    A wonderful hidden-gem Ryokan.

The entrance was hard to find, and after we wandered around and parked the car, they came out to greet us. The Room felt a bit small, but it was very clean and the bath was extremely relaxing! To be honest, the food was underwhelming. For the price, both the quality and portion size were lacking. We had high expectations because the meals at Iki Retreat were excellent, so this was a bit disappointing. Also, the amenities were neither good nor bad—overall disappointing for an Accommodation costing 50,000 yen per person.

    A Comfortable Stay

We stayed as a couple, and it was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the private Onsen—open-air bath, sauna, and cold plunge—at our own pace without worrying about anyone else. It was great to spend time without being concerned about our surroundings. Breakfast also let us fully savor Hokkaido-style ingredients, which made the stay even more satisfying. Overall, we had a very fulfilling time and would love to visit again in a different season.

Ideal for a quiet retreat. There is room for improvement in the meals and service.

This Accommodation is about a 15-minute taxi ride from Otaru and is ideal for a quiet, stay-in focused getaway. The Onsen in the Room was especially wonderful. Perhaps because it is still relatively new, there seems to be significant room for improvement in service consistency depending on the staff member. The meals are not bad, but considering the price range, I felt they would benefit from a full review. Neither the service nor the food is truly bad, but rather than aiming for “luxury,” I think more attention should be paid to improving the basic, fundamental quality.

We were extremely satisfied with our trip!

It may not be the best in Otaru, but the Room, meals, and atmosphere were all wonderful, and we had a truly great time.

I had set my expectations too high.

Honestly, I felt it was overpriced and I wasn’t satisfied with the meals, bath, amenities, etc. For this price, I wish there had been something more—at least a meal that felt truly satisfying.

    A long-awaited stay ...

A long-awaited stay at the warehouse complex. I stayed here on a trip with a wine-loving friend. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. At the bar we visited in the evening, they shared some fun facts about Hokkaido wines. What stood out most was how much we enjoyed chatting with the staff. I would love to stay again.

It was different from what I expected.

I expected this newly renovated Hotel to be one of the more upscale options in Otaru. Perhaps because it is designed with a warehouse theme, the Room was far too dark and felt damp, as if very little light came in. There was no lighting where you would want it—there was a light at eye level by the bed, and shoji screens were placed where the morning sun became glaring. The sofa layout also felt like a club or lounge; overall, it was simply a strange design. I stayed for one night, but if I had made a two-night Reservation, I don’t think I could have stayed. Even though there is a mountain right in front of the property, there were no windows at eye level—only glass along the lower part—so I was left confused throughout. Is that also because of the warehouse concept? It’s all-inclusive, but the food didn’t feel particularly distinctive. On the other hand, there was a wide variety of drinks and I was satisfied. The best part was that the Onsen felt wonderful, and that area alone had an open atmosphere that made me feel at ease. Breakfast was also delicious—the portions were just right, and I enjoyed ingredients from Hokkaido. I’m curious whether my Room happened to be especially dark. Thank you for your hospitality.

A wonderful accommodation you’ll want to visit again

I’d been curious because it’s an architectural work by Makoto Nakayama, and I heard it had reopened after a renovation this year, so I decided to stay. It was a wonderful Accommodation that felt comfortable throughout my stay and made me want to visit again. I used the in-room Onsen many times and was able to relax without worrying about the time. The all-inclusive offerings were also excellent, and I really appreciated being able to enjoy recommended Tohoku sake, Hokkaido wine, Yoichi juice, and light snacks without hesitation. In the dining room, I had a creative kaiseki meal made with local ingredients—it was a truly satisfying evening. The quiet Onsen and drinks enjoyed inside the kura storehouse atmosphere, along with the warm service from all the staff—everything was completely satisfying. I love visiting when the greenery is beautiful, but I heard there are Rooms where you can see autumn leaves, and photos of snow piled up outside the Room windows look so appealing that I’d like to return in another season. Thank you very much.

    The staff’s service ...

The staff’s service was outstanding. Unfortunately, it was raining and we couldn’t do the sightseeing we had planned, so we arrived early. Since they couldn’t take us to our Room until check-in time, they guided us to a comfortable lounge instead. We had about two hours to wait, and when I asked if it would be okay to eat the cream puffs I had planned to eat in my Room there, they kindly took the box, plated them for us, and even provided forks. On top of that, they brought us coffee as well. Thanks to them, what I expected to be a long wait turned into a lovely café break. On the last day of our trip we were a bit tired, but their kindness helped us relax and feel at ease. It has been a long time since we received such hospitality, so I was truly moved. Thank you very much. Because we enjoyed dinner at another group Hotel, my expectations for the food may have been too high; honestly, some dishes were disappointing—for example, the soba noodles were clumped together. The Room also felt dimly lit, and with small windows set low on the wall, we had to look outside from below as if peeking out; I wished the lighting could be adjusted more easily. Even so, thanks to that staff member’s wonderful service on our first day overall satisfaction remained high.

