    Each private villa Room luxuriously features both an indoor Onsen bath with free-flowing spring water and an open-air bath. Some Rooms even have a pond, where you can feed the koi and enjoy a truly special escape from everyday life. Another highlight is the craftsmanship throughout each villa Room—every fitting and light fixture remains beautiful as a work of art, even with the passage of time. You’ll also be soothed by seasonal flowers and the songs of birds in every season. For dining, we made a Reservation in advance and walked about 10 minutes to an Italian restaurant (Antica Trattoria Dal Pirata). It was excellent, so we highly recommend it as well.

    A quiet and exceptional space

    I had a peaceful and wonderful time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Room was elegantly designed, with each piece of furniture reflecting a sense of history. Both the indoor bath and open-air bath attached to the Room were fantastic. I would love to come back again.

    You can spend your time quietly.

    I previously stayed here alone and liked it very much, so this time I came with my husband to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, the Kawazu cherry blossoms were late in blooming this year, so we couldn't see them, but instead, we were able to relax at Ishidaya. All the rooms are separate cottages and luxuriously have both an indoor bath with flowing hot spring water and an open-air bath. Although a bit old, they are well-maintained, and the view from the room is rich in nature and very soothing. Upon arrival, futons were already laid out for us; meals are served to your room (brought to your door but you set it up yourself), and there are two baths in the Room—perfect for a retreat. It may not appeal to everyone, but my husband and I really liked it. This time we happened to have a Room where we could feed carp as well—it was fun. We would like to visit again during another season. Please note that toothbrushes, razors, combs etc., are not provided in the Room so it's better if you bring your own. Even if you forget them though, they can be purchased at the front desk.

    A quiet stay

    Overall, it was good, but it might not be suitable for younger people. There was no flashiness, but it had a comfortable atmosphere. For meals, I would have liked a bit more of a travel experience, so it might be good to clearly present the options. Having to take the trash home was a bit inconvenient. There was no information about free water, so I didn't notice until breakfast, and there was no vending machine, so I would appreciate your consideration. Receiving a bill on the way back was a very nice souvenir. Thank you. It's perfect for staying in.

    The spacious and com...

    The spacious and comfortable room felt like renting an entire traditional house, and the open-air bath in the room and the large public bath were excellent. The meals were delicious, with a Shokado bento for dinner, but without any explanation, and the system of picking up breakfast felt a bit lacking in luxury for such an atmospheric Ryokan. The service was not bad, but it didn't feel like typical Ryokan hospitality, and the atmosphere inside the building didn't feel very lively. It was a bit inconvenient not being able to buy drinks or alcohol. On the other hand, if you are satisfied with these aspects and can enjoy the Onsen and the room, it is also an excellent Ryokan.

    I used this place on...

    I used this place on my way back from a trip to Shimoda in Izu. I was upgraded to a room one level higher than the one I had booked, possibly because there was availability. The 60 square meter room felt a bit too spacious for one person, but it was very relaxing. Both the private open-air bath attached to the room and the open-air bath in the large public bath were wonderful. Since there are fewer rooms to begin with, the absolute number of guests is also small, allowing for a nice experience of soaking quietly in the hot spring alone. The meals were simple, but I was able to enjoy food with sufficient taste and quantity. There was also a free coffee service in the morning, and I was able to spend my time pleasantly from start to finish. I would like to use this place again when I visit the Shimoda area.
