It was a private space.
In-room dining and a private open-air bath in the Room made it a completely private space. The meals were also delicious. It was an Accommodation where families with small children could relax and enjoy themselves without worrying about others. Since it was difficult to apply makeup, I think it would be helpful to have a handheld mirror.

Perfect for long, relaxing baths.
I stayed in Izu Kogen on a trip last year as well, but this time I was able to enjoy the open-air bath without worrying that people might be watching from outside. However, perhaps due to the design choice, the bath was made with small granular stones, and it hurt to sit on them, so I couldn’t soak for long. The deck chairs also hurt when sitting directly on them, so they weren’t very relaxing. The meals were delicious.

Both dinner and brea...
Both dinner and breakfast were high quality, and because the meals were served in the Room, I was able to relax and enjoy them without worrying about others. The ankake served at breakfast was especially memorable—so delicious that I felt it would be worth returning just for that. The guest Room was a maisonette style with an open, airy feel. Both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were comfortable, making the stay itself feel truly luxurious. On the other hand, there were a few points that concerned me. First, about 15 minutes before checkout, I received a call to my Room informing me that payment would be settled in the Room. While in-Room payment is convenient, if this is standard practice at this Accommodation, I think it would be more reassuring to be informed in advance—such as at check-in. I was also surprised that settlement was cash only and credit cards were not accepted. This wasn’t clear at the time of Reservation, so finding out only on the day made me anxious. It would be helpful if this were clearly stated during Reservation or in the Plan details. In addition, since credit card brand logos were displayed at the front desk, it left me wondering why card payments could not be used. At dinner as well, I had concerns about how one of the meat dishes was cooked: one portion was fully well-done while another was medium with a noticeably red center. There was no confirmation of cooking preference beforehand and no explanation as to why they were intentionally served differently. The flavor itself was good, which made this inconsistency stand out even more.

Your First Visit to “Uchiyama”
The other day, I stayed at “Uchiyama” for the first time. It also came with the added bonus of being able to meet a friend from my student days who lives nearby, so it felt like an even better value than the Accommodation I usually use—overall, it was excellent. Both the explanations and the smiles from the staff in charge of our Room were wonderful. This time we had dinner served in our Room with my friend, which gave us a great chance to catch up. My friend had recommended it to me back when I used to visit often, but at that time it felt a bit intimidating because it seemed for company employees only. Now my circumstances have changed, and compared with having my friend drive me out to a suburban place, I was able to stay here without any hesitation—and I’m glad I did. I’d love to stay again when I visit Ito. As for the meals: places we often go tend to serve an overwhelming amount of seafood as if to say “How about this!”, but my wife ended up giving up every time. Here, dinner was a satisfying portion that left us comfortably full, which she really appreciated. Breakfast was as delicious as rumored—I even had four extra bowls of rice (I usually only have one), and I was so full I couldn’t move and skipped lunch. Thank you very much.

A Reliable Accommodation in Izu Kogen
There was a 3–4 year gap due to changes in our child’s life stage, but we visited Uchiyama again last autumn after a long time away—and now we’re back once more. It has already been over 10 years since our first stay. Located at the quiet foot of Mt. Omuro in Izu Kogen, this Accommodation has just six maisonette-style rooms. We first learned about Uchiyama because we heard about the cuisine by the original head chef and simply thought, “Let’s go someday.” Since then, every part of the stay has felt comfortable. We keep coming back because it suits us perfectly: we can truly relax, enjoy delicious meals at an unhurried pace, and appreciate service that is attentive without feeling overly close. We drive from Yokohama each time and have settled into a straight there-and-back routine—because we don’t want to be exposed to any unnecessary noise. The Accommodation’s tagline is: “A place you’ll want to come home to again.” Soaking in the bath as much as we like, savoring seasonal dishes crafted with care by the head chef along with sake, and receiving thoughtful service that keeps just the right distance—it feels only natural for guests to want to return for that refreshing experience. We look forward to staying again!

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
My first stay in Ito. With the typhoon, I wasn’t sure we could make it, but I’m glad we did—it was an amazing day. The Room and the meals were wonderful; the dishes made great use of the ingredients, and there were original creations as well. We were very satisfied. The hot spring temperature was well managed, too. If I had to say one thing, due to my age, I would have liked a toilet on the second floor.

