    Suitable for solo travelers

I stayed here on a whim for a solo trip. Since I’m not an experienced traveler and I have allergic rhinitis, I wanted to choose a proper, slightly upscale Accommodation. Even though it was just before the Obon holidays, there happened to be one Room available, so I booked it. I stayed in a Room with an ocean view. As soon as I entered the Room, the scent of wood filled the air. Because this is an Accommodation with (for me) a fairly high price tag, thoughts about cost performance and time efficiency inevitably crossed my mind—even though traveling is supposed to be a break from that kind of thinking. But the fragrance hit me immediately, and that alone made me feel glad I came. It helped me stop caring about practicality and switch into simply enjoying the trip. Stepping out onto the balcony, you could literally see the sea right there. Kawazu cherry trees provided just enough screening in a pleasant way, giving it a private feel. At night and early in the morning, I sat on the balcony to cool down after bathing and enjoy the breeze; there were no insects at all, so it was very comfortable. I got plenty of reading done. The Room was also clean enough that I didn’t need any allergy medication. The meals were just the right amount, and everything was delicious—especially the fish. Since I was there anyway, I also tried some local sake. The chopsticks were quite thin wooden ones; they were fine for picking up food, but it was a little difficult to apply force when cutting something like pastry-wrapped dishes—though that may simply be my lack of familiarity. All staff members were kind and well-groomed, which allowed me to relax throughout my stay. It felt like well-trained young staff working very hard at their service—charming in its own way—but different from veteran hospitality in that sense, so I rated it 4 stars for service quality rather than 5. There wasn’t anything lacking or disappointing. I used the bath three times, and here too you could feel warmth from wood elements. It isn’t an open-air bath since it’s roofed over, but thanks to large glass panels (one-way mirror), it still felt open and airy. It was my first time trying a barrel-style bath large enough to stretch out my legs fully in. The shampoo selection and amenities also seemed good. The location has parking available and is close to the station; however, if you’re walking there are some fairly steep stairs along the way—and access to second-floor Rooms is by stairs only—so if you have mobility issues or weak knees/hips/back you may want somewhere more suitable (though you should still be able to spend your time mostly on one floor). I had hoped to see sunrise if possible but couldn’t due to cloudy weather. Since the sea is right in front of you anyway، I went down just long enough to dip my feet in—it was beautiful water. Overall، I had a very satisfying stay۔ Thank you very much۔

I stayed for a refreshing getaway. It was conveniently located just steps from the station, so check-in went smoothly. I mistakenly made the Reservation under a male name, but thank you for kindly accommodating us and preparing the Room afterward. We could see the ocean from the Room, and it was very quiet both inside and outside, allowing us to relax in peace. The open-air bath in the guest room was at the perfect temperature, and I enjoyed it five times during my stay. The meal was excellent—the sashimi platter was especially luxurious and delicious. The recommended abalone we added was large and thick; since it was steamed and grilled, it had a pleasant firmness without being tough, making it easy to eat. It was truly delicious with melted butter on top. Thank you for your attentive service from check-in to check-out. I would love to stay again.

    It was an excellent accommodation.

I stayed here on a solo trip. After getting off the train at Imaihama-Kaigan Station, this Accommodation is located straight ahead at the top of the steep hill in front of the station. Passing under the cherry-pink noren curtain and stepping inside, I was shown to a small room in front of the front desk, where I checked in at a relaxed pace while enjoying matcha and sweets. In fact, I arrived almost at the same time as another guest, but they seemed to be guided to a different private room (the dining venue), so there was no sharing tables in that small room. Once I was shown to my Room and given an explanation, everything after that was free time. I spent it exactly as I pleased—soaking in and out of the bath, reading in a hammock, or just lounging indoors. (It was already a bit hot for the hammock, but since it was there…) Before long it was time for dinner, and I headed to my private dining room. It was an extravagant kaiseki course. The sashimi in particular came beautifully arranged on a large platter even for one person, and it alone felt quite substantial. At check-in they recommended an additional dish saying they had received some excellent abalone that day, but for an older solo traveler’s stomach, even without any add-ons it was more than enough…. For dessert there was lemon sorbet, plus a take-home roasted green tea pudding to enjoy back in my Room, and I left completely full and very satisfied. I slept soundly on a bed with just the right firmness, and the next morning breakfast—after waking myself up with another Onsen soak—was also wonderfully satisfying: gentle Japanese fare. After eating I took yet another bath and dozed off again in the hammock, until checkout arrived far too soon. If I had to mention one drawback: whether or not the bath attached to the Room can truly be called “open-air” is debatable…. Understandably, although there is some distance, it sits at an angle visible from other inns and from the beach area, so it is enclosed with smoked glass panels and sashes; “a semi-open-air view bath” feels like a more accurate description. Also, while the water temperature was well adjusted—comfortable even for longer summer soaks— heat builds up quickly unless you keep those windows open, and both temperature and humidity rise steadily from the changing area all the way to near the entrance. So opening them first thing to let air flow through felt essential. Other than that there’s nothing to fault, and as this new week begins I’m already thinking: someday again… no—hopefully soon. I’ll work hard so I can treat myself again… (lol)

    The ultimate Ryokan for relaxation

I’m very glad I chose to spend my first Ryokan stay in a while here. The hospitality, Room, views, and cuisine—everything was excellent. With only four Rooms and visiting in the off-season, I was able to enjoy a dreamlike time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

Unlimited Onsen Enjoyment with Ocean Views

With only four groups per day, this hidden-gem Accommodation felt very private, and we hardly ran into other guests. Since our Onsen was in a second-floor Room, we had a panoramic ocean view and could fully enjoy the Onsen while listening to the sound of the waves—it was wonderful. The food was also excellent, especially the assorted sashimi platter and simmered golden eye snapper. Breakfast wasn’t too much; the portion size was just right. One thing we noticed was some aging in the Room’s structure (such as pillars and thresholds), so it would be even better if it were renovated.

