Relax and unwind with a soothing break.

We spent a relaxing summer getaway together, soaking in the Onsen and recharging with delicious meals. The next day, we safely reached the summit of Mt. Norikura. It became a trip we will never forget.

    Thank you for your support.

I stayed for one night. The meals were generous and very delicious. While buffet-style breakfasts are common these days, I enjoyed a set breakfast that was filling, luxurious, and tasty. I chose Sakura-an because breakfast was served as a set meal. The Room felt old and had a damp smell, which was disappointing...

This is a truly wonderful Accommodation.

The Room, the cuisine, and the open-air bath were all wonderful, and I was able to relax. I also really enjoyed the variety of complimentary drinks provided. I would like to visit again.

    The Finest Hospitality

This was my first stay, and I was completely satisfied with the Accommodation. The meals, Onsen, and service were all excellent. Although the price is a bit high, it was well worth it. I was also able to relax and unwind in the open-air bath, which was almost like having it to myself.

    Could you please improve it?

This was my second stay. I was very satisfied with the free-flowing Onsen and the in-Room Onsen. The bathtub in the Room is a bit small, but the quality of the Onsen is excellent, so overall I was happy. The guest Room had been renovated, and there were no major issues. However, I really want you to improve the following points: 1) Dinner is offered in two seatings, 17:30 and 20:00. This time 17:30 seemed to be fully booked, so we were assigned to the 20:00 seating. We arrived a little after 15:00, but it was already full and we were forced into the 20:00 start. It was my first time having dinner at an Accommodation starting at 20:00. I stay at various Accommodations and Hotels across The whole country, but a 20:00 start is simply too late. I can somewhat guess why this system is used. Even though the Facility is large and has many Rooms, there seems to be only one dining venue. Compared with the size of the Facility, dining capacity may be too small, leaving no choice but to split service into two seatings. We had children with us; they got hungry and started getting restless. My father-in-law is elderly (almost 80) and said “20:00 is far too late.” At that age it can even be close to bedtime... honestly. I’m nearly 50 myself, and eating something like yakiniku around 21:00 feels quite heavy. My father-in-law left most of his meal. 2) Waiting 25 minutes for check-in is far too long. After arriving at the Accommodation, we waited 25 minutes just to begin check-in procedures. Isn’t that excessive? It looked like only two parties were handled at a time, and staff also seemed tied up assisting overseas guests. Please consider handling three or four parties at once, or escorting guests to their Rooms first and completing necessary confirmations in-Room. 3) We also waited 25 minutes for breakfast after being seated. I understand staffing may not be keeping up, and that serving each person individually on a tray takes time. One option might be switching both dinner and breakfast to a buffet style for better efficiency. Everyone in our group had many complaints, which made us feel we wouldn’t want to come again. I could see efforts toward operational efficiency throughout your operation. Since this isn’t an especially expensive stay it may simply come down to “you get what you pay for,” but I still hope you will make improvements.

    It doesn’t feel welcoming.

We were satisfied with the room, facilities, and onsen, but dinner was unacceptable. We arrived at 4:00 PM and were told dinner would be at either 5:30 PM or 8:00 PM—what is that supposed to mean? For an accommodation costing 160,000 yen per night for two people, we will never stay here again. There are other things we would like to say as well.

It was not worth the price at all.

This was my first stay. We paid just under JPY 200,000 for three people in a Room with an open-air bath, but the experience was nowhere near worth the price. We arrived before 4:00 p.m., yet we still had to wait to check in, and there was no welcome drink. Dinner start times were limited to only two options—5:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.—and although I have stayed at many Accommodations, this was the first time I have seen such a large gap. We were also asked, “Do you need help carrying your luggage and being shown to your Room?” Isn’t that normally standard? Of course we said yes, but the staff were not very friendly. Even though we took the elevator up to the second floor, there were only stairs at the end of the corridor for some reason, making it difficult to carry luggage up and down. We were told that the open-air bath in our Room was about 50°C and that we should add water before getting in, but it was actually lukewarm at around 30°C—terrible as well. There were no towels provided at the public bath either, which is hard to accept at this price range. On top of that, due to a mistake on the Facility’s side, one drink from dinner had been left off our bill. At breakfast the next morning we were told, “About last night’s drinks—after you settled your bill it seems you ordered one more…,” which made us feel extremely uncomfortable. Overall, whether due to cost-cutting or not, there seemed to be too few staff and we did not feel any hospitality during our stay. These comments are strictly about whether what was provided matched the price paid; I would appreciate your understanding on that point.

