The Room and hallways were uncomfortably hot.
I had been really looking forward to meeting Mr. Ohashi. Perhaps the season was not ideal. The Room’s air conditioner did not cool the space even when set to 17°C with the fan on maximum. Since it was a Room with a large south-facing window, it felt like the air conditioner simply wasn’t powerful enough. If possible, I would have appreciated it if the air conditioning had been turned on in advance. However, the dinner venue—a large hall with high ceilings of about 50 tatami mats—was freezing cold, and I felt like I might catch a cold. The next day, they kindly adjusted the settings for us. I would like to visit again in a different season.

This is my first time visiting Misasa Onsen.
- The building is old, and noise from the next Room and upstairs was noticeable. - The bedroom was separated from the hallway by only a single decorative shoji screen, so it never got dark due to the hallway light and we couldn’t sleep. - To get from the Room to meals or the bath, we had to go up and down stairs, which was a difficult layout for an elderly couple. - The Room came with two indoor baths, but on a hot summer day the water temperature was too high to use. We would have appreciated more consideration. - The food was delicious. ■ Overall, considering what we paid, it was a disappointing stay that did not meet our expectations.

Both the cave bath and the open-air bath were clean, and we could relax comfortably. We stayed in a Room that seems to have undergone a major renovation—reducing the number of rooms and adding a bedroom and a private in-room hot spring bath with free-flowing water—so our stay was very comfortable. The furnishings in the Room and along the hallways were also lovely. The experienced staff who took care of our meals kindly answered various questions about the local area, making our time truly enjoyable. Thank you very much.

A historic Accommodation with an excellent Onsen.
We stayed as a group of four—my mother, my son and his wife, and me—to celebrate my mother’s recovery. The view of the fresh green mountains and the Misasa River was outstanding. While it has a long history, the Room and Facility were well maintained and very clean. Both the rock bath and the open-air bath were wonderful. My elderly mother felt at ease being able to use the cypress bath in our Room. The meals were not overly elaborate, but carefully prepared with excellent flavor, and everyone was very satisfied. I have visited Misasa Onsen several times, but this Accommodation was the best. We will definitely stay again.

This was my first stay here, and the Onsen was simply amazing. It had a wonderful atmosphere, everything was spotless, and I could truly relax and recover from daily fatigue. We stayed in the Lily Room. It has an indoor bath, but if you open the window it feels like a semi-open-air bath—absolutely incredible and so relaxing. On top of that, it’s free-flowing natural hot spring water. Done—I’ll definitely be back! The meals were refined and delicious, and I think they would especially appeal to women. However, it was really disappointing that only the final ochazuke was served cold. There was no coffee at breakfast. I asked if I could have some even for an extra charge, but they said they don’t offer coffee at all. Even having instant coffee as one of the in-room drink options would be a big help for coffee lovers. If you pay a lot of money, ultra-luxury is to be expected—but this wasn’t about that. At this price point, I felt the hospitality was truly excellent.

The portion sizes are small.
I stayed for two nights. The sashimi at dinner was delicious, but there was only a very small amount, and I was disappointed that the overall meal portions felt small for the price.

As rumored, the best Onsen.
I had always wanted to stay at Ohashi Accommodation. This time, I finally managed to find the time and enjoyed a relaxing Onsen experience. The room I stayed in was "Nanten no Ma," and I was deeply impressed by the intricate craftsmanship of the room, which reflected the dedication of skilled carpenters. Now, regarding one of the main highlights of any trip—meals. Unfortunately, there was no rice refill service during dinner. As my friends and I tend to eat quite a bit, this is an area that could be improved for a perfect experience. As for the staff's attentiveness, it truly lived up to Ohashi Accommodation's reputation with their exceptional care and thoughtfulness. If given another opportunity, I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

Questions about amenities
There were no replacements for yukata or towels provided. Each replacement required an additional fee, which was a first for me at a Ryokan. After soaking in the Onsen, one tends to sweat, but it seems we were expected to rest as is. While I understand the financial considerations, I believe that at least the minimum level of service corresponding to the price should be ensured.

