    I was able to relax ...

    I was able to relax and unwind. The building seems to have been built during Japan’s bubble era and is a bit dated, but the high ceilings and spacious washroom made it very comfortable to use, and the paintings and interior decor throughout the Accommodation were lovely. The meals were also delicious. I had walked around the area before but never noticed it. I’m glad I found such a great Accommodation.

    It seemed the Room a...

    It seemed the Room above us had children, and we constantly heard loud running footsteps from evening until around 8:00 p.m., and again from 5:30 a.m. in the morning. I couldn’t relax, was woken up early, and wasn’t able to unwind. Even after telling the Hotel staff, they only apologized and nothing improved. It was disappointing—there doesn’t seem to be adequate soundproofing. There were no amenities at the front desk such as facial lotion, hair ties, or hairbrushes.

    Great location and very clean.

    Perfectly located for sightseeing in Arashiyama, this is a quiet and relaxing Accommodation. The meals were delicious, and everyone on our girls’ trip was very happy.

    It was an excellent accommodation.

    I was extremely satisfied with everything—location, service, views, and price—and had a very pleasant stay. I was able to fully enjoy the quiet, traditional atmosphere of Arashiyama. There were no Japanese-style rooms available so I didn’t have high expectations, but the garden view from the Western-style room was beautiful, and my elderly parents were delighted. I requested a lighter dinner portion and it was just right—well thought out and delicious. Breakfast felt a little modest, but considering the price it was more than sufficient. I would love to stay here again next time. Thank you very much.

    On a previous stay, ...

    On a previous stay, we were served delicate Japanese cuisine and this was one of our favorite Accommodations, but we were disappointed with the meals this time. The breakfast buffet in particular was surprisingly disappointing. The staff were very pleasant and provided comfortable service, which made it all the more unfortunate. It was also difficult because the showers in the large public bath took a long time to produce hot water, and the toilet in our Room did not flush well.

    I stayed here to attend an event in Arashiyama. The reception staff and other staff members were kind and very pleasant! The lobby was calm, the Room was spacious, and there was a large public bath, which made my stay satisfying! Thank you very much.

    We believe breakfast could be improved by offering grilled fish instead of hot tofu. The rice was very delicious, but the lack of grilled fish made the breakfast feel incomplete.

    Great location

    I made a Reservation to stroll through the famous autumn foliage spots during the day and relax afterward. The location is excellent, allowing me to fully enjoy autumn in Arashiyama. The autumn leaves in the Hotel's courtyard were beautiful, making me feel fortunate. The restaurant could use a bit more creativity, but it matches the price point.

    Quietly nestled in a convenient location in Arashiyama.

    A long-awaited visit to Arashiyama allowed for a relaxing stay at this authentic Japanese Ryokan, located across from Hogonin Temple and near the river. While not overly extravagant, it provided a serene atmosphere. The meals were well-prepared, and the staff offered calm and reassuring hospitality. I would love to stay here again.

    A quiet, hidden retreat

    Tucked just a short walk away from the crowds, this Accommodation felt wonderfully comfortable—attentive without being intrusive, with reliable service that reflects the best traditions of classic inns. The meals were delicious and not overly large, which was perfect for me. (My younger companion found them a bit light.) I’d like to visit the Fukuda Art Museum nearby again, so I hope to stay here again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    Thank you for taking care of my wife during her stay. She mentioned that not only was the food excellent, but the staff were also very pleasant. She was especially grateful to the person who guided her to the Room and expressed her heartfelt thanks. We look forward to staying again if we have the opportunity.

    With dinner included next time

    Due to an event visit, the dinner time did not fit our schedule, but we were accommodated by changing the Reservation. Breakfast was perfectly timed and delicious. The Room was spacious enough, allowing us to enjoy a Kyoto-like morning with a view of the mountains. It would have been perfect if the large bath had been an Onsen.

    Stayed at the Hotel and had my passport copied.

    I have stayed at hotels multiple times, but this is the first Hotel that asked to make a copy of my passport. They requested it without any reason or explanation. I would like an explanation and to know the reason why.

    Close to everything!

