    The staff’s hospital...

    The staff’s hospitality was excellent. I booked a breakfast-included Plan, and the meal was beautifully presented, with delicious rice. At the on-site pastry shop, their desire for guests to truly enjoy the sweets really came through. I tried the silky pudding with vanilla beans and it was outstanding. It seems you can also buy pastries for takeout, so I’d like to stop by again when I visit Utsunomiya. Since weddings are held here as well, the lobby and other areas felt calm and pleasant. There is plenty of parking, so arriving by car was no concern at all.

    The breakfast is excellent.

    Could this be a building from Japan’s bubble era? The lobby has a classic European feel, and there are separate Japanese, Western, and Chinese restaurants, suggesting a strong focus on dining and banquets. Breakfast is offered as a choice between Japanese or Western; I chose the Western set, which was very satisfying, and the French toast was delicious. However, the guest rooms do not seem to have been renovated—plumbing areas and bedside amenities felt dated—though everything was kept very clean. Even for breakfast alone, I felt this price offered excellent value for what you get. The staff at the front desk and in the restaurant were attentive and left a very positive impression.

    It reminded me of 30 years ago.

    Since it opened, this is a Hotel I have used many times for stays, dining, banquets, and the bar. This time, it was difficult to feel the lively atmosphere it once had. At Fontana, I had a Western-style breakfast for the first time in a while, but I was disappointed that there were no food choices available.

    It is a good Hotel.

    I have been using this accommodation for nearly 30 years. This time, I stayed after several years but did not use the restaurant; however, the Chinese and Japanese cuisine are very delicious. Amenities like lotion were no longer provided in the room and are now available at the front desk. The room key has also been changed to a card type. It is an old hotel, but it is a very good hotel.

    Had a comfortable stay.

    I stayed on a weekday, and it was very quiet, reasonably priced, and comfortable. The reception staff were also very accommodating. Although it is a bit far from the station, it is not an issue if you have a car as the parking lot is spacious and easy to use. There are restaurants nearby, so it's convenient even if you don't dine within the hotel.

    A traditional and spacious large Hotel with a relaxing, expansive lobby.

    Located slightly away from the bustling downtown area, this traditional Hotel offers a quiet and relaxing stay, though taxi transportation is often required. The spacious lobby features plenty of sofas, making it convenient for meeting friends. It is also frequently used for academic conferences and weddings. While compact hotels are becoming more common these days, the retro-style spacious design reminiscent of the Showa era provides a calming atmosphere. The Room's shower has strong water pressure and is easy to use, while the bathtub is large and comfortable. I would love to stay here again when visiting Utsunomiya.

    Overall excellent.

    Traveling with a dog. Mr. Kezawa's support was truly outstanding. His thoughtful consideration regarding meals (allergies) warmed our hearts and made for a wonderful trip. Other staff members also provided warm and pleasant service with just the right level of attentiveness. The Room was thoroughly cleaned, allowing us to sleep comfortably. One concern was that the curtains were dirty, so it would be great if they could be replaced with new ones. Additionally, it would be nice to have upgraded Rooms available for guests traveling with dogs in the future. It was truly comfortable overall! We will definitely visit again during our next trip to Tochigi!

    Access from Utsunomiya Station:

    The reservation was for a non-smoking room, but it smelled of cigarettes, possibly from the previous guest. I wanted to open the window for ventilation, but it was locked. The room was changed for me.

    Stayed here the night before our Sunday trip to Nikko.

    This time, I stayed at the Hotel with a No Meals Included plan, checking in at 9 PM on Saturday to make the most of my sightseeing trip to Nikko the following day. Since it is not located near the station, I enjoyed a calm and quiet atmosphere. After driving for about two hours after work, I was able to relax and rest my body. It may sound impolite, but it felt like a "good old-fashioned hotel." At check-in, I had trouble with self-check-in but received assistance. The interior and corners of the Room showed some signs of age; however, it was equipped with all necessary amenities and did not bother me personally. That said, there were some concerns about safety—such as protruding metal parts on the sofa bed used by my child and metal fittings on the bed frame. Perhaps thicker mattresses could address these issues. The next day blessed us with good weather, allowing for a smooth checkout before heading off to enjoy sightseeing in Nikko. Next time, I'd like to try staying with breakfast included!

Factors such as ease of access, ease of parking, and space size play a significant role in choosing a Hotel, but most listings only provide basic information like the number of spaces available.     Unfortunately

    Both the Facility and Room are spacious, but signs of aging can be seen throughout. While older properties can be charming if well-maintained, this was not the case here. The service and meal presentation somehow felt reminiscent of the Showa era, lacking a modern touch.

    The breakfast was delicious.

