    The food is delicious, but

The large public bath was wonderful, and the food was delicious. However, it was disappointing that at this price the dining area was not private. The tables were close together, and we could hear what people at the next table were talking about. The service was fast, which is good, but we felt watched the whole time and it made it hard to eat comfortably. Even though the meal was excellent, we wanted to enjoy it slowly in a relaxed atmosphere.

    We stayed in Decembe...

We stayed in December last time for the crab, and this was our first summer stay since our very first visit. The garden greenery was vibrant, the fish was delicious, and we felt that summer is wonderful too. This trip also celebrated my husband’s birthday, and they prepared a gorgeous dessert plate at dinner, which became a lovely memory. All the staff had wonderful smiles, and we were able to spend another comfortable stay. We would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

I was able to spend a luxurious and blissful time.

This was a two-night solo trip with an added Birthday Plan. I stayed here once when I was younger and remembered the wonderful hospitality. So, to mark a milestone age and my final year of work, I chose this Accommodation to treat myself to something special. Just as I had hoped, the staff’s hospitality, the meals, and the open-air bath in my Room were all outstanding. I truly enjoyed myself and felt completely relaxed. The shaved ice offered during summer was also a lovely touch of hospitality. Everyone was so kind, and I was delighted to receive a thoughtful gift as well—it became a wonderful keepsake. Thank you very much for taking such great care of me. After I retire, I would love to visit again. Just one request: if possible, I would prefer toothpaste amenities made in Japan without ingredients such as parabens. Since the other amenities are so carefully selected, this part felt a little disappointing… Perhaps it’s because there are many international guests. I sincerely hope you will continue to be a wonderful Hotel with the very best hospitality. This time, I also felt that Yamashiro Onsen is compact and not overly crowded with tourists—perhaps it’s a hidden gem for relaxing at an Onsen town. I imagine operations can be challenging at times, but please know that I’m cheering you on.

    Simply wonderful.

The Accommodation’s calm atmosphere, the cuisine, and the baths were all wonderful, but what impressed me most was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. Everyone we spoke with combined deep knowledge with warm, attentive service, making our stay truly comfortable. I initially wondered if this trip might be a bit luxurious for traveling with my three underage sons, but they seemed to experience what true quality means, and I am now wholeheartedly satisfied.

    Thank you for your support.

We stayed here as a couple. Rather than a Ryokan, the property felt like a museum—an expansive space with calmness and refined elegance. Wood is used generously throughout, and the air carried a clean, distinctly Japanese scent reminiscent of hinoki cypress and herbs. It was clear that everything is meticulously maintained; the Room, lobby, and large public bath were all very clean, making our stay refreshing and comfortable. Every meal was delicious, but the charcoal-grilled ayu (sweetfish) and the takikomi rice with abalone and turban shell were outstanding. Not only the luxurious dishes impressed us—the simple steamed vegetables at breakfast also left a strong impression, with their natural sweetness shining through. We also appreciated that plenty of towels and bath towels were provided in both the large public bath and the open-air bath in our Room, so we could bathe as many times as we liked in complete comfort. It was such a wonderful experience that we would gladly make “staying at Muka-yu” the purpose of our trip itself. Thank you very much.

Not recommended for those who prefer traditional Japanese style, but the meals are satisfactory.

My wife had wanted to visit this Accommodation for a long time. With its refined, minimalist modern design and highly polished staff service, the auberge-style dining was beyond complaint in both quality and quantity. However, as someone who prefers a traditional Ryokan, I honestly didn’t feel at ease—it felt more like staying in an art museum. (Our regular stay is Nishimuraya Honkan in Kinosaki Onsen; we find the Rooms with a private open-air bath and garden especially relaxing. For that reason, we have also stayed at Nishimuraya Shogetsutei two or three times at my wife’s and daughter’s request; while we were satisfied with the cuisine, it felt rather Hotel-like and we couldn’t fully unwind. We feel more relaxed at “Kayotei” in Yamanaka Onsen (laugh). Also, it would be nice if guests could choose between dining in a large hall or in private/semi-private rooms…) Also, I think exploring (strolling around) the property would be even more comfortable if the in-house wear were samue rather than yukata. This stay was on the final day of a 4-night/5-day drive from Kobe, and I was completely exhausted—so for me it felt like the wrong choice. (My wife, on the other hand, was fully satisfied; it was exactly the sophisticated Accommodation she expected and she’s eager to return—so it’s surely a perfectly fine place.) We may well stay again (laugh). In any case, thank you very much for taking care of us.

    I’d love to visit again.

It was a clean Accommodation, and I felt comfortable staying there. Two sweetfish were served at dinner; one tasted slightly bitter, while the other was delicious, so I wondered why.

