    We had a relaxing stay!

I stayed here solo just before the Obon holidays. The detached Room was very spacious, and I really enjoyed the Onsen a lot! I didn’t use the stairs connecting the scenic-view bath to the open-air bath because they felt a bit unstable, and it was scary being able to see below. Dinner had many dishes, and I ate until I was full. It was delicious, so I finished everything. The breakfast basket was adorable. I ate a lot as well—thank you for the wonderful meal. I was very satisfied because I could stay for just over 40,000 yen as a solo traveler! I always brew and drink rooibos tea, so having a Daiohs water dispenser was really appreciated! For future improvement: as others have mentioned, it would be great if the glass windows in the scenic-view bath were kept cleaner so you can enjoy the view more. Also, the door leading from the scenic-view bath out to the wood deck seemed to fit quite poorly. If staying at full price, I feel maintenance should be improved a bit more. It’s a small thing, but having some local drinks in the refrigerator would add a special touch, so it might be worth considering. That said, despite all my comments, I’d definitely like to visit again. Thank you!

    Birthday Trip

The Room and the Onsen were spacious and really wonderful! The squirrels were adorable too! However, even though I informed you in advance about ingredients I can’t eat, nothing was changed in the end. Also, although I mentioned it was a birthday trip, the payment method made the full amount clearly visible to my companion. I would have appreciated a little more consideration. Still, the Room was excellent and the food was very delicious. Overall I’m satisfied, so I’d like to come again!

An Accommodation with Delicious Meals and Visiting Squirrels

I decided to stay on short notice since I was able to take some time off. With my IKYU Diamond member benefits, I checked in early and headed straight to the private bath. Although it should have offered a lush green view outside, the windows were so dirty that you could hardly see through them. It was very disappointing and made it feel like the cleaning wasn’t thorough. Since the beautiful forest view is one of the highlights, this is something that can be improved quickly and should be addressed. The bath area also had deteriorated wood around it, which felt unhygienic, so I didn’t feel like using it a second time. I really hope this will be improved. That said, the meals were excellent! Watching squirrels running through the forest, I was able to relax and enjoy a restful break. Thank you very much.

Spend time in a private, secluded space away from the outside world.

This cottage-style traditional house offers a strong sense of privacy, with a Room featuring high ceilings and impressive exposed beams. The open-air bath is built with the same beam structure, and soaking in it feels as if you are in a natural forest. Right in front of you, the Pacific Ocean and Oshima Island stretch out, and seeing squirrels running along the beams and hearing the seasonal warbler’s song was truly soothing. You won’t run into other guests, making it ideal for those who want to spend time quietly; however, it may not suit those seeking social interaction. The living room, dining-only room, bedroom, and indoor bath are all separate, and the layout is comfortable because cooking smells do not drift into other rooms. Considering the price, this Accommodation is recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy peace, quiet, and nature.

    Retro Hideaway Accommodation

Step through the small entrance curtain after getting out of the taxi, and you'll find a rustic wooden building nestled in the forest. The accommodation features 5 rooms in the main building and 2 detached rooms, for a total of 7 rooms. There are private dining areas and reservable baths available. The wooden balcony room bath has an arched bottom, allowing you to stretch your legs and recline while gazing at the sky through the trees. The course meals served one after another are made with high-quality ingredients and are exceptionally delicious. This retro accommodation is far from modern. It is perfect for those seeking relaxation with a sense of Japanese nostalgia.

    The Room, meals, and...

The Room, meals, and bath were excellent. There were plenty of towels, making the bathing experience very pleasant. The service was great and overall outstanding! If I may suggest, cutting the abalone into bite-sized pieces might make it easier to eat. In the morning, birds and squirrels come to visit. My mother (in her 80s) was also very satisfied. Highly recommended for those who want to relax and unwind!

The room's bath was excellent. I was able to relax. The meals were also very delicious. I plan to strengthen my legs and stay in a second-floor room next time.

It's been a while since my last visit.

Thank you for staying with us in our separate accommodation for a total of three guests, including a mother and two daughters. Having spent much of our time traveling abroad due to work, the pandemic shifted our focus to domestic travel over the past three years. As a family of three women (with the youngest living separately), we are often busy with work and daily life. Over ten years ago, I stayed at another one of your accommodations with friends and was deeply impressed by the experience. Wanting to give my children a break from city life during an early summer vacation, I decided to stay in another room at your hotel this time. One noticeable change was that indoor smoking is no longer allowed due to modern regulations. However, being able to smoke on the terrace was explained as an option, which worked perfectly for us as all three are smokers—this became one reason we chose this hotel again. Although there were concerns about typhoon weather during our trip, both journeys went smoothly without any issues. For transportation, we booked a private four-person compartment on the "Saphir Odoriko" train from Shinagawa Station to Izu-Kogen Station for the first time and planned to take a taxi from there directly to your accommodation. However, after unexpectedly clear skies following the typhoon's passing, we made an impromptu stop at Kadowaki Suspension Bridge—a place I fondly remembered visiting before—with guidance from our driver (we called ahead regarding our slightly delayed arrival). The meals were as exquisite as ever—filled with carefully prepared seafood dishes (and even beef stew). As light eaters by nature, unfortunately some food remained uneaten despite its quality; in hindsight requesting smaller portions initially would have been better (as done successfully for breakfast). We sincerely apologize if this caused any inconvenience. The staff member assigned to assist us in our room was young yet very kind and attentive. One minor issue worth mentioning is that several parts of the screen door leading from the hallway onto the terrace got stuck when opening or closing it repeatedly—it felt like something that could be easily repaired considering your pricing level. Eventually out of frustration we stopped using it altogether. Interestingly enough my children had never seen traditional spiral mosquito coils before; simply lighting them on terraces became an enjoyable activity! As this is more of a retreat-style accommodation designed for relaxation within its rooms/hotel environment itself—it turned into memorable moments etched firmly into my children's memories too. Thank you once again!