    Warm, heartfelt hospitality

We chose this Accommodation to visit Kamikochi from the Gifu side. Unfortunately it rained, but that actually let us relax and spend time at the Hotel. Many of the Hotel staff were young, and they greeted us every time we passed by. We also enjoyed the after-bath ice cream service and drink service (alcohol, juice, coffee) at different times of day, as well as late-night soba (we were too full to try it... lol). The meals were carefully prepared and very delicious. If we have the chance, this is one Accommodation we’d love to stay at again!

The only disappointing thing was the cleanliness…

All the staff were very kind and attentive, providing heartfelt service. I stayed in a renovated Room at a reasonable price, but I found hair in several places, and in the tatami Room there was dust and hair along the edges, which was honestly disappointing. The futon mattress also had hair on it. In the semi-open-air bath in the Room, once I filled it with hot water, a lot of debris floated to the surface. In the large public bath area where you wash up, dust had built up on the ventilation vent above to the point that clumps looked like they could fall at any moment and were swaying. The Onsen quality, services like making roasted marshmallows, and everything else were excellent—so it was a shame that only the cleaning fell short.

    Recommended Accommodation

It rained all day on the first day, but we never got bored thanks to the paid lounge and the private bath. The in-Room hot spring bath with free-flowing water was amazing. The meals were delicious, and the staff always greeted us with a smile, so we had a very pleasant stay. With easy access to Kamikochi, we’d love to stay for two nights next time and do some sightseeing.

    Second time this season

This time, instead of our usual Room, we stayed on the Himekomatsu no Sho monitor Plan. The water in the open-air bath in the Room had a stronger sulfur scent, like the large public bath, and it felt soothing and refreshing. One thing we noticed during this stay was that the stove in the corridor leading to the detached rooms often ran out of fuel. When temperatures are low and it’s snowing, it becomes extremely cold and uncomfortable. This is something guests using the private baths likely experience as well, so we sincerely hope this will be improved. There are other minor points I could mention, but this was the main issue this time. If we stay in our usual Room with Onsen hot water supply, there is no problem, so next time we will return to our previous Room. We understand how difficult it is to operate an Accommodation with rising prices, labor costs, overtourism, and more—but are we the only ones who feel that something has changed this season? We look forward to improvements and will visit again.

The young male staff members are wonderful!

We’ve been visiting Miyama Sakura-an every winter since it first opened. Over the years, our group has changed due to travel and other circumstances, but the service is always wonderful and the Facility is consistently satisfying. Lately, two young male staff members have been taking care of us. They’re ambitious and completely different in personality, but they’re such great guys that my spouse and I feel as if they were our own sons. We’ll be coming again in March. We look forward to seeing you then, and thank you in advance for your continued hospitality.

It was a truly wonderful Accommodation.

This was our first time staying here as a couple. The hospitality, food, Room, and Onsen were all outstanding, and my girlfriend was very satisfied. Our Room also had a private indoor Onsen bath, was spacious, and offered an amazing view from the window. It’s been a while since we found an Accommodation that made us want to come back again.

    Accommodation with Beautiful Snowy Scenery

The view of the snow-covered scenery from the open-air bath in the room was stunning. The water was very hot, so we adjusted it with cold water each time. The shower pressure was also excellent. The green tea bags in the room's drawer had an expiration date of October 2025 (we stayed in January 2026), which surprised us a bit, though they were still drinkable! The meals were absolutely delicious. However, when our tea ran out, unlike other accommodations where staff would notice and refill it promptly, here we had to ask for a refill ourselves. Additionally, during a past stay at an onsen in Tohoku, staff cleared snow off our car and brought it to the entrance upon departure; here we had to shovel snow ourselves. While comparing these experiences may not be fair, I felt that while this accommodation has a wonderful location and onsen, attention to finer service details could enhance the overall experience even more.

