    The meals are delicious.

I made a Reservation to watch the Atami fireworks festival during summer vacation. Watching the fireworks from the Room’s open-air bath was amazing. It can’t be helped, but since the Facility is old, there was a sewage smell at times, so it might be worth considering improvements to the plumbing and water areas. The meals were very delicious, and I was satisfied.

    A memorable journey to cherish

After a long period of caring for our parents, we decided it was time to take a trip. To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this year, we chose a short getaway to Atami and stayed at WA-tei Kazekomichi. We were soothed by the view and greenery from the open-air bath in our Room, enjoyed a delicious dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, and it became a healing trip we will always remember.

It was a nice, relaxing accommodation.

Searched for Accommodation with an open-air bath in the Room The Room was exactly what we wanted, and we had a wonderful holiday—no need to carry bath items or a change of clothes to the large public bath, and we could enjoy the Onsen whenever we liked. We chose a Plan with breakfast only. The dried horse mackerel was very delicious. For us, who can’t eat that much, it was just the right amount. Enjoying coffee in the lounge while taking in the lovely view overlooking the harbor was also wonderful. Although it felt like being nestled in the woods, we didn’t see any insects. It was a lovely Accommodation that we would like to use again.

    First Trip to Atami

I chose this property for my first trip to Atami because I loved the atmosphere in the photos. Since I planned to eat in the shopping street, I booked a No Meals Included plan this time. The location is a bit far from the station and involves an uphill walk, so they provide a Shuttle Service. From a few days before arrival up to the day of check-in, they frequently called with Shuttle Service guidance. Upon arrival, they kindly explained everything about the Room and handled check-in smoothly. I stayed in the “Aoi” Room, which was spacious, calm, and very comfortable. The private open-air bath attached to the Room was great—there is cool air blowing from above, so I could enjoy soaking for a long time. You can’t see the ocean from the open-air bath, but it was still wonderful. There aren’t any convenience stores nearby, but complimentary water, tea, juice, and soda were provided in the Room, so it wasn’t an issue at all. Thanks to you, it became a lovely trip to Atami.

    I’m more than satisfied.

I was truly impressed by this wonderful Accommodation! I stayed in Kiritsubo (303), and was especially amazed by the attentive care of adjusting the temperature of the open-air bath in the Room to suit my preference. The tub is large enough for four adults, so my friend and I could stretch out our legs and relax while chatting. Surrounded by greenery with fresh air, soaking in the Onsen while looking down over Sagami Bay was completely satisfying in terms of water quality, temperature, and scenery. The meals were top-class in every respect—presentation, taste, portion size, and even the tableware. The food alone would have been more than enough to satisfy me, but when we saw a whole wasabi root served with the sashimi and said, “It would be great if we could make a wasabi rice bowl with what’s left,” they kindly met our hopes by preparing bonito flakes and soy sauce for our final dish. That thoughtful service was another highlight. If I had to mention one thing, it would be helpful during the coming season if the lounge coffee and tea service also included something cold—even just chilled water. There are complimentary drinks in the Room refrigerator as well, but having freely available drinking water would feel even more reassuring in hot weather. That said, this is honestly the first time in my life I’ve found an Accommodation this satisfying. If I have the chance, I would definitely like to visit again.

    It was very good.

Because the Reviews were so positive, I was curious and stayed this time. It was wonderful. The bath temperature in the Room was perfect. The temperature control is excellent. I was very happy that there were plenty of vegetables in the meals. I could eat a lot without feeling guilty. The dried fish in the morning was also nicely fatty and delicious. I don’t usually eat much breakfast, but it was so good that I ate a lot. All of the staff were pleasant, and I felt at ease throughout my stay. Thank you very much. It made a lovely Mother’s Day gift. Thank you for taking such great care of us. Thank you again.

It was a wonderful way to celebrate my son’s university acceptance.

The Room, hospitality, and food were all outstanding—nothing to complain about. If I had to mention one thing, I only wish the Room chair reclined or was a bit softer. My son has a big appetite and even during Golden Week he had a daily calorie limit, but despite being a picky eater he ate heartily. We made several requests regarding the meals due to preferences and allergies, but you kindly accommodated us. We are truly glad we chose this Accommodation.

    Every visit has been...

Every visit has been wonderful. The open-air bath and the meals are outstanding. However, there is no elevator, so it was tough to carry our luggage upstairs when leaving. Also, if possible, having a bed would be great so we could lie down right away. We definitely want to come again.

It was a very comfortable accommodation.