    An Extraordinary Moment

I visited with my wife and son, and we were delighted by the stylishly renovated traditional house and the spacious open-air bath in the midst of vast nature. The meals were highly satisfying in both taste and portion, and we appreciated the various services, including complimentary drinks in the refrigerator. We had a very comfortable stay as a family. This is definitely one of the accommodations we would love to visit again.

    A serene and warm accommodation

We stayed in a detached accommodation. Upon arrival, the owner welcomed us and guided us to our room. The room was very spacious, and as mentioned in the reviews, squirrels visited us multiple times. The onsen temperature was just right, and we enjoyed it both in the morning and at night. We stayed here to celebrate a birthday, and when we mentioned that my partner has a big appetite (laughs), they kindly accommodated our request—much appreciated! The staff carefully prepared and explained each dish for us. When leaving, both the owner and staff saw us off until we were out of sight, which made us feel their warmth. It’s a place that makes you want to come back again! The space, people, food, bath, room—everything was perfect!

    It was a wonderful stay.

I stayed in March. The room design was perfect, and even with a family of four, we didn't feel cramped. The outdoor bath was lovely, but my favorite was the indoor bath and the dressing room with floor heating. Since the weather wasn't great, we spent most of our 2-night, 3-day stay in the room. I also loved that there were interesting magazines available to read! Here are some suggestions for improvement: * The designer sofa shows noticeable wear on the seat; perhaps it could be maintained. * For children's meals, simple options like rice, miso soup, and a drink would suffice. Side dishes like curry, hamburger steak, or fried chicken to choose from would be just right—elaborate dishes like ankimo aren't necessary for kids. * Even if reducing the number of items served is necessary, avoiding pre-made products would be better. * The legs of the chair in the dressing room have visible rust; it would be great if they could be cleaned up. * How about introducing Netflix or similar services? The staff at this accommodation were all kind and made it a truly relaxing experience for both body and mind. This time we stayed in "Kan" Room; next time we'll try another one!

    A quiet and cozy Ryokan

The building has an overall aged feel but is reasonably charming due to its traditional Japanese-style design. The Ryokan was smaller than expected. Cleaning was thorough, and the service was generally good. The hairdryer in the Room had very weak airflow, making it difficult to dry hair. There was a mirror for makeup, but it was broken and could not be adjusted for use. The Room type featured a simple layout with an 8-tatami mat Japanese-style room, a toilet, and a small washbasin, along with an attached open-air bath that gave it a cozy feel. Since there were no chairs in the Room, it might be inconvenient for elderly guests. The food was delicious but could have been better with one more dish added to the menu.

May not be suitable for seniors.

It was a very pleasant property with delicious meals, but for someone like me who has difficulty walking, the stay was a bit challenging. There were no handrails in the bath, stairs, dining area, or room, so I had to rely on my husband or the property staff to assist me each time. Additionally, there was nowhere to sit inside the room at all, which might not be suitable for seniors who are unsteady on their feet. The entrance of the room had small stones laid out with stepping stone-like placements for feet; I wished there were handrails. The property is charmingly small and feels like a hidden retreat. The staff are kind and pleasant as well, making it one of my favorite properties.

The location is difficult to find, so information such as directions is needed in advance. I think a 10 a.m. checkout is too early.

A property you want to visit every year

This property is the first place that comes to mind when thinking of comfort. I stayed in a separate room, and the size, layout, furniture, indoor bath, and open-air bath were all just right and comfortable, making it feel like I was at a vacation home. I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and although I went out a bit on the second day, it was so great just being in the room that I wanted to return to the property and relax as soon as possible. Since the property is located in a place that coexists with nature, I initially had some resistance to getting used to insects relaxing in the room, but including that aspect, I felt that the nature was rich and the environment was good. I had breakfast and dinner in a private room, and the menu was abundant and very delicious, leaving nothing behind, but I ended up quite full. The chef's customer-oriented presentation and portion sizes were excellent, and the dishes were very cute and beautiful, providing visual enjoyment as well. The property was comfortable, the food was delicious, and I want to make a reservation again next year. Lastly, the staff were very kind, calm, and provided wonderful hospitality. Thank you very much for taking care of us. I definitely want to visit again next year.