    Because my grandmoth...

Because my grandmother was not feeling up to going out, we chose to spend most of our time in the Room and tried the all-inclusive plan for the first time. The room service was high quality across the board, and we were able to relax in the Room and enjoy a truly meaningful stay. The meals were delicious, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Although dining was in a separate location from the Room, it was a calm setting where we could unwind at our own pace.

    Enjoy a relaxing, adults-only getaway.

This was my first stay, and I was extremely satisfied. From the design of the Accommodation to the staff service and the meals, everything is thoroughly arranged to create a quiet, relaxing space where you can take your time. I was also surprised that I could enjoy a wide variety of Yoichi wines as part of the all-inclusive offering. There were even some wines I never expected to find here, and it truly impressed me as a high-end all-inclusive experience. Pairing dinner with wine and sake made everything taste even better. In a private dining room, I enjoyed drinks at leisure along with premium Hokkaido ingredients. The staff were wonderful and also recommended drinks that paired well with the meal. It sounds like new services such as private Onsen baths, enzyme baths, and spa treatments will be starting as well, so I’m looking forward to them on my next stay. I’d like to come back next year with my wife.

    The staff were exceptional.

This is just our personal impression as a couple, but these days it feels common to encounter staff who are rude or discourteous regardless of age; at your Hotel, however, everyone’s service was excellent. Some hotels serve so much food that you can’t finish it, but both dinner and breakfast here felt “just right” in portion size. In addition, each dish at dinner used cooking methods we don’t often see, which truly impressed us. Breakfast was also the perfect amount, and we really enjoyed the crispy rice crust as well. The service during Room service was outstanding too, making this one of the most satisfying Hotels we have ever stayed at. Next time, we would like to stay in a different Room type as well. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

A rare find in Otaru—an upscale retreat Accommodation where you can relax and unwind at a leisurely pace.

I chose this Accommodation hoping to unwind in an Otaru Onsen, and it exceeded my expectations. What struck me first was the sudden view of Ishikari Bay on the way there. The scenery unfolding beyond the car window was breathtaking, and it felt as though an extraordinary escape had already begun before we even arrived. During my stay, I truly felt how well the concept of “serene tranquility” is expressed as a real experience. The kura-inspired architecture and spaces were wonderfully calming, and the semi-open-air Onsen bath in the guest room was so soothing that I completely lost track of time. The dining was also highly satisfying. Each dish made thoughtful use of Hokkaido ingredients, beautifully prepared with great care, and being able to enjoy it slowly in a private room was another highlight. There is also an excellent selection of wines from Otaru and Yoichi—including some rare bottles—making this a great choice for wine lovers as well. Above all, what stayed with me most was the staff’s natural warmth. Their approach never felt excessive, yet they were always attentive in just the right way, which made for a comfortable and reassuring stay. I can see this Accommodation becoming loved by many guests. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend quiet time in Otaru and seeking a stay that values Onsen, cuisine, and atmosphere. I would love to return again in another season.

A blissful getaway wrapped in museum-like tranquility and warm hospitality

We stayed as a couple. From the moment we stepped inside, the space felt like an art museum—refined and beautifully curated. The modern, tranquil architecture drew us in at once, making us forget the noise of everyday life. ■ A gourmet experience themed around “fermentation” Meals were served in a private dining room reserved just for us, so we could relax and enjoy our time together. Dinner was a course built around the theme of “fermentation,” pairing seasonal Hokkaido ingredients with a variety of fermentation techniques. Every dish had remarkable depth, and we were continually impressed by how fermentation brought out such rich umami. We chose the Plan featuring “Hokkaido horsehair crab and grilled king crab,” and the flavor was astonishingly intense. What delighted us most was the careful preparation that made it easy to remove the meat—so we could enjoy great conversation while savoring everything smoothly. We also selected Hokkaido sake and wine to match each dish, making for a truly blissful evening. ■ Hospitality that moved us Beyond the outstanding facilities, what touched us most was the warm hospitality of the staff. • Assistance with luggage on arrival/departure • Perfectly timed drink suggestions at the restaurant before our glasses were empty • Thoughtful service at the bar when bringing multiple snacks and drinks smoothly In every situation, they provided service that felt “one step ahead” of what we needed. ■ Luxurious all-inclusive stay and Onsen Thanks to an all-inclusive offering that covered not only the bar but also room service, we could try a wide range of menu items without hesitation—it made our stay feel like an event in itself. The in-Room Onsen was also available as an “anytime bath,” letting us enjoy fresh hot spring water whenever—and as much—as we liked; it was an exceptional luxury. [Overall] A sophisticated setting, inventive cuisine, and genuinely warm staff—everything in perfect harmony. This is truly an “adults-only hideaway.” We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to spend special time with someone important.

Even at less than half price, it still feels expensive.

