    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

The young male staff were efficient and kind. In contrast, the older woman at the front desk was somewhat unfriendly. However, my cousin and her husband who traveled with me were very pleased. The meals were served in many small portions with a wide variety, and everything was delicious. Perhaps because it is an older building, there are many steps, and my cousin—who had knee pain—struggled to get around. It also seemed she could not use the Onsen because going up and down was difficult for her. Compared with Kira no Sato, which we visited before, this place felt less level and harder to move around in. The Room layout also felt a bit inconvenient. These are the reasons I rated some items four stars. The food was just as delicious as ever. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Return visit

I was able to relax. Perhaps because I visited around the same time as last year, it was disappointing that dinner was almost the same except for the sashimi. Also, while my previous Room at least had an outside view, this time the open-air bath didn’t feel very open, which was disappointing.

    It was quiet and relaxing.

The round-trip Shuttle Service was available, which we really appreciated. It’s in a quiet location, so we were able to relax. All the staff we met were polite and provided excellent service. As others have mentioned, the meals were the best we’ve had among all Kyoritsu Group properties we’ve visited. Since spiny lobster was unavailable due to the closed season, abalone sashimi was served instead—everything tasted great, and the portion was surprisingly generous. One small concern: right after check-in, at the open-air area of the rock-bath public bath (toward the back), there were quite large dead insects (beetles and moths). Given the natural surroundings it may be unavoidable, but I’d appreciate it if that area could also be checked more carefully.

This is the third Kyoritsu Resort property.

The meals were the best of any Kyoritsu Resort Accommodation I’ve stayed at so far. I was completely full and skipped the late-night soba for the first time. For the simmered splendid alfonsino hot pot, I thought it would be convenient to have one more bowl without sauce, so you can enjoy the ingredients without any sauce, but otherwise there were no issues; the portions were more than enough, and everything was delicious, including (of course) the sashimi. Not only our Room, but also the stairs, hallways, and dining area were clean and well maintained, which felt very comfortable. The private open-air bath in the Room was right next to the washroom, so it was easy to access without getting cold; I used it many times. Things that other Kyoritsu Resorts had but this one didn’t included ice cream and various drinks. Canned mandarin orange juice and a lactic acid bacteria drink were available after bathing. Rather than beer, I would appreciate having complimentary mineral water stocked in the refrigerator at twice the number of guests.

    Dining

All the staff were very cheerful, and we had a pleasant stay. However, when I mentioned that my companion does not like raw fish, we were told that meal changes cannot be made except for allergies and that we should leave it. As a result, we ended up leaving most of the sashimi. Other Kyoritsu Resort Group properties have been accommodating, but only here we were told they could not offer anything else. It was a bit disappointing. We would have appreciated even a small adjustment or some consideration.

The Room’s open-air bath is completely pointless. The main building might be better.

Some time has passed since my stay, but when I happened to look at the Reviews, I noticed quite a few complaints about the Rooms. At this Accommodation, depending on the Room you get, it can turn out extremely disappointing. Since it’s in central Ito, I wasn’t expecting a view—but it was worse than I imagined. The Room assigned to me had an open-air bath on the side of the annex that connects to the main building, and right in front of it was a wall of the main building. The only privacy screen was a simple fence; you could see windows beyond it. I tried using it once, but there was an oily smell (maybe from a kitchen below), I could hear people talking somewhere nearby, and on top of that the water was so lukewarm that instead of warming up I just kept getting colder—so I got out quickly and went to the large public bath. At check-in they explained that they adjust the water temperature to match check-in time and that early mornings can be lukewarm, but this was still around 4 p.m. On my way back from the large public bath I spoke with staff and said the bath in my Room was too lukewarm to use and asked if they could adjust it at the source; they only told me adjustment wasn’t possible and to add hot water. Adding hot water isn’t Onsen, and since it only trickles out there’s no way that would work—so I gave up on using the in-room bath. When I tried putting my hand in around 8 p.m., it was still just tepid water you wouldn’t call a bath. During pre-checkout payment the next morning they asked something like whether we were relaxing comfortably; when I said again that the bath in my Room was too lukewarm to use, all they said was “We’re very sorry.” It didn’t seem to occur to them to come check for themselves. For reference: another window in the Room had frosted glass; when opened, all you see is a cliff and a storage area. As for meals—they advertise themselves as a dining Ryokan, but is this what “dining” means? Tastes vary by person, but neither presentation nor food looked appealing at all—it felt extremely cost-cutting. Normally at a Ryokan I make a point of finishing everything (including garnish), but things like wilted shiso leaves cut in half weren’t appetizing at all. A single chrysanthemum petal here, one slice of radish there, about 3 cm of shiso flower spike—honestly laughable. Even the ice under items looked reused with gaps; if so, they should just plate everything instead. The one saving grace was that although small, their large public bath looked cleaner than in photos and had good-quality water. My family said there’s no point if you can’t use your in-room bath and meals are mediocre—and they were right. It left me feeling so unpleasant that two weeks later we went back to our regular place instead.