    For a 60th birthday celebration

We stayed for two nights from June 1 to 3 to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. It was a truly comfortable stay surrounded by fresh greenery. Tokyo had severe weather due to the typhoon, but fortunately the Kanazawa area was not significantly affected. In fact, even the sound of the rain felt soothing, and we were able to enjoy a quiet, relaxing stay. This Accommodation has excellent Rooms, baths, and meals. On top of that, all of the staff were wonderful, and chatting with them in the restaurant and lounge became a very fond memory. The interior design is simple yet stylish and functional, and I felt that the sense of space helped create a feeling of calm for us as well. This time we also tried a treatment session, which was an exceptional experience. It felt as if all our daily fatigue simply melted away at once. Next time, we would love to visit again in a different season.

    Not worth the price.

At dinner, the staff included people of various nationalities. It seemed that international guests were enjoying themselves as well. The dishes made the most of the ingredients, and everything was delicious. The Room also felt like being in nature, with bamboo and plaster finishes. We were told the Facility is closed for about a month for maintenance, and it didn’t feel old at all. However, when we entered the Room, we noticed a musty smell that bothered us. Overall, I don’t think it was worth the price.

Staying here for the first time in 10 years.

A wonderful, calm Accommodation where you can relax and unwind. It had been 10 years since my last stay, and it seems various areas have been renovated, making it even more lovely than before. An Accommodation I’d definitely like to visit again.

    A nice, relaxing Ryokan

The Room was spacious and comfortable. The layout seems to vary by Room, and in some cases there was space that felt a bit unnecessarily large, but it never felt cramped and was definitely comfortable. The meals were also excellent. For the crab dishes, the staff removed the meat from the shell, so I could enjoy it without getting my hands dirty. As expected, Hokuriku crab is outstanding this time of year. I used the spa during an available time slot on the day and it was fantastic. I wanted to go again the next day because it felt so good, but it was fully booked so I couldn’t. Reservation required. The baths are automatically kept at a constant temperature and water level, so you can always bathe at the same temperature. It’s described as an Onsen, but it felt a little different from Kosoyu in Yamashiro Onsen—Kosoyu seems like pure source water and is extremely hot, while this Ryokan’s Onsen may be more diluted with added water. Both the in-Room bath and the large public bath were very relaxing. I stayed for two nights (Multiple Night Stay), and most guests staying multiple nights were foreigners—Westerners, Chinese, and Koreans in roughly equal proportions. Overall, about 70% of guests were international visitors. I’d like to come back again to relax at a leisurely pace.

    I made a Reservation...

I made a Reservation because I wanted to visit Kosoyu in winter and was looking forward to a crab meal. It was a cold day, but thanks to the Onsen, my body warmed up. I stayed in a Japanese-style Room with heated flooring, and since I used the open-air bath in the Room while it was snowing, having no roof was actually perfect. The meal was an excellent crab feast and absolutely delicious. The wine pairing matched well, and I had a wonderful time. Next time, I’d like to visit in December before the fishing season closes. Thank you for a relaxing weekend stay.

    Thank you very much.

This was my second stay, and visiting in a different season was absolutely the right choice. The open-air bath while watching the snow fall was wonderful, and everything was as clean as ever. I’m also grateful for the friendly, attentive service from the staff. Both breakfast and dinner were outstanding. This time I was able to make a Reservation for the spa as well, making it a truly luxurious day. I’ll be back again, and I look forward to seeing you.

It was a very lovely Ryokan. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and the children were very happy. The bath in the Room was excellent. We also enjoyed exploring various parts of the facility with the children. The service was great, and the meals were delicious. However, it would have been even better if meals could be served in the Room or a private dining area.

    I felt relaxed.

I visited Hokuriku in December to enjoy Kobako crab before the fishing ban. As this accommodation is a member of Relais & Châteaux, I decided to stay here, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. This accommodation has a unique charm that can only be appreciated by visiting in person. Photos and videos do not fully capture its appeal. The service, facilities, modern art, and overall atmosphere create a high-quality space for relaxation that is hard to convey through words or images. The onsen features an indoor bath with natural hot spring water that feels soft and pleasant, as well as an outdoor bath with charming scenery. The dining experience was exceptional; I thoroughly enjoyed Kobako crab and Noto beef. The pairing options were thoughtfully curated, and receiving the wine and sake list in book form the next day was a delightful touch. If given the opportunity, I would love to visit again.

    A Luxurious Getaway

The guest rooms were even more wonderful than the photos, with attention to detail that allowed for a relaxing and pleasant stay. The amenities were excellent, and thoughtful touches like replacing towels during meals made the experience truly exceptional. The Spa Entei Treatment Center was also fantastic. The Yakushiyama treatment using Onsen and herbs was deeply satisfying. As for the cuisine, I had rock oysters that exceeded my expectations in taste. Although the restaurant was an open space, I received attentive service and enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable time even dining alone. The hospitality was outstanding. Many of the younger staff members were particularly attentive, making me feel this is an accommodation with a bright future ahead. I had the most wonderful holiday here—thank you so much! I will definitely visit again!

    I felt relaxed.