    The building shows its age, but it has a solid and classic charm. The Room was spacious enough for a single, and the shower water pressure was excellent. However, there were some black stains on the bathtub caulking, which could be improved. I chose the Japanese-style breakfast, and it was delicious. Making tofu in a pot was an interesting touch. I would stay here again if I visit Utsunomiya. It would be great if the QR code reader for the self-check-in machine could be improved by then.

    The facilities are excellent, but it's unfortunate that there is no staff monitoring the lobby.

    The spacious atrium lobby and luxurious interior suggest that the building dates back to the bubble era, but necessary maintenance seems to have been carried out, as there was hardly any mold visible on the bathroom tiles in the Room. Breakfast was served in a set meal style, offering a calm dining experience compared to the increasing number of buffet-style Hotels prioritizing quantity over quality. However, the hot pot provided had sparse ingredients relative to its size. If cost constraints make improvement difficult, it might be better to discontinue it altogether and focus on enhancing other offerings like grilled mackerel by increasing its size and removing bones beforehand for better presentation. Similarly, with numerous small side dishes, from a food quality management perspective, reducing 2–3 items from the total selection and adding freshly prepared dishes from the kitchen could improve overall quality. Additionally, despite being far from the station, no taxis were waiting during morning hours around 8 AM—this should be addressed. It was also disappointing that reliance on machines for check-in and check-out has reduced staff presence; there were no bellmen or attentive personnel in sight within the spacious lobby or entrance area.

    Cold breakfast

    I stayed for two nights over the weekend, and for breakfast, you choose the time and whether you want Japanese or Western style at check-in. I chose Western style at 6:30. When I went to the dining room at the designated time, it was still dark inside and there were no other guests. Even though there were no other guests, I waited 10 minutes for the meal to be served, and except for the soup, the dishes were cold, and the butter on the toast didn't melt at all. On the second day, I ignored the designated time and went around 7:30. I was told it might take a little time because there was a group, but warm dishes were served 10 minutes later. In the end, since they weren't ready even with a 6:30 time slot, why not set the breakfast time to start from 7:00?

    I used it for the first time on a business trip. It was a bit far from the station, so a taxi was necessary, but the luxurious lobby floor and other areas made me feel rich, as expected from a grand Hotel. The guest room had some parts that couldn't hide its age, but it was clean and comfortable. I only had breakfast in the Hotel, and both Japanese and Western dishes were served in appropriate portions and were delicious. It is especially noticeable in rural areas, but it seems better to reserve a taxi in advance. The front desk staff responded accurately, but I thought it would be better if there was a shuttle bus to Utsunomiya Station.

    The only disappointment was the lack of a large public bath.

    The staff were all kind and gave us a warm welcome. I was planning to go to the large public bath as soon as I arrived, but there wasn't one. It was my misunderstanding, but it was disappointing. When I entered the Room, there was a slight smell, but the air purifier started working and it didn't bother me anymore. I was a bit disappointed that there was no complimentary water in the refrigerator. The Chinese dinner was visually appealing and very delicious, but perhaps because we were the only guests, the dishes were brought out one after another, making us feel rushed. For breakfast, we had both Western and Japanese meals for the two of us, and we were satisfied with both. Both dinner and breakfast had stylish presentation and deliciousness, and I thought the cost performance was very good.

    I like having tea in the atrium with a sense of openness and the British-style lounge with a solid feel. The Hotel staff are also pleasant and leave a good impression. It's not new, but it's well-cleaned, and the Room windows are large and pleasant. I often have Chinese food for lunch, and it's very delicious.

    There may be pros and cons to the amenities, but I agree with the SDGs initiatives. When I stay at a hotel, I bring my favorite items to avoid using the amenities. Dinner was Chinese. I thought the level of cuisine and service was high in the private room. Also, the front desk service was very pleasant. The hotel building is old, but the lobby has a sense of grandeur, and the room was clean. Since you have to go outside a bit from the parking lot to the hotel entrance, it might be inconvenient on rainy days. I often passed through Utsunomiya, so I was glad to find a good hotel.

    I have stayed at almost all the hotels in Utsunomiya City, but I have made this one my regular choice. It is not a new hotel, but it is comfortable, and the staff's service is pleasant. The Chinese restaurant allows me to enjoy a meal alone even at a late hour. The breakfast is also delicious. I remember a friend telling me, "It's far from the station, but the breakfast is good," which prompted me to stay here. The parking lot allows for ground-level parking, eliminating the hassle of separate payments, and although it's regular charging now, I'm grateful that I can charge my car until morning. When the staff say, "Thank you for always staying with us" and "We've been expecting you," it really touches my tired body. I look forward to continuing to stay here.
