Although the weather was disappointing, the meals and warm hospitality made this Accommodation truly memorable.
We stayed during a period of strong wind and rain that had continued since the previous day. As this is a traditional Onsen Accommodation in the mountains, unfortunately we couldn’t fully enjoy the overall atmosphere in such heavy rain. Even during our stay, the weather meant we could hardly enjoy the view from our Room. On the other hand, the guest Room was more spacious than expected, nicely renovated, and very clean, so we were able to relax comfortably. The rest of the building feels generally aged. The Onsen also has an old-fashioned charm. We tried their well-known mixed-gender open-air bath as well, but the weather that day was truly storm-like. Using an open-air bath in wind and rain was quite challenging, and unfortunately it wasn’t a situation where we could appreciate its real appeal. This isn’t the Accommodation’s fault at all—I would love to try it again on a clear day. What stood out as excellent was the food. The dishes made good use of local ingredients and were thoughtfully prepared to bring out each ingredient’s natural flavor rather than relying on heavy seasoning, so we enjoyed every course. It wasn’t about showcasing flashy luxury items; instead, you could really feel the chef’s philosophy behind each dish. We were satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. As for service, there were many foreign attendants, and there were moments when detailed communication in Japanese was difficult. Still, their sincere efforts left a very positive impression. At checkout, both the proprietress and her successor greeted us politely. This kind of traditional Ryokan hospitality was delightful and left us with a great final impression. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t blessed with good weather this time and couldn’t fully experience what this Accommodation truly offers. The age of the building and Onsen may be a matter of preference, but the meals and warm hospitality are real highlights. If I have another chance to visit, I’d like to come on a sunny day to enjoy both the mountain scenery and the open-air bath properly.

A quiet Accommodation with free-flowing Onsen hot spring water direct from the source
Our family of three stayed here. The guest room with an open-air bath had an amazing view of the trees through the window. The meals were delicious, and we loved the post-bath ice pops, late-night inari sushi, morning coffee service, board games, and the excellent loan services such as a rotating hair dryer and a NanoCare hair dryer. It was relaxing and quiet, and we were able to unwind from everyday fatigue. The Onsen water was also wonderful. Highly recommended Accommodation.

Everything was absolutely wonderful.
On this trip, I had some time to stop by Minakami while traveling for work. Since Minakami Sanso, where I used to stay often, does not accept solo guests, I had the chance to stay at Kanemori-kan instead. It turned out to be absolutely the right choice! It’s not a new Accommodation, but everything was spotless throughout the building and felt very pleasant. Fresh flowers were arranged not only in the shared areas but also in my Room and even in the restrooms—such a delight. As others have commented, the meals were excellent. Above all, you could truly feel the chef’s dedication to carefully selected ingredients and bringing out the best flavors of each season. As for the Onsen, it’s hard to put into words... These days many Onsen Accommodations use “free-flowing” too casually, but this place is genuine. If you truly love hot springs, I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. I also appreciated that they set women-only hours for the mixed-gender open-air bath. One disappointing point was another guest’s behavior. We had dinner in a private dining space separated by accordion curtains, but two male guests next door were very loud. It would have been fine if they were having an enjoyable conversation, but instead we had to listen endlessly to their complaints and their bossy tone toward staff (I really felt sorry for those serving them), which took away from how delicious dinner was... The next morning I chose one of the latest breakfast time slots and was able to minimize exposure to their conversation. With the window open and listening to the river stream outside, I enjoyed a quiet and refreshing breakfast. Since older guests tend to wake up early, choosing a late breakfast worked perfectly. Given Facility limitations, soundproofing must be difficult. In spaces divided only by partitions like this, conversations carry easily—so it may be helpful to inform guests in advance about this point (as a gentle reminder). Also, at checkout a staff member recommended a walking course to Ichinokurasawa, which I really enjoyed. The weather was great and I had a wonderful time there. Thank you for your advice. If I have time again, I would love to stop by once more. Thank you very much.

Four friends
Even in summer it was cool, so we enjoyed plenty of baths. I’ve stayed here several times, and as a long-established inn it feels relaxing, with a consistently reliable charm. It was spacious enough for four people. There’s also a paid karaoke room with a nostalgic Showa-era vibe, which was a perfect fit for our generation and great fun.

