    I was truly impressed.

    I’d heard the rumors, and they were true: the setting, hospitality, and cuisine were all outstanding. I’ve always felt that the Tokugawa family helped shape the foundations of Japanese culture, and Shiraisi-ya is said to be an even older establishment with over 300 years of history. I felt as though I experienced the secret to its longevity firsthand. I’d gladly recommend it to friends.

    With the dignified atmosphere of a long-established inn and well-trained staff, I was able to enjoy a very comfortable stay. Above all, the staff were always smiling; I visited during a break from my busy work schedule and left feeling recharged. Thank you very much.

    An Accommodation filled with heartfelt hospitality

    My spouse and I stayed here during our visit to Izumo Taisha Shrine.\nWe had an upgraded Japanese-style Room; it felt a bit dated, but it was very well maintained and comfortable.\nThe baths, including the open-air bath, were very clean, and the Onsen was excellent—deeply relaxing.\nEvery dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and quite filling; we were both completely satisfied.\nMost notably, in every moment—check-in, being shown to our Room, meal service, and check-out—the staff’s thoughtful and attentive hospitality made us feel truly welcome. It was a very pleasant Accommodation.\nWe heard there are many repeat guests, which makes perfect sense. (There were hardly any inbound tourists.)\nIt’s an Accommodation we would love to visit again if we have the chance.\nThank you for taking such good care of us.

    Warm hospitality for a truly satisfying stay

    It was my first time visiting Izumo Taisha and Tamatsukuri Onsen. I chose Shiraishiya as my Accommodation based on Reviews, and it turned out to be absolutely the right choice. Every staff member who assisted us was outstanding—true professionals with heartfelt hospitality. The team was mainly young, efficient, and their smiles left a strong impression. Because of our flight schedule, we had an early check-out, but they parked our car right in front of the front desk, handled the payment the day before, and smoothly guided us through a delicious breakfast so we could depart exactly as planned. We even received a message from the woman in charge of our meal service—an Accommodation that cared for us until the very end. I will definitely stay here again next time.

    We were extremely satisfied.

    We came from Ibaraki Prefecture to support Susamaji and chose to stay at Shiraishiya. The baths, meals, and service were all excellent, and we were very satisfied. It would have been perfect if the breakfast buffet had included wariko soba, but that’s asking too much. The handwritten message card left on our car’s dashboard warmed our hearts. We would love to stay at Shiraishiya again.

    The Onsen and meals are excellent.

    The Onsen is clear and odorless, but it leaves your skin smooth and keeps you warm even after bathing. The open-air bath has no view, but it still felt great. The meals were very delicious and quite filling. The hospitality and service were excellent. The Hotel is a bit old. There was a container of ice water in the refrigerator, but I didn’t feel like drinking it, so I would have appreciated bottled water being provided. The projection mapping was much more interesting than I expected and really enjoyable.

    A single word: “Satisfied.”

    We stayed for two nights in the Premium Room to fully enjoy Shimane. The Room photos at the time of Reservation felt a bit flashy, so I was honestly a little worried, but the actual Room was very clean—calm rather than showy—with plenty of space, and we were able to relax comfortably. The water quality of the open-air bath in the Room was very gentle on the skin, and my wife, who struggles with allergies, was very satisfied as it suited her well. What impressed us most were the breakfast and dinner served in our Room. The presentation harmonized beautifully with the tableware, and each dish was served at just the right temperature to bring out its best. We truly enjoyed it with all five senses. The staff’s hospitality was also perfect. Their lively, attentive service showed us what truly makes this Accommodation special. I’ve written a lot, but in one word: “Satisfied!”

    This Accommodation offers truly wonderful hospitality.

    While traveling around the San’in region, I was looking for an Onsen town. I live in Tokyo and this was my first visit to San’in. A friend who lives in Kansai told me, “Tamatsukuri Onsen is great,” and it also worked well for our route, so we chose Tamatsukuri Onsen and picked Shiraishiya on a whim (laughs). They picked us up at the station and welcomed us at the entrance. From that first impression, I thought, “This is a great Accommodation!” All of the staff were young and full of smiles. The Room had a calm atmosphere, and my friend traveling with me was thrilled as well. Everywhere in the building was kept spotlessly clean, and of course the baths were very relaxing. At dinner, a staff member assisted us and carefully explained each dish with such sincerity that it left a wonderful impression. The next morning’s breakfast buffet didn’t have an overwhelming number of items, but everything was delicious and there was more than enough variety for breakfast; I especially enjoyed the shijimi clam soup. There were also areas introducing the staff and sharing the Accommodation’s history, which I really appreciated. It was clear how well trained everyone is—their smiles and energetic approach to their work were fantastic. We also enjoyed the evening projection mapping show. It had been a while since I stayed at such a wonderful Accommodation, and it made my trip to San’in truly memorable.

    A highly recommended accommodation.

    I was very satisfied with the Facility, meals, and the attentive service from the staff. The rice porridge served at breakfast, cooked in clam broth, was exquisite—so good that it alone makes me want to stay again. If I have a chance to visit that area again, I would love to stay here once more.

