    A long-established inn in Higashiyama Onsen known for its delicious cuisine

    The dishes made with local Aizu ingredients were truly delicious. Both the large public bath overlooking the river and the in-Room bath were very relaxing.

    It was a great accommodation.

    Our family of four stayed here, including two daughters. We were satisfied with the meals, the Room, and the bath. In particular, we are very grateful to the kind woman who took care of our dining service.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    When we entered the Room, we were amazed by the spacious entrance. We were also impressed by how new the tatami mats felt. And we were delighted by the size of the private open-air Onsen attached to the Room—it was one pleasant surprise after another. We chose the light dinner Plan, but it was so filling that we wondered if this was really a “light” portion. The Fukushima beef shabu-shabu was delicious, and we also enjoyed local specialties. We were able to use the baths at Harataki next door as well, which made us very satisfied. When we visit Higashiyama Onsen again, we would love to stay here again. The staff were cheerful and courteous, and our stay was very comfortable.

    I stayed here solo t...

    I stayed here solo to enjoy the Onsen. The Onsen was very relaxing. I was also informed about Harataki’s private bath, and soaking in the Onsen while looking out at nature was soothing both physically and mentally. Horse meat was served at breakfast, but since horseback riding is my hobby, I couldn’t bring myself to eat it and asked for it to be removed. I didn’t know Aizu is famous for horse meat, so it gave me a chance to learn—but I honestly didn’t expect it to be served. They kindly accommodated my dietary needs, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. When I left, the proprietress kept waving until I was out of sight, which made me feel truly welcomed.

    The finest cuisine in Higashiyama Onsen.

    I chose this Ryokan for its reputation as a culinary destination. Each dish, made with local ingredients, was crafted with care and had a delightful homemade touch—it was incredibly delicious. The shabu-shabu meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Locals I met at the Onsen also mentioned that the cuisine here is the best in Higashiyama Onsen. The Shuttle Service to the Akabeko bus stop was much appreciated. Since it was the first snowfall of the season, I also enjoyed the beautiful snowy scenery. Our Room consisted of two connected spaces: a Japanese-style room and a Western-style room. However, when we closed off the Japanese-style room at the back, it became difficult to hear the intercom from there. After taking a bath, I almost got locked out of my Room by accident—quite nerve-wracking!

    It was quiet and relaxing.

    The large bath, which still retains traces of its past as a private villa, was excellent with its Onsen. I booked a plan with a smaller meal portion, but it exceeded my expectations. My friend and I wondered how much food would have been included in the regular course. We also enjoyed the local cuisine thoroughly. However, the steamed egg custard at breakfast lacked flavor in the broth, which was disappointing. Everyone agreed it had no taste... Since I love it so much and saved it for last as my treat, ending on that note left me feeling let down. The bedding consisted of just one thin futon mattress, which caused back pain and discomfort while sleeping. It would have been appreciated if an additional mat or another layer could be provided for better comfort.

    Breakfast?

    Last year, I discovered this wonderful accommodation and decided to book the same room with a semi-open-air onsen again this year. Last year, the view included a small waterfall, which added charm, but this year the room was two units away from last year's and offered a different mountain view. I enjoyed soaking in the semi-open-air onsen while admiring the scenery. However, one disappointment was that although my reservation indicated breakfast would be served in a private dining room like last year, I was informed at check-in that it had been changed to in-room dining. This meant staff came to tidy up the futon in the morning, so I had to shorten my time enjoying the semi-open-air onsen and prepare for their arrival instead of relaxing. I felt that having an open-air bath attached to the room should allow for leisurely enjoyment of both the bath and room. Additionally, compared to last year's breakfast with various colorful dishes served elegantly in small bowls giving off a luxurious feel, this year's meal consisted mostly of brown simmered dishes along with grilled salmon—just an ordinary Japanese breakfast. It felt quite different from what I remembered. Incidentally, while prices have increased compared to last year due to inflation and other factors—which I considered acceptable given their cuisine and onsen—the experience fell short of expectations. That said, our assigned staff member was very polite and attentive as always, and their onsen remains excellent as ever.

    The hot spring quality is exceptional.

    At check-in, the front desk staff was very kind, which raised my expectations for the accommodation. Although we had in-room dining, they prepared our meal in the next room since it was vacant, which was a pleasant surprise. As I was traveling with my elderly mother, we chose a plan with a smaller portion of food, but it was still more than enough (especially breakfast). The rice was delicious. We also enjoyed the drink service in the lobby before the meal, and the amazake was particularly tasty. My mother was very pleased. We used both the room bath and the large public bath, and both had perfect water temperature and excellent quality, with clean facilities that made us very satisfied. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    Family Trip: 3 Nights, 4 Days in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima

    For our third night, after much searching the day before, we chose Konjakutei. After an extravagant second night, we felt at ease as we entered the room. The private open-air bath attached to the room was absolutely amazing! Everyone was so warm and welcoming, explaining everything with a smile. Dinner was delicious, and it paired perfectly with drinks—we were grateful to be able to stay until the end. When we said "thank you for the meal," everyone kindly responded from somewhere in their rooms with "thank you." We enjoyed both public baths and then relaxed again in our room's open-air bath—completely satisfied! The spacious washing area and open-air bath were so pleasant! The coffee service by the river's gentle stream added a special touch. We felt warmth from all of the staff’s kind words and hospitality as we left the accommodation. The proprietress and another lady waved goodbye until they were out of sight—it made us want to return again! Thank you for everything! We look forward to visiting again soon.