This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can truly feel heartfelt warmth.

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We chose this Accommodation based on Reviews we had been reading for about a year. After actually staying, we were completely satisfied with everything: the warm hospitality of all the staff, the comfort of the Facility, the wonderful free-flowing hot-spring bath in our Room, and the carefully prepared, delicious dinners and breakfasts. Thank you very much for the flowers placed in our Room as an anniversary gift. We truly hope to stay here again for future special occasions. Thank you very much.

    The meals are delicious.

Although it was only a short distance from the parking lot to the Accommodation, we really appreciated being given a ride by car. The Room was spacious, and the in-room bath was also large, with plenty of space in the washing area. We were able to have dinner served in our Room and enjoy the delicious meal at a relaxed pace. It was also fun that there were some dishes we could choose ourselves. For the large public bath, the rock bath was more spacious and better. The cypress bath is slippery, so you need to be careful. There is a warning sign, but when we thought it wouldn’t be that bad, it turned out to be more slippery than expected. Everyone at the Accommodation provided cheerful service, and we are especially grateful to the staff member in charge of dinner for taking such good care of us—thank you very much. We can recommend this Accommodation for relaxing and enjoying Onsen as well as great meals. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Luxurious Time at a Wonderful Onsen

I stayed for one night on a weekend in February. I was in the detached Room “Shusui.” The points below made it an excellent stay, and I was very satisfied. I definitely want to visit again. All of the staff were wonderful. Their hospitality really came through, and everyone greeted us whenever we passed them in the Ryokan (that level of consistency is rare at other Ryokan). The warm welcome from the parking area to the entrance, and the send-off at departure, were also outstanding. The food was delicious. It was great to dine in a spacious private room. There were plenty of enjoyable choices as well—such as selecting options for the main dish at dinner and accompaniments for breakfast rice. The baths were fantastic. The free-flowing Onsen bath in the Room was spacious, and I enjoyed it again and again—it felt truly luxurious. Both the Room and the entire property were very clean, and fresh flowers were displayed throughout, which made my stay feel special. I also loved the handwritten welcome letter and the easy-to-understand hand-drawn map of the property (in a file in the Room). I even took a photo of it so I’ll know where my next Room is! The only point that stood out was part of the women’s bath Facility in the evening. The wall separating it from outside didn’t seem well maintained and looked a bit worn (it isn’t noticeable at night), but during daylight hours it felt slightly disappointing. The bath itself is clean and the water is excellent—so it felt like a shame that this one detail detracted from an otherwise wonderful experience.

    Room is...

Soundproofing is inadequate, the door lock feels cheap, and staff may open the door without permission when delivering items from the front desk. The meals looked good, but overall they were too salty. The entrance was lovely, but at this price I would probably choose another Accommodation.

    Late-night soba noodles

Late-night soba (Yonaki Soba) is available, a service offered by the Kyoritsu Group. As the building is old, some Rooms may be difficult for elderly guests. The atmosphere is pleasant.

A very quiet and serene Ryokan, providing a comfortable space for us. Dinner was served in the Room, where we enjoyed a carefully prepared kaiseki meal at our own pace. The best part was the private open-air bath in the Room with sunlight streaming through the trees. It was perfect on such a warm day!

The meals and service were excellent!

