    I had heard that my parents, who are from Ehime, used to stay here when they returned home. When my mother passed away, our family made a Reservation the day before. We were truly grateful that you prepared an offering meal for my mother both in the Room and at mealtimes. Although the staff member in charge was young, they treated us with just the right sense of distance. As there were six of us, you arranged a spacious tatami dining room for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious cuisine. I did feel that the selection of alcoholic drinks was a little limited. I thought it would have been even better with more wine options or easy-to-drink sours. Breakfast was wonderful! There was nothing too heavy for the morning—thick-cut salmon, rolled omelet, yudofu tofu, and more— a menu so satisfying that I ended up having another bowl of rice. The “Jinchoge” Room was fun—when we opened doors that felt like something out of a ninja house, it was “here too,” and “here too.” While more and more innovative Accommodations are appearing these days, this is an Accommodation that steadfastly preserves traditional charm and protects Dogo. Especially in times like these, I sincerely hope it will continue to remain. I no longer have any particular reason to visit Ehime, but I would love to return so I can feel close to my parents again.     It was a wonderful, relaxing accommodation.

    It was a quiet, refined Accommodation with a calm atmosphere and no unnecessary extravagance. The staff’s greetings and attentiveness were never intrusive, yet their care reached every detail. The cuisine was excellent, each piece of tableware was beautiful, and the Onsen water was truly outstanding.

    Warm, heartfelt hospitality

    Thank you very much for taking such good care of us during our stay. In contrast to the bustle in front of Dogo Onsen Station, this Accommodation was wrapped in tranquility. Although the building is a bit old, it was beautifully maintained down to the seasonal decorations and flower arrangements. At the entrance, the front desk staff not only greeted and saw guests off but also provided valet parking. Our attendant assigned to the Room was young, but served us with great courtesy, and we learned a lot from their hospitality. Breakfast served in the Room was traditional Japanese style; the thick-cut salmon and rolled omelet were especially delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend quiet, relaxing time.

    We stayed here for our honeymoon. It was great that we could use not only Yamato-ya Besso but also the Facilities of the main building. Services such as meal service by the attendants are rare at other Ryokan, so I highly recommend it. As for the bath, our Room did not have a fully open-air bath, but it seems some other Rooms have more authentic ones. The hospitality was flawless. It rained that day, and they immediately lent us an umbrella. The meals were enjoyable, with a good balance of local specialties as well as fish and meat.

    An Adults-Only School Trip Experience

    We drove a rental car from Onomichi along the Shimanami Kaido, via Imabari, and stayed here upon arriving at Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama. There were four of us—two men and two women in our 50s. We were very satisfied with the service, Facility amenities, location, and meals. The villa’s large public bath is a bit small, but you can also use the main building’s facilities, so there was plenty to enjoy. We were especially impressed by the attentive hospitality. The villa isn’t flashy and isn’t suited for groups; for individual stays it is very quiet and relaxing, and we were able to unwind at a leisurely pace. Being able to enjoy beer and candy freely was a nice little touch. We would love to stay again someday.

    We had in-room dining in a Room with an open-air bath. The Facility was clean and well maintained, so we stayed very comfortably (the blind for the open-air bath is a bit thin, so you may notice the outside somewhat). The staff were attentive down to the smallest details and checked in with us often, and we also enjoyed interacting with them. It also felt like a great value that guests can use the facilities at Yamato-ya Honten as well. Staying at this Accommodation will let you enjoy Dogo even more. Highly recommended.

    It was a disappointing stay.

    I stayed in the most luxurious room at Yamato-ya Villa. The price, hospitality, and staff training were not proportional at all. As a host, I chose this accommodation from among Dogo Onsen for a celebratory occasion, but I truly regret it. It was an embarrassing experience and extremely disappointing overall.

    All the staff were pleasant, making our stay very enjoyable. The meals and Onsen (both the large public bath and the semi-open-air bath in the room) were absolutely excellent! Being able to use the baths at Yamato-ya Main Building was also a great bonus. We would love to visit again!

