    A relaxing accommodation overlooking Sarusawa Pond

    Overlooking Sarusawa Pond and within walking distance of Naramachi, Todaiji Temple, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine. In the morning, you can enjoy a stroll to Ukimido Pavilion—an ideal location for sightseeing. There’s also a Starbucks nearby. We stayed in a Deluxe Twin with a semi-open-air bath. The spacious hinoki bath in the Room was wonderfully relaxing, and being able to sit in the tatami area helped soothe our tired legs after walking around all day. Watching deer wander by through the window was a special Nara-only moment. All the staff were kind and welcoming. We had dinner out this time, but they prepared a birthday surprise in our Room, which truly moved us. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again when we visit Nara.

    Thoughtful Hospitality

    This Accommodation is in an excellent location for sightseeing in Nara, so this was our second stay, this time to visit the Nara National Museum. From the moment we arrived, the parking guidance was very courteous, and the Room was spotless. The large public bath was also clean. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and had a very pleasant stay. After checking out, the staff member who first assisted us even came out of their way to see us off, which made both my husband and me truly happy. I think this is a wonderful Accommodation filled with warm hospitality and thoughtful care.

    Breakfast

    From the photos, everything looked delicious, and I was expecting rice cooked in a traditional pot, but the breakfast was very disappointing. The ham in particular was poor quality—like what you might get at a Business Hotel—and the rice was unevenly cooked, with some parts hard and others soft. The roasted green tea porridge also felt like it was simply tea poured over rice. The location was excellent, but overall it was disappointing.

    The location and service are excellent.

    Located very close to Kofuku-ji Temple, and all the major sightseeing spots—Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Mt. Wakakusa—are within walking distance. The Room is a bit old, but it is very well cleaned, and all the staff were kind with thorough explanations, so I was glad I chose this Accommodation. However, it was inconvenient that there were no tissues or towels provided in the large public bath or the private bath. When I wanted to wipe down the sink a little, I had to borrow toilet paper from the restroom. Dinner was very satisfying—I could enjoy many different dishes in small portions—and the seasoned rice was especially delicious. Thank you very much.

    The service was excellent. For those planning to visit Nara Park, staying here is very convenient. If you head out in the morning, you can encounter deer. There are many restaurants nearby, including a lovely Starbucks.

    Hmm

    It might be understandable during the Obon season, but the lack of spare towels, mishaps during service, and vending machine issues were too numerous to overlook, making me feel relieved that I did not opt for a Multiple Night Stay.

    We stayed as a family to coincide with the Tokae Festival. The location was excellent, and everyone at Yoshidaya warmly welcomed us, making our stay very comfortable. Our two small children were thrilled with the spacious Japanese-style room. While we worried that their noise might have disturbed other guests, they said, "The big brother and sister (the front desk staff) were so kind; we want to go back to that hotel again." We would love to stay here again when visiting Nara. Thank you very much!

    I stayed in late Apr...

    I stayed in late April. The accommodation is in an excellent location right next to Sarusawa Pond, and during a morning walk, I saw deer quietly standing by, exuding a divine presence. Although my room this time was reasonably priced and did not have a view of the pond, the location was so wonderful that I would love to stay in a room with a pond view next time. The female staff at the front desk were very kind and shared local recommendations that only residents might know about, hidden spots to encounter deer, and information about wisteria flowers that were in full bloom. All the staff were attentive and pleasant, making my stay truly heartwarming. While the building shows some signs of age, it is well-maintained with a calm atmosphere. More than anything else, the warm hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression and contributed greatly to its comfort. Both dinner and breakfast featured carefully prepared seasonal dishes that were just right for our girls' trip—everything was delicious. I especially appreciated having Nara's signature tea porridge for breakfast. Afterward, enjoying coffee and chocolates in the lounge while reading books about Heijo Palace made for a peaceful moment. This accommodation allows you to feel both Nara's charm and people's warmth—a memorable place worth revisiting during another season!