The day before our stay, we happened to see this accommodation featured on a TV program as a "place with delicious cuisine," so we had high expectations—and they were met! The food was incredibly delicious. The variety of dishes served in small portions was perfect, especially for women. We also enjoyed being able to choose some items from the kaiseki menu on the spot. From the warm welcome at the parking lot to providing shuttle service up a steep slope to the entrance, every detail showed their hospitality. The staff greeted and saw us off with heartfelt smiles and engaged in pleasant conversations during meal service. Even the young staff members were full of hospitality. Recently, many luxury ryokans require guests to bring bath towels from their rooms to public baths, but here, towels are provided in the large communal bath area—a thoughtful touch for those who bathe multiple times. Our room's semi-open-air bath was comfortable, though I was slightly concerned about privacy despite having bamboo blinds as coverings. The large communal baths alternate between morning and evening; while one smaller open-air bath offered no view except autumn leaves overhead, the larger one provided a partial view of distant mountains—very enjoyable. In addition to bottled water in our room, there was complimentary bottled beer (or juice alternatives), changing drink options at the post-bath lounge both morning and evening, and even late-night ramen service—all unique touches typical of Kyoritsu Resort properties. If I had any minor complaints: moving between annex buildings via an outdoor corridor felt cold during wintertime; there were also several steps along this path which made it challenging for someone like me with mobility issues—I’ll consider booking an annex room next time instead! Additionally regarding souvenirs available onsite—they mostly lacked general Ito specialties but offered limited snack-like items suitable alongside alcohol instead. Overall though—it proved exceptionally relaxing & satisfying throughout my stay here! I'd love returning again someday under different seasonal settings too!

The best accommodation for a relaxing stay

The onsen has a water quality that warms the body and feels wonderful. This was my second stay, and the meals were incredibly delicious, especially the sake hot pot, which is a must-try. The rice porridge afterward is exceptional—many thanks to the head chef. Next time, I’d like to bring my parents along. It’s an excellent accommodation for enjoying quiet and mature moments.

    A cozy and relaxing Ryokan.

We have previously stayed at renovated Ryokans by Kyoritsu Resort, and although this was our first time here, we had no concerns. The staff provided attentive and polite service. The room with a semi-open-air Onsen bath was excellent; however, during the late night (possibly due to timing), the shower did not produce hot water despite waiting for quite some time. The meals were well-portioned and just right. However, I felt that the fluorescent lighting in the room was not suitable for dining or relaxing. Warm-toned lighting would create a more comfortable atmosphere. Regarding the pick-up car schedule from Ito Station, many guests coming from Tokyo likely use the Odoriko train. With a 2:30 PM pick-up time, it does not align well with the 1:44 PM arrival of one train or even with another arriving at 2:41 PM for a 3:30 PM pick-up slot. A 3:00 PM pick-up option would be more convenient for guests arriving by these trains.

    The bath was excellent.

The bath was excellent—clean, with natural hot spring water flowing directly, making it irresistible to bathe multiple times. It left my skin smooth and I was very satisfied. The breakfast was also delicious. Although there were cushions available, which helped, the tatami floor was a bit tough for me as I had a knee issue. Other than that, the service was attentive and I had a relaxing stay.

    Unfortunately

About four months ago, we made separate Reservations through IKYU for a trip with my sister's family and ours (separate villa, twin room, with open-air Onsen bath, at the same price). Upon arrival on the day of our stay, we were greeted by staff and served matcha tea. We were excited about our first day at this establishment. The staff mentioned they would guide both families together and first took us to the "Umi" Room. Next, we were shown to the "Tsuki" Room. Since both Reservations had been made under the same conditions, we expected similar Rooms. However, upon seeing the Tsuki Room, though we didn’t say it out loud, we were very surprised. It seemed that the staff wanted to showcase different types of Rooms; however, for us, it was quite disappointing. The Umi Room was small with no view from either the Room or its open-air Onsen bath. Additionally, from inside the Onsen bath area in Umi’s room you could see a hallway window which made it difficult to relax. While details about each Room’s size were listed on their website beforehand—there wasn’t any mention regarding views being absent or poor quality—and yet pricing remained identical between these two options! If there had been clear comments indicating “no view,” I wouldn’t have chosen such accommodations during booking. Our goal during this trip was relaxation: enjoying delicious meals alongside soothing Onsens while unwinding equally within comfortable Rooms—but instead spent much time keeping blinds closed throughout due lackluster surroundings outside plus discomfort caused by visible hallway windows near outdoor baths like those found within ‘Umi.’ Given how starkly different experiences turned out despite identical pricing structures—it felt unfair overall; even slight differences reflected via adjusted costs might’ve helped justify things better emotionally here too! (As an additional note/request: having two keys per booked accommodation unit would also prove helpful moving forward.) Having used IKYU.com services consistently over ten years now without prior issues—this marked one rare instance leaving behind lingering disappointment despite otherwise excellent service provided across dining offerings & general hospitality measures alike!