My spouse and I stayed one night in the Sawarabi (302) Room. From the pick-up at Atami Station to being shown to our Room, everything was handled with great care, and the meals and the in-Room Onsen were all wonderful, allowing us to relax and rest comfortably. The third-floor Room was convenient with no need for stairs, and it was nice to go up one more level to enjoy the view and coffee in the lounge. Of course, the view from the spacious open-air bath in the Room was also fantastic. As a train lover, I especially enjoyed leaning out from the open-air bath whenever local lines or Shinkansen passed by. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed the variety of flavors as well. We also made a few requests, and thank you for responding thoughtfully to each one. I think this is a pleasant Accommodation that I can recommend to anyone.

    Perhaps because ther...

Perhaps because there are only a few Rooms, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. However, as there is no elevator, going back and forth between a first-floor Room and the restaurant and front desk on the 4th floor may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. We were shown to our Room immediately after arrival, and just as our expectations rose for such a lovely Room, we opened the in-room refrigerator and found a half-finished beer left by the previous guest, which was disappointing. Other than that, both the meals and the bath in the Room were excellent.

    I want to go too.

I gifted my parents a one-night trip to celebrate my father’s 77th birthday. They were warmly welcomed and happily told me about the delicious food, the view from the Room, and how they enjoyed the in-room open-air bath seven times, so I’m glad I chose this Accommodation. Thank you very much.

The staff are very courteous and the service is good, but

We stayed as a couple. We have visited Atami many times, and this time our main purpose was to visit Atami Plum Garden. We chose this Accommodation because it had a relatively high rating in IKYU Reviews. As others have noted, the hospitality was exactly as reputed—prompt responses to pre-stay requests, Shuttle Service, carrying our suitcases to the Room, and providing floor chairs (zaisu), among other thoughtful touches. The “Ukifune” bath lived up to its reputation: spacious enough for two people, with just the right water temperature. We soaked longer than usual and felt wonderfully warmed through. However, going up and down the stairs between “Ukifune” on the first floor and the lobby level on the fourth floor felt more tiring than expected, even though we knew it in advance. The Room was spacious and comfortable. The décor, amenities, complimentary drinks in the refrigerator, and being able to bring complimentary drinks from the lobby level back to the Room all added up to more than adequate service. If I had one request, it would be that overall lighting in the Room was quite dim; for makeup or shaving, a brighter vanity light would have been helpful. A bedside nightstand would also make it even more comfortable (it seems there may be rental items available). When we switched to BS channels to watch the Winter Olympics, unfortunately it appeared there was no BS subscription—the NHK warning message remained on screen throughout. My wife has knee issues; we did not look into details about the bed beforehand, but she found that stepping up onto the Japanese-style bed platform required a fairly high step and that getting up from bed was difficult. Since there are many stairs throughout this Accommodation by design, it may not be suitable for guests with concerns about their legs or mobility. The interior has been nicely renovated overall; however, we noticed issues such as the quality of carpet on some stairways and slightly loose handrails. There were also flowers displayed along parts of the stairs as decoration; they seemed due for replacement. Regarding meals—this may sound a bit strict—but we felt they did not go beyond what you would expect at an average Ryokan. Compared with our past experiences elsewhere, we did not feel much differentiation in flavor. In particular, unusual tableware and artificial elements such as “seaweed crystals,” as well as plastic sheets or paper used under part of some presentations were disappointing. Given that this is priced accordingly, we would have appreciated more attention such as better selection of tableware itself (without relying on gimmicks), more carefully prepared salts or soy sauces with extra craftsmanship behind them,, or handmade garnishes for sashimi. As a small Ryokan,, they seem to be making efforts within a limited scope.. However,, there were also points that did not feel commensurate with this price range.. We hope continued improvements will follow..

    The Best Private Open-Air Bath

The natural Onsen offers an abundant water supply. The bath is spacious enough to stretch out comfortably. From the bath, you can enjoy views of the mountains, Atami city, and the sea. It seems that the bathwater is completely drained and thoroughly cleaned each time, ensuring a pleasant bathing experience without any slippery feeling. The open-air bath attached to the Room was the most comfortable I have ever experienced.

    First Stay

Great location, excellent open-air bath in the room, and decent food. However, it was disappointing that the beer served at the beginning of the meal after bathing was not cold enough. Compared to accommodations in a similar price range, the service did not meet expectations. The dinner explanation felt rushed and one-sided, as if staff were trying hard not to forget their memorized lines. It would be better to ask if there are any questions before proceeding for basic communication. While we appreciated help with our luggage, more care should be taken with coats. Despite handing over my coat separately from my bag, a melton coat was folded and forcibly stuffed into the bag—this is unacceptable.