    Come earlier next time! We planned to visit Arashiyama, but the accommodation was so comfortable that we found it hard to leave. The bath was relaxing, and the meals were delicious! We had a very restful stay. We would love to stay here again!

    Done—this will be my regular Accommodation.

    This was a repeat stay for the Sagano Scenic Railway and the Hozugawa River Boat Ride. As before, the Ryokan is next to the Katsura River and directly in front of Hogon-in Temple, allowing us to stay in a very quiet setting. What was especially great this time was that the Accommodation was about a 2-minute walk from the Hozugawa River Boat Ride landing point, and we could easily take a stroll around nearby Arashiyama Park during the cooler hours. Needless to say, the excellent hospitality of all the staff and the delicious meals were outstanding as well.

    Smoking Rooms

    There is a smoking room on the way from the first-floor lobby to the room, which was an issue for me as a non-smoker. The hallway near the smoking room had a strong smell of tobacco, and since my room was the third one from it, even inside my room smelled of tobacco. If you are sensitive to tobacco smell, it is recommended to inform during the Reservation that "rooms near the smoking area are not preferred."

    Affordable and Charming Accommodation in Arashiyama

    Located in the bustling Arashiyama area, the property offers a convenient location with spacious Rooms in a quiet and relaxing environment. While Arashiyama is extremely crowded during the day, most shops close early in the evening, and there are few dining options available. Therefore, we opted for a Plan that included dinner. The wagyu beef hot plate for dinner and dashi chazuke for breakfast were both incredibly delicious. The large public bath was also a great feature. If I may suggest one improvement, it would be nice if the elevator connected directly to the basement floor where the public bath is located.

    Great location with excellent value for money.

    Just a short walk from Arashiyama's Togetsukyo Bridge. Despite the rising accommodation costs in Kyoto, this single room with two meals per night is incredibly affordable and offers excellent value for money. While there are some drawbacks, such as shared heating and cooling systems that cannot be individually adjusted, broken lockers in the large communal bath, and no security box in the room, the warm hospitality of the staff more than makes up for it. During my stay, cherry blossoms were in full bloom, visible both from the dining area and my room—an unforgettable experience. Although meal portions were on the smaller side, it was perfect after enjoying treats at nearby stylish cafes. I look forward to visiting again during a different season!

    The best location, o...

    The best location, overlooking the Katsura River and just a short walk from Togetsukyo Bridge, with the Fukuda Art Museum only a few doors away. Exit through the back gate and you'll find Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan right in front of you. Avoid the crowds on your leisurely stroll to Tenryu-ji Temple. The interior is clean and serene. Meals are simple yet sufficient. The courtyard is also beautiful, offering a pleasant atmosphere without being overly extravagant.

    This is Kyoto.

    It was a quiet and calm Room with a view of the garden on the first floor. At dusk, when the number of tourists decreased, I walked around Tenryuji Temple and along the Katsura River. This is a wonderful guest pavilion with a location that truly embodies the charm of Kyoto.

    The view from the Room is wonderful.

    It was my first stay, but the location and the view from the room were wonderful. Also, the meal content was good, and the quantity was just right. However, the bath water temperature was low (especially in the women's bath) to the point where I almost caught a cold. Please improve this. Lastly, the plan this time included a free drink during dinner, but I was charged for it. Please ensure this does not happen in the future. 以上

    We were late for che...

    We were late for check-in, but they accommodated us kindly. It was unfortunate that there was no open-air bath. Regarding the special dinner, when we asked for additional sukiyaki sauce, it was disappointing that the way they commented on how to add and use the vegetables was a bit unpleasant. Other than that, it was highly rated.