Nostalgic home-style dishes
The property has been beautifully renovated and is very clean despite being 20 years old. We chose the standard meal plan, and it was delicious—simple, no gimmicks, with a focus on great taste. The portion size was just right. I also forgot something behind, and I’m very grateful for all the help in handling it. Highly recommended.

A secluded Accommodation true to its concept
These days, having an open-air Onsen bath in the Room is nothing unusual, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this Accommodation truly lives up to its concept: a hidden retreat made up only of detached villas. It’s not far from Ito, yet because it’s in a villa area there’s very little everyday noise even with the windows open. With only a limited number of Rooms, even during a Multiple Night Stay you hardly sense other guests at all. It’s far quieter than many places that advertise themselves as “remote mountain hot springs.” This is an almost completely “stay-in” style Accommodation—ideal for one or two people to spend time quietly. Meals were served in-room, so depending on how you spend your time you may end up walking less than you do at home. They’ve thoroughly eliminated shared outside-the-Room amenities (including a large public bath—which they don’t have), and that clearly contributes to the calm atmosphere. Check-out is also done in the Room, so there’s essentially no chance of running into other guests. The Room design feels slightly dated in places, but it’s clean and well maintained, so there was little that bothered me. The cuisine is classic: a full Japanese course. Portions are larger than expected at both dinner and breakfast, so if you’re a light eater it may be best to mention it when making your Reservation. In particular, if you eat the breakfast specialty—thick sauce over rice—you may be too full for lunch. Both the indoor bath and outdoor open-air bath attached to the Room can be used 24 hours a day. Being able to adjust the indoor bath temperature easily was especially helpful. The view isn’t bad either—you can see the ocean. You’ll be happy if you get a clear day. Service was excellent by any standard. I appreciated how they accommodated skipping housekeeping and brought plenty of extra yukata and towels. The aroma from the tea leaves they warmed at check-in was wonderful—I probably should have asked them to do it again on the second night. It feels like this level of service quality comes precisely from their consistent focus: limited guests and no entertainment facilities. It’s hard to find real drawbacks; if I had to nitpick, it would be the toilet area layout (it’s tight enough that the automatic door sensor tends to misfire—if only the door opened the other way…). Also, since these are two-story buildings with tatami rooms and no high tables, guests with mobility issues should take note.

A reliable Uchiyama.
An elderly couple not interested in sightseeing can relax in the Room. We were looking for a great-value Accommodation about a 2-hour drive from home, mainly for delicious meals and the Onsen, and this was our third stay in two years at Uchiyama. As always, it’s consistently excellent. Even though it was only our third visit, they made us feel truly welcome. Above all, the food was outstanding.

Relax and indulge in delicious cuisine and Onsen baths
This was a repeat stay to unwind from everyday fatigue. From check-in to check-out, one staff member took care of everything, and I had a very comfortable time. The hot spring is, of course, free-flowing from the source, leaving my skin silky smooth, and I enjoyed it many times while gazing at the starry sky. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. There was also a capsule coffee machine with a variety of options to choose from, and the beer, sake, and soft drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary as well. This is one of my favorite Accommodations that I would love to visit again.

A Wonderful Experience
A few years ago I stayed in “Tsuki,” and this time I had the pleasure of staying in “Hana.” It had been a few years, so there were some changes, but it was a wonderful experience that made me glad I came. I was very satisfied, and I would like to stay again someday. That said, I would like to mention the following points that stood out. 1. We chose a Plan with a massage, but my wife’s therapist was also male. I understand it was our fault for not stating our preference, but I would have appreciated more consideration. In the end, they changed to a female therapist, but I felt sorry for the therapist who came initially. 2. This may depend on personal preference, but since “Hana” has an irori hearth, I was looking forward to enjoying something unique that could be done with it. However, it seemed to serve only as a table or decorative feature, which was disappointing. Because of that, I felt “Tsuki,” with its larger first-floor bath area, offered better value for money. Since the irori is sunken (horigotatsu-style), it may be good for those who want to do writing or desk work. Even so, the hospitality was exceptionally high, and overall we were extremely satisfied. Including the meals, location, and all aspects of their service, I don’t know any Accommodation better than this. Next time I would like to stay in “Yuki” or “Tsuki.”

