    First visit in six years

    We visited once as a couple six years ago, and the island and this Hotel left a lasting impression, so we returned with our children and grandchildren. As expected, we had a wonderful stay, and it felt like the quality of the meals at the terrace restaurant had improved—good enough to deserve a Michelin star.

    I stayed for two nights, and throughout my stay I received outstanding service, making it a truly comfortable and fulfilling experience. Having access to the dedicated shuttle bus was also very convenient, allowing me to enjoy my stay with peace of mind when getting around. What impressed me most was the nighttime viewing available exclusively to guests. Being able to appreciate the artworks in a quiet, special atmosphere different from daytime was a truly luxurious experience. I was worried I might not make it in time for the gallery tour starting at 4:00 PM, but thanks to the front desk staff kindly arranging a separate car and driving me there, I was able to join without any issues. I am sincerely grateful for their flexible and heartwarming support. In addition, they provided a thorough explanation of the “Corridor of Time,” and I had the chance to hear various stories about the intentions behind the artworks and Facility as well as their background. Rather than simply viewing the pieces, I was able to understand their value and meaning more deeply, which made it an extremely meaningful time. For future guests, I highly recommend listening to the guide’s explanations—they will enrich how you view and feel about the works and make your stay even more satisfying.

    I enjoyed a luxuriou...

    I enjoyed a luxurious stay surrounded by art. Both the space and the service were excellent, and all of the staff were kind. With Shuttle Service buses to the port and museums, getting around the island was very convenient. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Naoshima.

    Enjoy exclusive perks when you stay with Benesse!

    We arrived by car, and with the Benesse guest pass, getting around the grounds felt like visiting museums as well—the guest privileges were excellent. There are plenty of Benesse shuttle buses running on the island, so we used them at night. I didn’t realize everything in the refrigerator was free, so I only had one beer. We ordered wine at the restaurant too, and it made for a very satisfying stay. The calm Seto Inland Sea view from the balcony was incredibly relaxing. With no TV, we could fully enjoy the scenery and art.

    With two meals included, the game cuisine was delicious, and the service was on par with top-tier restaurants and hotels in metropolitan areas. In fact, I was amazed at how exceptional the service and food were for this price. However, I would like to mention one thing: I initially interpreted that the room's refrigerator contents were all-you-can-drink. When I asked to confirm, I was told it wasn't all-you-can-drink. Just as I expressed surprise, they clarified that it actually was an all-you-can-drink plan. It is important to thoroughly check a guest's plan before responding—this is crucial since we were not in a rush at that time.

    Exclusive perks for guests! Enjoy even on Mondays.

    The accommodation offers excellent perks for guests. There is a free shuttle service for staying guests that stops at the port and various museums. While many museums are closed on Mondays, "Benesse House Museum," "Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery: Time Corridors," and "Valley Gallery" remain open, allowing guests to enjoy contemporary art through art tours and gallery tours. Since reservations are harder to secure on other days, Monday is a great choice. After dinner, when revisiting the museum beyond the last shuttle bus time, individual transportation was kindly arranged by the front desk. This saves time and offers a unique nighttime museum experience—highly recommended. We stayed at Park for two nights, where the rooms were compact yet functional, creating a soothing space that blends seamlessly with art. Enjoying Ando's beautiful architecture made us feel truly happy. The staff seemed relatively young but provided sincere and attentive service throughout our stay.

    The male receptionist was very cold, which was disappointing.

    The male staff at the reception was extremely overbearing and cold. I stayed for 3 nights, but every interaction was unpleasant to the extreme. The wonderful artworks in the gallery and the emotional impact of Naoshima's art were overshadowed by this experience. I believe that the demeanor of Hotel staff is an important factor, so this was very disappointing.

    It was an amazing experience.

    ■ Room & Amenities Spacious room with a great view. A wonderful room that helps you forget your daily life. Soundproofing is slightly weak. ■ Customer Service The service was excellent, but there were many important details we had to ask about ourselves. Information such as boat schedules, activities, and Facility guides could be explained a bit more proactively. ■ Onsen & Bathing Facilities This is not the main focus of this Facility. While the equipment may not be top-notch, amenities from a famous Thai brand are provided instead. ■ Facility & Equipment This deserves more than 5 stars, so I rated it 5 stars overall. You can experience something unique here that cannot be found elsewhere. ■ Dining Dinner was extremely delicious; however, breakfast seemed to lack enough Japanese options.

    Finally, I was able to go.

