    It was a typical Ryokan.

    This is not a Hotel; it was just an ordinary old Ryokan. The background music felt like it was from another era. The Room was also outdated—the tatami mats were worn down, and there were holes in the sliding doors. At night, when switching to “night mode,” the lighting was oddly warm? flickering?—almost like something spooky might appear. There was an old massage chair, and next to it an ashtray… I was surprised that smoking in the Room still seemed to be allowed these days. Maybe that’s why there was a faint smell of cigarettes throughout. The service was neither good nor bad, but the staff spoke very fast, which felt rushed for someone who came to relax.

    The view from the Room and the meals are excellent, but...

    The view from the Room and the delicious meals were wonderful. The post-bath drink service and warm hospitality made us feel truly welcomed. Unfortunately, in our second-floor Room with a private bath, water dripped down from the floor above even though it wasn’t raining. We gave up going out onto the balcony to take photos. Also, early in the morning several small boats passed along the nearby shoreline, and we worried they might be able to see into the sea-side bath area. The bath in our Room was on the mountain side, but we could still see nearby houses from there as well, which also made us feel uneasy about privacy.

    Bath with an Ocean View

    I chose this Accommodation because I wanted to relax in a bath with an ocean view, and it offers ocean-view rooms with private open-air baths. I later realized it was featured in the Michelin Guide (Tokai edition). There are many baths throughout the Accommodation—on the rooftop, on the 5th floor, two on the 3rd floor, and one on the 2nd floor—but unfortunately the 2nd-floor bath was closed on the day of my stay. The in-room open-air bath had plenty of hot water and a great view, and I enjoyed it very much. The 5th-floor bath is a reservable private bath in 25-minute slots, so it felt a bit rushed. On the 3rd floor, if it’s available you can lock it and use it privately; I used only one of them, and its semi-open-air style was best suited for washing up. I used the rooftop open-air bath after dinner—the gradient of colors in the sky was stunning, and I could even see an evening star, making for a truly beautiful experience; however... because there is nothing to block the wind on the rooftop, I felt very cold even during the short walk to the tub. You may want to choose your season if you want to fully enjoy it. The staff were cheerful and kind. I booked a Plan with breakfast and dinner; both meals were delicious and felt like just the right amount. Perhaps because everything paired well with alcohol, I got thirsty at night and drank water several times (I appreciated that cold water was provided in a pot in my room). The bedding was high quality and I slept well. Overall satisfaction was high—an Accommodation that made me want to return. One disappointing point—also mentioned by others—was that there were many marks on the tatami mats that looked like they came from dragging tables or other furniture around. Also as others have noted, there were some areas where cleaning seemed insufficient: higher spots and exterior sides of window frames looked like they hadn’t been wiped for quite some time. What bothered me most this time was that weeding around the open-air bath area hadn’t been done at all. It seems like it could be finished within an hour—or handled with weed killer—but since there don’t seem to be many young people locally and older staff appear to be running things mainly themselves, this may be easier said than done. Photos from when Game 16 of Ryuo Title Match (Season 16) was held here are displayed inside; you can see younger versions of Morishita Koji? Wait: Actually "森内、羽生" are Yoshiharu Morinouchi? It's "Morinouchi" vs "Habu". Alongside them is also a young Sugimoto Masayuki (8-dan), famous as mentor to Fujii Sota (six titles). Shogi fans—and especially Fujii fans—should definitely take a look.

    So glad we came!

    There were plenty of Onsen, and all of them were clean and wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were luxurious and delicious! If I have the chance, I’d love to stay again!

    A Small and Intimate Gathering

    This accommodation offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy a nostalgic "Showa-style" gathering, thanks to the thoughtful arrangements of the hostess. Relax in the soothing Onsen, savor delicious meals, and experience heartfelt hospitality from the attentive staff. The scent of incense fills the facility, creating a serene ambiance. However, one point to note is that smoking areas seem slightly behind modern standards of separation. It would be wonderful if non-smokers could also enjoy their stay more comfortably in this lovely accommodation.

    The view is excellent, but the food is very disappointing.

    The bath is very clean, and the view is beautiful. Unfortunately, the meals are terrible and taste awful! Many of the Ryokan staff are Vietnamese, making Japanese explanations hard to understand. I don't feel like visiting again.

    It's questionable why it is featured on IKYU.

    Even though it was the most expensive room, the welcome drink was in a dark corner. Perhaps because there was a group of elderly people from overseas in Asia, they were shown to a separate room with a sea view. The largest room, the Hikaru Genji Room. There was no floor plan on the site, so it was suspicious from the start, but the layout is too strange. It's just spacious. The tatami mats are also terrible. The open-air Onsen is nice, but the wind is too strong, making it easy to catch a cold. The only indoor large bath has cobwebs everywhere, which is unacceptable. The changing room is also terrible. The Ise lobster sashimi is good, but everything else is too low quality. Is it a family restaurant? The content is at a level that can be made at home. I felt really sorry for bringing my friend. Is the lack of photos of the room and meals because they can't be shown? Don't let your imagination run wild and have high expectations. The quality of the hot water feels so-so, but it doesn't seem to be cleaned. Overall, it's old, and I definitely don't recommend it.