    The staff at the accommodation were incredibly kind and attentive, providing thoughtful and seamless service from start to finish, making it a truly memorable stay. The meals in the morning and evening were delicious, beautifully presented with a sense of the season, and had an elegant taste that reflected careful preparation. The onsen water left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Above all, the entire accommodation was peaceful and quiet, allowing for a relaxing stay. Additionally, its location was excellent, offering convenient access to Dogo Onsen Honkan and the shopping street. If I have another opportunity to stay in Dogo Onsen, I would love to return here again.

    Thank you for your hospitality during my stay, which also served as a visit back home. To celebrate my father's 88th birthday, the special anniversary plan included a cake and champagne, and you even created an album with photos—everything was perfect. For the multiple night stay, different breakfasts were prepared each morning, which I personally found very satisfying. The bath was also excellent. Thank you very much!

    It was my first visi...

    It was my first visit to Dogo Onsen. This time, as we were traveling from Tokushima, we chose a plan without dinner. Although we planned to arrive by around 6 PM, there was a major traffic jam due to a highway closure caused by an accident, and we arrived late. Despite the inconvenience caused, the staff responded kindly and courteously, for which I am truly grateful. Thanks to their thoughtful hospitality, my three friends and I were able to enjoy a relaxing time together. The breakfast was very delicious. We enjoyed our meal leisurely in the room and had a wonderful time soaking in the onsen. Next time, I would love to stay longer and visit again. Thank you very much!

    It was a beautiful accommodation.

    The accommodation was beautiful, almost like viewing art. The onsen was also very clean, and overall it was a wonderful place to experience an extraordinary stay. I had informed the staff that I would be bringing friends from America, and I felt reassured as the staff in charge of my friend's room provided guidance in English when entering their room. However, during meals, explanations were given only in Japanese in a very straightforward manner while food was served quickly. We found ourselves overwhelmed with trying to understand the explanations and ended up rushing through our meal. We were told that someone would come to call us when breakfast was ready, but while my friends were called for breakfast, no one came to inform us. Feeling confused, we went to the breakfast venue only to find our friends waiting for about 10 minutes. Although there were English guidebooks available within the accommodation and some staff members provided explanations in English, it was disappointing that the meal experience we had been most looking forward to ended on such an unclear note. Additionally, since all of the staff members appeared to be male, I feel having female staff could make this place even more comforting and relaxing for guests.

    The accommodation has a calm and relaxing atmosphere. It is small and intimate, with no excessive hospitality or extravagant decorations. There is no overly sharp sense of luxury, but the overall cleanliness is excellent. The onsen bath is just the right size. The complimentary beer after bathing is wonderful (the free ice cream should return to the small vanilla ice cream served in a wooden cup instead of the current popsicle; even if it costs more, that unique experience cannot be found elsewhere). Meals can be enjoyed in your room. While not extraordinary, they are honestly delicious, reflecting the chef's sincere craftsmanship. Books like "In Praise of Shadows" by Junichiro Tanizaki and "Red Light" by Mokichi Saito are available in the room. You can indulge in the luxury of reading books at a high-end onsen accommodation without doing anything else. This place is perfect for those tired of noisy onsen towns. This was my fourth stay here. Although it’s expensive, this has become my go-to accommodation.

    Very disappointing and underwhelming. While the building overall is clean, the Room lacked style and felt merely spacious without charm. Dinner was delicious, but breakfast was just average. I was surprised to find that parking within the Ryokan required an additional fee.

