    The entire Accommoda...

    The entire Accommodation is covered with tatami mats, and it was the most Japanese-style place I have ever stayed. It is close to the stone-paved street, so an after-dinner walk was very pleasant.

    It was a very nice Accommodation. However, the open-air bath in the Room could be seen from a nearby parking area, so I used it with the sliding door closed. Also, in the large public bath, the shower head could not be fixed at a comfortable height when rinsing shampoo, so I had to hold it while rinsing. Other than that, everything was very good.

    The changing area is difficult to use.

    The open-air bath in the Room was very comfortable, and I enjoyed bathing many times. The meals and the staff’s service were attentive in every way, and I was very satisfied. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the changing area: there was not enough space to place clothes, so it may need improvement. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    We were able to enjoy the seasonal atmosphere.

    Both the Room and the meals were excellent. The flowers arranged by the proprietress and the Setsubun “Risshun Daikichi” decoration let us truly enjoy the season and feel relaxed! One small disappointment was that the meal explanations were spoken too quickly to catch, so we often had to ask again.

    The meals and servic...

    The meals and service were mostly satisfactory, but the private bath water temperature was too high, which was the only disappointment. Also, the toilet in the Room was extremely cold.

    This time, I stayed ...

    This time, I stayed at Hourai. The atmosphere was great, and the scenery was amazing. Above all, the staff at the accommodation were very kind, making my stay pleasant. I definitely want to stay here again.

    Safe and Comfortable Accommodation

    It was my first time at Ikaho Onsen, and the location was very convenient with the steps right in front. The meals were delicious and satisfying. The deck attached to the room was great for stargazing.

    Excellent customer service.

    We stayed at the accommodation with our onsen friends. The accommodation is located at the entrance of the staircase street, and from the room, we could see the stairs and autumn leaves. At night, the illuminated view was beautiful. The room was not new but was well-cleaned and spacious enough, approximately 10+4 tatami mats, to relax comfortably. Regarding amenities, there was a comb in the bath area but no hairbrushes; there was only one in the room as well. Since we were three people staying, it would have been better to have enough for everyone. Also, one of the baths had a narrow and somewhat complex layout. What stood out most was their excellent customer service. Even after checking out, they kindly drove us to a bus stop when we returned later—this gesture helped us greatly! It seems that Tamaki operates various other facilities as well; on our way back home, we visited their café too—a serene Japanese-style café with a great location to unwind. This was my second visit to Ikaho this year, and I think this accommodation is truly wonderful. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The location of the accommodation was excellent.

    Located near the base of the stone steps street, it was very convenient to take a casual stroll whenever I felt like it. Thanks to this, I had a memorable experience walking to Kajika Bridge illuminated at night. Additionally, the staff's courteous and attentive service made my stay very pleasant. One minor downside was that the rice served at dinner was slightly on the moist side. This might be a matter of personal preference, but I personally prefer firmer rice, so it felt a bit unfortunate. Overall, however, the meals were delicious. As an established Ryokan with history, some parts of the Facility felt slightly dated; however, it had charm and did not cause any significant inconvenience. I had an enjoyable stay and would love to visit again if given another opportunity.

    A Traditional Ryokan from the Good Old Days

    This was my first time visiting Ikaho Onsen. I stayed at the accommodation "Tamaki." The staff provided excellent service, were attentive, and had a pleasant smile. The meals were perfect in both quantity and quality. It felt like a warm ryokan from the good old days, and I was very satisfied. However, one downside is the poor connection with public transportation. The transportation network is quite inconvenient as there are few train services between Shibukawa Station and Takasaki Station, making it difficult to coordinate with buses. It would be helpful if there were shuttle services to Shibukawa Station timed with train schedules.

    Very satisfied.

    Stayed with my family for the first time. The Ryokan with tatami mats had a great atmosphere and was very relaxing. The food was delicious. The staff at the Ryokan provided various hospitality to us as foreigners. I would love to visit again.

    It was raining heavily, but I had a relaxing time.

    Stayed at Accommodation Karin. The room was spacious and comfortable. The large public bath was very pleasant, especially the brown-colored bath. It would be appreciated if there were a cold bath in the large public bath after the gender switch. Meals were delicious both in the morning and evening. Tried Iwana Namero for the first time, a local specialty dish. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. The beef was slightly fatty (perhaps due to my age). The staff were calm and provided excellent service. The shuttle service for parking was very helpful. Although it rained heavily on the day of arrival, it allowed us to relax at the accommodation instead, which was nice. On the following day, we enjoyed shooting games under clear skies at times. Stopping by a rusk factory on our way back added to our experience as well! Staying at such a wonderful accommodation made for an amazing holiday! Thank you very much!

    I visited after a long time. It felt quite fresh as I didn’t remember much from before. The traditional atmosphere was wonderful, and the overall cleanliness provided a sense of comfort. I believe that’s the most important aspect. It makes me want to visit again.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. It was a trip with a friend I hadn't seen in 20 years. This was an accommodation highly recommended by an acquaintance, and I really wanted to visit. The delicious meals and soothing onsen provided great relaxation. I was able to forget about daily life and fully enjoy my time. I would love to stay again in the future. Thank you very much!

    The staff provided excellent service.