Thank you for your support.
Both the meals and the Onsen were excellent. We were able to enjoy both the large public bath and Seseragi-no-Yu privately. From the open-air bath in our Room, looking up we saw green mountains; looking down, we could see the river flowing through fresh greenery. The location is outstanding. We were also happy to have chawanmushi at breakfast. We could even eat the overnight-dried ayu whole, including the head. The kenchin-jiru at dinner and the hearty, piping-hot miso soup at breakfast were delicious as well. The meals, Onsen, and Room all perfectly matched my spouse’s and my preferences, and it quickly became an Accommodation we want to revisit soon. They kindly changed us to a late check-out, so we could truly relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

Natural free-flowing Onsen (100% source-fed)
The Onsen, generously supplied with abundant water from the valley and continuously fed by natural hot spring water, provided the ultimate time of relaxation. The meals were delicious, and the staff served us with great care. The Room had been renovated and was spacious. It was also nice that the facilities were not crowded. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again.

This is the kind of accommodation I’m looking for!
This was my first stay. Even though the room had an open-air bath, the price was reasonable, so I came thinking it would be enough if I could soak in the free-flowing Onsen and maybe see some snow. But it exceeded all expectations! It’s a small, cozy Accommodation with a lovely handmade feel, warm and simple hospitality, free-flowing Onsen straight from the source that you can even drink, flowers beautifully arranged throughout the building, and meals that were far better than expected! I was also impressed by the selection of alcoholic drinks. You can feel thoughtful attention to detail everywhere—this is exactly the kind of Accommodation I love! I absolutely adored it. I’m definitely coming back right away! The only disappointment this time was that there wasn’t any snow, but I’d love to return again during the fresh greenery season and autumn foliage as well. Thank you so much for taking such great care of me.

The Onsen was fed directly from the source and offered two different temperatures. When it felt a bit chilly, I could soak in the hotter bath, and once warmed up, switch to the lukewarm bath—alternating like that, I could have stayed in forever. No one else came in the whole time, so it felt like a private bath experience and was amazing. Dinner was also delicious. It was char (maybe ayu? I forgot), but it was very juicy and tasty. I was surprised at how good the river fish tasted. The steak was delicious too, but although it had been scored, I still couldn’t bite through it and ended up swallowing pieces whole. Next time, I’d like it served properly cut rather than just scored—or I’d appreciate having a knife provided. Also, regarding the serving staff member (a foreigner): their voice was quiet and they spoke quickly, so I often couldn’t catch what they said and had to ask repeatedly. Even then, they didn’t slow down or speak louder, so partway through I stopped asking for clarification. The smile was nice, but as other Reviews mention as well, once a guest asks again, it would be better if they responded accordingly (e.g., speaking louder). Also, I’d like morning coffee to be available from 7:00 instead of 8:00. Since staff aren’t brewing it individually anyway, please make it available from 7:00. It would be even better if there were paper cups so we could take coffee back to the Room.

The Room was very comfortable, but the heating was not very strong. The bath and changing area are not very large, so it may feel crowded depending on the time. The hot water was excellent. The meals were delicious—like elevated country-style home cooking in a good way. What concerned me was that there were someone’s socks left on the floor in the dining area (private room), and no one from the Accommodation was there when we arrived, so we had to wait for a while. In particular, the dining area (perhaps it used to be a guest Room) did not feel very clean, so I felt that a larger shared dining hall might have been fine instead of a private room. Overall, we enjoyed both the Onsen and the fireplace in our Room, and it was a pleasant stay.

Onsen with Snowy Scenery
We stayed here for our first trip as three generations traveling together. The meals, the Onsen, and the scenery—everything was truly perfect. It was my first time experiencing river fish this delicious. They even served freshly fried dishes to each person one by one, so we could enjoy everything hot and at its best. The Onsen was also outstanding. Perhaps because of the number of Rooms, no matter what time we went we didn’t run into anyone, and we were able to relax at our own pace in a private setting while enjoying glimpses of the snowy landscape. They also lent us sleds and snowball-making tools for free, and the children were thrilled with their first time playing in the snow—and even shoveling snow. This is a wonderful Accommodation where you can fully enjoy the snowy scenery. Next time I’ll visit again with my colleagues. Thank you very much.