The view from the large public bath was as beautiful as a painting. Everywhere else was also so picturesque that it felt like capturing each moment, allowing for a truly wonderful time. The Room was spacious and comfortable, but I thought it would be nice to have a table near the sofa to place drinks or other items. Each dish in the meal was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. I could relax and forget about the intense summer heat.

    It was comfortable.

Everything, including areas beyond the room and bath, was very clean, allowing for a very comfortable stay. The private open-air bath in the room and the onsen were incredibly relaxing. The meals perfectly suited our preferences and were absolutely delicious both in the morning and evening. We would love to stay again during a different season and plan to make a reservation for the spa next time. Thank you to all the staff members for your hospitality. We look forward to visiting again!

It was a wonderful Ryokan that created memories to last a lifetime.

This year, as I celebrated my coming of age and my mother's birthday, I chose the accommodation "Beniya Mukayu" to express gratitude for everything so far. The deciding factor in selecting this ryokan was its global recognition through Michelin Key and Relais & Châteaux, but the actual stay exceeded all expectations, leaving me with an unforgettable experience that made me think, "I may never encounter a better accommodation than this." The plan we selected was "Japanese Room with Open-Air Bath - Tag-Labeled Live Snow Crab Feast." The room seamlessly connected to the garden through large openings, creating a sense of spaciousness both visually and spatially. The architecture skillfully incorporated "ma" (space) and "yohaku" (margin), with features such as the open entranceway, a large pine tree in the garden, rest areas throughout the facility offering coffee and more, an art gallery on the top floor of the ryokan, and a library—all designed to provide guests with tranquil moments. The overall atmosphere of the accommodation felt less about luxury alone but more like a space imbued with refined aesthetics. The service was meticulous down to every detail: complimentary shuttle service; well-equipped amenities in both rooms and public baths; heated bathroom floors; morning newspapers delivered to rooms (including English-language options for international guests); breakfast choices between Japanese or Western styles—all reflecting thoughtful hospitality. In particular, I found it remarkable how staff members provided such thorough guidance around both the facility and our room after check-in. Additionally, there were foreign staff members at dining venues who communicated fluently in other languages for international guests' convenience—making it reassuring even for visitors from abroad. This is truly a one-of-a-kind accommodation where you can spend time completely detached from daily life. As others have mentioned before me—I now wish to experience Beniya Mukayu during each season: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Apologies if this review comes belatedly due to time differences—it was truly exceptional. Thank you very much for allowing us such an incredible stay!

Enjoyed the winter with snow at Yamashiro Onsen.

I had given up on strolling through the Onsen town due to the snow, but I decided to walk to "Iroha Soan." When I passed by a Shuttle Service bus, they kindly gave me a ride. This was my second visit to Yamashiro Onsen, but I hadn't explored the town before. Thanks to this opportunity, I was able to leisurely wander through the snowy Onsen town, buy Kaga vegetables, and enjoy an omelet rice at a local diner—earning plenty of "likes" for my experience. After returning home and editing videos on my smartphone, the warmth and comfort of "Soan" brought back memories of relaxation. I'll visit again when vibrant colors return to the mountains. Yamashiro may turn into "Yamashiro (my castle)" for me in future visits!

    Comfortable

I visited after a long time. I was worried about the snow, but it was clear and I could enjoy the remaining snow. For me, everything is comfortable at this property. The "Choji" room. It seems to have been slightly renovated with underfloor heating and a more comfortable sofa in the back. The amenities have an original scent that soothes your mind and heals you. The open-air bath in the room is at a suitable temperature, and since it's this season, there are no insects. It's perfect for staying in. For dinner, I asked the sommelier to suggest some drinks I wanted to try. There were not only crab dishes but also items that made me feel spring, which were deliciously enjoyed. Although I left some Nodoguro rice, I almost finished everything else. I received a spa treatment as well. The technique is reliable, so every time I stay for treatment purposes (advance reservation). This time, I fell into a deep sleep halfway through it. After the treatment, my body felt lighter. It's a property I'd like to visit again in another season.

It was a lovely Stays. The staff were kind, but it had the vibe of a guesthouse. I really liked the room. I was surprised to see someone with full-body tattoos in the large public bath. At the breakfast venue, that person was wearing shorts, so the tattoos were clearly visible on their legs as well. Is this the right way to handle things at the Property?

No need to go out, a Stays where you can spend your own time from check-in to check-out.

This was my first stay. Although it was my first time, it was so comfortable that I ended up spending my entire time from check-in to check-out without going out. The room, meals, and large public bath made for a very satisfying stay for both my mind and body. Strolling through the Onsen town is one of the pleasures of the trip. However, if you stay at "Beniya," I recommend limiting your outings and fully immersing yourself in their hospitality.

    The best accommodation

I instantly became a fan upon seeing the cozy and intimate atmosphere of the lobby. The bath was clean, the room was comfortable, and everything up to the kaiseki meal ending with sushi was excellent. If I may be greedy, the lineup of alcoholic beverages (wine, sake) was a bit lacking, so I hope you will consider expanding it.
