All of the staff were very kind. The meals were delicious, and we were very satisfied. It was an Onsen in midsummer, but the slightly lukewarm water was just right and very relaxing. If possible, we would appreciate it if cleansing products, lotion, and towels could also be provided in the bath area.

    I enjoyed a relaxing, adults-only getaway.

Both the bath and the meals were excellent. The Hotel had a calm atmosphere, and the other guests were quiet as well, so I was able to unwind from city fatigue. This was my second stay, and I would like to stay again.

    A Refreshing Summer Onsen Experience

Although the sky was unfortunately overcast, it was the perfect season to comfortably soak in the lukewarm natural spring water, and it felt wonderful! The meals are delicious and full of healthy options, and combined with the Onsen benefits, I feel better every time I stay. Perhaps because I kept coming back, my frozen shoulder has completely healed! The summer à la carte fried rock oysters were especially delicious—I’d love to have them again next year! This was my first Saturday stay, and I enjoyed listening to a jazz piano performance. It matched beautifully with the mysterious flicker of the bamboo lights in the garden and was incredibly soothing. There were familiar tunes and summer songs, and in the second half they even took requests, so there was a great variety of music and it was truly enjoyable. Ending with “Cradle Song” was also a stylish touch. I’m looking forward to visiting again in autumn.

I was able to relax and unwind.

The building is old, so it may not feel luxurious or sophisticated, but it was clean and the staff’s thoughtful hospitality felt very natural. Surrounded by trees, I could really feel close to nature and relax in my Room at ease. The meals were also delicious. The lukewarm Onsen was very pleasant, and since I personally use a soap-based shampoo for washing my hair, I was happy they provided both a soap shampoo and a regular shampoo. Several kinds of herb-blended welcome drinks were available, and all of them were delicious. I also drank plenty of the radium spring water. I feel refreshed both physically and mentally. Thank you very much.

    A relaxing 3-day, 2-night stay

I had been wanting to visit Choseikan, and I finally did. The meals were outstanding. Since I stayed for two nights, they served different dishes each day, and I was very satisfied with both the quality and the portion sizes. The open-air bath was not too hot, so I could soak at a relaxed pace. Alternating between the cold spring and the Onsen warmed me up thoroughly. I would love to visit again.

    We had a relaxing stay.

They picked us up at Niigata Station, and the drive took about an hour. We also stopped by a lake for around 15 minutes along the way, where we could buy vegetables and rice crackers. The Accommodation was wonderful and relaxing, with a lovely garden view from the window. Best of all was the radon Onsen—soaking slowly and leisurely was amazing. The meals were just the right amount for women. It was an Accommodation that lived up to its reviews.

    Amazing results!

The soothing radium Onsen and delicious meals made me feel better day by day, and I could truly sense my health improving. I was amazed—this is what it means to feel energized. All the staff were pleasant, with attentive service at just the right distance, making the stay very comfortable. The recommended cassis juice was also delicious! The jazz background music throughout the building and the modern yukata patterns were wonderful as well. It’s easy to see why so many guests return. I’ve already made a Reservation for my next visit. I’d like to keep coming back until summer to regain my energy.

    I love Onsen.

I love alternating between hot and cold baths in the open-air bath—it feels wonderful. They also accommodate requests for slightly smaller meals, so I can enjoy everything deliciously without leaving any. Being able to drink the hot spring water is another great feature. For a Multiple Night Stay, you can also request lunch items such as rice balls or soba. I’d like to come again.

Although the large bath is described as a “lukewarm Onsen,” it felt surprisingly satisfying. I mainly used the open-air bath in the large public bath, and it warmed me up thoroughly—so this is what a radon Onsen is like. The garden can be seen at a glance from the Room, with furniture arranged to make the view easy to enjoy. Some of the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and lovely, and I’m sure the scenery from both the Room and the open-air bath would be spectacular during the season of fresh greenery. The Accommodation itself is relatively compact, with convenient access to the large public bath, dining area, and a lobby where you can drink Onsen water. I’d like to stay again, including in a different season.

