    Wonderful Accommodation

Both the Room and the Facility were very clean, making this a wonderful Accommodation where we could truly relax. The breakfast, made with plenty of local ingredients, was far more luxurious than a typical lunch at an ordinary restaurant, and everything was delicious. We also sincerely appreciate how carefully you confirmed our dietary allergies at check-in and accommodated our needs. All staff members were pleasant, and we never felt uncomfortable at all. We also appreciated the fresh flowers displayed throughout the building—it showed great care and attention. It was also great to see so many photos and books about local ama divers; it was educational and enjoyable. This is an Accommodation that made us want to come back again! Thank you very much.

    Highly satisfied

During our trip to Ise, we stayed at this Ryokan in Toba and had a truly wonderful time. From the warm welcome on arrival, the bus driver’s cheerful conversation helped us relax and made us feel comfortable from the very start of our journey. At the Ryokan, the Onsen was exceptional. I was so happy that my skin felt silky smooth that I ended up soaking six times—I couldn’t have been more satisfied. The staff also kindly gave us detailed advice for sightseeing the next day. They even considered train schedules, which helped us make the most of our limited time. Of course, we were completely satisfied with everything—the view from our Room and all of the meals. In every moment, we felt the staff’s thoughtful attention to detail, and it was clear that they are consistently well trained. Finding a Ryokan that genuinely made me think, “I want to stay here again,” is one of my favorite memories from this trip. Thank you very much to all of the staff. When we visit Ise and Toba again, we would love to stay with you.

    First Trip with Kids

We stayed with our 7-month-old baby and were a bit anxious at first, but this was a very considerate, baby-friendly Ryokan. The Room was wonderful, and for dinner served in our Room, they kindly brought the full course at once to suit our pace. We could also enjoy breakfast in a semi-private space with peace of mind. We would definitely like to visit again.

    Highly satisfied

We were completely satisfied with everything—the hospitality, the Onsen, the meals, and the room! This time we checked out early to get to Toba Aquarium sooner, but we wished we could have enjoyed the Accommodation more.

It was a fun Accommodation where we could go fishing.

After driving nearly 600 km from Ibaraki Prefecture, we finally arrived (lol). You can fish right from the Accommodation’s pier! Luckily, I caught a large wrasse, and they added fried wrasse to our dinner. Fishing costs 1,000 yen per rod, and if you catch something, they will cook it and serve it at dinner free of charge. It was perfectly fried—crispy outside and fluffy inside—and delicious. The entire property felt luxurious throughout, and it was so well maintained that it seemed almost newly built. We were very comfortable. Meals were served in a private room with an ocean view, where we could relax—absolutely wonderful. The sea view from the Room was calm, and a black kite flew right up close in front of us—what a surprise! Because the building is on a slope, the main floor is the 5th-floor front lobby while our Room was on the 7th floor, so we looked down over the ocean. The location was outstanding. When I told the proprietress that it was my wife’s birthday, she gave us a gift. At breakfast they even prepared crane-shaped chopstick rests made with mizuhiki cords—I was truly touched. This is my fifth time using IKYU this year. I only write a Review for places I genuinely liked, and this Accommodation matched Ban'kokuya in Yamagata Prefecture in both quality and value for money—another place I want to return to has been added to my list. Highly recommended for its great value—you can enjoy a luxurious atmosphere at an affordable price. Next time we plan to come by train (lol). To the proprietress and all staff, thank you very much for your thoughtful hospitality.

    Warm Hospitality

The view of the bay from the Room, with fishing boats passing by, is very soothing as the calm seascape changes with the setting sun. The Accommodation offers enjoyable treats inside the property, such as soft-serve ice cream in the lobby, dumplings in front of the large public bath, and tokoroten jelly noodles. At dinner, the proprietress comes to greet guests, and you can truly feel their hospitality. The open-air bath in the Room was also excellent. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.

    This is my feedback ...

