    Joshu Local Flavors ...

    Joshu Local Flavors BBQ Set It was delicious. I would appreciate a slightly more detailed explanation on how to use the BBQ grill. Since it was around dusk, I think improving the lighting would create a better atmosphere. It would also be nice to have mosquito coils. Stayed in a South Wing Twin There was a fan that brings in outside air, but having no air conditioning in August was quite hot and tough. The open-air bath feels very rustic and has a great hidden-hot-spring vibe, but I would like you to maintain the quality expected of a Prince Hotel.

    Please reconsider your approach.

    It was my first time back at Manza Onsen in a while, and I had a wonderful time. For older guests, the route from reception to the South Wing may be a bit challenging. Still, I was able to relax and take it easy.

    I stayed in an East ...

    I stayed in an East Wing twin Room. The view from the Room was great, overlooking the open sky. There was no air conditioning, but there was a fan, so it wasn’t a problem. The dinner buffet was good—especially the seared bonito and binchotan tuna. There was also crab, but it was pretty empty and not very good. It was disappointing that alcohol prices were high. The breakfast buffet was also delicious. For some reason they had morning beer, and it was cheap at 500 yen! The hot spring water quality was excellent and I was satisfied. The only downside is that since it’s a shared open-air bath, I wish they would switch between men and women by time slots. Before check-in, you can use the baths at Prince Hotel and Kogen Hotel.

    Quite disappointing.

    I expected the Facility to be old, but despite the high temperatures there was no air conditioning—only a fan. On top of that, the Room reeked of cigarette smoke (even though my Reservation was for non-smoking). It also sounded like people were drinking and partying in the Room across the hall late at night, and it was very noisy. In addition, the dinner buffet was quite disappointing. Even though it costs 7,000 yen, it’s not worth it at all. It had been a while since I stayed at a Prince-affiliated Accommodation, but it still wasn’t good.

    The meals are delicious, and the milky hot spring is outstanding.

    The food is delicious. There is crab, but that’s not all. The roast beef, cheese pasta, and special mapo tofu are freshly made and tasty. The other dishes are also very satisfying. Breakfast is well prepared and satisfying too. If you stay here, we recommend booking a plan with both dinner and breakfast included. The Onsen has pleasantly cloudy water.

    First Time at Manza Onsen!

    Manza Onsen is a sulfur spring I had always wanted to visit. I went by car in early November, but it seemed to have snowed the day before, and the general road from Nagano was closed due to ice! When I tried another route, it was also closed! The only option was the Manza Highway, so getting to the Hotel was quite challenging. As I got closer to the Hotel, the scent of sulfur filled the air, and my excitement grew! After having dinner first and relaxing in my Room, I headed to the Onsen. Since I went late at night, the open-air bath was practically private, and as expected, the water quality was amazing! It seems you can also use the hot springs at Kogen Hotel across from here; next time I'll come earlier and fully enjoy it!

    Onsen is wonderful.

    I stayed for the Onsen and was very satisfied with the wonderful Onsen as expected, but I felt a bit uncomfortable in the mixed-gender open-air bath. The room was quite small, but it was acceptable since my main purpose was the Onsen. The buffet restaurant for dinner and breakfast had an average selection and taste, but I enjoyed having crab there, and the roast beef was delicious. In the morning, the outdoor view was lovely. However, it seemed like the room temperature setting was too high, making it uncomfortably hot and hard to fully enjoy my meal.

    It may feel somewhat underwhelming.

    The open-air bath is labeled as male-only, but there is no partition, making it essentially mixed bathing. The dinner buffet does not even include miso soup. It would be better to have more common options available. The alcohol service was disorganized and did not feel worth the price.

    Compared to previous visits, the variety of dishes at the buffet, especially dinner, has decreased and the quality has worsened. Additionally, for a Prince Hotel, the Room's TV is small and the refrigerator lacks a freezer, making it feel like a lower-level Facility.

    A Stunning View at 1800m

    The breathtaking Onsen with milky white water was amazing. The buffet meals were delicious, and I even had seconds of the roast beef. However, the downside was the room temperature; at 1800m altitude, there was no air conditioning. It was hot.