    This was our first time staying here, and it turned out to be a very satisfying experience for the whole family. The accommodation was clean and had a calm atmosphere, with thoughtful touches everywhere that made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. What we especially appreciated was the child-friendly consideration. There were thoughtful arrangements that made it convenient even with small children, and the staff naturally interacted with us, allowing us to enjoy our stay without worry. We were particularly touched when they remembered and addressed our child by name—it made our child so happy and created even more special memories of this trip. We are deeply grateful for the hospitality of all the staff members. Everyone greeted us with smiles, responded kindly to our requests or questions, and ensured that we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The meals were also excellent—dishes prepared with seasonal ingredients not only tasted great but were visually delightful as well. Both adults and children enjoyed them thoroughly, making mealtime a joyful experience for everyone in the family.     Enjoy delicious cuisine and traditional Japanese ambiance.

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. When I entered the room, I could faintly smell the tatami, which gave me a sense of being in a luxurious ryokan. When I asked the staff about the scroll, they explained it so fluently that I could tell they study diligently every day. I was also impressed by their attention to detail, such as how beautifully the ash was arranged in the tobacco tray. The food was incredibly delicious and plated so beautifully that I wanted to keep looking at it forever—but of course, that's not possible! It made me think about all the effort put in by the head chef. At breakfast, when I opened the lid on the dish with rolled omelet broth (dashimaki), I was pleasantly surprised—it felt like a playful touch from the chef. I even got to enjoy using your main bath and received post-bath sake despite not staying there—what an unexpected treat! I believe this unique atmosphere is what captivates guests at this accommodation.

    Healing Accommodation

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. I stayed with my husband and in-laws, and from the warm welcome to our departure, every service was exceptional. Thanks to you, we were able to create wonderful memories. The clean room and onsen were also excellent. We were comforted by the gentle smiles of the staff as well. Additionally, I forgot my outerwear during this stay, but you promptly contacted me and sent it to my home. It was carefully packaged with a letter included, providing heartwarming service until the very end. Thank you for everything! This is an accommodation I would love to visit again!

    It was a bit disappointing.

    The public bath was crowded, making it feel cramped and not relaxing. Dinner was excellent in terms of content and service, leaving us satisfied. Breakfast seemed understaffed, with two women in work uniforms rushing around, creating a restless atmosphere. The hot tofu was cold. Considering the price, it was disappointing. The main building where we stayed previously felt more comfortable. Unfortunately, this accommodation does not have a gift shop either.

    We had a peaceful and relaxing time.

    We visited as a reward for our hard work over the past half-year. Both the large public bath and the Room's private bath were delightful, and we enjoyed refreshing beer and ice cream after bathing, making for a truly pleasant time. Above all, having "In Praise of Shadows" in the Room and the delicious dinner were exceptional highlights. Each dish at dinner had its own unique depth of flavor, allowing us to savor every bite. Afterward, we leisurely read through the book and had a wonderful evening. Thank you so much for accommodating our sudden request!

    Dogo Onsen: Enjoy the Historic Hot Springs

    Dogo Onsen was our second visit as a couple, but it was our first stay at Yamato-ya Besso, and we absolutely loved it. While we often visit Arima and Shirahama due to their proximity, this time our eldest son joined us from Tokyo to complete the "Three Ancient Hot Springs of Japan." Among many accommodations available, we appreciated the service allowing access not only to the villa's large bath but also to the main building's large bath. The setup of the post-bath relaxation area was excellent. My husband and son especially enjoyed the sake bar in the main building and free draft beer in the villa. I particularly loved having an onsen in our room. The private open-air bath with water sourced from Dogo Honkan allowed us to enjoy bathing anytime. Since it was a multiple night stay, we had time for early morning baths at Dogo Honkan, strolling through shopping streets, viewing mechanical clocks near the station, and admiring haiku monuments—all at a leisurely pace. Our room attendant was cheerful and attentive with thoughtful hospitality throughout—thank you very much! Having dining facilities within our room made meals comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed delicious local dishes featuring fresh ingredients from nearby areas. The size of salted salmon during breakfast surprised us, while freshly made hot rolled omelets were outstanding. On day two, we had an omelet generously topped with ketchup—it was very large and incredibly tasty! Above all else, even plain white rice stood out as exceptionally delicious; so much so that we asked for refills both days. Although it's quite far from Kansai region where we're based—this has become an onsen destination we'd definitely like to revisit someday soon! To all staff members: thank you sincerely for your warm smiles & wonderful hospitality—it truly made our stay memorable!