This is my feedback after staying here. I was very satisfied with the view from the Room and how comfortable it was. The meals were also delicious. The bath, being alkaline, had a silky feel and left my skin smooth. It would be appreciated if the cold plunge after the sauna were colder and if chairs for outdoor cooling were provided. Also, it would be perfect if you could see the ocean again. Overall, I had a very satisfying trip. Highly recommended.

We stayed here during our summer vacation trip.

The Room was as clean and lovely as shown on the website, with an ocean view where we could see the sea from our Room! We stayed as two women during summer vacation, and we were completely satisfied with everything, including the staff’s service and the meals. During our trip, they even prepared a surprise cake to celebrate a birthday, making it not only a relaxing summer getaway but also an irreplaceable memory. When we visit Ise-Shima/Toba again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    We had a comfortable stay!

We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The best part was the consistently warm, attentive service from the staff, which made us feel at ease throughout our stay. Since it was summer, there was a nighttime festival-style game corner event, and above all our children loved it. They chose fireworks both nights, and it seems to have become a great memory for them. Because this is a calm Ryokan geared toward adults, we worried the kids might get bored—but that wasn’t the case at all. The game stalls and fireworks are a fantastic idea as a service for families with children. The meals were delicious and the portions were just right, so both my wife and I were very satisfied. We also felt the in-room dining table layout was well thought out; while the meal was being prepared, our children could play in the Room without getting in the way. The late-night Ise udon was also better than any we’ve had elsewhere. The two days flew by, but this Ryokan left a lasting impression on us, so next time we’d like to stay in a different Room. When choosing an Accommodation like this, not only cleanliness but also whether the staff’s hospitality feels comfortable is—personally—the most important deciding factor for me. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

    It was a great accommodation.

We stayed in a first-floor Room with an in-room bath and beds. The Room was not large, but it was compact and functional. The in-room bath was spacious and the Onsen was excellent. Dinner was delicious overall; the spiny lobster sashimi, sautéed abalone, liver risotto, and mini steak were especially good. The only drawback was that the space in front of the toilet was narrow, so care is needed when exiting. It happened to be the day of the annual fireworks festival, and with Shuttle Service included we were able to watch spectacular fireworks from a spot where they felt like they were falling right overhead—it was truly moving.

A Ryokan with an Onsen, conveniently located for visiting Ise Shrine

Both the room staff and the proprietress provide attentive hospitality in every respect at this Ryokan. The cuisine features fresh seafood from Toba Bay, and you can generously enjoy premium ingredients such as abalone and Ise lobster. The Onsen is also a skin-beautifying bath with a pH of 9.5. We would love to stay here again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Welcome Back Trip

Now that I’m more familiar with traveling in Mie on my second trip, I stayed here again after fully enjoying Okage Yokocho. Visiting Okage Yokocho gave me a new perspective—I realized that the dango, Ise udon, oysters, and other items available inside the Accommodation are set up so that even guests who don’t go to Okage Yokocho can still enjoy them. I also found new delights different from last time, such as watching the crabs take their morning stroll and enjoying the scent of the sea on clear days. I was happy to discover how staying multiple times brings new ways to enjoy the Accommodation. Since I don’t usually eat large meals, I asked to skip dessert and adjust the portion of rice. Thank you for kindly accommodating my requests—I felt sorry for being demanding, but truly appreciated it. Both the drinks and the food were very appealing, and everything was delicious. Next time, I’ll work hard with the goal of visiting during peak oyster season. Thank you very much!

    Thank you for everything!!