Enjoy natural Onsen at a traditional Ryokan.
Misasa Onsen is known for its high concentration of radon, which is said to enhance the body's natural healing abilities, and I had always wanted to visit. Among the 166 registered tangible cultural property accommodations in Japan, I chose Ryokan Ohashi for its retro charm, perfect for a solo traveler like me, and its renowned hot springs. The natural rock bath with free-flowing onsen water was incredible. I could feel the onsen's minerals working wonders on my body. The Gankutsu-no-Yu and Seseragi-no-Yu baths alternated by time, allowing me to enjoy both. In the open-air Seseragi-no-Yu bath, I was soothed by the sound of the Mitoku River and the vibrant greenery, making for a truly relaxing experience. I stayed in a room named "Kaido," which is synonymous with beauty, and it came with a private open-air bath. At night, I enjoyed stargazing from the bath, and in the morning, I soaked while listening to the gentle stream. I indulged in the onsen as many times as I wanted, at my own pace. After bathing, I took a stroll along the riverside, where the sound of the stream and the chirping of insects created a pleasant atmosphere. The accommodation preserves its traditional Japanese architecture, which added to its charm. I am glad I had the chance to stay here. It was a truly peaceful and wonderful experience. The meals were also delicious. Thank you very much.

Very comfortable
The service, rooms, and Onsen were all extremely satisfying. I had a truly wonderful time and would love to visit again. The rock bath provided an extraordinary and relaxing experience that cannot be found elsewhere. The staff were very kind, making the stay exceptionally comfortable.

Hospitality of Our Staff
I stayed with my elderly mother, aunt, and son as a group of four. The Onsen was excellent, and the private open-air bath in the guest room was also very enjoyable. The staff were very considerate towards my elderly mother and aunt until we checked out. Although there were many stairs which made it challenging for the elderly, I truly appreciated the thoughtful care provided.

A Visit for a Petite Hot Spring Retreat
I visited this accommodation as part of my rehabilitation after cervical spine surgery. The historical atmosphere was evident, and I felt I made the right choice. However, the structure seemed a bit challenging for my post-surgery condition, which made me slightly anxious. To access the bath or meals, climbing stairs was unavoidable. Despite this, the excellent design of the baths and the quality of the hot spring water more than compensated for any inconvenience. The meals were basic but satisfying and delicious without any complaints. I would love to visit again at a leisurely pace once I recover fully. The hospitality was impeccable and left a great impression.

The best in Misasa.
The Onsen's water quality, the meals, and the charming architecture—everything guarantees repeat visits.

Great Ryokan, great Onsen.
This is truly a Japanese Ryokan. The room and meals are among the finest of Japanese Ryokan standards. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional, offering traditional Ryokan cuisine at its best. While creative fusion dishes are enjoyable, the classic and reliable flavors here reflect the expertise of an established inn. We had lively conversations over our meals. The onsen features natural hot spring water directly from the source, with outstanding quality as expected. Since we visited during a quiet period, we had it almost to ourselves. With gender-specific baths switching at 9:00 PM, my wife was pleased to experience both large baths in one day. Next time, as suggested by "Misasa" (Three Mornings), we plan to stay for three nights! It feels like all fatigue and discomfort will vanish here. By the way: You sleep on futons laid out on traditional tatami mats. While the front entrance is air-conditioned, stairways and hallways are not due to its designation as a registered tangible cultural property—something that adds charm for those who appreciate it but may not suit everyone’s preferences or expectations. We’ve found an accommodation worth repeating!

Luxury Ryokan from the Showa Era
A Ryokan that truly embodies the charm of Misasa Onsen, with no complaints about the Onsen itself. The wooden three-story building exudes a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. It is an ideal accommodation for a couple in their 60s traveling together. With only a few rooms, there are hardly any encounters with other guests. The large communal bath allows for a relaxing soak, and we thoroughly enjoyed all levels of the rock cave baths—upper, middle, and lower. Even in May, Misasa's hot spring warms you to your core, so we turned on the room's air conditioning before heading to the large bath. The room’s private bath also has Onsen water drawn into it; at night, I read a book while soaking and sweating it out in our private bath. If anything could be improved: alcoholic beverages were priced on the higher side, and dinner portions could have been more generous to enhance satisfaction further. Additionally, having to call staff each time for rice refills felt slightly inconvenient. This accommodation is highly recommended for those who wish to experience the ambiance of a luxurious Showa-era Ryokan.