    It was a hotel I had wanted to stay at for many years. The room was clean and the amenities were well-equipped. Since we arrived early, we left our luggage at the reception, first visited the "Benesse Museum," had lunch at "Ichisen," and then visited the Chichu Art Museum. For dinner, we enjoyed kaiseki cuisine at "Ichisen" and had a buffet breakfast at the terrace restaurant. The meals were all delicious without complaint. We were able to relax in the spacious facility. The disappointing part was that we couldn't participate in the "Night Program" of the Chichu Art Museum that we had reserved. We went down to the entrance early and waited for the shuttle bus. Despite confirming with several reception staff about the time of our dedicated bus, we were mistakenly guided to another "Night Program (Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery)" starting at the same time in Park Building, not knowing what was happening but thinking it strange as we got mixed up there. When asked if you are participants of this night program, you would answer yes, right? Was it our responsibility that made us mistaken? We did not get a refund for not being able to participate in Chichu Art Museum's Night Program. The only saving grace was that content of “Night Program (Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery)” turned out interesting...

    We received very kind service.

    I have stayed at the Museum and Oval in Naoshima before, and this was my first stay at the Park. I had some concerns, like the partition on the balcony, similar to the Museum and Oval, but overall, the result was a great success, and I wished I had opted for a Multiple Night Stay. The sea view from the top of the Oval is amazing, but the Park, where you can feel the sea nearby, is also nice. You can also enjoy the art exhibits. Above all, the friendly and smiling service from the staff was wonderful, truly one of the best in Japan.

    A luxurious moment

    Due to various circumstances, we arrived at Naoshima around 4:30 PM and left the island after 2 PM the next day, making it a whirlwind trip. Therefore, we booked Benesse House Park, which allows guests to enjoy the museum until 11 PM. (A few years ago, we did a day trip mainly cycling around the port and Honmura area, so this time we focused on the Benesse Art Site.) Thanks to the shuttle service, we were able to join the art tour, and when we mentioned dining out for dinner, they kindly provided us with a map of restaurants on Naoshima. Since cafes close early and the bus schedule didn't align well, we went to the neighboring Naoshima Shokudo. Returning to the hotel, we went to the lounge in the Corridor of Time and found it all to ourselves! I thought it was only open on weekends, but it was a lovely space where we could relax with self-serve coffee. A staff member came by, and when we talked about the island and the artworks, they mentioned that there was a shuttle to the museum at night, so we could visit anytime. It was our first time at the museum at night, and we could enjoy the artworks at our own pace as there were hardly any other visitors. The buildings, which incorporate natural light, offered a different perspective at night compared to the day, which was interesting. The next day, we visited the Chichu Art Museum, Lee Ufan Museum, and Valley Gallery. Even after checking out, we were allowed to use the dedicated bus, and they stored our luggage while we visited the museums. We returned to the hotel around noon and went back to the Corridor of Time to enjoy tea and sweets, spending a leisurely and luxurious time. The shuttle service staff, hotel staff, and museum staff were all very kind and pleasant, and everyone we asked provided explanations about the artworks, allowing us to appreciate them more deeply. From the room we stayed in, we could see the sea and outdoor artworks, and there was a piece by Turrell displayed inside. We also had time to relax while playing our favorite music via Bluetooth on the BOSE speakers. Breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and food while overlooking the sea. Even though it was the off-season, the reservation calendar seemed fully booked. There were many families with children and foreigners, but it was quiet and peaceful without hearing other people's voices. With breakfast included for a one-night stay and additional perks for guests, honestly, this price is too cheap. We are very satisfied. Thank you very much!

    I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

    I went on a trip to Naoshima to celebrate my mother's birthday. It was our first time staying at Benesse House, and the room was extremely comfortable. The air conditioning was quiet, and the shutters used as curtains were thoughtfully designed, making the stay very pleasant. The entire room had a sense of being rationally and compactly designed. We also enjoyed the outdoor art and fully appreciated the charm of Naoshima. The staff's warm hospitality made my mother very happy. I hope to visit again someday. Thank you very much.

    Stays with the best view

    I finally got to stay at the Benesse House I've always dreamed of. The building itself is art, and of course, I was moved by the sea in front of me, as well as the sunset and sunrise. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was a buffet, but it was delightful with a good selection of vegetables. The room was clean and convenient, and the view from the room was superb. There were many accommodation benefits, and we made good use of the free bus. This time, we planned to visit Teshima, but we gave up because the ship was canceled due to strong winds. It's a property that's hard to get a reservation for, but I would like to visit again.