The head chef is a modern master of Japanese cuisine.

Awarded in 2021 and received the "Yellow Ribbon Medal of Honor" in the 2023 Spring Honors. The dishes may not be flashy, but they bring a smile to your face with their flavors and presentation. We recommend ordering extras like the triangular Hida beef hot plate. The finest Hida beef will make you truly happy. The onsen has been recently renovated, making it more user-friendly though slightly less rustic. The private open-air baths now have signs indicating availability, similar to other Kyoritsu Resort properties. There are also signs near the elevator leading to the private baths—everything is well thought out. You can use them anytime if they are available. Chairs for waiting are placed just before entering the open-air bath area, and during colder seasons, lap blankets are provided for comfort. Both the large public bath and private indoor baths were quiet regardless of time, allowing for a relaxing experience. The room's onsen was small and not frequently used; personally, I felt it wasn't essential. This area sees many international visitors familiar with Japan's customs, so there were no particular concerns about interactions. The rooms have been renovated and were very clean. The staff members were warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for those looking to enjoy delicious food while relaxing in an onsen setting!

    Depends on preference.

The most important factor for me in choosing accommodation is a stress-free experience, which influenced my evaluation. However, others may rate it highly depending on their preferences. Stressful aspects: - Check-in at 4 PM and dinner at 8 PM. It seems that earlier dinner times can be reserved by members or through travel agencies, but individual reservations often result in an 8 PM slot. - No snacks in the lounge. There is beer available in the complimentary room refrigerator, so if you just want a drink after bathing, the lounge isn't necessary. It's better not to expect a typical club lounge experience here. - Meal service feels mechanical. Additional orders are made via tablet; for example, my wife ordered grated ponzu sauce while I ordered BBQ sauce for our meat dish, but both were served on one plate with two sections instead of separately. - Facilities feel insufficient for the number of guests: private baths, saunas, smoking areas, lobby spaces all require checking availability constantly and don't allow for relaxation without concern about space availability. - Shoes must be placed into lockers by yourself at the entrance—this was my first time experiencing this at accommodations within this price range. Positive aspects: The large public bathhouse, private open-air baths (both shared and attached to rooms), complimentary refrigerator items including beer, late-night ramen (though we didn’t try it as we were full from an 8 PM dinner), and spacious rooms are all commendable features. Customer satisfaction depends on expectations; since I prioritize a stress-free environment above all else when staying somewhere overnight overall personally found myself unable fully relax here despite its merits

Accommodation with no sense of style

The meals were poorly prepared, with the only highlight being the delicious branded beef. The mountain view was obstructed by trees and fences, revealing an unappealing pond instead—lacking in aesthetic sense.

Morning coffee on the terrace is exceptional, enjoy nature to the fullest at this accommodation.

I stayed here during a motorcycle touring trip. I have also stayed at other hotels by Kyoritsu Resort, and as always, the amenities were well-prepared, allowing for a comfortable and convenient stay. The room had an Onsen attached, and I could enjoy mountain views from the bathroom. The room itself was very clean, making my stay pleasant. The view from the large public bath was also stunning, providing a relaxing experience. The meals left an average impression; however, since it was a grill-your-own barbecue style dinner, the restaurant felt slightly smoky, which was unfortunate. On the other hand, the Hoba Miso served at breakfast was delicious. After breakfast, I enjoyed coffee on the terrace while admiring breathtaking mountain views. The design of this space felt thoughtfully crafted to harmonize with nature and offered a luxurious sense of comfort. Overall, while the meals were average, everything else exceeded expectations. It’s a hotel I would love to visit again. Its location is also ideal for touring trips.

    Although the weather...

Although the weather was not very good on the day, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the accommodation from check-in to check-out. The relaxing room, large public bath, luxurious meals, post-bath service, and complimentary snacks and drinks before meals were all excellent. Above all, I was deeply impressed by the attentiveness of the staff during meals and their kindness throughout the facility.