It was my first visit in a while.
I remembered how much I enjoyed my previous stay, so I came back—and it was wonderful again! All the staff were friendly, the food was delicious, it was quiet, and the private family bath was always available whenever I went, so I fully enjoyed my solo trip. I’d love to return again when I’m completely worn out. Thank you for taking such good care of me!

We stayed here for t...
We stayed here for the first time during the November holiday weekend, just my husband and me. We were worried about snow, but there was no impact around the Accommodation, and we could still enjoy beautiful autumn leaves on the way. First, we used the private family bath. My husband had hurt his foot and couldn’t go to the public bath, so it was a huge help that we could use it anytime as long as it was available. From our Room window we could see the river below, and it was so relaxing to listen to the sound of the water. The decorations inside the Accommodation were very cute and made us feel a bit of Christmas spirit. The handmade information guides in our Room were lovely, and when we got into the elevator, there were up-to-date helpful details such as local information around the Accommodation and even temperatures through tomorrow—amazing! For dinner, they kindly changed ingredients for foods we don’t like, so we were able to eat a lot. We couldn’t finish dessert, but they happily brought it to our Room for us, which we really appreciated. This is an Accommodation with truly wonderful thoughtfulness and service from all staff members. When we got into our car to leave, there was a message card and gum waiting for us—it made us happy until the very end. We have stayed at many Accommodations, but this one had by far the most considerate hospitality. Thank you very much.

I stayed with my relatives, including parents in their 80s. From the phone support before our stay to the shuttle service, room, onsen, meals, facility, and staff members—everything was filled with hospitality and left us deeply impressed. As its name suggests, the soothing sound of the stream by the river complemented the wonderful open-air bath. It has become an accommodation I definitely want to visit again. Thank you very much!

Thoughtful Accommodation
The thoughtfulness of the accommodation was felt throughout. Rather than a polished service in a good way, it felt like they were doing their very best with what they could. The handwritten signs at the elevator and dining area, which could easily come across as cheap if not done right, instead gave a sense of warmth and familiarity. The meals used carefully selected local ingredients, and everything was delicious. Even the small side dishes served as palate cleansers were delightful. After dinner, when we returned to our room, we found inari sushi prepared for a late-night snack along with a thoughtful note. I would love to stay here again!

Wonderful Accommodation
I booked a room with an open-air bath as a gift for my parents. The hospitality was excellent, and they were able to enjoy the riverside bath that was unavailable during the previous typhoon. The serene riverside setting and the beginning of autumn foliage allowed for a truly relaxing time.

The First View of Tanigawa
As a senior couple accustomed to living with chairs and beds, we usually choose accommodations with onsen open-air baths that include both chairs and beds to avoid strain on our legs and back. Although this accommodation did not have rooms meeting those conditions, we were intrigued by the reviews and decided to stay for the first time. While the room naturally did not have a bed, there was an easy chair for enjoying the view. We adjusted it to face the TV, making our stay more comfortable. As mentioned in reviews, the late-night inari sushi was delicious. Thoughtful touches such as providing a flashlight by the bedside when futons were laid out, toothbrush holders at the sink, and handwritten notes throughout made us feel well cared for. However, we would appreciate if a small hand bucket could be provided for pouring water over oneself before entering the open-air bath in the room. Since this onsen allows drinking its waters, we asked one of the foreign staff during dinner if they could bring some in a teacup. Unfortunately, they didn’t understand our request fully so we couldn’t try drinking it. Nevertheless, their earnest explanation of meal details left us with a positive impression. In this area are accommodations offering views of Mount Tanigawa from rooms; while we've seen Mount Tanigawa several times before, it was our first time seeing Tanigawa River. The clear stream visible through trees along with its gentle murmuring created quite an atmospheric experience. Lastly, I’d like to note that since both cleanliness of rooms and quality of water in open-air baths were excellent here—those who prefer Japanese-style rooms would likely find great satisfaction staying at this accommodation.

