I loved the Japanese-modern exterior and the chic, calming interior. The guest room had a high ceiling, and the alcove lantern added a wonderful Japanese ambiance—I could really feel the good taste in the design. I heard there are only about 10 rooms in total, so the Onsen was never crowded and I could soak at my leisure. Dinner featured a wide variety of dishes using summer vegetables, seasonal fish, and local ingredients; I was very satisfied with the gentle seasoning. The edamame potage is something I’d love to have again. Breakfast also offered plenty of options and more than enough food—above all, the rice was delicious. From welcome to farewell, I felt truly high-quality service in every interaction with the staff. It was a stay that reminded me how glad I am to choose a Ryokan again after such a long time. Highly recommended Accommodation!

A wonderful family-run Ryokan with thoughtful attention to every detail.

We stayed as a family of four with two children, aged 5 and 3.\nIt is a small Ryokan with nine Rooms, but the building is impressive and everything was spotless, with thorough cleaning down to every detail.\nHighly recommended for families with children—everything you need is provided.\nWe also appreciated the wonderful kids’ meal plate prepared for our children.\nIt was a Ryokan we would love to visit again.

Would it be okay if I came again?

I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, but this is the only one I’ve visited twice. The first time, I wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t use the Onsen, couldn’t eat, and spent most of the time sleeping—so this stay was my chance to make up for it. This is an Accommodation that finally made me think, “Yes, I’d come back again.” I usually choose a Room with a private Onsen for recuperation and look for a place where I can enjoy great food as well, but it’s rare to find somewhere that offers both excellent Onsen and meals and lets you truly relax. Because there are only a few Rooms, the large public bath is either available for private use or not crowded, so you may not even need a Room with a private Onsen. Every dish was delicious—it felt like coming here just to enjoy Japanese cuisine. I’m usually the type who wants to go everywhere in search of something even better, but this is a place I’d happily return to. I’ll be back.

I stayed here to enjoy Echizen crab.

As the title suggests, we visited this kaiseki Ryokan from Aichi to fully enjoy Echizen crab and stayed one night in a Japanese-style Room with an open-air bath. For dinner, we chose a course with a well-balanced amount that let us enjoy sashimi, boiled crab, grilled crab, hot pot, and rice porridge. The Echizen crab itself was fresh and delicious, but there were some disappointing points in the service operation. First, the initial fish and crab sashimi were not chilled. Second, we were not shown the whole freshly boiled tagged crab; instead, pre-cut boiled crab was served, and it was only slightly warm—not piping hot at all. This was very disappointing. The grilled dish and hot pot were cooked right in front of us, and the rice porridge was not overly seasoned and easy to eat. We were worried about the portion size, but it was enough to leave even an adult man full. If they review their operation, I think guests will be much happier. The building felt like it was built during the bubble era, and for Hokuriku the Room felt cold because it relied on air-conditioning heating. The exterior and entrance design are nice. The service also had an appropriate level of politeness and was good overall. There is a large public bath as well, but we preferred the bath in our Room. I hope this is helpful.

    Second stay

I was very satisfied to fully enjoy the Echizen crab course. Everything was delicious, and the grilled crab—cooked right in front of me—was irresistibly good. The staff were all warm and welcoming, making this visit pleasant as well. I will definitely come again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious crab.

The crab-focused course was excellent—especially the grilled crab, which we enjoyed freshly cooked. It was also great that the staff served all portions of the hot pot for us. The sashimi (squid, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp) was fresh and delicious as well. The Onsen was not crowded, so we could relax and enjoy it at our own pace. The complimentary kiwi vinegar and pomegranate vinegar were refreshing after the bath and tasted great. At breakfast, we enjoyed Fukui specialties and original items such as saba heshiko, sesame tofu, ponzu for steamed vegetables, sesame cream cheese, and a tomato-and-rakkyo dressing. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again in seasons other than winter.

    It was a great accommodation.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. As someone who tends to get lost, I really appreciated the corridor-style layout—it was easy to find my way around, and even on my first visit I could move about as if I already knew the place. The meals were delicious, and the baths were wonderful; I enjoyed them many times. Thank you again.

    The all-crab course is outstanding.

The crab-focused dinner was outstanding, especially the perfectly balanced crab vinegar sauce. The soba restaurant you recommended at checkout was also exceptionally delicious. We will definitely visit again.

    Thank you very much.

Although it was only for one night, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. At a Ryokan, there are often many stairs and other obstacles for my mother, who uses a wheelchair, but all of the staff were extremely kind and helpful, so we had no difficulties at all. As a coffee lover, I really appreciated having a complimentary coffee machine in the lobby. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was truly delicious. We also ordered crab à la carte, and she was very happy. On the way home, we stopped at a roadside station and bought lots of similar seafood products to take back with us. Thank you as well for sending the item we left behind—it arrived safely. We sincerely appreciate your kindness and this wonderful Ryokan.