It was a luxurious time doing nothing.
I have stayed here many times before, and this time I returned for the first time in several years. Even after a long break, it was still wonderful! Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Highly recommended for anyone who loves dashi-based flavors. The open-air bath was incredibly relaxing, and I could use it anytime as many times as I wanted. The views were great, the weather was nice, and I could clearly see the stars at night. All of the staff were very polite and attentive, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing and comfortable time. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

It was an Onsen trip...
It was an Onsen trip to celebrate my husband’s birthday. On the day, we were upgraded to a higher-grade Room, and we unexpectedly got to enjoy a large open-air bath. Not only were the baths wonderful, but the cuisine here was truly outstanding. With fresh ingredients and refined seasoning, everyone finished everything. The staff member in charge of our Room was also very attentive, and we’re grateful that we were able to spend the day in such a relaxed atmosphere. The Diamond Member benefit of a noon checkout also helped us take our time. This will definitely become one of our favorite Accommodations. Thank you as well for the celebratory cake.

An Accommodation You'll Want to Stay at Forever
Although it was my first stay, check-in was extremely smooth. From arrival, I was taken straight to my Room, and the check-in process was completed there. I was immediately served delicious sencha and tasty handmade sweets. There seem to be three Room types, and perhaps because there was availability, they kindly upgraded me. Both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were spacious, spotless, stylish—simply perfect. As for the meals, they were so incredibly delicious that I truly want you to stay and experience them for yourself rather than read details here. I have stayed at many Ryokan, and this is number one for me. Every dish was carefully prepared with time and effort; it was outstanding in every way. When I left, the staff—including the attendant and even the head chef—saw me off until they were out of sight. If I had to mention one area for improvement: since it’s in the mountains, the second floor can feel a bit cold in winter. Pregnant guests or women may find it too chilly to fall asleep comfortably, so an electric blanket might be a nice addition (my apologies if you already provide them). Of course, proper heating is available. Even so, overall it’s simply excellent—an Accommodation I almost don’t want to become too popular.

Our signature breakfast dish, braised abalone in a savory sauce, is exquisite.
We visited “Oyado Uchiyama” simply to relax, even though it felt a little early for the Kawazu cherry blossoms, and it was an Accommodation that suited us perfectly in every way—Onsen, meals, and hospitality. Although the weather was unfortunately unusual for Izu, with snowfall, soaking in the open-air bath while watching the first Kawazu cherry blossoms begin to bloom in the falling snow became an unforgettable experience. We don’t look for anything overly excessive in Room amenities or service, so everything felt just right, and the meals were as highly regarded—wonderfully prepared and outstanding. Above all, it was our first time staying at an Accommodation with both an open-air bath and an indoor bath inside the Room; they were very easy to use, and we may never have enjoyed Onsen so fully without even stepping outside. There was also an unexpected incident along the way, and we are truly grateful for all your help. Thank you sincerely for your heartfelt hospitality.

Experience the Luxury of Japan
Located on a hilltop accessible by taxi from Izu-Kogen Station, this accommodation offers both rooms with open-air baths overlooking the Izu Seven Islands and indoor baths. All rooms are detached, ensuring a quiet stay. Meals are traditional Japanese cuisine, thoughtfully prepared with attention to detail. Enjoy delicacies such as barracuda, golden eye snapper, pike conger eel, abalone, turban shellfish, spiny lobster, and Shizuoka beef. The vegetables are rich in flavor, and desserts feature an abundance of fresh fruits. The Ena chestnut sweets served as tea snacks were delightful. During our multiple night stay, both dinner and breakfast menus varied each day for a satisfying experience. Service was impeccable throughout our stay.

Highly recommended.
Highly recommended. The open-air bath is spotless and beautifully maintained. The hospitality and attentiveness of the staff member who assisted us were excellent. Although they seemed young, they were the best room attendant we have ever encountered in any Ryokan. The amenities were conveniently arranged, showing great attention to detail. Overall, this Ryokan leaves nothing to be dissatisfied with.

