The meals and the Room were excellent, including the service. As for everything else, the weather is beyond anyone’s control, so we can only accept it—but especially in times like that, I would have liked more customer-focused hospitality. I didn’t feel there was an awareness of charging a price commensurate with what was offered.

    Your First Visit to Kamikochi

Because the Accommodation Fee was high, I hesitated for a long time before deciding to stay. But it was such a wonderful and comfortable experience that I have no regrets. It was disappointing that we couldn’t fully enjoy the night sky due to bear sightings, but the star guide was great, and the staff’s service was impeccable. It became a happy summer memory!!!

A Holiday in Kamikochi with Breathtaking Views

As I did last year, I stayed at this Hotel again this year. Having an Onsen is rare in Kamikochi, and it’s within walking distance of Kappa Bridge for a pleasant stroll back and forth. The guest rooms are spacious, and with the extreme heat in recent years, having air conditioning is truly helpful. People often say to open the windows and use the screen, but even with screens, insects still get in. All of the staff were kind and courteous. That said, for dinner, the French cuisine had a lobster sauce that was a bit too heavy; I would have preferred something lighter (though tastes vary). Also, for the salmon tartare, a spoon might be easier to use than a fork. The consommé soup was outstanding. The roast beef was very tender even though it was lean, and it was light and enjoyable. I ordered wine, but the female staff member who took my order didn’t seem knowledgeable about alcohol. She said she would ask the sommelier and came back, but her explanation was quite insufficient. It would be better if she could describe it more clearly—for example, “this has these notes,” “it’s refreshing,” or “it’s full-bodied.” Breakfast was also excellent: freshly made omelets on the spot, miso soup, and both Japanese- and Western-style options to enjoy. Recently I’ve noticed that in Kamikochi you see not only young people but also many older visitors. Even without hiking as your main purpose, you can fully enjoy yourself just by taking walks in nature. For that reason, I feel that incorporating more barrier-free accessibility going forward would likely attract more families as well.

    Completely satisfied

A wide corner Room with panoramic views of the Azusa River. It was the first time I’d stayed in a Room that felt this open and spacious. Paying over 120,000 yen for two made me hesitate a bit, but we were very satisfied with the dinner dishes and the kind service. I also slept more soundly than I have at any time in the past year. After checkout, a female staff member hurried over to us and even took photos for us. It was a wonderful space and time—along with warm personal interaction. Thank you very much.

    I’ve made my next Reservation!

This was my first stay, and both the view and the meals were excellent. The large public bath was a bit too hot for me, but I really enjoyed the massage chair. The Room was wonderful, so I made a Reservation for my next stay because I want to stay in the same Room again. I’m looking forward to it, and I hope to visit again soon.

    Thank you very much ...

Thank you very much for taking care of us for three days. All of the staff were kind, and we had a truly relaxing stay. Unfortunately, it rained on the first day, but Kamikochi in the rain had its own special charm. On the second day, we were blessed with clear weather and left the Hotel in the morning to walk from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge and then to Myojin Pond, taking breaks along the way—it took about five hours. We were quite tired, but soaking in the Hotel’s Onsen completely refreshed us. On the morning of the third day, we even encountered a large troop of monkeys during our walk, which was a rare and valuable experience. It felt like a dreamlike three days. We believe it was all thanks to everyone at Lumiesta Hotel. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Although it rained unfortunately, we really appreciated the loan of rainwear and the shoe dryer in the Room. The meals were also delicious.

It was the best way to show my parents my appreciation.

At my mother’s request—she’s in her 80s and wanted to see the fresh greenery—we decided to visit Kamikochi and made a Reservation for a Room where we could fully enjoy the green views even without much walking. Seeing how delighted she was when we entered the Room, I knew we had chosen the right place. She lay down by the window for a long time, enjoying the scenery outside. The meals and the baths were both excellent, and thanks to this Hotel I was able to do something truly meaningful for my mother. Thank you very much.

    A cozy Hotel.