There was a woman with a smartphone in the large public bath, raising concerns about potential unauthorized photography. It would be better to prohibit items with cameras from being brought in. I would like to use the Onsen multiple times, so it would be nice if bath towels were available in the large public bath. For rooms with private Onsen, it would be great to have more bath towels provided. The private baths had sandy and rough floors; proper cleaning could make them more relaxing. The staff were very kind and helpful, which was excellent. The meals were well-thought-out, perfectly portioned, and delicious. If younger staff could learn to think and act independently through proper training, this Ryokan could become even better. The quality of the Onsen water was excellent, making me want to visit again.

Warm hospitality and elegant, healthy meals

We had a wonderful stay in the "Hanare" Room. Walking through the long private corridor, we reached the entrance of Hanare, where the tea incense burner at the entrance was delightful. All staff provided warm and heartfelt hospitality. The cuisine had a rustic charm with an elegant touch, showcasing meticulous attention to detail in flavor. It was truly exceptional. We would love to visit again!

Refresh with Radium Onsen and delicious cuisine

The room had excellent air conditioning and strong blackout curtains, allowing for a restful sleep. The staff's warm hospitality made for a relaxing stay. The welcome drinks in the lobby and the radium drinking spring were wonderful, and despite the scorching heat, I felt refreshed while enjoying the view of the lush garden. Stepping into the garden, the sound of the pond's water was cooling, and a short walk brought a refreshing breeze. The highlight was undoubtedly the radium onsen's large bath, where you can enjoy a long soak alternating between the mildly warm onsen and the cold spring water amidst a rustic atmosphere. During this season, many onsens can be too hot, but here, it truly rejuvenates both body and mind. The meals featured local ingredients, and the sake was delicious. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again during the cherry blossom or autumn foliage season.

The building itself is not new, but it was well-maintained and clean. The service, including meal arrangements, was attentive. When we informed them in advance that we could not eat meat, they surprised us by substituting it with abalone.

    Lovely open-air bath

I often visit Niigata for onsen trips, but this time, due to a late Shinkansen schedule, I looked for a place near the station and happened to stay at this accommodation. To my pleasant surprise, this accommodation turned out to be so wonderful that it could have been the main purpose of my trip. As mentioned in the reviews, the lovely open-air onsen was exceptional, and the courteous service from the front desk and all the staff made my stay truly enjoyable. In these times when excellent hospitality is becoming rare due to staff shortages, this accommodation, which preserves such a wonderful atmosphere, has become one of the places I definitely want to stay at again. If I may suggest, having a self-service coffee option would be a nice addition. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

    Consistently Delicious

Niigata was slightly cooler and more comfortable compared to Tokyo. I stayed for two nights, and the meals on both occasions were exquisite and delicious. Since I don't drink much alcohol, I appreciated that all the dishes were served together on a tray at once. I look forward to visiting again in spring, summer, autumn, and winter!

A long-established inn founded in 1868, featuring a large garden bath and the finest flavors of Niigata.

I chose this Ryokan because it offered a great Point Rate (over 4.5) and a reasonable price in the 20,000-yen range with two meals included. This is an outstanding Accommodation, with an elegant garden and cuisine that evokes a sense of history. [Dining] The food was flawless—truly excellent. Beautifully presented and carefully seasoned to highlight local seasonal ingredients, it reflected the chef’s dedication. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfying dish by dish, and became the highlight of my stay. [Onsen] The large garden bath was wonderfully open and relaxing, though parts of the changing area and bathing space felt a bit dated. [Room] The Room was spacious and comfortable overall, but it was disappointing that the window glass was slightly dirty. The garden view lost some of its charm when seen through the window as a result. [Hospitality & Service] I felt a little let down that there was no greeting upon check-in. However, service during meals was very attentive, and the staff chatted with me in a friendly way, which made my solo business trip enjoyable. For an independent property, I think this level of staff motivation is impressive. [Facility & Atmosphere] The Japanese garden is exceptional in its beauty. The interior is quiet and filled with an elegant ambiance—an ideal location to forget the bustle of the city. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to experience the charm of a classic Japanese Ryokan. I highly recommend this Accommodation for travelers who prioritize dining when choosing where to stay. Considering the price, I felt it delivered excellent value and satisfaction.

A remarkable Onsen accommodation I happened to find at the last minute.