    Extremely satisfied with the service.

    It was my first time visiting Higashiyama Onsen, and I had a hard time choosing an accommodation, but staying at Konjaku-tei turned out to be the perfect choice. The dinner was part of a plan with fewer dishes, but it was still more than satisfying in both quantity and taste. Above all, the warm hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression. I am especially grateful for their assistance in arranging a taxi—thank you very much!

    A hospitality-filled...

    A hospitality-filled accommodation with excellent meals and service. The customer service, in particular, was outstanding. However, one point of concern was that the towels, including bath towels, felt rough and worn out. Other than that, my daughter and I had a very pleasant stay. It became a wonderful memory for us.

    The room bath was excellent.

    The room with a private bath offering a great view provided a very relaxing space. Guests can also enjoy the main building's large public bath and footbath, allowing for plenty of Onsen experiences in just one night. The meals were delightful, featuring various local dishes as appetizers.

    Excellent service, stunning views, and natural hot spring baths.

    We recently stayed for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were served apple juice after bathing and received a detailed explanation of the seasonal charm of Aizu. The private bath in our room was exceptional. A river flowed nearby, with snowmelt creating small waterfalls cascading down cliffs, providing a perfect location to enjoy our meals. In consideration of our anniversary, we were treated to a fruit platter, making it an unforgettable memory. The food was also incredibly delicious. Next time, we hope to visit with our two daughters and the whole family. Thank you very much!

    Excellent hospitality

    I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. First of all, the dinner was really delicious! The main dish, beef shabu-shabu, was especially exquisite. Also, I was able to upgrade my room and had a comfortable stay. The shuttle service to the sister ryokan's onsen was very helpful. I was also pleased with the fruit water and alcohol service after the bath. Before dinner on the second day, they served the alcohol I ordered the previous day as an aperitif, which showed their thoughtfulness. Furthermore, when I requested hojicha after the meal, they prepared it in the tea set the next day, which impressed me with their attentive service. The dedicated staff's response was also excellent, and they willingly accommodated our requests. The bath was clean and spacious, with ample amenities, allowing for a relaxing experience. This ryokan had wonderful hospitality from the staff, making it a lovely place I would like to visit again.

    Unfortunately disappointing...

    I made a reservation here with high expectations due to the good reviews, but to be honest, I couldn't quite see the appeal. Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful, but everything tasted the same. The seasoning was strong, making me thirsty. Perhaps because our room was at the end, the staff didn't come often, and I had to call the front desk from the room phone, which was inconvenient. I ended up lighting the tableware myself and gave up on ordering alcohol. The onsen was in the basement with no windows, which made it smell stuffy, and the handrails were wobbly and rusty, so I left quickly. The saving grace was being able to visit the onsen in the main building, and although it's a short walk, they provide a shuttle service. The bath there was nice. A couple who saw us returning by bus from the main building's bath asked if we went there and how it was. We shared the same sentiment that we didn't feel like using the bath here, so we recommended the main building. The staff at the property were all pleasant. The shuttle service was attentive, and the evening drinks and morning coffee service in the lounge were appreciated. However, when my mother peeked into the closet to see what kind of futon there was, they weren't neatly folded but rather rolled up and thrown in. It was quite shocking, and this scene seemed to tell the whole story, which was disappointing. When we left for a meal with the sliding doors open, the futons were laid out, and the remaining ones were refolded, perhaps understanding our intention. I often rely on reviews to choose a property for the first time, but I was reminded that impressions vary from person to person, which was a valuable experience.

    A Trip to Aizuwakamatsu

    Conveniently located near Aizuwakamatsu Castle. The Onsen is small, but it is not crowded, allowing for a very peaceful stay. We also enjoyed using the nearby Harataki bath and playing table tennis. The room has both renovated parts and areas showing signs of aging, but there were no particular issues. Above all, the meals were delicious. Moreover, it was pleasant to see the staff working so energetically and cheerfully. It was a birthday trip for my son, and we are grateful for everything. It became a memorable trip.

    We stayed as a famil...

    We stayed as a family. The staff greeted us with smiles wherever we went in the Ryokan, allowing us to spend a peaceful time. We were able to enjoy our meals leisurely in a private room. The staff did not interact excessively, but responded politely when needed, making it a very relaxing Property.
