    Overcapacity

    Check-in and restaurant entry involve long queues. Dinner and breakfast are divided into three time slots, and if you don't reserve your preferred time in advance, only early or late times are available. The buffet is served on large plates similar to those used at home rather than in large containers that retain heat like other hotels, so the food runs out quickly. The taste was excellent, which made it all the more disappointing. The focus on stylish presentation compromises functionality. I was surprised to see beer glasses being replaced with rock glasses for bottled beer. The staff are mostly young and provide polite service, which is appreciated; however, they cannot handle situations flexibly beyond the manual instructions. They promote experience tours available during your stay but seem awkward as if they were forced to do so for sales purposes, which felt a bit pitiful. The location and onsen were excellent!

    The breakfast and dinner buffets were delightful, with every dish being delicious. The hospitality of all the staff, including those at the front desk, was excellent, reflecting thorough employee training. The evening briefing for the stream walk was clear and informative, allowing us to make the most of our time and enjoy a fantastic experience. The shuttle bus service was also a much-appreciated convenience.

    Hoshino Resorts, including HOSHINOYA Fuji and HOSHINOYA Kyoto, have been highly rated for their friendly and skilled staff. However, during this stay, I was surprised by a male staff member who carried two suitcases from the car during check-in. He extended the retractable handle without permission and lifted the suitcase off the ground using it, which felt alarming. The suitcase was purchased at a department store where I was specifically advised never to lift it by the retractable handle. Please ensure thorough training on proper handling of guests' belongings.

    Highly Satisfied

    It was a stay at the hotel that one night wasn't enough. Next time, I’d like to stay for about two nights and enjoy activities. The staff were truly kind, from the front desk to the restaurant team, providing excellent service. The buffet exceeded my expectations with delicious apple dishes, and I was fully satisfied with both breakfast and dinner. The fresh greenery of Oirase Gorge was filled with negative ions, offering a refreshing experience. I would even recommend it to my friends. If given another opportunity, I would love to stay again!

    Highly recommended!

    Second stay. The West Wing lobby has been beautifully renovated, making it even more pleasant. The morning exercise on the terrace was fantastic. Both the meals and the baths were excellent. Highly recommended!

    Second visit in a year.

    This was my second visit following last year, during the same season. I love the fresh greenery of this time and was especially looking forward to the open bus tour along the stream. I reserved an afternoon bus, and with great weather and a seat on the second floor, it felt like becoming one with the forest as we passed through tunnels of trees. The guide's commentary was insightful, making the journey to Lake Towada feel quick. At the Hotel, my favorite spot was "Forest Myth," where large windows framed lush greenery and a faint scent of firewood provided relaxation. During dinner at the buffet, I ordered draft Oirase BEER—it was perfectly chilled and absolutely delicious! This time I stayed for two nights, allowing for a more leisurely experience compared to my previous visit. The library at Stream BASE is well-stocked with books related to Oirase and Aomori—highly recommended! This is a Hotel that never gets old no matter how many times you visit. While I love visiting during this season of fresh greenery, thanks to advice from our guide about how beautiful it is during budding season too, I'd like to return in another season next time!

    Recommended for groups of two or more for cost efficiency.

    The price for one person, including dinner and breakfast, was 50,000 yen, but it would have been more satisfying if it were a bit more affordable. There were many guests from Korea and China, and their behavior and loud voices were somewhat noticeable. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes, almost all of which were delicious and satisfying.

    I had a relaxing stay.

    This was my first stay at a Hoshino Resort, and I had high expectations. The design of the accommodation, blending harmoniously with nature, was truly impressive. I particularly enjoyed the fireplace area with the welcome drink service. The room was spacious enough, featuring tatami mats, a bed, and a sofa that met basic needs for relaxation. However, there were three disappointing points about the room: - The view from the room mostly consisted of rooftops, which was underwhelming. - There was no table for in-room dining, making it inconvenient. - Noise from children running around in the room above echoed loudly and disrupted peace. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options and was almost perfect. It would have been 100% satisfying if there had been ingredients like salmon roe (masu roe?) as one of the main dishes. The young staff provided very pleasant service overall. However, since it was April, I noticed several on-the-job training sessions taking place during guest interactions. This somewhat broke the sense of escape from reality that one expects at such accommodations; thus I felt improvements could be made to training methods or locations. Overall satisfaction was high, and I would love to try another facility in the future!

