    Was it right before it changed to IHG...?

    I made a Reservation because the property advertised having a sauna, but there was no mention of it on the website and it was under renovation. There was an unpleasant odor (a stale, distinctive smell) in both the room and the hallway, and the bed felt uncomfortable for the price—rather than being firm, I could clearly feel the springs. Perhaps due to the area or because they pride themselves on their water, but there was no information about drinking water and none was provided. The reception area was so sparse that I wondered if this was really reception; it felt more like a cloakroom. There were no signs from the station, and it took nearly 20 minutes to find the property. If it were under 10,000 yen I could accept it, but I found it very disappointing.

    It was clean.

    The Room was more spacious and cleaner than I expected. The bathroom area was bright and very well maintained, making it comfortable to stay. The only downside in the Room was that I couldn’t adjust the air conditioning/heating myself. All the front desk staff were friendly, and I had a pleasant stay.

    Front Desk Staff

    When I checked in at night, the front desk staff member was a foreigner. They didn’t seem to speak Japanese very well, and since I have difficulty hearing, it was hard for me to understand them and I felt a bit uncomfortable.

    There’s a reason for the low price.

    It is relatively affordable for a hotel near the station. It seems like a traditional local Hotel often used by locals for reunions or weddings. I only stayed to sleep, but one issue was that the smoking area became unavailable after 9 PM. I was told to use the bus terminal's smoking area instead. When I went there, homeless people were sitting in the passageway, which felt a bit intimidating. There was no explanation given for closing the smoking area, but if it’s due to safety concerns, is Hamamatsu really such an unsafe place? Also, while the unit bath had been renovated, the floor of the bathtub felt flimsy and seemed like it might break through at any moment, which was unsettling. It feels like various parts of this Hotel have been left unattended due to budget constraints.

    Conveniently located near Hamamatsu Station.

    Directly connected to the Hotel via an underground passage from Hamamatsu Station, just a 3-4 minute walk, making it convenient. It would be nice if the washlet could be replaced with a newer one.

    I used the Plan with...

    I used the Plan without meals. There were minimal amenities, but it was disappointing that there were no skincare products like lotion or emulsion for women. The washbasin had cracks and chipped parts, and although the guest room overall felt old, I think it was well cleaned. The location in front of the station was convenient. However, the explanation of the parking lot was unclear, and I parked in a different parking area, which resulted in unnecessary expenses and the hassle of moving. I would like the explanation on the website to be reviewed.

    Hotel with a pool

    It was a traditional luxury city hotel. This might not resonate with those under 50. In the era when airlines owned many hotels across the whole country, it was a different kind of hotel from the simple business hotels, featuring facilities like a members-only pool and gym. I paid 1600 yen to swim in the 20m pool, feeling like I had time-traveled. The water temperature was on the cooler side, making it ideal for continuous swimming. (The temperature variation might be due to the few users, which is understandable.) Thanks to the members who use it, the facility, including the bathing facilities, was well-maintained despite its age.