    Truly a Relaxing Accommodation

    We stayed here for the first time to celebrate a belated Father's Day. I was able to fulfill my wish of staying at an accommodation by Sarusawa Pond, which I had always wanted to do. The quality of the hot spring water in the room's bath was excellent, leaving me impressed and helping me relax both physically and mentally without feeling chilled afterward. The attentiveness of the staff at the front desk, during meals, and in every interaction before and after going out made us feel the high level of service quality. The cuisine was exceptional; even my father could enjoy ingredients he usually dislikes thanks to their skillful preparation, making it a highly satisfying experience. It truly became a special trip where we could fully enjoy the added value of "hospitality," for which we are deeply grateful. We had such an enjoyable conversation during dinner that we ended up relaxing too much afterward and missed out on trying your recommended private bath (laughs). Next time we stay, I plan to head straight there right after check-in! Thank you so much for everything!

    Everything was excellent.

    I traveled with my mother. Since my mother has difficulty walking, we couldn't visit major tourist spots, but we were completely satisfied with the location, atmosphere, service, and food. We had a warm and relaxing time.

    Perfectly located accommodation with excellent hospitality for Nara sightseeing!

    Close to both Osaka and Nara, this accommodation caught our attention with its convenient location and private open-air baths, so we decided to stay! Unfortunately, it rained during our visit... - **Welcome** Prior to arrival, we exchanged emails with the staff regarding parking arrangements. They were very polite and helpful! Upon arriving at the ryokan, when we had trouble with parking, a staff member immediately came out to guide us. They even saw us off until our car was out of sight (the parking lot is a short distance from the accommodation but is free for 24 hours). - **Room** The room key was an old-fashioned type that felt nostalgic. From the room, you could enjoy a full view of Sarusawa Pond. The overall atmosphere of the room was comforting and reminiscent of simpler times. The semi-open-air bath required filling it yourself but had a lovely hinoki wood scent and was spacious enough for two people to relax comfortably. (Be cautious as part of the washing area dips down significantly due to drainage.) - **Breakfast** We were looking forward to rice cooked in an iron pot; however, there wasn’t any crispy rice at the bottom as expected—it was just ordinary rice without anything particularly special about it. - **Staff** The hospitality here is truly exceptional! The same person who corresponded via email also handled our check-in process and spoke warmly with us throughout. Their kindness left a lasting impression. - **Other Notes** Due to rain, we couldn’t visit the rooftop or large communal bath; however, we were satisfied with just using our private bath in the room! Additionally, this accommodation’s location is fantastic—there are Starbucks cafes nearby along with convenience stores and dining options within walking distance. Highly recommended for tourists exploring this area!

    You can relax and enjoy watching deer from a room with a great view.

    I stayed in a second-floor room facing Sarusawa Pond. The view was excellent, but since direct sunlight came in, I think it would be better if there were lace curtains. After check-in, tea was served in the lobby while receiving explanations, but I thought it would be nice to be shown to the room first and receive the explanation there. Overall, the service was very courteous. I also received advice on how to explore the surrounding area and enjoyed a fulfilling trip to Nara.

    The parking lot was ...

    The parking lot was available even before check-in, which was very convenient. We were able to take a leisurely stroll around the nearby Naramachi. The Room had a wonderful view overlooking Sarusawa Pond. At 6 AM, the sound of Kofukuji Temple's bell echoed, and we witnessed two deer visiting Sarusawa Pond with no tourists around—a truly unforgettable sight. Above all, thanks to the warm hospitality of the staff, we had an incredibly enjoyable stay. Thank you very much!

    We stayed here for our long-awaited trip to Nara. The staff kindly accommodated our sudden request for in-room dining, allowing my husband and me to relax. The Room's bath was spacious, and we enjoyed the beautiful view of Sarusawa Pond from the window. Even after check-out, we could leave our car with a 24-hour free parking ticket and visit the Great Buddha, making it a truly wonderful experience.

    The breakfast was disappointing for the price, with just lettuce and raw bacon or cold grilled mackerel, worse than a Business Hotel. The Room was outdated and cheaply made. I would never stay here again. It left a bad impression of Nara.

    I stayed with my children. There were many other families with children, which made me feel at ease. Additionally, all the staff members I interacted with were very polite and provided pleasant service. The meals were all delicious. There might have been some coincidences, but there were a few concerns regarding the room. Some lights didn't turn on or seemed about to go out. The humidifier had water partially filled, making me wonder if it was left from the previous guest. The lid of the water tank was blackened with mold. One light by the window wouldn't turn off (is that how it's supposed to be?), so when I turned off all room lights, all other electrical systems also shut down. I couldn't use the humidifier either. Dust and hair were found on the floor, and when draining the bathwater, brown stains adhered to the bottom of the bathtub. I believe these are things that could be checked before check-in; therefore, I would rate this aspect of the room 2 stars.