    Repeat stays welcome.

    I had always wanted to stay at this hotel. This time, my purpose was accommodation, but I was glad to join the morning Oirase Stream tour. (I didn’t know that it’s not possible to explore the stream at the end of March due to snow.) Since I want to explore the stream, I will definitely come back again next time.

    Anniversary Trip

    This was my first visit to Aomori, and I enjoyed experiencing it with snow still on the ground. I was welcomed by a lovely lounge and enjoyed a welcome drink before heading to the dinner buffet. The buffet had so many options that I couldn’t try them all, but the local Aomori dishes and apple juice tasting were delicious. I also appreciated the photo service for our special occasion. The cleanliness of the changing area in the Onsen was another highlight for me. There wasn’t anything I was dissatisfied with, but... After a morning bath, it would have been nice if apple juice were available instead of ice pops. The view from the open-air bath was beautiful, and the water temperature was just right. Although it was cold outside, that’s understandable given the season. The bed firmness suited me perfectly, and thanks to the humidifier, dryness in the room wasn’t an issue. Even before my stay, your prompt and courteous responses to my email inquiries gave me peace of mind about visiting. Thank you very much!

    Off-season

    The staff's service was courteous, making our stay very pleasant. The welcome drink was delicious, and it was a delightful rediscovery of apple juice. This is more than just an accommodation; it's a hotel where you'd want to stay longer.

    The air conditioner ...

    The air conditioner in the room is noisy, making it difficult to sleep, which is very inconvenient. Compared to Aomoriya, the cost performance is lower, and the room feels slightly outdated.

    A very ordinary Resort Hotel

    Although there was nothing particularly unpleasant, there was no sense of specialness or anything impressive except for the high-ceilinged lobby interior. PayPay was available at the shop, but not at the front desk (cash or cash card only). The buffet offered various apple-based dishes, but there was nothing particularly special or impressive. The most disappointing was the apple pie. It was made by putting apple filling in a cup, covering it with pie crust, and baking it. There was only a single 2cm cube of apple, and the amount of filling was so little that the pie crust, which was baked stuck to the container, couldn't be removed cleanly. It was a very disappointing dessert despite its good appearance... I think I would have been impressed if it had been a properly filled apple pie, given its nice appearance. When the shuttle bus arrived at the Hotel, the staff entered the bus to give instructions before disembarking, and their English was so poor that I thought foreign tourists might not understand what was being said. It felt like reading out katakana without any intonation, and the former English teacher accompanying me was holding their head, saying, "I'm breaking out in a cold sweat. It's embarrassing... Does this mean Japan's English education was bad...?" I don't think there's a need to give instructions in incomprehensible English when there are many foreign tourists who are not good at English. I was frustrated because I thought we had finally arrived at the Hotel, but we couldn't get off for a while.

    Perfect for a relaxing adult trip.

    I used the Hotel without much research, but it turned out to be excellent. The best part was the location, the calm atmosphere, the moments in the lounge, the moss presentation, and the food was also good. Although it is far from Kagoshima, the convenience is not bad, and I would like to use it again in a different season.

    Relax and unwind surrounded by a mountain stream and forest.

    This Hotel is in a wonderful location—quiet, with clean, fresh air. The buffet-style meals were delicious, and I appreciated being able to take only as much as I could eat. The staff were efficient, kind, and attentive throughout my stay. My Room had an open-air bath, so I was happy to enjoy the warm Onsen anytime. There were plenty of activities available, which made it easy for me to fully enjoy the riverside nature even as a solo traveler without a car—I never once got bored. The guided streamside walk was especially fun and highly recommended.

    It was used by a large family.

    We stayed for the first time on a big family trip with my husband and I, our two daughters and their families, and our son, totaling eight people. We stayed for two nights and were satisfied with everything. Despite the large number of people, we had four adjacent rooms, and we were provided with seats together for meals. We are planning to use it again due to the comfort as reputed.