    Since it was the end of the year, I used the two-meal plan. However, this time I regretted choosing a meal plan at this hotel. The meal was at the restaurant, but even at the reservation time, we were not allowed in, and guests waited in line at the entrance for 20 minutes... It was cold because the entrance was next to an outdoor passage where employees were constantly coming and going with food supplies, leaving the door open. I was lightly dressed, thinking I would be let in immediately, and never expected to wait 20 minutes in the hallway. I've stayed at various ryokans before, but this was the first time I had to wait so long for a dinner with a specified time. I thought maybe the previous guests were still inside and the turnover wasn't going smoothly, but that didn't seem to be the case. Other guests were also like, "Huh?" After a 20-minute delay, when the guidance finally began, a person who seemed to be in charge started calling names one by one and guiding guests in order, which took more time. Why didn't they divide the task among several people instead of just one? I understand there might be procedures, but after making us wait so long, there was no consideration. If three people did it, it would be over in a third of the time. Finally, we were seated, and I thought we would be able to order drinks immediately, but no one came. After waiting another 10 minutes, the first dish was suddenly placed in front of us. I had a sake tasting plan, but they didn't seem to notice. When I mentioned it, they were like, "Oh," and hurried to the kitchen, even though I was trying to order other drinks. I had to call another employee because we couldn't order tea, water, or drinks. The drinks finally arrived 5 minutes after the first dish. By this point, I had no expectations for the food and just wanted to return to my room. Why was the service so inefficient and time-consuming? I counted the groups of guests waiting with me, about 11 groups, and I couldn't understand why so many employees couldn't handle this number. As expected, the meal was completely disappointing, and the final rice was dry, like "kome"? The next morning, I was afraid I might have to wait another 30 minutes for breakfast, so I didn't go. Thanks to that, I enjoyed a delicious morning at the Fukuda Art Museum, which made up for the unpleasantness of the previous night. It became a memorable stay in a different way.

    A Ryokan You’ll Want to Make Your Regular Stay

    A great perk for guests arriving by car is that, if spaces are available, you can park from any time on the day of your stay, and you can also keep your car parked until 12:00 after check-out the next day while you go sightseeing—an exceptionally rare service. Above all, the Ryokan is right next to the Katsura River and directly in front of Hogon-in Temple, offering a very quiet setting. The staff’s hospitality was excellent, and with delicious meals and a large public bath, we had a very comfortable stay.

    I thought everything had failed.

    Arrive at the front desk. No nod, and certainly no smile. Enter the room. Musty smell. Shower in the room's bath. When set to a comfortable temperature, the water only drips from the showerhead. This can't be called a "shower." Pull yourself together and head to the large bath. After the bath, grab a hairdryer to dry your hair. There are three hairdryers. Two chairs. Return to the room with wet hair. The room is hot. The air conditioner is an old type. Can't adjust the temperature in the room. Even on "high," it's hot. No point in washing off sweat in the bath!! The surprise comes next. Breakfast. On the table, a small two-tiered box. Miso soup One small bowl and a damp pack of seasoned seaweed Headed to the buffet-style table and was shocked!! On the table, pickles and onsen (hot spring) eggs (cold) Oh, there was yogurt. Opened the two-tiered box and was surprised!! On one tier, a 5cm slice of mackerel (cold) Pickles in a small bowl next to it Second tier, dried daikon radish Simmered hijiki seaweed The only warm items are miso soup and rice. Everything seems pre-made, a breakfast lacking "love." Encountering this loveless breakfast made me realize how important breakfast is. Left the property in the morning, but felt no energy. A property resting on its location. Everyone, be careful. Where the emergency ladder should have been installed, there was no ladder. At least my companion and I couldn't find it.

    The Room was spacious, and the meals were very delicious. The front desk staff were kind, and I was very impressed that they held onto my luggage even after checkout. The only disappointment was that I ordered dinner at 7:30 PM, but around 9 PM, while I was still eating, they brought dessert and started preparing for the next morning. The meal was exceptionally delicious, but the staff's attitude left a bad impression, which was unfortunate. If I had been sitting for over two hours, it might have been understandable, but it had only been an hour and a half, and I felt an unspoken pressure to leave early. I think it would be better to refrain from preparing for the next day while guests are still dining.

    Ranzan Reuse

    I used this hotel once before and this is my second stay. There were few overseas guests at the hotel, so I was grateful to be able to spend my time quietly without the hustle and bustle of the city. However, compared to the past, it was disappointing that the quality of the dinner had declined significantly. The staff during meal times might not be accustomed to timing. The large public bath was clean and usable. I was looking forward to revisiting as it is close to Togetsukyo Bridge, so it was disappointing. The access to the museum was also good.