We stayed for one night to visit Ise Jingu on our pearl wedding anniversary pilgrimage, and found this Accommodation hoping it would be a memorable trip. From arriving by car to check-in was smooth, and the young new male staff member who guided us to our Room explained everything so earnestly that it made us want to cheer him on. The Room was spacious and spotless—so large that the bedroom and dining area were in separate spaces—and the open-air Onsen bath was amazing. The weather was great, so we were also soothed by the beautiful view of the sea in Toba. Even though it was just the day before our stay, they kindly accepted my request for a surprise for my husband, and he was truly shocked. On top of that, we were deeply touched to receive congratulatory greetings and a commemorative gift from the young proprietress. Although this is an area famous for oysters right in front of the sea, my husband and I aren’t good with shellfish, so they changed our meal to dishes featuring Ise lobster. We enjoyed everything without any stress—it was genuinely delicious and very filling. The large public bath—one of the highlights of an Onsen Accommodation—also had many different types of baths, which was fun. We also enjoyed the complimentary tokoroten jelly noodles and mitarashi dango. The perfectly sized late-night Ise udon was another treat! There was a free drink corner as well as alcohol available at night, which we enjoyed too. Breakfast had plenty of delicious items as well; however, even though we went at our reserved time, it was full. The young proprietress (?) came to meet us, but having to come back later was the only disappointment. Still—the farewell send-off from all the staff when we left truly moved us. It’s such a wonderful Accommodation with heartfelt hospitality. We’d love to visit again in another season. Thank you very much.

The view from the window is stunning.

The view was amazing—the sea of Ise spread out like a painting from the window. We were also grateful to have meals served in our Room, as we were traveling with children. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as connecting the beds and the proprietress giving us a celebratory gift after hearing we had come to Ise for my mother’s 80th birthday. Even though it rained at night, we were able to see beautiful fireflies, which became a wonderful memory. It was farther from Toba Station than expected; we took a taxi on the way there and it cost about 5,000 yen, so using the Shuttle Service may be a better option.

    The Onsen is amazing!

The hot spring water quality is wonderful. I was amazed at how moisturized and silky-smooth my skin became after soaking in the two slightly viscous baths. Normally, even if I apply body cream after bathing, I get itchy—but this time, my skin stayed hydrated until the next evening without doing anything. If I could, I’d soak every day. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—I was very satisfied. Even though I was already full, the ice cream in the lounge after dinner was so good that I had more, and then even ate the late-night Ise udon… Even though dinner was served early for us, everything was so tasty that I overate. The staff were also very courteous, and we had a truly pleasant time. However, the Room was a bit disappointing… The bedroom and powder room were lovely, but the dining area and Japanese-style room felt sparse and overly worn. The spacious tatami room only had chairs and a low table with no cushions or similar items, and the dining table set also showed its age. That said, the open-air bath in the Room had a sofa as well; while the view isn’t particularly great, we were able to relax and spend unhurried time watching the sea. Overall, only the Room fell slightly short—otherwise it was a wonderful holiday experience. Thank you very much.

    It was very relaxing.

On a whim, I made a same-day Reservation and stayed at Sun Urashima again, where I once stayed with my parents. The Room on the 9th floor had an indoor bath with a beautiful ocean view, and the Room itself was lovely, with plenty of amenities such as tea and items in the refrigerator. The bath was alkaline, leaving my skin smooth, and the temperature was just right—I enjoyed it many times. The meals were also delicious. It seems I stayed here 14 years ago, but everything has been upgraded since then. The proprietress was kind, and the service from the staff in charge of my Room was excellent. Even after breakfast, I took my time enjoying another bath before heading home. Both of my parents have passed away, but it felt as if they wanted me to stay at Sun Urashima once more—such a satisfying trip. Thank you very much. I will visit again.