I would love to visit every year.
We stayed as a family of four. This is such a wonderful Ryokan, yet it feels unpretentious, and everyone was friendly, kind, and warm. The Onsen water quality was very gentle and comfortable; we could soak multiple times without feeling overwhelmed. The room was spacious and comfortable. The private bath in the room was so relaxing that we used it several times! Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious with mild seasoning, making it easy to finish everything—something we usually can't do at other Ryokans! The summer vegetable jelly appetizer was especially amazing! Even our daughter, who isn't fond of adult dishes, loved the simmered vegetables and morning chawanmushi. Unfortunately, due to our scheduling mistake in the morning, we couldn't enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace. However, even with only 30 minutes available for breakfast time, our high school son managed to finish everything! (laughs) We were truly satisfied—our entire family was delighted. The late-night Inari sushi you prepared for us was also very tasty; my son kept opening the empty container repeatedly because he wanted more! (laughs) This might be the most wonderful accommodation we've ever experienced. Although next year will be without our son joining us, this place is so lovely that we'd love to visit every year if possible!

Enjoy a late-spring getaway
It was wonderful to soak in the hot spring at your Accommodation again after a long time and enjoy delicious food. Thank you very much. On the way home, we drove as far as Uonuma (just under an hour by car). We enjoyed the carvings at Kaisando Temple and were also delighted by the beautiful combination of snow and cherry blossoms.

The scenery and Onsen are excellent!
Suddenly thinking "Let's go see the autumn leaves," I searched for the properties I had stayed at before, but none were available. So, I stayed at a property that had always caught my attention on the way. The location and the onsen were exactly as my spouse and I had imagined, and it was excellent. The meals were also well thought out and very good. As for customer service and hospitality, compared to traditional inns, there might be some differences, but there was no discomfort or inconvenience. Considering the price (affordable), we were very satisfied and would like to visit again at the change of seasons.

Relaxing Stays
We used a Japanese-Western style room for a 1-night, 2-day autumn leaves trip with my elderly mother and siblings. The itinerary was to visit Fukiware Falls in Numata on the first day, stay overnight, and then take the Tanigawadake Ropeway to Tenjindaira on the second day. We used this property four years ago, and this was our second visit. The atmosphere of the property gives a warm feeling that makes you want to say "I'm home." While the building shows some signs of age, the room is clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and pleasant stay. The apple gratin, which has been served for 30 years, was delicious, with the sweetness of the gratin and apple blending perfectly. We also enjoyed the open-air bath Seseragi no Yu, which we couldn't use last time due to a typhoon. The water temperature was just right, possibly due to a sudden cold wave, allowing us to soak for a long time. I would like to use this property again when visiting the Tanigawadake area. The photo shows the early morning view of Seseragi no Yu from the room.

It was a property with many staff members who have good personalities.
I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay, and the meals were varied and each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. The bath had good spring quality, and the open-air bath was spacious and pleasant. However, there were few users late at night, and I thought it would be more convenient if the private bath time could be moved earlier. All the staff were kind and polite, and the person who seemed to be the landlady was also a refined person. It was a Ryokan suitable for relaxing.

The food is delicious, but it doesn't seem worth the price.
I had plans to go to the Tanigawa area, so I hurriedly searched and made a reservation. It was a decent amount of 45,000 yen for two people, and I had high expectations because of the good reviews on IKYU... Everything except the food was disappointing. It seemed like the service couldn't keep up, possibly due to a lack of staff. When I asked about sake, they said they weren't knowledgeable. The person who served us during the meal was a foreigner, and while they were friendly, the explanations were lacking. The food was carefully prepared and very satisfying. It's a shame that the food is so delicious, but the operation could be improved. I thought it would be better to have a more solid operation. I was looking forward to the onsen, which was said to be a natural hot spring, but I was told that the hot water is supplied from tanks filled with spring water from four different sources. (I asked the landlady the next day) When I asked the foreign staff about the bath, they said they didn't understand Japanese, leaving me feeling uneasy during the bath. I was happy with the late-night snacks like inari sushi and pudding, but the service was quite disappointing. I understand the lack of staff, but since they charge a decent amount, I think staff training should be properly conducted.