    The meals are excellent.

    We stayed in mid-November to celebrate our child's birthday. Although I was concerned about the mixed reviews, I was satisfied enough to consider repeating the stay. The meals were extremely delicious. My wife especially praised them highly. We enjoyed freshly prepared dishes, such as tempura of anago fried right in front of us during dinner and omelets cooked in front of us for breakfast. The taste of sashimi might vary depending on the season, so preferences may differ, but we enjoyed a variety of dishes like abalone butter grill and simmered dishes. Personally, I liked the sugar-pickled plums and miso soup before breakfast. Regarding the bath, it was not an onsen, but we enjoyed it. I was satisfied with the room bath, but my wife, after trying all, said the room bath was the best. Some points that might not suit everyone, just for reference: - The building itself is old, so there are many steps compared to recent ryokans and hotels. However, the cleaning was thorough, so that was not a concern. - Due to central air conditioning, there is no detailed temperature setting for each room. It was too hot, so we slept with the windows wide open. It was a warm day even in November, so it couldn't be helped. As a result, there were quite a few insect bites, and it was too cold at night, so we woke up to close the windows. - The provided hairdryer is an old-fashioned one with insufficient airflow. As a man, I didn't mind, but my wife gave up on washing her hair. It's better to bring your own. - The room bath is only open-air. The washing area is only outside and has no roof, so it might be tough in winter. - The open-air bath is very open, for better or worse. However, I don't think there's much chance of being seen unless something unusual happens. - The attendant was a foreigner. The language was slightly broken, which might be a concern for those who want to hear detailed explanations of the dishes. I don't mind as long as the food is delicious, and their attentiveness was excellent, so I had no complaints. - Check-out is at 10 AM. Many recent stays have check-out times at 11 or 12, so compared to that, you might not be able to relax much after breakfast. They kindly prepared a birthday cake for us on short notice (we requested it for an additional fee), and our child was very happy, which satisfied us as parents. We were late due to moving after playing at the amusement park, but they were considerate enough to have the meal ready quickly. Thank you very much.

    First time on the Chita Peninsula. We stayed after sightseeing in Tokoname and Himakajima. Perhaps because it was a Sunday stay and it was not crowded, we were able to fully enjoy the facilities within the property. Especially the bath, which had multiple private open-air baths, and the open-air bath on the 5th floor was particularly mystical with its Heian period-inspired design. The meals were very satisfying, not only for adults but also for our 2-year-old son. One issue is that while the interior is kept sufficiently clean, it would be perfect if the ventilation outlets in places like the toilets were also cleaned. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Great satisfaction

    I was satisfied with the meals, bath, and other services. Fireworks were also displayed on the day of our stay. Unfortunately, the karaoke room was fully booked, but it couldn't be helped as I didn't make a reservation in advance. I would like to visit again on another occasion.

    The inn is mainly focused on hot springs, but the bathing system is tough for men.

    I stayed here for a refreshing trip with my family. The building and facilities overall couldn't hide their age, but they seemed to be well-maintained, and the interior and guest rooms themselves were clean. The location of the room with a panoramic view of the sea was also wonderful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The room amenities were also well-equipped. However, although it was stated that Wi-Fi was available throughout the facility, it could only be connected around the dining area and the front desk. It seems to be an issue with the number of routers. Wi-Fi is meaningless if it can't be used in the room. If it can't be used in the room, it should be stated as such, and if they want to claim it can be used in the room, it should be properly maintained. The meals, centered around local seafood, were very delicious. However, most of the female staff were foreigners and spoke broken Japanese, so the explanation of the dishes was not fully conveyed. Also, perhaps due to poor adjustment of the air conditioning direction, the flame of the mini stove flickered too much, taking time for the food to boil, and the flame went out quickly even when it did boil. This was problematic for shabu-shabu dishes. These were points that felt disappointing. The main bath seems to be the "Sky Bath" on the 8th floor. However, the water was too hot, and it seemed that no one could enter from evening to night. I managed to soak for about a minute in the morning, but it was too hot to stay any longer. Are the staff checking this? There are many baths in the facility, but they are allocated from a female perspective, so the time slots and baths available for men are overwhelmingly fewer compared to women, making it a tough system for men. It might be good for an all-female trip, but I wouldn't recommend it if men make up half or more of the group. Various services such as upon arrival, before breakfast, or after bathing were abundant. These are probably delightful services as they add to the enjoyment of the trip. Alcohol and matcha are offered for free, but it was disappointing that coffee was charged separately for some reason. Overall, while there were many good points, there were also issues such as questionable services and a bathing system mainly considering female guests. For a women's trip, it would be 5 stars, but for men, it would be 3 stars.

    According to my 8-year-old son, the best hotel ever.

    The bath was very nice, especially the private open-air bath that we could use as a family was excellent. The food was very delicious, and my 6-year-old daughter was able to eat squid and white fish sashimi for the first time, and they even became her favorites. My 8-year-old son was also able to eat sea urchin for the first time. It was the first time the kids were full outside of a buffet. According to my son, it was better than any other accommodation we've stayed at in the past! The only deduction would be that I thought it would be nice to have a hairdryer in the large public bath.