Considering the price, the service and the food were both disappointing. Does “all-inclusive” really mean anything? It felt like nothing more than an excuse to justify the high price. Even at half the price, it would still feel expensive.

    The Onsen water was wonderful.

I was able to take my time in the Onsen in the Room, and the water was great, so I could relax very well. As for the meals, I felt there were too few dishes to go with the rice for the price. It didn’t feel satisfying. I also would have liked some meat!

    Standard Plan!?

When I stayed here 11 years ago, I was very satisfied. This time, after hearing that the Accommodation is now under new management, I decided to stay again with my daughter to experience the same atmosphere. The building itself is already over 10 years old, so it feels dated in places, but it has been properly maintained and has a pleasant retro charm overall. On the day of our stay there were only about five parties, so the large public bath was almost private, and we were able to enjoy the quiet atmosphere at a relaxed pace. As for service, I felt more staff training is needed. When someone who seemed to be the manager escorted us to our Room, they did not offer to carry our luggage. At dinner, staff only gave brief explanations of the dishes, and at breakfast there was not even a menu presented. So while the service is acceptable at a basic level, considering this is a luxury Accommodation costing over 100,000 yen per night, it was honestly not satisfactory. The biggest issue was dinner. I booked the “Standard Plan,” and on the official website an example dinner menu described a seven-course meal featuring premium ingredients such as crab, sea urchin (uni), Akkeshi oysters, Matsukawa flounder (matsukawa karei), and kichiji. In reality, however, both the quality of ingredients and portion size were significantly reduced: it became a five-dish meal with two fewer courses. One dish was just a single piece of sushi, and even the main dish was only one regular-sized Hokkaido oyster. The taste itself wasn’t bad, but both quality and quantity were lacking. This was my first time leaving a kaiseki-style Onsen dinner still feeling slightly hungry. Without even comparing it to other Accommodations in the same price range—overall satisfaction was very low. Although I believed I had made a Reservation for the “Standard Plan,” what we received felt more like a discounted menu. Honestly, it felt like “this isn’t what was promised,” and I left feeling somewhat misled. My impression since it changed to new management is simply very disappointing.

The listing falsely claims the room has a private open-air bath, even though it does not.

I booked this property after searching for a “Room with an open-air bath,” and the Room details also stated “Onsen open-air bath.” However, in reality it was neither an open-air nor a semi-open-air bath—just a regular indoor bath. Only one set of towels per person was provided, so even though it’s an Onsen, you can’t bathe multiple times. It also said there was an outlet by the bedside, but there was none. I couldn’t charge my phone in the bedroom. There was no outlet at the sink either; the only one was on the wall behind it, and you have to step over the cord to get to the toilet. The toilet is extremely small. The in-room phone connected to the front desk was left on the floor. The Room has stone flooring; although geta and slippers are provided, you still have to wear footwear indoors, which makes it hard to relax. When I tried to create more of an open-air-bath feel by opening the window during a bath, about five stink bugs came rushing in at once. Stink bugs also appeared in the dining area. At minimum, guests should be informed at check-in that stink bugs may enter—this felt inconsiderate. “All-inclusive” sounds nice, but there were hardly any decent alcoholic options available. Even if for an additional fee, they should offer some better selections. The food wasn’t special and there were few dishes. Despite being in Otaru, there wasn’t even sea urchin served. The botan shrimp sashimi had bits of shell stuck on it. The miso soup contained mushrooms sautéed in butter and tasted overly heavy because of it. At this level, eating at a sushi restaurant would be far better. The worst part was checkout: despite having paid in advance via IKYU, I was charged for the full amount again. After I told them it had already been paid, I paid only Hot Spring Tax (300 yen for two people), but then I was handed a mysterious Receipt for 9,265 yen. When I asked about it, they said it was a system error—no clear explanation at all—and there was no apology or thanks or send-off. Paying over 100,000 yen for this is unacceptable. Above all else، since the Room did not match what was described، this feels like fraud-level misrepresentation—I honestly want a refund of the room charge。I will never return。I hope this helps other travelers。

    Unfortunately.

Despite informing them in advance about ingredients I cannot eat (and confirming again at check-in), this was not taken into account at dinner—at that point, it was a deal-breaker. The meal itself was also shockingly poor for the price—more like what you’d expect from a place charging just over JPY 20,000 per night. At Noboribetsu Takino○, Lake Shikotsu Mizu no ○, Ai no ○, and Jozankei Chalet ○○, the food is worth more than the price. Also, there were no slippers in the room. When I told the front desk, they said they were “in the shoe cabinet,” but they weren’t there either—they had simply forgotten to provide them. I hope things improve going forward, but as I feel right now, I won’t be returning.

    The facility, meals,...

The facility, meals, and Onsen were very satisfying. What caught my attention was the lack of care for the outdoor garden and plants, to the point where I felt like tending to them myself. It's a pity because everything else was excellent.