    A cozy, just-right accommodation

We stayed just after the New Year holidays. Rather than one large Room, it has a separate living area and bedroom, each comfortably sized. Many Accommodations in Izu can be cold in winter, but perhaps thanks to this layout, we stayed very warm. The meals were just right and delicious. Located on a hill above Imaihama, the view from the Room is great, and it’s perfect if you want to relax in a cozy Accommodation.

    Alone...

The meal portions were just right for me—not too much, not too little. I was amazed by the luxurious sashimi. I reserved a room with an ocean view, and the sunrise was so beautiful that I ended up taking a second nap in the hammock until just before check-out—it was incredibly relaxing. The amenities were well-prepared, and I appreciated having both yukata and samue since I prefer samue. All the staff members were consistently polite and soothing, which made my stay very comforting. It was perfect for a solo retreat. Thank you very much!

    Needs a little more effort.

A small accommodation with only 4 rooms located on a slope overlooking Izu Imaihama. This is my second stay here after 4 years. When I stayed here 4 years ago, the management had just changed to a photography studio from Ibaraki Prefecture, which made me a bit anxious. However, those concerns were unfounded, and I felt fortunate to have discovered such a wonderful accommodation. Since last year, they have started accepting solo travelers, so this time marks my return after 4 years. The room I stayed in was "Above the Clouds" on the second floor—the smallest of the four rooms but perfectly sized for solo travel. The onsen's source name listed as "Imaiso" in its composition analysis suggests it might be transported water from Imaiso. With dissolved substances at 2.2mg/kg, it's quite good quality water; however, it's unfortunate that circulation and disinfection are used. The meals were as shown in the photos provided. Compared to what was offered 4 years ago, there has been some downgrading due to rising costs these days—understandable given current circumstances. Personally, I'd be fine with higher prices if it meant maintaining quality. My recommended room would be "Flower of Space," next door to "Above the Clouds." It’s the largest room available and one I'd like to stay in next time. There’s another entrance at this accommodation which turns out to be for wedding photography purposes rather than lodging guests—it seems this is their main business focus now with customers even coming from as far away as Aichi Prefecture. Accommodations with few rooms like this one are becoming more common recently within this price range; however compared against others offering excellent service and experiences along similar lines—there’s still room for improvement here! Enhancements such as increasing dinner variety or adding essential amenities like bathrobes along with better breakfast options would elevate satisfaction further—I look forward eagerly toward improvements during my next visit! 1 Onsen Facility Name: Imaiso 2 Source Name: Motoyu (Mine No.20) 3 Spring Location or Collection Site: Kamo District Kawazu Town Mine Azamirasuke 440-2 4 Spring Quality: Sodium-Chloride Onsen (Hypotonic・Weak Alkaline・High Temperature) 5 Spring Temperature: Source temperature - 96.5°C 6 Onsen Composition (pH8.3): Total Dissolved Substances - 2265mg/kg Metasilicic Acid (H2SiO3) -188.6mg/kg

    Everything was exceptional hospitality!

This was my first time visiting for a workation. The staff's warm hospitality, the incredibly delicious meals, the clean and historic interior (with newly renovated and modernized facilities), the perfect location with a private hinoki open-air bath, reading and napping in a hammock—everything was exceptional! Thanks to this wonderful experience, I was able to focus on work efficiently. The next day, I enjoyed visiting Kinomiya Shrine and part of the Seven Waterfalls tour (though limited due to the heat and bus schedule). On my way back home, I fulfilled my wish of riding the Saphir Odoriko train while savoring delicious curry and wine at its cafeteria. I returned feeling completely refreshed both physically and mentally, ready for an amazing Monday! I look forward to visiting again soon—next time aiming to complete all Seven Waterfalls! Thank you so much for everything! I will definitely choose your accommodation again when visiting Izu in the future!

    Kawazu Cherry Blossoms

We were hoping to see the full bloom of Kawazu cherry blossoms, but this year the blooming was delayed, and they were only partially in bloom. Predicting the cherry blossom season is challenging every year. Although we couldn't fully enjoy flower viewing, we thoroughly enjoyed the lukewarm Onsen, both in our private room and as a reserved bath. With only four rooms available, we hardly encountered other guests. The food was delicious, especially the rice served at breakfast—it was exceptional! The view from our room was soothing, and the service provided by all staff members was outstanding. We had a relaxing stay—thank you very much. We look forward to staying again next year to hopefully see Kawazu cherry blossoms in full bloom!

    I was able to relax.

I happened to have two free days during a three-day weekend, so I searched for accommodations in the Izu area with the following conditions: a room with an open-air bath, meals included, availability for solo travelers, accessible by train, and a small number of guest rooms. That's how I found this inn. The hospitality was very courteous, and I was able to relax greatly. The room was well-equipped with everything necessary, and I particularly appreciated the large air purifier and humidifier, as well as the toe separator amenities. If I were to suggest improvements, I would recommend either improving the quality of the toothbrush or providing multiple ones. The toothbrush provided is the type that becomes unusable after one use. Also, since there is an open-air bath in the room and multiple uses are expected, I think there should be multiple bath towels per person. Please consider this. I would love to stay again at a leisurely pace! Thank you very much.