    I had a relaxing time.

I often use Kyoritsu Resort, but this time was the most relaxing. The public bath is not very large, but both times I used it, it was private. I enjoyed the sauna, outdoor air bath, and Onsen for an hour, which refreshed both my body and mind. The Room's hinoki bathtub did not have Kyoritsu's usual button system and could be used anytime, which was very convenient. Meals were served in a private room for both breakfast and dinner with delicious dishes. Thank you for the detailed explanations of the cuisine.

A satisfaction that makes you want to give 6 stars.

Exceptional satisfaction for an accommodation at this price level. The staff's hospitality, the delicious and seasonal cuisine were top-notch. Highly recommend the "Izu Seafood Hot Pot," which highlights the rich flavor of dashi broth. With natural hot spring water flowing directly, each room has a spacious bath, along with an outstanding large public bath. The luxurious use of hot spring water is remarkable. It was a serene stay in an accommodation that creates its own unique world view. Honestly, I’d rather keep this place a secret from foreign visitors! Although you cannot park your car directly at the entrance, staff will carry your luggage from the parking lot without any inconvenience. We’ve stayed at other reasonably priced accommodations by Kyoritsu Resort before, but this one is truly exceptional!

    Highly satisfying Stays

At the end of the New Year, I was able to fully enjoy the onsen at a leisurely pace. Thank you very much. Since the onset of COVID-19, my spouse and I have been visiting Izu Hakone almost every month, searching for properties with rooms that have open-air baths, and we have stayed at about 50 places over the past four years. Yoneya-san is among the most satisfying, and I believe it definitely ranks in the top 10. We stayed in a separate building, and I was surprised at how clean it was, as if it had been newly renovated. We have stayed at several famous long-established ryokans, but the woodwork and baths often show dirt and age, whereas Yoneya-san's room was simply amazing, with no sense of age at all. Despite having 17 rooms, the fact that there are two large baths in addition to the room's open-air bath is a high score (many ryokans with room open-air baths do not have large baths). Also, many of the staff are young, and their brisk responses and attentiveness are very pleasant. I have allergies, but I was delighted to be provided with carefully prepared meals using alternative ingredients. The meals were just right, carefully made, and all delicious. Although it is at a 5-point level, I deliberately gave it 4 points with expectations. This is because I hope they will develop a signature dish that can only be enjoyed at Yoneya-san. When you think of Yoneya, you want something like "this dish!"—a greedy request. It was a delightful start to the new year to find a calm, adult property that makes me think it would be nice to revisit. Thank you for your hospitality.

It was better than I imagined!

I used the property for a solo trip. I felt that the customer service was better than I imagined. Meals were served in the room for dinner and in a completely private room for breakfast, with creative dishes. The breakfast location was a completely private room, very quiet and relaxing. Check-in was a bit face-to-face at the counter while enjoying matcha and Japanese sweets, and I was also shown to my room. I don't prefer much interaction, so I chose a room with meals served in-room or in a private room with an open-air bath, but initially, I was concerned about the involvement of the staff. From the perspective of those who wish for such customer service and guidance to the room, it is courteous. Although it was a semi-open-air bath, I could adjust the water temperature to my liking by adding water, which was calming. I used the Gora of the same hotel chain, but I felt a surprising difference in the way it was operated. The property I stayed at this time did not have the business-like response of the chain hotel. On the way back, I was seen off outside the entrance, and on the way there, the shuttle service was parked in a parking lot near the property from Minami-Ito, and the driver kindly called out to me as I was walking, and the thoughtfulness of notifying my arrival by radio was excellent.

    Appreciate the thoughtfulness.

We stayed with my 88-year-old mother-in-law and my husband. The staff were pleasant, the food was very delicious, and we were very satisfied with the hot springs. We are grateful for the thoughtful gesture of noticing my mother-in-law's age and taking a commemorative photo for her 88th birthday (with a yellow hat and vest). However, there was one issue. While resting at night, I felt something touch my arm, and for the first time, I was crawled on by a centipede, which caused a big commotion. My husband was surprised by my fuss, but he managed to deal with it using the insect-catching set provided. Since there was little insecticide left, we were able to handle it with tissues and tongs. I'm sorry, but I'm not good with bugs, so please check for centipedes.