Feel good about reusing and warm your heart

This was our second stay, four months after our visit in January. Last time, because of the snow we couldn’t use our car and came by train, so we only visited Geku Shrine. This time we returned because we wanted to visit Naiku Shrine as well. The biggest reason for coming back was how genuinely pleasant Ms. S—who took care of our in-Room dining last time—was. After visiting Naiku Shrine, we arrived before 4:00 p.m. We had to wait a little because another group arrived at the same time, but after that everything was handled properly. The surprise was that Ms. S guided us to our Room—she’s the very reason we decided to return. When she said, “It’s the same Room as last time, and I’ll be taking care of your meals again,” my spouse and I couldn’t help but smile. Our impressions of the Facility and bath were just as good as before. Only one small point: as someone else mentioned in a Review, we’re not comfortable wearing yukata, so having samue available would have been our only complaint. When I asked Ms. S, “We’d like to leave the Hotel around 4:00 a.m. tomorrow to take photos of the sunrise at Futamiura—would that be possible?” she told us there is staff at the front desk 24 hours a day. The next morning they kindly helped with getting our shoes ready and opening the door for us—it was all very pleasant. I often write this in Reviews: in my opinion, the greatest charm of an Accommodation is its people. Once again this time, it was a wonderful experience—thank you for listening with a smile to this tipsy old man’s rambling and chatting with us so warmly. P.S. We stayed here for our 39th wedding anniversary (an odd number, perhaps), and we were truly touched to receive a handwritten note from the young proprietress/hostess.

    Thank you very much.

Most of my recent trips have been to Hotels, but this time I stayed at a traditional Japanese Ryokan for the first time in a while. I relaxed on the Room daybed, enjoyed the Onsen, and savored wonderful local ingredients and regional sake—it made for a memorable anniversary. I was also very grateful to find nail clippers in the closet. Just one thing: I’m used to modern safety deposit boxes, so the older-style one felt a bit outdated. From check-in to check-out, it was a great rediscovery of the charm of Japanese Ryokan stays.

    The hostess is wonderful.

I wanted to eat oysters, and when I asked in advance, I was told they might not be available, but there were rock oysters. They were very large and I was satisfied. Other than that, all of the food was cold, which was very disappointing. During the meal, the proprietress came around to greet each table, and I was impressed that she even knew which prefecture I’m from. I had never met a proprietress like her before. When we left, she stood at the exit by herself, took photos for us, and saw us off. I truly felt she is a very capable proprietress. We chose a Room with a private bath, but we also went to use the Hotel bath; it was far and it was cold on the way there, which was tough. The Ise udon at night was delicious. It’s a shame we couldn’t find where the tokoroten and dumplings were served, so we didn’t get to try them. The soft-serve ice cream seemed popular with children. It didn’t really appeal to us adults so we didn’t have any, but we used the drinks next to it several times. Also, there were plenty of complimentary drinks in the Room refrigerator—more than we could finish.

    It was very comfortable.

We stayed with our 11-month-old child. Even though we hadn’t requested anything in advance, they had prepared a futon for naps and a diaper disposal bin. The bath in the Room had a great view and a lovely scent. The large public bath is also spacious. The meals were flawless! The pacing of the in-room dining service was just right, so we could enjoy everything without feeling rushed or kept waiting. We will definitely return.

    The meal was delicious.

I chose this Accommodation after seeing online that the Reviews were highly rated. The ocean view from the open-air bath was wonderful. Also, the meals we ate in our Room were delicious. The price is not cheap, but I was satisfied because both the Room and the food were great. However, there are shoji screens on the Room windows. Even online, I saw them on the windows of Rooms on both the 7th and 8th floors. I expected they would slide away into a pocket in the wall so we could enjoy an unobstructed ocean view through a wide window, but there was no storage space—the large shoji screens block the view. I really wished I could remove them. Maybe they are there because sunlight coming into the Room is too bright? But there were also roller blinds. A wide window with an ocean view—that would have been the best part... That was my only disappointment. Except for Rooms with a private open-air bath, you can’t see the ocean from the large public bath area. It was spacious, but I still wanted to see the sea. Breakfast was served in a private room without an ocean view (there are also private rooms on the ocean side). In that case, I would have preferred to have breakfast in my Room as well. I chose this place because it’s right by the sea and I love being near it—I wanted to immerse myself in it completely.

    Generally satisfied

I’m a repeat guest. I felt the quality of the food had declined slightly compared to before, but the Accommodation Fee is almost unchanged, and given the current situation, I understand if prices haven’t been raised. Also, at breakfast served in the Room, the rice and miso soup were placed on opposite sides. It made me a little sad to feel that such etiquette may no longer be considered even at a Ryokan. Other than that, I was satisfied with the Onsen and the services for families with children.