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days as a couple for therapeutic purposes. We found this hotel by chance while searching for a place to help my husband recover his appetite during the extreme heat, and it turned out to be an amazing onsen accommodation. I initially imagined a simple, school-like accommodation, but I was surprised by the spacious lobby and how grand the hotel was. The welcome drinks were very stylish—Rooibos tea, Radium mint tea (refreshing and delicious), and even Kuromoji tea! It was touching to see how much thought they put into health. The room was clean and spacious, with a view of a 4,000-tsubo garden that looked like a painting. There were extension cords provided for outlets, but having more would have been helpful. It was our first time experiencing Radium onsen. The low temperature made it easy to soak in without strain; my husband, who wasn’t feeling well at first, could stay in for an hour by the third day. As an onsen lover myself, I enjoyed soaking three times daily—morning, afternoon, and evening—for two hours each time! Perhaps due to its hormesis effect? By the second day I noticed improved circulation; swelling in my body reduced significantly. My bronchitis that had troubled me since June disappeared before I realized it! The open-air bath surrounded by nature also had thoughtful measures against insects like dragonfly decorations—excellent attention to detail. The meals were vegetable-focused with gentle seasoning—a healthy yet delicious dining experience tailored perfectly for us during our therapeutic stay. Each day felt like we gradually upgraded towards regular meals over three days—it truly helped us feel balanced from within! Above all else though—the staff serving meals left such warm impressions through their attentive carefulness combined with smiles & quick thinking responses which made every moment special beyond words possible here altogether unforgettable experience overall indeed!

It was a very nice accommodation.

This was our first visit. Upon entering the lobby, we were captivated by the stunning garden. The detached accommodations also had a charming presence. Our room offered a view of a waterfall, and we could relax in chairs placed by the large open windows. The meals featured an abundance of seasonal ingredients with creative menus, and everything was delicious. Breakfast was also nourishing and delightful, with rice so tasty that it made us want seconds. The onsen had pleasantly warm water, allowing us to soak leisurely. As my husband and I are hearing impaired, staying at a new accommodation can be nerve-wracking for us; however, this accommodation kindly communicated through writing and even provided perfect explanations about the meals. We felt truly at ease and relaxed here. It was our first time visiting Gozu Mountain Onsen Village, but we were blessed with the rich benefits of radium onsen along with nature's beauty and wonderful cuisine at this excellent accommodation. We are already talking about visiting again soon! Thank you in advance for your hospitality when that time comes!

I was healed by the Onsen.

I visited to experience the benefits of the radium Onsen. The open-air bath surrounded by fresh greenery was truly refreshing. While I usually prefer hot Onsen, the lukewarm water allowed me to soak for a long time and was very pleasant! I also tried the cold spring, which felt chilly at first, but I thoroughly enjoyed alternating between hot and cold baths. Although I had been feeling unwell and a bit down, I left the accommodation feeling refreshed and uplifted. Both dinner and breakfast were perfectly portioned and delicious for us. The additional order of nanban shrimp exceeded our expectations in quantity, which was a delightful surprise. During my stay, I drank plenty of radium water because it was so delicious that I couldn’t stop drinking it. Even the coffee made with radium water in our room tasted exceptional. We were also able to take some water home in bottles. This is an accommodation we would love to visit again during another season!

An accommodation that suits the rain.

Feeling fatigued at the start of the year, I decided to visit for the hormesis effect of radium Onsen. Upon arrival, it was a traditional Ryokan. There were quite a few day-trip visitors who came specifically for the baths. This time, I stayed in a detached room with an open-air bath. The room overlooked a garden with a pond, offering a serene Japanese atmosphere that was truly relaxing. The garden could be accessed directly from the room for leisurely strolls, and there was also an exclusive smoking area nearby, clearly separated from general guest rooms. The hospitality in general guest rooms might feel standard for its price range; however, staying in the detached accommodation allowed me to enjoy meals served in-room and attentive yet unobtrusive service that made my stay very comfortable without any need to worry about others' presence. Meals were simple but filled with local ingredients and healthy options that gave me a sense of nourishment and care for my body. Every dish paired perfectly with Niigata's renowned rice, making each bite delightful. As for the baths—the main purpose of this trip—the large communal bathhouse featured both indoor and outdoor baths which are considered spacious by Murakami Onsen standards; however, they were quite popular and crowded at times, making it difficult to fully relax there. When rain started falling during my visit to the outdoor bath area (where covered spots became highly sought after), I decided to return early to enjoy my private bath instead. The private indoor bath had lukewarm water while its open-air counterpart offered hotter temperatures—allowing me flexibility based on preference even within my own space. Fortunately, as evening approached during rainy weather conditions fewer guests ventured into exploring gardens outside their accommodations—leaving peaceful moments where I could raise bamboo blinds around personal bathing areas uninterruptedly enjoying tranquil views surrounding wet foliage glistening under rainfall visible directly outdoors enhancing overall relaxation experience beyond just soaking itself! Throughout this stay whenever free time arose spent immersing myself repeatedly rejuvenating waters provided here! Pricing-wise regular guestrooms fall affordable category though satisfaction levels depend largely upon individual expectations/preferences determining choices made beforehand accordingly ensuring optimal enjoyment achieved ultimately leading future revisits likely anticipated!