It was a warm and pleasant accommodation where the heartfelt hospitality of the staff, including the hostess, could be felt. The meals were very delicious, making great use of fresh ingredients. We were completely satisfied with everything, and although it is far from our home, we are planning to visit again next year. We look forward to your hospitality once more at that time.

    Homely service accommodation

The staff, including the young proprietress, were very kind and attentive, creating a warm and homely atmosphere rather than a luxurious one at this accommodation. The room was spacious and clean, the open-air bath was comfortable and relaxing, leaving nothing to be desired. I was very satisfied overall. However, regarding the meals... The "Small Portion Gourmet Plan" I chose this time indeed had small portions, but I couldn't quite understand what made it "gourmet." In particular, when they said "Here is your fried dish," it turned out to be cold roast beef, which left me puzzled. At first, I thought I misheard them, but it was also written on the menu with the chef's name included. Perhaps my expectations were too high due to their branding as a "Kappo Ryokan," but overall there wasn't much of a sense of fine dining—it felt like an ordinary dinner at a typical Japanese ryokan. For those who are not particular about meals, this is an affordable and good ryokan option.

    The food was absolutely delicious.

We visited for my husband's birthday. As the name "Kappo Ryokan" suggests, the cuisine was outstanding. Since it was a special occasion, we splurged on a course that included Nodoguro, Abalone, and Wakasa Beef. The grilled Nodoguro with salt was incredibly delicious, and we enjoyed cooking the Abalone and Wakasa Beef on a hot plate ourselves—it was both fun and absolutely tasty. The Room had a lovely atmosphere and was wonderful. Since it came with an open-air bath, we used it multiple times. My husband loved it too, making it the perfect birthday gift! Thank you so much!

This was my first time using this accommodation. Upon arriving at the accommodation's parking lot, I was warmly greeted by the staff. The room, interior, and bath were so well-maintained that it was hard to believe they have been around for 30 years, even with renovations. The meals were creatively prepared using local ingredients and were delicious and satisfying. I felt truly refreshed from my daily fatigue. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

The hidden retreat is located below the road, and although the navigation indicated arrival, we initially passed it by. The hospitality was excellent, from the hostess to the staff in charge. We enjoyed meals made with local ingredients to our heart's content. We would love to visit again during crab season.

Satisfied with both the meal and the Room on the second visit. The guide was disappointing.

On my second visit, I was once again very satisfied with the meals, room, and Onsen. However, I was very dissatisfied with the service of the guide at check-in. The explanations in the room were mostly meaningless or of no interest to us, and were just recited from memory as if it were a chore. The time spent talking with the guide should be kept to a minimum. When I interrupted because the talk was too long, the guide showed an obviously unpleasant attitude, which made me even more frustrated. Although the explanations are supposed to be for the guests, it is better not to have them at all if the guide shows displeasure for not being able to say everything they want.

    Enjoy Echizen Crab

Searched on the IKYU site wanting to indulge in crab only. There were many properties incorporating crab into their kaiseki, but decided on Echizen Mangetsu, which offers a crab-centered menu. Enjoyed crab sashimi, boiled, grilled, hot pot, and porridge, all delicious. For two days, along with the onsen, we were given a leisurely and wonderful time. With the Hokuriku Shinkansen open for a year to Fukui Station, we headed home thinking we would like to visit again.

    It was delicious.

The staff at the Stays were all very kind. During meals, they naturally drew out conversation (as after many years of marriage, we run out of things to talk about), allowing us to enjoy a pleasant dining experience. The crab was delicious! Thank you very much.

We used this place for a trip to Fukui to celebrate my mother's 77th birthday. The hospitality and service were particularly excellent, and the conversations with the proprietress and all the staff were very enjoyable. The meals, which abundantly used seafood, were carefully prepared, and each dish had a sense of meaning. Everything was very delicious. It became a great memory. Thank you very much.

It was a very lovely Stays.

I used the property for a trip to Fukui after 30 years. The atmosphere of the stays was very good, and the room had a Japanese-style month name. We used Kisaragi, and it was a very nice room with an open-air bath. From check-in to check-out, we were healed by the detailed care and bright, wonderful smiles of everyone at the property, by the onsen, and by the very delicious and elaborate dishes during our one-night, two-day stay. We left the property talking about how we stayed at a wonderful property with my wife. It seemed a little early for the crab season, so next time I would like to use it during the season when crabs are delicious.

Enjoyed kaiseki cuisine and an open-air bath attached to the Room.

The dinner and breakfast, carefully prepared using local ingredients, were all exquisite. The attentive hospitality allowed for a pleasant stay. Although it was a time when my chronic rheumatism had worsened, I was able to relax and heal by soaking in the open-air bath attached to the Room.

    Somehow,

This was an inn I had wanted to visit for a long time. The evening service was impeccable and professional, which was impressive, but in the morning, there were also foreign staff, and I felt a gap. The most disappointing aspect was the food. It might depend on the course menu, but it was disappointing.

    The meals are exquisite.

A ryokan I would like to visit again and recommend to others. The meals were exquisite, with both dinner and breakfast offering handmade, elaborate dishes.
