was delicious. When I asked our attendant at dinner if there was anywhere to see almond blossoms, she kindly looked it up for us and carefully told us the next morning. On our way home we visited using Google Maps, and were thrilled to find almond trees in full bloom waiting for us. The exhibition at the Mizuno Museum of Art, which we learned about for the first time from a poster in the lobby, was also wonderful—making this an exceptionally luxurious early-spring flower trip.