    We stayed for one night from Friday, with two people. Regarding access to the Property, it is about a 10-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station, and since it is located on a hillside, the walk there involves a gentle uphill path. Within about a 3-minute walk, you can find the main building of Dogo Onsen, and you can enjoy the outdoor baths, shop for souvenirs in the shopping street, or enjoy some street food while taking a stroll. The atmosphere of the Property is quiet and offers a high sense of privacy. Since we are not fond of noisy group guests, we prefer Properties with fewer Rooms, and here, meals were served in the Room, so we hardly encountered other guests. We stayed in an 8-tatami Superior Japanese-style Room. When you slide open the door from the hallway, there is a space of about three tatami mats, and beyond that, there is another door. The Room also has a sunroom with a table and chairs, making it spacious enough for two people. Although the indoor bath in the Room had Onsen water, we did not use it this time as the large communal bath was close to our Room. The water in the large communal bath was neither too hot nor too lukewarm, allowing for a longer soak, which was just the right temperature for us. Additionally, at the entrance of the large communal bath, there was a draft beer server and ice pops available, both of which were all-you-can-drink and eat. It was a delightful service. For dinner, the tofu made with cod milt was exquisite, and the simmered and soup dishes released a fragrant aroma of dashi as soon as the lids were opened, offering a gentle and flavorful meal. The sashimi, featuring sea bream caught in the Kurushima Strait, was delicious. The Iyo beef steak was served with onion sauce, salt, and wasabi, and the sweetness of the meat's fat was so good that it was surprising it is not more widely known domestically. The meal took about two hours, leaving us fully satisfied. For breakfast, we added a sea bream rice set. The staff kindly explained two ways to enjoy it, and both were delicious. Even the standard menu had plenty of volume, so we were full again following the previous night's dinner. The hospitality of the staff was excellent, and this Property has become one of the places we would like to visit again.

    Yamato-ya Besso

    The building has a quaint appearance that evokes a sense of literary history. It was fun to discover manuscripts written on manuscript paper pasted on the wall inside the closet. At the entrance of the Room, there is a flowing water hand-washing basin, and the water is stopped before bedtime as a thoughtful gesture. The power outlet is located at the lower part of the Room, making it accessible even while seated. The bath in the Room is deep, allowing even petite women to stretch their legs. It's a pity there are no windows, but even in Dogo, I didn't feel the need to go to an outdoor bath. The large public bath, though modest, has an open-air bath and is satisfying. The view was a bit lacking, though... The meals were quite ordinary. Although it was served in the Room, I could enjoy it leisurely.

    I made a reservation at this property to stay in a nice place at Dogo Onsen. The result was a great success!!!!! The attentive service and smiles of the staff, their kindness in answering any questions, the high quality of the room amenities, the delicacy of the meals, the quality of the onsen water, everything was so impressive, the quality of the property was high, and it became a truly memorable and very satisfying trip! Thank you very much. If you are unsure, I recommend this property. (However, the bath is small, so if a group is bathing, it is better to avoid that time.)

    A Relaxing Stay

    Stay for 2 nights and 3 days. The staff's response was courteous and allowed us to behave naturally. The large bath in the villa is small and cozy, allowing for a relaxing experience. If you prefer a larger bath, it is recommended to visit the main building, but even though it's close, you have to go outside, so if it rains, you'll need an umbrella for the move. Also, there is no shop in the villa, so if you go with the image of a regular Hotel or Ryokan, there might be a gap. We, as a couple, wanted to relax, so we felt it was very enjoyable. As it was once used by politicians and celebrities, it is very quiet. You can relax. Draft beer is also available.
