    As always, wonderful!

I visited again after three years to enjoy the full tiger puffer course. It is delicious every time, and I never get tired of it. The hassun, soup dish, and takikomi rice were also excellent, and I ended up drinking quite a lot again. Of course, the ara course and other courses are also very tasty, but I still think Yoyokaku’s tiger puffer course is the best. The staff and everyone at the Accommodation were very pleasant, and the building and garden felt spacious and relaxing, so I was able to unwind once again. Thank you for upgrading us to a wonderful Room.

A Beautiful Building, Garden, and Breakfast

The beauty of the building and the garden always brings me a sense of calm. The quiet wooden corridor leading to the Room, and the garden view from the Room, are truly wonderful. I’m deeply drawn to how this historic property remains impeccably clean and filled with a serene atmosphere. Breakfast is also memorable—simple yet carefully prepared dishes such as Kawashima tofu and barley porridge are genuinely delicious. I appreciate that it’s not a buffet; being able to enjoy a relaxed meal while looking out at the garden really enhances the overall stay. I usually visit with my family, so our time here inevitably feels rushed and too short, which is a shame. Someday, I would love to come alone and spend an unhurried day reading in the library.

It feels a bit lacking for a Ryokan.

The Accommodation entrance had a pleasant atmosphere with water sprinkled on the ground. However, the staff who greeted us were dressed very casually, which was a bit disappointing. Even having one person in a kimono would enhance the ambiance. The Room was nicely cleaned and lovely. Since I have knee trouble, I asked for a raised chair and they kindly accommodated my request—thank you. The table remained as it was, so dinner was a little difficult to eat. The large public bath was just an ordinary bath. Dinner was very good. Hot dishes were served hot and cold dishes cold, and the attendant’s service skills were excellent. Breakfast was served in what felt like a simple dining hall. Compared with dinner, breakfast was somewhat disappointing. Overall, considering the price, it felt slightly underwhelming.

A wonderful Ryokan where you can feel the history

This Ryokan offers a sense of history. The garden is spacious, meticulously maintained, and truly stunning. The staff shared insights about the building's history and design, including the structure of the entrance, allowing us to appreciate its uniqueness as a rare Ryokan. Dinner was served in our Room, and both the meal quality and service timing were excellent, leaving us highly satisfied.

    A heartwarming hospitality accommodation

After 31 years, I stayed at the accommodation again and enjoyed the same delicious meals, beautiful house, garden, flowers inside the facility, and gallery (the teacup I purchased back then is still in use without any damage). The room was spacious and was where a certain shogi player stayed during a match last year. The garden and furnishings were lovely, and I was soothed by the hinoki-scented bath. The bed provided was greatly appreciated as someone who had knee surgery—thank you so much. The service was excellent with warm hospitality from everyone—thank you for your thoughtful care. During breakfast, I had the honor of greeting the chairman and his wife; it left me deeply moved. Wishing them continued health and happiness. I hope to visit again soon without such a long interval in between stays.

    As expected, it exceeded expectations.

I made a reservation knowing only that it was a historic and traditional culinary Ryokan. Of course, I visited with high expectations, but from the moment I stepped through the entrance, I was overwhelmed by an atmosphere and hospitality that exceeded my imagination. On top of that, the cuisine was exceptional! As someone with a Kansai palate, every dish reminded me of Kyoto's high-end restaurants with its refined use of dashi. And there's more—Ryuta Kiln tableware, a beautifully maintained Japanese garden, and the stunning view of Karatsu Castle... Simply put, it was absolutely perfect.

A renowned Ryokan you'll want to stay at again and again.

We stayed at the accommodation as a three-generation family. The charming building creates excitement about which room you will be guided to. With an incredible sense of aesthetics down to the smallest details, it is highly recommended for those who wish to enjoy the carefully preserved Japanese culture. At the same time, it offers a relaxing and comforting atmosphere without any stiffness. The main garden with its beautiful pine greenery and public spaces like the reading room furnished with lovely furniture are truly delightful. We stayed in a two-room suite and enjoyed dinner leisurely in our room. Every dish was delicious, and even my elderly mother was fully satisfied and finished her meal completely. The futons were thick and comfortable, providing restful sleep even for those accustomed to sleeping on beds. Since we visited during summer, we would love to return during another season next time!