This is one of the few Hotels in Kamikochi with an Onsen. I had been looking forward to it. Our Room was the Premium Theater we had long hoped for. Through the wide, horizontal windows, lush greenery and fresh light-green leaves spread out before us—truly breathtaking! I’m so glad we chose this Room. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and all the Hotel staff were friendly and kind. At the front desk, there was a variety of rainwear and sandals in different sizes to suit guests’ needs, which showed their excellent service. With the Azusa River right in front of you, it’s perfect for an early-morning stroll. Highly recommended.

It was a wonderful night under the stars!

The staff were incredibly attentive and offered helpful advice (truly professional!). The stargazing was very satisfying thanks to the good weather and the guide’s thorough explanations—definitely a highlight. I’d love to stay again on an event date next time. Dinner was unhurried and refined. However, the washbasin area felt small and a bit inconvenient to use—perhaps due to the renovation layout. My wife and I are also talking about staying again in a different season.

    It was great.

Although the sky was unfortunately cloudy, the view of Mt. Kasumigatake and Mt. Roppyakusan from the window of our Room was so wonderful that we never tired of it. This Accommodation is one we would definitely like to stay at again.

A luxury Hotel inside the museum

In the midst of magnificent nature overlooking the Azusa River in Kamikochi, we enjoyed delicious French cuisine with first-class service. We were also delighted to be able to relax in the Onsen. However, it was disappointing that the Room was smaller than expected and the windows were small and covered with paper.

    It was wonderful.

Although it was just the start of the season, we had a very comfortable stay thanks to the attentive staff. The meals and drinks were excellent, featuring local ingredients as well as selections from nearby sake breweries and wineries.

Makes you want to come back again.

It has been five years since my husband passed away. I’ve traveled in many ways with my daughter and son, but this trip was simply the best. The view from the Room was wonderful, and just gazing outside made me feel at peace. The meals were truly delicious and moving, and my son—who worked part-time at a Hotel for many years as a student—said it was wonderful to see the staff’s cheerful smiles even while they were so busy. I would love to visit again.

    This was a trip with...

This was a trip with my mother. At the end of dinner, she suddenly felt unwell, and even though it could have caused trouble for others around us, the staff treated her with sincere care and kindness. Even after she recovered, you continued to check on her—thank you very much. Breakfast was simply excellent. There were many dishes unique to Shinshu, and having plenty of warm soups and similar items was especially comforting in the morning. The view from the Room—of the ridge line and the Azusa River—was wonderful. I only realized at the very end that the bath in our Room was also an Onsen, and I regret not using it. Other than the massage-chair area being a little cold, I had no complaints at all.

Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Kamikochi, a place I had long admired. To celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, we decided to indulge in a two-night stay at the highly-rated "Kamikochi Lemeista Hotel" based on reviews. We visited in mid-September after the holiday weekend, slightly early for autumn foliage. Despite being a weekday, there were many tourists, and the hotel seemed almost fully booked. The lobby area is not particularly spacious but features high ceilings and beautiful stained glass, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The staff's service was excellent; even during busy check-in times, they handled everything smoothly. They also responded kindly to our questions and requests, making our stay very comfortable. We splurged a bit and reserved a Japanese-Western Universal Room on the third floor. From the large windows, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Azusa River below—far from the bustling Kappa Bridge area—making this an ideal base for our trip. The room's interior was lovely with excellent amenities that ensured a comfortable stay. Dinner was French-based cuisine; however, on the second day, it incorporated more Japanese flavors with generous portions that left us satisfied both days. The service staff provided detailed explanations about dishes and drinks with just enough humor to make dining enjoyable as well as informative! To all of your wonderful staff members: thank you so much! You made this anniversary trip truly unforgettable for us. If we ever visit Kamikochi again someday—we will absolutely choose your accommodation once more! Looking forward already until next time!

Thank you, I had a relaxing stay.