Our whole family had a wonderful holiday.

Overall, it was a very nice Ryokan, especially the baths. It may be difficult to add now, but since there were quite a few guests, it would have been better if there had been another elevator. The baths were spacious and the hot spring water quality was excellent, so I could relax. I also appreciated the complimentary coffee service near the front desk. At night, it seemed there was Ise udon and alcohol available, but I went to bed early so I missed out—something to look forward to next time.

I’d love to stay here again.

The Room with a natural hot spring bath was amazing! The alkaline water left our skin silky smooth. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the staff greeted us every time we passed by—even the proprietress came to greet us at dinner. It was my mother’s birthday month, and we received a gift. There is a spacious terrace on the 4th and 5th floors, where you can hear only birds singing and the engines of fishing boats. It was truly relaxing. This Accommodation offers outstanding service—we definitely want to return, and we were very satisfied.

It has become our go-to accommodation.

This was our third stay. It began with the same warm welcome as always, and the Room was impeccably clean. The open-air Onsen bath in the Room was spacious and at a perfect temperature, so we enjoyed it many times. The large public bath was also quiet, allowing us to relax, and the tokoroten service was just as delicious as ever. We enjoyed our meal at the restaurant with a wonderful view, but the dishes were served one after another quite quickly, so my husband couldn’t take his time enjoying the local sake. After dinner, he bought a smaller bottle of local sake at the shop to enjoy in our Room. When a staff member at the front desk noticed this, they chilled it in ice, prepared glasses, and delivered everything to our Room—we truly appreciated their thoughtful care. Thank you very much. The late-night Ise udon was also delicious. We both feel that this is still our favorite place, and he says he would like to visit again in a different season.

Recommended for guests traveling with babies.

I was anxious because it was our first trip with our 9-month-old baby, but everything was so thoughtfully taken care of that we could relax and enjoy our stay. Here are the things we especially appreciated when traveling with a baby: Baby items available to borrow, such as a Bumbo seat, bibs for mealtimes, and tableware for baby food They can wash and sterilize baby bottles upon request A private family bath can be used once for free, and it is stocked with a baby chair and body soap Homemade baby food can be prepared for an additional fee We chose in-Room dining; since it’s served at a table with chairs, the baby couldn’t reach the food and we could eat at ease Of course, the meals were delicious and the bath was spacious—adults were very satisfied as well. We also appreciated the snacks and complimentary drinks. The staff’s hospitality was wonderful too. We would love to stay here again.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

We traveled with our 4-month-old baby. The building was very beautiful and we were really happy with it. Our first impression was that it was a luxurious Ryokan, with an upscale exterior and interior. There were plenty of staff, so we never had to wait for anything. Also, many of the staff were young, and while the atmosphere was calm, it still felt lively. The free drinks and the late-night Ise udon service were also great. The Onsen was spacious, with various baths, and we enjoyed it a lot. It was also nice that towels are provided right before the baths, so we didn’t have to bring them from our Room. The only disappointment about the baths was that the sauna temperature was low. As for the food, all I can say is that it was outstanding. We were impressed by the use of premium ingredients such as spiny lobster and abalone as well as local ingredients. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent in quality, portion size, and service. They also offered many helpful services for babies: washing baby bottles, providing a formula-making pot, a diaper trash bin, a baby bath in the private bath, and lending a bouncer during meals. The only minor point is that due to the Room layout there is a sink inside the Room itself, so we had to be a bit mindful when brushing our teeth after our baby fell asleep. Overall, we’re glad we chose this Accommodation. We’d love to stay again when our child is older or if we have another baby.

    Solo travel

Perhaps because we stayed on a weekday, there were few other guests and we were able to enjoy the baths at a relaxed pace. I was tired and could only sample a little alcohol, but they have an excellent selection of sake, so I’m looking forward to next time. If the weather is nice, it’s peaceful enough to just sit outside and unwind without being disturbed—I’d definitely like to visit again.