    It was a wonderful time.

I stayed during the New Year season. I have stayed at various ryokans in Atami, but this accommodation provided a warm and comfortable experience with hospitality from Japanese staff. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail were uniquely Japanese. The meals were not only delicious but also beautifully presented on lovely plates, making the presentation enjoyable as well. The surprise of receiving snacks for a late-night treat was delightful. Additionally, I was touched to find a hot water bottle prepared in my room upon returning. Although there is no large public bath, the room's private bath was spacious with a great view, and I enjoyed it multiple times. I would love to stay here again!

    First Time in Atami

This was my first time staying in Atami, although I have visited Izu several times. The accommodation is located at the end of a rather narrow road. While the parking lot was a bit far, we were provided with guidance and shuttle service. The front desk and dining area are on the first floor, while our room (Aoi) was on the fourth basement floor, requiring us to use stairs for access. However, they helped carry our luggage during check-in and check-out, which was very helpful. The room was spacious with a layout we liked. However, the air conditioner in the living area only emitted a gentle breeze even when set to high temperature and strong airflow. It wasn’t unbearable but felt cold and less comfortable. The open-air bath in our room had excellent water quality and allowed us to relax in its spacious tub. As for dinner, the portion size felt just right for an older couple like us. Personally speaking though, those who enjoy drinking alcohol might find it slightly bland or lacking flavor. Both dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared with careful attention to detail. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. Thank you very much!

    Second stay

This was my second stay at this accommodation because I loved it so much the first time. This time, I stayed in a corner room on the second floor, and both the room and the onsen were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious. The view from the onsen was oceanfront, and soaking in the onsen while watching the sunrise made me forget about everyday life. The staff were friendly and provided great service. One small concern was that one part of the toilet seemed to need repair, though it didn’t affect its usability—I just wondered why it hadn’t been fixed yet. Still, I love Wa-tei so much that I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for a wonderful time!

    A Relaxing Mountain Retreat Accommodation

I stayed at this accommodation during my first visit to Atami. The onsen in the room, which can be used anytime and is open-air, is definitely one of its charms. Additionally, since there are only a few rooms, the entire accommodation is quiet and peaceful without any noise. Although there’s no elevator (as mentioned during a prior phone call), it means no waiting for elevators or overcrowding issues. While it might be challenging for elderly guests, I see it as a positive aspect too. The meals were well-balanced with meat, fish, and vegetables; however, the fish dishes were particularly delicious (e.g., Saikyo-yaki grilled fish, sashimi, grilled fish for breakfast). Since Atami seems more famous for its seafood than meat dishes, I’m glad I could enjoy that aspect fully. The staff's hospitality was very polite and left a good impression—not necessarily because of the price range but genuinely attentive service. As for concerns about facilities: - The water supply to the toilet tank was slow; when trying to flush in portions to avoid clogging paper, it took so long that I was surprised. - It also took quite some time for hot water to come out from the shower in the bathroom—I even wondered if there was an extra step needed just to get hot water! Regarding phone placement: calls came during meals or shuttle service times but having phones placed inside drawers seemed unnecessary. Whether this applies only to my room ("Aoi") or all rooms isn’t clear; however: - When drawers are closed, sound gets muffled making calls hard to hear. - You need to open drawers just to answer them. If calls are essential at this accommodation (as they seem), placing phones on top of tables would make more sense—even if it's part of maintaining a traditional aesthetic theme here (though TVs/kettles/refrigerators are visible anyway). It made me wonder why only phones were hidden. Despite minor inconveniences with facilities' usability overall—it’s an accommodation where satisfaction outweighs those small issues!

Absolutely wonderful, would love to stay again.

The view from the open-air bath, the hospitality of the staff, and the delicious food made this Ryokan truly exceptional. It's understandable why reservations are often booked far in advance, but I definitely want to stay here again. One minor concern was that it sometimes took a while for hot water to come out of the shower (though at times it came out immediately). The walls between rooms seem thick, allowing for a quiet and peaceful night. I also appreciated the thoughtful gestures and small surprises during my stay.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

I stayed with the 1-night, 2-day plan with breakfast included and no dinner. The service, including the Shuttle Service, was absolutely wonderful. When I called the front desk to borrow a wine opener, they also brought wine glasses and a wine cooler, which was incredibly thoughtful. The Room was spotless and very clean. With plenty of bath towels provided, I was able to enjoy the open-air bath multiple times. The breakfast was also very delicious. Next time, I would love to try staying in a different Room. I was able to relax and unwind from daily fatigue, and I am grateful for such a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    Hmm, unfortunate.