This was my third stay, and my first visit since the renovation. The room I reserved, called the Theater Room, was spacious as it seemed to combine two rooms into one and featured a ceiling air conditioner. Given how hot Japanese summers can be, even in Kamikochi during the daytime, having air conditioning is greatly appreciated for heatstroke prevention. The room had a unique layout with the bathroom located in the center, allowing me to enjoy views of the outside scenery even while soaking in the bathtub. However, perhaps due to insufficient ventilation, when filling up the tub with hot water, condensation formed on the glass meant for viewing outside (making dirt more noticeable), which detracted from any sense of luxury. Additionally, because of its central location in the room, it wasn’t possible to fully open windows near this area—creating a slight feeling of confinement. The bathroom area divided the bed space and living space; however, this resulted in an unbalanced layout where the bed space felt unnecessarily large while leaving less room for a cramped living area. It seems that design constraints arise when utilizing existing spaces like this one. Perhaps other rooms might not give off such impressions; however, this particular room fell short. As for meals—they were neither particularly good nor bad—but considering this accommodation's price point beyond just its main roast beef dish offering left both flavor and portion size somewhat lacking overall satisfaction-wise. While undeniably comfortable overall as an accommodation experience—it left me feeling that value-for-money wasn’t quite there during this stay especially regarding dining options: introducing Japanese cuisine alternatives could make multiple night stays easier or if sticking solely French-style offerings further refinement would help elevate expectations met accordingly otherwise risks appearing overly reliant upon prime location alone paired alongside premium pricing strategies potentially alienating guests long-term perspective-wise instead!

    Comfortable Hotel

It was a very comfortable stay. The front desk staff during morning luggage storage, the short-haired female staff at check-in, and the male staff who let us choose a bookmark as a gift—all of them greeted us with smiles. The room was comfortable, and the view of Mount Rokko right in front was so beautiful that I couldn't stop gazing at it. However, the French dinner lacked a sense of uniqueness. It might have been better with an additional touch of mountain resort essence (apologies if this sounds presumptuous). The accommodation cost for two people exceeded 140,000 yen, which is not exactly affordable. But considering such an excellent room within Kamikochi Park with natural flowing onsen and even onsen water supplied to the room itself, it's understandable. I'm glad we decided to stay here this time. Thanks to this hotel, we were able to fully enjoy our wonderful time in Kamikochi—thank you very much! I’ll work hard in my daily life so I can stay here again someday.

A quiet and relaxing special time (This is what "chill" means).

A quiet and serene accommodation with a stunning view from the room. The staff's perfect balance of attentiveness and friendliness made the stay truly relaxing. With a limited number of rooms, or perhaps due to the quality of guests, both the breakfast buffet and spa were very comfortable even when shared with other guests. The outdoor natural onsen was well-maintained compared to others, though some insects were present as expected outdoors. The water quality was excellent. The room provided plenty of sleepwear and towels for peace of mind. Meals at the restaurant were delicious, especially my favorites—the "Shippou Soup" and "Tounyu Soba" served at breakfast. I would love to have them again!

I would definitely like to stay again.

I initially planned to stay for two nights, but due to road closures caused by rain, I received a call from the hotel and managed to stay for one night while monitoring the weather. The young staff members were efficient yet provided warm hospitality, making it a memorable and pleasant stay. I would love to visit here again when staying in Kamikochi. Thank you very much.

It was excellent for the price and expectations.

Stayed in the Deluxe Theater Room, which had a free coffee maker in the room, so I didn’t use it, but there were also complimentary drinks available in the lobby. Both dinner and breakfast exceeded expectations based on the price. Dinner included a reasonably sized spiny lobster and roast beef that could be refilled. Although I didn’t use it, they seemed to offer luggage storage and delivery to the bus terminal. Being part of the Alpico Group, like the buses, might be an advantage in this area. While not a luxury brand hotel, it is highly recommended for its price point. *Star rating is based on value for money.*

A Hotel that enhances your travel satisfaction.