    Relax and unwind

    Reception When I arrived in Nara around 1 PM on the check-in day, I went to the hotel to leave my luggage. They kindly suggested an early check-in, saying that if I waited for about 15 minutes, they could guide me to my room. They also proactively offered to hold my luggage at check-out. It was very helpful. (Please note that the response may vary depending on the busyness and the day, so please don't be upset if it's different.) Meals My companion is generally not fond of seafood, so when I made the reservation, I requested in advance through comments to change some of the menu items as much as possible. At check-in on the day, they asked again and changed the menu despite it being mainly seafood. The original menu was also very delicious, and I appreciate their courteous response. Room, Bath The room is clean, and you can fully enjoy the view of the ancient city of Nara from the large windows. The sun sets on the window side, so you can watch the sun setting over the mountains beyond Sarusawa Pond from the room window or the hotel's rooftop. In addition to the large public bath, there are two private baths, which can be used without a reservation if available, for 45 minutes each time, as many times as you like. I used it twice. The bathroom is decorated with stone floors and bathtubs, and there are two showers each, so up to about four people can quickly rinse off and enjoy family time in the bathtub. The water temperature was just right and very pleasant. Staff What left the most impression on this trip was the hospitality of the staff. They always spoke kindly with a smile, so I was able to stay with peace of mind. Thank you very much. I will come again.

    A property where you can feel hospitality

    We stayed as a family of four, including my husband, our 5-year-old and 2-year-old children, and myself. The location was convenient for going anywhere, the Room was clean, and having a family bath was just as appreciated as we imagined for those with children. However, what made us happiest was the wonderful hospitality of each and every staff member! No matter who we spoke to or what questions we asked, we were met with comfort and smiles, even towards our children, and it was clear that the staff training was thorough even after just half a day. Although our 2-year-old is not a big eater and it was difficult for him to finish all the children's meals, we opted for "no meals" with the expectation of being hungry. However, they kindly provided rice, furikake, and miso soup for our 2-year-old, and my husband and I were filled with gratitude. Thanks to this, our entire family was able to enjoy a full dinner and breakfast. We would love to visit again if we have the opportunity. Thank you very much for your warm hospitality.

    I used it for my first trip to Nara.

    I had a very relaxing stay. It was great to be able to stay in Nara during the on-season at that price, and having a private bath was a big plus (as a woman, having an en-suite bath in the Room is even more appreciated). Also, I am very grateful for your kind response to requests such as wanting to cut the sweets I bought. It was a wonderful first trip to Nara. Thank you very much.

    Peaceful time

    It was unfortunate that the five-story pagoda of Kofukuji near the Stays was undergoing major renovations and was covered with sheets, but the Stays itself was in a quiet environment with a calm atmosphere. We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay this time, and we were able to enjoy the cypress indoor bath in the Room and the family bath in the facility for two days. After checking out, I was very impressed by the polite and gentle demeanor and smile of the woman at the front desk who saw us off with a smile as we left the Property by taxi.

    Girls' Trip

    Stayed for 2 nights. Located in front of Sarusawa Pond, it was easy to reach from the station without getting lost. At the foot of the stairs to Kofukuji Temple, I could watch the deer climbing from the room. Before the stay, I received an inquiry and was responded to with meticulous and courteous service. Both the front desk and dining staff were very pleasant and full of hospitality, making the stay very comfortable. The food was elaborate, both in appearance and taste, thank you very much. I would definitely like to visit again.

    The view from the window by Sarusawa Pond is wonderful. Everything was a calm and charming Stays. Also, the most impressive was the staff's response. We made various inquiries before our stay, and they were very kind. Although they were young, they were always gentle and warm, and thanks to their thoughtful attention, our trip became enjoyable and memorable.

    I was able to relax.

    I made a reservation on the day, but I was able to stay in a room with a nice view. There was a small issue with the bathroom in the room, but it was promptly addressed. I was able to watch fireworks from the room, which was soothing for both my mind and body. The breakfast, including freshly cooked rice and tea porridge, was delicious. This was my second stay, and the service was as excellent as before, so I would like to stay here again next time.