    Your Favorite Accommodation

This is my favorite accommodation. It is a ryokan where you can enjoy a traditional atmosphere. From the water-sprinkled entrance to the wooden corridor leading to the room, the single flower vase displayed at the entrance of the room, and the view of the courtyard from the room, every detail creates a space where you can relax and enjoy your time. Upon being shown to your room, you are served hot tea along with a cold towel, which provides a moment of comfort. A brief conversation with the attendant during this time is also one of its charms. However, during this stay, it seemed that there was a group of foreign tourists staying as well. Unfortunately, noises such as using indoor baths late at night, sliding doors closing loudly, footsteps echoing in haste, and conversations made it difficult to have a restful sleep at night. In addition, in the morning there were people chatting in narrow hallways or enthusiastically taking photos in the courtyard with their smartphones—making for quite an energetic atmosphere (sigh). While this may be inevitable nowadays... it seems I chose an unfortunate date for my stay.

    Wonderful Hospitality

We were delighted to stay in a room with a stunning view of Karatsu Castle and the garden. The well-maintained pine trees were beautiful, and we enjoyed stepping into the garden to take in the scenery. For dinner, we savored fresh fish from Karatsu and local sake served on exquisite Ryutagama pottery, which was both a feast for the palate and the eyes. Breakfast was equally delightful as we enjoyed barley rice while overlooking the garden. The kiln gallery inside the accommodation was truly impressive, as was the selection of books displayed in the lobby. Watching koi swim gracefully in a line at the pond brought us moments of peace and joy. Above all, it was your staff's warm hospitality that left a lasting impression on us, making this an accommodation we would love to visit again. Thanks to you, our daily fatigue has been wonderfully eased. Thank you very much!

A Ryokan with a pleasant atmosphere.

This is my favorite accommodation. It is a very atmospheric ryokan with a comfortable ambiance and pleasant staff service. The meals are delicious, served in beautiful dishes that enhance the experience. However, during this stay, I was disappointed that despite it being a hot season, the comforter provided felt like winter bedding, making it too warm to sleep well (I turned up the air conditioning due to the heat, but then the noise from the air conditioner was bothersome. Eventually, I turned it off and slept without a comforter, which was also uncomfortable). It would have been nice if there were summer blankets or towels available. You might want to check in advance when booking your stay. Additionally, while tea was served when we were shown to our room, no hand towels were provided at that time—perhaps they forgot?

    Thank you very much.

I stayed with my daughter. Unfortunately, it rained, so we couldn't visit Karatsu Castle, but we had a relaxing time and found the sound of rain refreshing. It had been such a long time since staying at a ryokan and enjoying in-room dining. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were delicious. Thank you very much!

    The meals were excellent.

From the moment you open the door, you'll be greeted by a beautifully arranged entrance and exceptional hospitality. The meals were particularly impressive—meticulously prepared, visually stunning, and absolutely delicious. Every dish was exquisite, but the mugwort tofu and fish cake soup stood out as extraordinary. The thinly sliced okose fish we ordered as an extra was also incredibly tasty. The potato dumplings were intricately crafted as well—the attention to detail is endless! With such outstanding service and cuisine, it's no surprise that many guests become repeat visitors. I hope to visit again during the Kunchi festival season someday.

    Elegant Accommodation

The ambiance, tranquility, and the perfection of the meals were all truly elegant. Without any overly dramatic or eccentric touches often seen these days, this accommodation provided a space that brought great peace of mind. On our way out, we happened to have a chance to speak with the couple who are the chairpersons of this ryokan, and it deeply resonated with us that the unique atmosphere of this place has been cultivated by them. We sincerely hope that this ryokan will continue to be cherished as part of Karatsu's history for many years to come. Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality during our stay.

    I had always wanted ...

I had always wanted to visit as I heard that you handle pottery by my favorite artist. As expected, it was the perfect accommodation for us, with meticulously crafted designs, beautiful settings, a historic building, delicious meals, and elegant pottery. It is an accommodation that makes me want to visit again if I have the chance! Thank you so much.

    Two nights of great satisfaction

The staff provided a service with an appropriate distance, which was nice. I was able to relax in an environment that felt historical. I was delighted to receive an explanation from the head hostess in front of a photo of the late Jacques Mayol and to be shown the "Chikamatsu Room." The food was also delicious. I would like to visit again, thank you very much.
