A Hospitable Culinary Ryokan in Kyoto Ohara
This was my first visit. About a 20-minute taxi ride from Kibune, after passing through a peaceful satoyama countryside, you’ll find this culinary Ryokan by the Sanzen-in temple gate. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed us with attentive service and treated us to shiso juice. The Room faced the garden and was a calming Japanese-style space. They said they bring Onsen water from Sanzen-in, and I was able to relax and unwind in the open-air bath. The lounge area was well stocked with drinks and ice cream, which was great. Dinner starts at 6:00 PM, but since we had a late lunch, they kindly let us delay it by 30 minutes, which really helped. The dishes were beautifully presented, and everything was delicious. The appetizer featuring an Aoi Matsuri festival float decoration included Chinese lantern plant (hozuki), which made me feel the season. The pike conger (hamo) and sweetfish (ayu) were also beautifully plated and very tasty. Everyone at the Ryokan was truly kind, and their courteous service made me very happy. The Shuttle Service by bus was also extremely helpful. I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

This Ryokan was very...
This Ryokan was very relaxing, with a garden view from the Room. The bath also had a limit on the number of guests, so we could enjoy the open-air bath at a leisurely pace. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious, but it was a real shame that only the meat was a little tough. All of the staff were very pleasant, and we had a wonderful time. We would like to stay here again when we visit Ohara.

It became a wonderful memory of our silver wedding anniversary.
We stayed one night in the Sakura room for our silver wedding anniversary trip. The location was excellent, allowing us to enjoy the serene and dignified atmosphere of Sanzen-in and other sub-temples early in the morning before the arrival of group tourists. The service, cuisine, and garden were all wonderful. It is a Ryokan we would like to visit again. Thank you very much.