With a limited number of rooms, I appreciated being able to enjoy my stay without worrying about other guests from check-in to check-out. Previously, the accommodation showed thoughtful consideration by arranging meals and check-outs through front desk communication to avoid overlapping with other guests. Has the management policy changed? This time, check-in was rushed and conducted in the lobby instead of the room, and meals and check-outs seemed to be handled all at once without care for timing, resulting in guests lining up noisily. To make matters worse, during checkout, cleaning staff entered the room abruptly while I was still inside. I wanted a relaxing experience but felt no sense of quiet hospitality or comfort this time. Is this part of workplace reform? Has the focus shifted towards minimizing effort and completing tasks quickly? It’s truly disappointing as I had been so fond of this place.

    I had a pleasant stay.

We stayed on the day of the fireworks. We were wondering where we could see them, but we had a beautiful view from the balcony of our room. The bath, as mentioned in other reviews, was spacious enough to lie down with plenty of room to spare. The open sky and the view overlooking Atami's town and sea made soaking in the hot water an amazing experience. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and served in small portions, which were very delicious. I was happy that warm dishes were served properly warm. The only slight disappointment was not having a bed, but everything else made for a very pleasant stay. The service provided by all staff members was excellent as well. Thank you very much!

I chose this place for the private open-air bath in the room, and it was truly amazing. The bath was so spacious and fantastic that I kept using it multiple times, even losing sleep (haha). The meals were delicious as well. I especially enjoyed the breakfast with a variety of small dishes to try. Thank you also for providing round-trip Shuttle Service!

    For your special occasion.

I stayed at Ukifune (101) with dinner and breakfast included. The room was elegant as described, and I was deeply impressed! The amenities were all branded products of excellent quality. The staff provided very polite service from start to finish, making the experience pleasant. The onsen came with a private open-air bath in the room, which was absolutely satisfying! Although Ukifune 101 required descending stairs from the entrance to the 4th basement floor without an elevator, the high level of hospitality made it no issue as they kindly assisted with luggage. The lobby had a drink bar where coffee from a De'Longhi machine was free! There were also various teas available. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional with plenty of variety. The rice was served in an earthen pot, and enjoying sashimi with the chef's original natto sauce was incredibly delicious! I visited during Obon season but definitely want to return in another season. It’s such a wonderful ryokan that makes you feel this way. Thank you very much!

    Charming Accommodation

Overall, the responsiveness and communication skills were lacking. The surprise plan was a major failure, possibly due to a communication error among the staff. The atmosphere was ruined as shouting voices from the room below could be heard. Mistakes can happen to anyone, but if there had been a simple apology at checkout, it would have ended without leaving a bad impression. With fewer minor mistakes and more consideration, this could become an excellent accommodation. On a positive note, I thought the quality of the meals was high. If only the service improves, I believe this place has great potential to become an even better accommodation. Keep up the effort!

    A Relaxing and Heartwarming Experience

Once again, I was able to spend a special time here. Despite the stronger wind than usual, soaking in the 41°C Onsen allowed me to listen to the occasional chirping of warblers and other birds while watching leaves dance in the breeze. The sight of strong gusts swaying the trees and creating pathways for the wind was also memorable. While soaking in the bath, I would step out to cool down with the breeze when my body got warm, then return to soak again. Repeating this process while quietly exchanging words made time flow gently and peacefully. During meals, I noticed that even the tableware was different from last time, showing thoughtful consideration for returning guests. Each stay brings new discoveries and delightful surprises. I feel truly fortunate to have found this accommodation. No matter what season or weather it may be, this accommodation always offers a charming expression of each season's beauty. I look forward to visiting again.

I had a great experience last time, so I’m visiting again.

I requested the same room as last time. The onsen's temperature and view were as excellent as ever. The meals were all delicious, and even the tableware was delightful. The hospitality here is outstanding. However, the screen door in the room was broken, and when I mentioned it to a male staff member, he seemed aware of it but skillfully avoided addressing it, which made me feel uncomfortable. If it's known, I wish it would be fixed promptly. Other than that, everything was wonderful, and I plan to make this my regular accommodation moving forward. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Thank you very much!