Stayed for one night in mid-July. The accommodation is in a prime location near the Kamikochi Bus Terminal and along the Azusa River. They kindly stored our luggage before and after check-in, provided detailed explanations with a map, allowing us to explore efficiently without carrying anything. Both the public bath and the room's bath are Onsen, making it an exceptional experience to soak while enjoying views of the river early in the morning. The facility is compact but recently renovated, ensuring comfort throughout. What stood out most was the exceptional service by Ms. O from their female staff. On a rainy day, she not only lent us rainwear and boots after carefully checking sizes multiple times but also called a store at Kamikochi Bus Terminal to reserve bento boxes that were sold out at the hotel café—her thoughtful gestures left a lasting impression. The welcome drink offered at an adjacent café and complimentary drinks available in the lounge were much appreciated services, especially given Kamikochi’s tourist pricing. Dinner featured French cuisine that wasn’t too heavy, with unlimited servings of roast beef—a delightful surprise! Breakfast was also impressive with its variety despite being served in a smaller restaurant space; we even enjoyed local Shinshu dishes. While accommodation fees are on the higher side, considering its location, rental services, convenience, Onsen facilities, and meals overall—it's understandable during peak season. Thanks to this stay, we could enjoy nature comfortably without any inconvenience or stress!

    Heartfelt Hospitality

First visit after the renovation. The facility has been beautifully renewed, and the spirit of hospitality has further improved! I checked in with an injury sustained during my descent, unable to hide the traces of it. However, the front desk staff kindly provided ice for first aid and bandages, and even arranged for me to visit Kamikochi Clinic in the evening. Thanks to their prompt assistance and first aid treatment, I was able to feel at ease during my stay. Throughout my time here, many staff members at the restaurant and other areas offered kind words without being overbearing, which helped me feel calm. Fortunately, upon returning home and visiting my regular surgeon for a check-up, I was told that there were no serious issues. The doctor also praised the initial response as perfect. Thank you so much! Additionally, both meals and onsen were outstanding! While indoor air conditioning seems to have been upgraded as well, I personally found it a bit challenging to adjust the temperature properly—perhaps due to my own handling methods.

The meals in the morning and evening were delicious, and the wine selection was excellent. The Onsen had a soft water quality that warmed us up. The room was also a lovely room. Unfortunately.

Last year, we stayed at the neighboring Kamikochi Onsen Hotel, and this year at Kamikochi Lemeista Hotel. The hotel has been renovated, and the room's atmosphere was pleasant, with meals that were very delicious. However, the shutters outside the room window were banging loudly in the wind. Despite going to bed early to recover from a cold and get a good night's sleep, I could only sleep for about three hours. I don't believe it was due to strong winds but rather because the shutters weren't properly secured at the beginning of the season. When I mentioned this during checkout, I didn't receive a satisfactory response. Never did I imagine I'd have to write a review for such a reason!

    Memorable Commemorative Trip

We are glad we chose the newly renovated Kamikochi Lemeista Hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary trip. The Onsen, French cuisine, and hospitality were all top-notch. After breakfast, we left our luggage and made a light trip to and from Myojin Pond, and we were greeted with smiles even when we checked out at the last minute. We would love to visit again!

    At the long-awaited Kamikochi...

I was finally able to visit the long-desired Kamikochi as my vacation and the availability of the inn matched. I chose this inn because it has a hot spring and is quiet, being away from the bus stop, as per the reviews. It was very comfortable, newly renovated, clean, convenient, and spacious, which was great. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so I couldn't see the perfect starry sky from the bed as promised, so I want to try again. One issue I had... There was no space to hang towels, so I was at a loss for where to place wet bath towels. It would have been nice to have hooks or bars provided. Also, my husband mentioned that there wasn't enough toothpaste... This varies from person to person. Other than that, it was a wonderful inn that we were very satisfied with. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    Highly recommended!

The facilities, rooms, and the large hot spring bath were very comfortable as it was just recently renovated. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were very delicious, and even though we stayed for consecutive nights, we finished everything (laughs). The wine selection was also impeccable. The location is a bit away from Kappa Bridge, so it was quiet and very relaxing. The service from all the staff was excellent. Although the price is on the higher side, it is definitely a place I would like to stay again when I visit Kamikochi.