A luxurious Ryokan with relaxing Onsen surrounded by nature

I stayed here for the first time with my parents, and we had a very satisfying and memorable experience. In addition to the large public bath, we were able to use a private bath and enjoy the onsen surrounded by lush greenery, which felt like a luxurious moment. The large public bath and open-air baths were spacious and comfortable, making my parents very happy as well. The garden's fire pit area had a great atmosphere, and watching the flickering flames in the quiet of the night was truly memorable. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was delicious, and both our minds and bodies were rejuvenated. It was such a wonderful accommodation that I would love to visit again in another season. Thank you very much!

    For the third night ...

For the third night of our trip, we chose this accommodation because the one we originally wanted was fully booked, and this option matched our requirement for a room with an open-air bath. Overall, I think it was worth the price. This is my fourth time staying in Okuhida, and the Onsen here is excellent.

Satisfied with the Onsen and meals

I reserved a twin room, but I was surprised by how small the room was. The amenities were very basic, and I would have appreciated a bit more variety. Additionally, the room had a wooden sliding door that seemed thin, so I could clearly hear footsteps and conversations from people walking in the hallway. However, the onsen was very satisfying. I was able to relax and enjoy my time there. The meals, especially the charcoal-grilled dishes, were delicious and satisfying as well. Overall, while I was pleased with the onsen and meals, I felt that improvements are needed regarding the room facilities and noise insulation.

    There are many stairs...

The journey to the Room... it's long and there are stairs... The private bath... it's long and there are stairs... Meals... it's long and there are stairs... It would be nice if moving around was a bit easier... Just moving around... is exhausting. This Property is not suitable for those with weak legs or mobility issues.

    The Onsen was excellent.

This time, I visited for the purpose of enjoying the onsen. The room I stayed in for one night was newly built in July this year, so it was very comfortable and kept clean. However, I felt that the air conditioning was not very effective. The semi-open-air bath in the guest room had a wooden chair that was quite blackened, which made me reluctant to sit on it, which was unfortunate. Other than that, everything was very good. The meals were delicious, with Hida beef, ayu, and other seasonal items for dinner. However, there was something concerning about breakfast. While I was eating, the staff started clearing the table next to me where the meal had been finished. I understand that they need to clear tables for the next guests, but since I was eating next to them, the noise made it difficult to eat calmly. I thought a little more consideration would have been nice. Also, I was concerned that no oshibori was provided after the meal. It might be unavoidable at this level of property, but it was noticeable. Overall, the onsen was good, and the atmosphere of the property was nice. There were some points of concern, but I was able to achieve the purpose of my trip, so it was good.

    Onsen is wonderful.

The Onsen in the large public bath was very satisfying. There is a sauna and a cold bath. There are many types of free drinks, and it's nice that there are also alcoholic beverages. The night soba service was also good. The male staff at the front desk was good, but the others were average. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, did not suit my taste at all. The sashimi was sometimes terrible. The room also had a hole in the wall. The mattress on the bed was worn out. It's understandable because the price is cheap, but there are many good Ryokans even at this price, so I hope it improves.

    I stayed on a Friday...

I stayed on a Friday, and it was crowded. I had to ask how to check in, and I waited for about 10 minutes. Half of the people in the lobby were travelers from overseas, and many seemed to have come by rental car. The availability of free drinks and ice cream enhanced the satisfaction. The bath, including the reclining bath and the spacious open-air bath, was very pleasant. The free private bath was always in use, with the "in use" light on. Well, the large public bath was good, so I was satisfied. The building, with its wooden feel, was calming.

It became a memory of a lifetime.

I made a reservation for the final day of my motorcycle touring trip. Having previously stayed at La Vista Kawaguchiko, which is part of the same group, I had high expectations for the service and facilities, and I was pleasantly surprised. The building had a charming atmosphere from the entrance, and the staff who welcomed us kindly carried our heavy luggage without any displeasure. The complimentary beer was very delicious and relieved the fatigue of the day, so much so that, unfortunately, I was almost full by dinner time. The meals were also very delicious, and the staff's greetings and attentiveness were very pleasant, allowing me to relax completely. I am really glad I stayed here on the last day of my trip. The atmosphere, the staff, the cleanliness, and the service were all excellent, and I would love to stay here again. Thank you for creating truly memorable memories.