    I arrived by bus, and the Ryokan was conveniently located right at the base of the stone steps. I arrived earlier than check-in time to explore the area around the steps and called ahead to leave my luggage, which they kindly came to collect. After checking in, every staff member greeted me with a smile, making for a stress-free experience. The meals were satisfying with generous portions; however, the meat was too tough to chew easily. Additionally, there were small signs of understaffing, such as tissues not being replenished near the bathroom sink in the bath area. Overall, including sightseeing at the stone steps right in front of us, I was very satisfied and thought this Ryokan was an excellent choice.

    I recently stayed here for the first time with my mother! The location was great, and we chose to stay because the Room with a bath was reasonably priced. The food was delicious, the facility was very clean, and we were able to relax comfortably. It was wonderful! My mother was also very pleased, and we were extremely satisfied! I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you so much for this experience!

    We enjoyed the two types of hot springs in Ikaho.

    This was my third visit to Ikaho, and since I had skipped the famous Stone Steps Street during my previous trips, I decided to focus on exploring it this time (while I still have the energy to walk up and down the stairs). Although I didn’t specifically choose the accommodation based on its location, it turned out to perfectly match my travel purpose. The excellent location, along with superb hot springs and meals, made for a wonderful stay. One of the two large baths felt slightly outdated, with oddly spaced bathtubs that made it hard to relax fully. For this reason, I rated "Facility" 4 stars (though the other bath was clean, charmingly designed, and well-equipped—worthy of a perfect score in my opinion). Additionally, not all accommodations in Ikaho offer both types of its renowned hot springs: "Golden Water" and "Silver Water." At Tamaki however, guests can enjoy both kinds of baths—a feature that left me thoroughly satisfied. The meals were thoughtfully prepared with great ingredients and seasoning. While dishes like a whole grilled yamame trout felt slightly repetitive for me personally, they were visually appealing as well as delicious. Since everything was so seamless during my stay without needing much interaction with staff at reception or elsewhere—and perhaps because of this—I rated "Hospitality & Service" 4 stars due to a slight sense of detachment. However, this might actually reflect their flawless service style overall!

    It was my first stay in a while!

    Stayed at the accommodation after several years. I always thought the meals at Tamaki were delicious, but I was a bit disappointed with the salmon at breakfast. The room's bath required reheating, which was a little inconvenient. Other than that, the staff's service and the room were excellent. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Heartwarming hospitality and a healing stay experience

    I had a wonderful stay experience at this Ryokan. The room was very clean and comfortable, providing a relaxing space. The onsen in the large bath was excellent, offering a moment of healing for both body and mind. Both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety and were very delicious, leaving me very satisfied. The staff were warm and courteous, and they answered questions with genuine care. Overall, it was a very memorable stay, and I would definitely like to visit again.

    The perfect Stays for strolling along the stone steps street.

    The staff are all kind and strive to provide courteous service. The main entrance is not on the stone steps side, but on a steep uphill, making it difficult to find. However, there are clever routes such as the side entrance on the stone steps side and the night entrance located on the second floor, which led to new discoveries. I think the provision and explanation of the meals could be simpler. I felt a bit stressed about getting rice refills and water service. However, the staff are hardworking, and I have no complaints. The large public bath switches between men and women at 8 PM, but whether it's the charm or the atmosphere, I felt a significant disparity. There is a surprising difference not only in the facilities but also in the amenities (hairdryer). The proprietress and the young master are very attentive in their service, which was impressive. It seems there are many regular guests who make this their usual stay. The quality and quantity of the meals are sufficient, but it's a bit disappointing that the menu differs from the neighboring table. It was also quite strange that the tea set was collected from the room after the meal. I couldn't eat the tea sweets later and left them behind. The open-air bath attached to the room is not a natural hot spring but a circulated one, which made me hesitate to enter. Otherwise, the large public bath has two sources, the Golden Spring and the Silver Spring, making it a very lovely property.

    Very satisfied

    The bath, the Room, the food, and the staff's hospitality were all wonderful. The decorations in the facility and the Room matched the season and were very cute. I wanted to use the ReFa hair dryer, but since it was only available in one of the changing rooms, it was on a time-based gender rotation system, so I couldn't use it at night. It would have been nice if it could be placed in both changing rooms. The food was delicious, and I was able to relax in the Onsen, making it a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    Everything was good, but...

    The atmosphere, customer service, and meals are highly satisfactory, but one disappointing aspect is that the steps in the cloudy Onsen water are completely invisible, causing me to almost trip and fall in the bath. Some improvements are necessary.

    The location and Onsen were good.

    Stayed in the Karin Room. The onsen in the room and the mountain view from the terrace were wonderful. The meals were carefully prepared and delicious, and the location near the Ikaho steps was excellent. The room amenities were a bit lacking, but the towel warmer was convenient. I felt there was a difference in motivation among the staff.

    Onsen, seasonal cuisine, I was satisfied!

    About two weeks ago, I suddenly thought of going to an onsen, and since only one room was available at Tamaki (Tamaki), I made a stay. As expected, it was the remaining room, so it was disappointing that it wasn't a room with a good view of the mountains or stairs. The onsen, food, and service were very good, as expected from Tamaki (Tamaki), and I was able to spend a relaxing time. I realized that the view from the room is also important, so next time I would like to make a reservation with more time to spare.

    About the smell of the yukata

    I have stayed here several times, but the smell of the yukata really bothers me. I would like them to use fabric softener or change the washing method to address the smell.