I was very satisfied.
It was a short one-night, two-day stay, but I was very satisfied. The indoor Onsen was impressively spacious, featuring an irori-style table and reclining chairs, allowing for repeated long breaks while enjoying the bath. The open-air bath on the second floor offered a stunning view of the majestic Mt. Omuro right behind it, and on clear days, you could see Sagami Bay below. It was in a great location. The meals were luxurious with an abundance of dishes that were almost too much to finish. Breakfast also amazed me with its variety and high quality. I thoroughly enjoyed both the Onsen and the meals. I would love to visit again if I have another opportunity!

A highly-rated and excellent accommodation
The room was lovely, the service was excellent, and the meals were delicious as expected, making my stay very satisfying. This is just a personal preference, but I felt that serving multiple dishes in one container sometimes overshadowed the ingredients; separate plating might enhance their presentation. I visited on a day with bad weather, so I hope to come again on a sunny day. Thank you very much!

A luxurious accommodation that soothes both mind and body.
I had a multiple night stay at "Oyado Uchiyama" in Izu Kogen. To conclude, everything was perfect, and it was truly an exceptional accommodation that made me want to visit again from the bottom of my heart. The accommodation has only six rooms, all detached for complete privacy, allowing for a very quiet and relaxing time. The private open-air onsen attached to each room was spacious, and being able to enjoy the onsen at any time in the morning or evening felt like the ultimate luxury. Unlike other onsen ryokans, this place features rooms divided into two floors—1st floor and 2nd floor—with open-air onsens available on both levels. I found this truly remarkable. The meals were outstanding as well. The kaiseki cuisine made with fresh local seafood from Izu and seasonal ingredients was not only visually stunning but also incredibly flavorful with every dish leaving a lasting impression. Even during our multiple night stay, the menu had thoughtful variations that kept it exciting throughout. The staff's hospitality was warm and attentive while maintaining a comfortable distance that allowed us to fully relax. For those looking to unwind from daily stress and enjoy luxurious moments of relaxation, this is highly recommended accommodation. I will definitely visit again someday. Thank you very much!

Accommodation with excellent service and delicious food
The meals were excellent, and the onsen was very relaxing, allowing us to have an enjoyable time. The weather was great that day, and the open-air bath on the 2nd floor was especially pleasant. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. While the accommodation has a bit of an aged feel, it might be nice to renovate areas like the bathroom floors. Additionally, small details such as upgrading items like yukata or toilet paper to more refined options could enhance the overall atmosphere. I would love to stay again during a different season.

An unforgettable elegant experience. Exceptional hospitality enjoyed by the whole family.
The time spent at "Oyado Uchiyama" in Izu Kogen became an unforgettable treasure for our family, thanks to the exceptional meals and heartfelt hospitality provided by the staff. 【A Blissful Dining Experience to Savor and Enjoy】 As we were traveling with a child under one year old, we enjoyed our meals in the room. Each dish highlighted the charm of seasonal ingredients, offering a level of quality far beyond typical Ryokan fare. The fresh vegetables, including rare mountain greens, and seafood sourced that morning were extraordinary. The beautiful presentation added to the excitement even before tasting. As a couple who enjoys exploring renowned restaurants in Tokyo, we were amazed by such flavorful and profound dishes right here in Izu. For families with older children, they also offer kids' meals so everyone can enjoy dining together—a delightful prospect for future visits. 【Thoughtful Hospitality That Warms the Heart】 From the moment of making our Reservation over the phone, where a female staff member attentively addressed details like children's yukata sizes and Onsen water quality, we felt reassured even before departure. On arrival day, a male staff member provided top-notch hospitality—handling luggage and maintaining just the right balance between attentiveness and respecting our family's rhythm throughout our stay until checkout. His expertise shone through personalized suggestions for my preferred drinks or thoughtful accommodations based on observing my child's seating needs or my wife's birthdate—making us feel as if we'd been regular guests for years. 【Charming Details That Add Character】 The guest room was clean and serene; however, there was some aging visible on parts of the toilet area’s fixtures along with slightly strong air freshener scents. Our family saw this as evidence of welcoming guests over generations—a charming touch—but it might be noticeable to those who prefer brand-new facilities. Regarding what seemed like an outsourced massage service: availability was limited while quality (especially lengthy personal anecdotes from therapists) left something to be desired.