The best property, I will visit again around June!

Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay. This was our second visit, the first being in September last year. This time, we stayed for three nights to gain more of the hormesis effect. It turned out to be a great decision. We could visibly see the various symptoms in our bodies recovering day by day. The stiffness and pain in my knees, neck, head, back, and waist have softened, and even now that I'm home, my whole body feels light. The hormesis effect was amazing. The service was attentive without being too close or distant during our stay; I appreciated the thoughtful hospitality. As for the meals, although we stayed for three nights, I was surprised that the dinner menu was completely different each night. So I looked forward to dinner every evening and enjoyed every dish immensely. The Onsen is undoubtedly a famous hot spring. While the outdoor open-air bath is spacious and nice, personally I enjoyed soaking slowly in the indoor bath's warm water while inhaling the steam that filled up around me to fully enjoy its hormesis effects. I look forward to visiting your establishment annually from now on as well. I'm excited about possibly visiting again around June next time! Wishing everyone good health!

I would have liked a small snack to be served with the welcome drink. The smell of chlorine in the Onsen was somewhat bothersome. The dinner was a well-balanced meal. I appreciated that my request regarding the futon was accommodated. I would have liked a time slot where coffee and other drinks could be enjoyed for free on the floor.

The attendant was the only one who brought peace to my heart.

IKYU is straightforward with property details and I often use it. I was satisfied with freshly picked mountain vegetables even at a price range of 10,000 yen at a free-flowing standalone house. Even if it's over 50,000 yen, if you're satisfied, that's fine too. There are no disappointments, even if you don't upgrade the meal. I visit various places 5 to 6 times a year, but I've never posted a review before, except this time. Check-out is at 10 AM, and the shuttle service departs at 11 AM. Can I watch MLB in the lobby? → It's not in the lobby, it will be in your room, but there will be an extension fee. From my experience, even if the main building is at 10 AM, the annex is usually at 11 AM → Ours is at 10 AM. I was extremely displeased, so I finally mentioned the food issue. 50,000 yen per person, I was looking forward to the chef's bowl dish, but it was like a big-sized version of the breakfast set. Breakfast was like a business hotel, no dessert, no juice. Wherever I go, I'm surprised by the grandeur of the breakfast, thinking this looks like dinner! and had seconds of rice, but I was disappointed. → Meal upgrades are an additional charge. We are a couple turning 70, and we've been satisfied with the standard wherever we go. The annex costs twice the main building's rate, same food, same check-out, is the difference just the room rate? → Yes. I wonder what the repeat rate for the annex is. In the end, they finally said it's okay to watch TV in the room. We watched Ohtani for about 30 minutes with unpleasant feelings and left. Was it because there were no women at the front desk? No thoughtfulness, no sense of hospitality. What is supposed to be the best? If you hate the monk, you hate the robe too. Radium onsen? I didn't feel it at all. It was a 100,000 yen stay for the two of us.

I was able to stay comfortably.

We were kindly assisted by the staff in various places during our stay, including the Shuttle Service to the station. The service during meals was pleasant, and we enjoyed every dish. The live jazz piano performance held on Saturday night was also very good. The private open-air bath and the open-air bath in the large public bath were comfortable, allowing us to refresh while enjoying the surrounding greenery. In our daily lives, we are often pressed for time and surrounded by various noises, so it was truly wonderful to spend time quietly in a place where we didn't have to do anything, gazing at the green trees and listening to the sounds of insects. Thank you for taking care of us.