Future
I have stayed here several times, and while the service and meals are excellent, I am concerned about the facilities. In particular, the sink in the room is small, with weak hot water flow. Additionally, as smartphones are essential nowadays, there are too few outlets in the room. While preserving important cultural properties is commendable, improvements to meet modern needs are essential.

Thank you very much for your kind support.
We sincerely appreciate the kindness of being picked up twice to and from the Ryokan. Upon arrival, we realized we had left our luggage in a locker at the station, and we are truly grateful to the driver who kindly offered to take us back to retrieve it. The Ryokan featured a charming building and Room. While it seemed quite aged, it was well-maintained, allowing us to fully enjoy its traditional atmosphere. The meals were delicious, and the service was pleasant and attentive. The staff even responded humorously to our jokes, which made for an enjoyable experience. The baths included a rock bath and a wooden bath that switched between male and female use at 9:30 PM, allowing us to enjoy both. However, the wooden bath had two entrances—one wide and one narrow—which naturally led us to open the wider one by mistake. This entrance connected directly outdoors where it was cold, catching us off guard! As for the rock bath, I entered at 5 AM as indicated on the sign in the changing room; water bubbled up through gaps in its rocky bottom as described. However, I found that while its surface was hot, deeper down it felt cold—a surprising contrast! My wife mentioned she didn’t experience this when she bathed there earlier; perhaps this difference is due to entering first thing in the morning? Not only did we enjoy the Ryokan’s ambiance along with its cuisine and baths but also deeply appreciated how courteous yet efficient all staff interactions proved throughout our stay. Thank you very much!

Exceptional hospitality
I finally had the chance to stay at the Ryokan Oohashi, which I had long admired. As it is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, every corner of the facility exudes charm and a nostalgic atmosphere. Upon arrival, we were welcomed in a wonderful lobby overlooking the Mitoku River and served tea and zenzai. The view from our room was also stunning and very soothing. However, as it was an extremely cold day due to a severe cold wave, I hesitated to use the restroom in our room because of how chilly it was; for this reason alone, I would rate this aspect as 4 out of 5. That said, this seems to be part of the unique charm of Oohashi's historic building. The rare radium hot spring bubbled dynamically from its rock bath and warmed me thoroughly from within. The baths alternate between men’s and women’s use depending on time slots, allowing guests to enjoy both experiences at different times. The meals were truly exceptional—every dish was incredibly delicious without exaggeration! Additionally, staff attentively asked about replacing towels or chopsticks or refilling drinks with such care that their hospitality stood out as number one among all accommodations I've stayed at before! Their service was absolutely top-notch. Even during our departure send-off, their thoughtful gestures left us deeply moved. I’ve decided that next time I'll visit during another season besides winter for sure! This stay created wonderful memories for which I am truly grateful.

I'm glad I stayed here.
At first, I was unsure about choosing Kaike, but I realized I had never been to a radon onsen, so I chose Misasa. I preferred a property with fewer rooms and opted for this one because of the natural spring. Both the onsen and the meals were satisfying, allowing me to spend a relaxing time. Although the meals were in a large hall, they were divided by large partitions, so solo travelers can enjoy their meals without worrying about other guests. If I had to say, it would be nice to have more meal plans to choose from even for solo stays. Personally, I wanted the premium crab kaiseki, but since only the basic seasonal kaiseki was available on the official site, I ordered additional dishes. Nevertheless, I think I had a generally satisfying stay. A 1-night, 2-day stay is fine, but since many ryokans offer day-use bathing with long hours, a 2-night, 3-day stay with a therapeutic bathing experience might be nice. There are many activities that require advance reservations, such as the steam bath Suha Onsen and the mineral mud pack experience at Misasa Onsen Hospital, so prior research is essential. Staying for two nights to experience various activities is also an option. I would like to come again.

It became a good memory.
We were treated very well and had a very enjoyable experience. The meals were wonderful, and the homemade plum wine and pickled plums were unforgettable. We appreciated the attentiveness of the person in charge of the room. This is a property we would like to visit again with our family someday.

The Harvest Moon
On September 17th, it was the Harvest Moon. Since I rarely get to see the moon, I stayed in a room with a good view and enjoyed the full moon. From the room, the angle made it a bit difficult to see the moon, so I went to the open-air bath and enjoyed moon viewing while soaking in the Onsen. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private room. If I had to say, it would have been nice to have a restroom in the private room, but as always, the staff's hospitality was impeccable and I felt rejuvenated.