A quiet accommodation with delicious meals
Stayed as a family of three for a 60th birthday celebration. We chose this accommodation "Tsuki" for its reputation for delicious meals and the unique maisonette-style rooms. With no other plans, our focus was on enjoying the open-air bath and meals, making it the perfect choice. The second-floor open-air bath offered a relaxing and spacious experience, while the first-floor indoor bath was also very pleasant. Dinner featured "Spring Kaiseki Cuisine," with each dish being delightful to savor. After dinner, there were no shops or bars to visit, so we stayed in our room except for taking a walk. Having dinner at 6 PM left us slightly hungry later in the night; we thought having something like rice balls as a late-night snack would have been nice but went to bed looking forward to breakfast instead. Breakfast was equally delicious, and we finished every grain of rice from the pot provided. The late checkout allowed us to enjoy another soak in the open-air bath after breakfast, making us wish we had booked a Multiple Night Stay! Reluctantly leaving, we were sent off by the head chef himself—a thoughtful gesture that highlighted how attentive this accommodation is. Thank you for your wonderful cuisine! We look forward to visiting again during another season as everyone in our family left completely satisfied with this stay.

Thank you for your patronage.
We enjoyed delicious meals, soaked in the onsen, relaxed in our room, and had an elegant holiday. The photos we received are displayed alongside those from last year. The view from the daybed in the room was also wonderful. My husband was eagerly anticipating the abalone with sauce, which was delicious and we were very happy to enjoy it leisurely in our room. We were seen off by everyone and returned home reluctantly. Thank you for the courteous email from the person in charge as well. It is a very lovely property, and my husband and I are talking about visiting again in a different season. Thank you for taking care of us.

Relaxing Stays
A well-cleaned room with a calm atmosphere. The comfortable daybed and the back-and-forth between the indoor bath adjusted to 41 degrees and the open-air bath was a blissful time. However, since it was used by two people, it would have been nice to have another chair, even a simple one, in the wide veranda. The meals were as excellent as reputed, and I was even moved by the dishes that made the most of the ingredients and were genuinely delicious. For breakfast, I was so satisfied that I overate rice and was too full to have the planned lunch or even sweets. Additionally, the service from all the staff was wonderful.

The Supreme Stays
The room, cuisine, and hospitality were all highly satisfactory, with no negative points. I often stay at ryokans in a similar price range, and there are usually some concerns or areas for improvement, but Uchiyama-san was a highly complete property with no noticeable issues. For dinner, at other stays, there is often at least one dish that seems mediocre, but this time at Uchiyama-san, every dish was exquisite, with no hint of cutting corners, and the flavors and dashi were elegantly presented, making for a very delicious experience. Additionally, the sake provided matched the cuisine very well, and there were many that I personally liked, which greatly enhanced my satisfaction. The service provided by the person who served the meals was also highly satisfactory, making for a happy time. Regarding the room, it was thoroughly cleaned and maintained a sense of cleanliness, allowing for a comfortable stay. The view from the open-air bath, including Omuroyama, the starry sky, and the sea, was very beautiful, making for a blissful time throughout. I definitely want to visit again.

Please come again!
I stayed for one night. I am always busy and pressed for time, so it was nice to relax. This time, my husband and I went with our two daughters and our daughter's 11-month-old child, and it was a very child-friendly property where we could stay with peace of mind. However, due to the heavy rain and strong winds at night, it was a bit difficult to enter the open-air bath on the second floor, which was a shame. In the morning, the weather improved, and I was able to enjoy the bath with a wonderful view, which was fantastic. If you inform them in advance about any ingredients you don't like, they will avoid them, and the meal was delicious. All the staff were very accommodating. I would love to visit again. Thank you for taking care of us this time.

The food is very delicious.
I had the most delicious rice I've ever tasted in a Japanese kaiseki meal (dinner). The abalone ankake for breakfast was also very delicious. It's not an amount I can afford frequently, but I hope to visit again. I stayed in the Yuki room, and while it might be a bit lacking if you're looking for a large bath (as there is no public bath), having an open-air bath in the room was fantastic. We brought our 4-month-old baby, and the staff's hospitality was excellent, providing us with diapers and a baby bath. It's a property I would love to visit again.

Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality. We stayed here for our wedding anniversary, and the hospitality was wonderful, making our stay perfect. We are truly grateful. The view from the open-air bath was great, and the stars were beautiful. We definitely want to visit again next time.