Hotel relocated from a traditional Japanese house

I visited with my mother and spouse. The Onsen was wonderful, but since the open-air bath is visible from every Room, I thought it would be nice to have some ingenuity, such as blinds, from inside the Room. It was a pity that we couldn't relax in the living room when someone was in the open-air bath. Other than that, the food was delicious, and the CD in the Room was lovely and nice.

    A true hidden Stays

The facility is old, but the rooms were well cleaned and I was able to stay comfortably. At night, it was really relaxing because it was pitch dark and quiet. I felt warm and fuzzy as squirrels and small birds came close by. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were made with a variety of ingredients, had plenty of volume, and were very delicious. I ate too much. The open-air onsen in the room had just the right temperature, and I was able to warm up slowly while enjoying the sense of openness. Since it is such a property and there are no tourist spots nearby, it is perfect for a retreat.

    The age of the Facil...

The age of the Facility was unavoidable, but I felt a bit unsafe as the wood of the open-air bath tub in the guest room was quite worn out. The lack of amenities was a bit disappointing, but the staff were truly kind and the food was delicious. I had a relaxing stay. Thank you very much.

    Ah, it feels so good!

Stayed with my elderly father who uses a wheelchair. We consulted with the Property in advance and reserved the only room on the first floor. On the day of arrival, we traveled by bus, and before check-in, the staff at the Property kindly waited for us outside. Since my father's legs and back are weak, we requested various assistance from the staff, and everyone was more than willing to help, which was a great relief. The words in the title were spoken by my father in the morning after bathing while looking at the forest. It was neither too cold nor too hot, with no insects, making it the best season, and we were blessed with good weather, which was truly pleasant! In the toilet, instead of the usual plastic containers, there were cute pots placed. During check-out, a squirrel made an appearance. My father said, "It came to greet us!" which was so adorable that I couldn't help but smile!

We are sorry and look forward to your next visit.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. Regarding the meals, there are individual differences based on what each person usually eats, so I would like to refrain from evaluating them. If I were to express my personal opinion on the taste, it was neither good nor bad. As for the service, I think it was good as they were doing their best. Also, the service was provided by a Japanese man, so there was no inconvenience. The following are suggestions for improvement that the person in charge (owner) might consider. Main building, first floor, Suou Stays. 1. There are blinds on the terrace to prevent visibility. They are fixed with noticeable white plastic strings seen in supermarkets, which ruins the atmosphere. Also, the blinds are torn and moldy, so they should be replaced. 2. Despite it being past midnight, BGM was playing from the lobby and could be heard in the room, so we asked for it to be stopped. 3. There are wooden slats on the terrace, but some nails are protruding, which could cause injury if stepped on. The rotten parts of the slats should be partially replaced and repaired, as stepping on them could cause them to flip up and lead to a fall, which is very dangerous. 4. As mentioned earlier, the wood in the indoor bath is rotten, which is very disappointing. How about the owner personally checking the room and Facility from the perspective of a guest? I thought it was a great waste, so I dared to write this. I hope that improvements will be made by the next time I stay.

    It was my first stay...

It was my first stay. I missed the signboard guidance to the property and passed by (I knew I had to turn left at the furniture store, though...). The Suou room was on the first floor, which was convenient as it was close to the private bath and dining area. I was able to bring my own drinks to the dining area, so I could enjoy the alcohol and food at my leisure. The staff were very kind and pleasant. Next time, I would like to stay at the villa. It was a pity that I couldn't meet the squirrels.

It was a very lovely space!

A room surrounded by the interior of dreams, featuring Ole Wanscher, Louis Poulsen, and Bang & Olufsen. The solid atmosphere of the traditional house, the open-air bath, and the raised bedroom created a truly wonderful space. I had been eagerly looking forward to it after seeing various photos in advance, and the room exceeded my expectations! The meals were also very delicious and beautifully presented, and the birthday cake prepared for us was lovely. If I had to point out anything, it would be that dust had accumulated on the beautiful Louis Poulsen lighting, and when my companion first used the restroom, it seemed the toilet paper hadn't flushed (laughs). Other than that, it was such a wonderful property that it felt like a shame, but I understand that the staff have many tasks to handle daily. The person who provided the shuttle service and the one who prepared the meals were both very kind, so overall, I was extremely satisfied! Thank you for the wonderful time.

    The meals are wonderful.

The meals were very satisfying in both taste and quantity. Dinner was arranged with wonderful taste, and the final sea bream namero dashi chazuke was excellent. The staff's response was calm and efficient, providing a pleasant service throughout the stay. The only disappointment was that the wood around the private onsen's bathtub was damaged, and the temperature setting of the room's open-air bath was unknown, making it too hot to use. It truly felt like a hidden retreat for adults.

    Solo travel

I have become fond of solo hot spring trips since the COVID-19 pandemic. As travel demand has fully recovered, many inns have stopped offering solo traveler plans, making this a precious experience. As the reviews mentioned, there were wild squirrels right on the tree just outside the balcony! It was a mysterious moment, feeling like being in a forest despite being close to the sea. The food may not have been made with expensive ingredients, but the presentation was elaborate, making it enjoyable and delicious. Thank you very much.