    Escape the scorching heat

    We stayed at the end of August to escape the heat of the Kanto region and enjoy the summer night sky. Thanks to the high altitude, it was incredibly comfortable compared to the intense heat in lowland areas—truly like heaven! It was a perfect choice for a summer retreat. Although the facility shows its age, the staff's attentive hospitality made our stay very pleasant. We were also able to fully enjoy stargazing, which was one of our main purposes, creating wonderful summer memories that delighted our family. The Onsen was fantastic as well, and we look forward to staying here again!

    The Hotel staff were kind, and overall we had a comfortable stay, but the stairs seemed challenging for my elderly mother.

    Open-air Bath

    Located at an altitude of 1800m, the highest Hotel in Japan. Guests can enjoy access to seven open-air hot springs at the nearby Manza Kogen Hotel. Mixed bathing is available, and guests can use dedicated bath towels. The baths can accommodate over 50 people. A shuttle bus is available every 30 minutes, taking just 5 minutes to reach. The dinner buffet has a limited selection of dishes with average taste, which may be disappointing for a Prince Hotel buffet.

    The facility is undeniably old. There was no air conditioner, but there was a working cooler. However, the room was still hot. The hot water was very good. The women-only open-air bath seemed nice. The staff's quick response was much appreciated.

    At an altitude of 1,800 meters, the open-air Onsen at Manza Prince Hotel is truly exceptional. The breathtaking view and sense of accomplishment are rewards for those who safely conquer the steep slopes of Onioshidashi Highway and Manza Highway leading to the hotel. During my stay, there was a fierce snowstorm. Walking completely bare through the blizzard from the indoor bath to the outdoor Onsen and immersing myself in its warm waters was pure bliss—like stumbling upon a hidden Onsen after being lost in snowy mountains. I tried both the dinner and breakfast buffets, which were comparable to Business Hotel standards. However, the heavenly outdoor Onsen makes you forget everything else. This accommodation is recommended for those who prioritize enjoying an extraordinary open-air bath experience over gourmet dining.

    Onsen is the best!

    The facility is old, but the snowy scenery was breathtaking, and the Onsen was amazing. The hotel staff were warm and kind, and I deeply appreciate their help when I felt unwell. The shuttle service was included, and the value for money was incredible. I would love to visit again!

    The Onsen alone is worth the visit (I just forgot about skiing...).

    I have previously used the highland Hotel of the Manza Prince Hotel Group, and this was my first stay at a Prince Property. I checked in around 6 PM, and the front desk staff were very accommodating and efficient. The bath was incredibly pleasant, with special rental wear available, which allowed my partner to enjoy it comfortably. Being able to relax in the mixed bath was very refreshing. Don't forget the complimentary ice cream after your bath! From the restaurant, you can see a kamakura (snow hut), and for skiers, the slopes are right in front of you—great location. While cleaning is well done, I can't deny that Facility aging is noticeable and there wasn't anything remarkable about the meals; hence I rate it 3 stars.

    The Facility of the ...

    The Facility of the Hotel is too outdated. Without a bold renovation, the name of Manza Onsen will be tarnished. In the bath, bathers are required to wrap towels due to the lack of a partition between the women's and men's baths, but a partition should be installed as soon as possible, and the towel requirement should be abolished. If mixed bathing is also stopped and private baths are actively promoted to families and couples, overall satisfaction will greatly improve.

    Too dirty!

    I have stayed at various Hotels and Ryokans before, but this was the worst experience of my life. Dirty, just dirty! The front desk staff had an average attitude, but the guy shoveling snow in front of the Hotel all morning had a terrible attitude, acting arrogantly, truly the worst! In the Onsen, there were hairs and dirty hairs floating everywhere—what is this!? Is this really a Prince?

    Onsen is a sure thing.

    There is no dissatisfaction with the Onsen itself. On the contrary, I wonder if anyone could be dissatisfied with it? It's such a wonderful Onsen. The building is old and shows signs of wear, but that can't be helped. I think meal preferences vary by generation, but the food is delicious and satisfying. It's unfortunate that the free Shuttle Service to and from Karuizawa has been reduced. It takes about an additional hour to climb further into the mountains from Kusatsu. It's inconvenient without a private car. If there is no free Shuttle Service available, you will have to use a regular bus. It's difficult to find a place to sit if you have a lot of luggage.