    Excellent service

    I happened to make a Reservation at a Ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen, and it turned out to be an outstanding place with exceptionally high service standards. You can truly feel that the management’s vision—“this is the kind of Ryokan we want to be”—is shared by the staff, which made my stay very comfortable. While I believe Room size and food quality generally reflect the price (the Room, meals, garden, and events were all excellent), service is something that cannot be measured by price alone. I sincerely hope the profits are returned to the employees.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

    The staff were not only courteous and welcoming, but also offered thoughtful touches such as a choice of yukata, impeccably clean rooms, a pitcher of chilled water in the refrigerator, and a power strip on the table—every detail made our stay truly enjoyable. Of course, the meals and the Onsen were wonderful as well.

    The Delight of Thoughtful Hospitality and Projection Mapping

    We stayed here as our Accommodation for a trip to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. The lobby was beautifully decorated when we entered the Ryokan, and the flower arrangement at the front was especially lovely. For dinner, I contacted them in advance about my wife’s food allergies and ingredients she dislikes, and they accommodated us with great care. Every ingredient had a deep flavor, and we were truly impressed. We also received a congratulatory message for her 60th birthday along with red chopsticks, which made my wife very happy—thank you very much. We were soothed by this Ryokan’s unique hospitality, including the projection mapping introducing the four seasons of San’in with stunning visuals and lighting effects, as well as the fantastical scenery spread across the Sea of Clouds Garden. We also enjoyed the Onsen at a relaxed pace. It was a very fulfilling stay.

    Perfect for a girls’ getaway

    Four women in our 50s stayed here and made a Reservation for an 8-tatami Japanese-style room with the “small-portion gourmet kaiseki” dinner. The staff’s hospitality was outstanding. At dinner, a message card from our attendant and a coaster with their illustrated portrait were waiting at our seats. Ryokan dinners can often be too filling and leave you feeling heavy the next day, but this small-portion gourmet kaiseki was just right for us—and delicious. The Facility is old, but well maintained, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We were even more touched to find another message card from the dinner staff placed on the dashboard of our rental car that had been parked for us. It made for a wonderful trip.

    I had a very comfort...

    I had a very comfortable stay. The Accommodation staff’s warm, thoughtful greetings felt genuinely natural and kind, and made me feel truly welcomed as a guest. I was also happy that I didn’t have to worry about towels in the bath. Dinner was delicious as well, but the French toast and fluffy pancakes at the breakfast buffet were especially wonderful.

    Overall, the staff and the proprietress all seemed to be working very hard. However, since the price was relatively low, I can’t complain too much, but there were some issues: the indoor temperature setting was too high; because of where the Room air conditioner was installed (on a protruding section), it took a long time for the Room to cool down; and the refrigerator also didn’t get cold easily. The meals were quite disappointing on the first day, but I was very satisfied on the second day. The morning buffet coffee machine was UCC, but it served regular coffee instead of espresso, so I couldn’t have an espresso, which was disappointing. At least I would like them to switch to a Nestlé machine.

    Room Odor

    I recently stayed for one night. I was satisfied with the service and the bath. However, there was one disappointing point that I hope can be improved. There was an ammonia smell in the toilet and bathroom of the guest room, which made me feel dissatisfied with hygiene. Using odorless products like alkaline electrolyzed water might be a simple solution. Please consider this suggestion.

    The meals were excellent.

    Stayed during Obon. This accommodation is often described as offering great hospitality, and while that may be true, it did not meet our preference for maintaining a quiet and moderate distance from the staff. It felt more like a casual, family-oriented large-scale accommodation. The room had an unpleasant smell in the restroom, so we used the restroom outside the room. Additionally, there were no complimentary bottled water provided in the room—a first for us at both ryokans and business hotels recently. Considering current times, it would be appreciated if bottled water could be provided. Furthermore, in the public bath area, there was a young boy old enough to walk present in the women’s bath area, which was uncomfortable. Are there any age restrictions? While babies are understandable, those who can walk and talk should use the men’s bath. As for meals, nothing stood out as particularly delicious; however, they were well-balanced overall. This was our first time visiting Tamatsukuri Onsen but we will not stay here again.

    Room Information Display and an Unforgettable Accommodation

    At the time of booking, it was shown as a Standard Type 8-tatami Room, and I made a Reservation for the premium kaiseki meal with the Standard Type 8-tatami Room. However, the Room actually consisted of three rooms—about 10 tatami mats, about 8 tatami mats, and a dressing room—which surprised me. The wall art and the flowers in the alcove were all wonderful, and everything was spotless, including a four-seat sofa. I was impressed by every detail. I think it would be better to improve how this is described in the listing. The bath facilities were also great, and we were fully satisfied with the considerate service attitude as well.

    This is a very nice accommodation.

    The meals and the Room were great. Although it’s self-service, coffee and tea are available in the lobby. Women can choose from a selection of yukata. There was a massage chair in the large public bath, which was very relaxing. The food was delicious, and after the evening projection mapping, they took photos for us in the garden. The Ryokan staff were the nicest we’ve encountered at any place we’ve stayed so far. This is the first time I’ve wanted to recommend a place to friends.

    Warm Accommodation

    It was an Accommodation with a wonderfully warm atmosphere. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, making for a truly pleasant stay. In the morning, I woke up a little early and took a walk around the Onsen town; the streets had a charming, traditional feel. The projection mapping was also beautifully done, with stunning visuals that made me want to come back in every season.
