    A touch of nostalgia and

I remembered staying here with my family 45 years ago, so this time I visited with my 93-year-old mother and my sister. I recall it being a low-rise, lodge-style Hotel with views of the golf course from the windows. It seems it has been renovated… We were lucky with the weather, and Mt. Asama was clearly visible from our Room, which made for a truly relaxing stay. There is no indoor bath in the Onsen, but the view from the open-air bath was wonderful and we really enjoyed it. We hope to visit again soon.

That buffet is no longer available...

A small, cozy Hotel. The Room was nicely renovated and very comfortable. The view from the bath was also wonderful. However, there were a lot of insects at that time of year, and it seemed the cleaning couldn’t keep up, so that was a downside. The view from the terrace was breathtaking as well. If it had been clear, I think the starry sky would have been beautiful too. But that buffet was unacceptable. The dining area lacked sufficient lighting—“dim” would be an accurate description (though the morning view is excellent). Cold food... There were several items that might have been tasty if they had been served properly hot, which felt like a missed opportunity. The crab tasted like water—no saltiness at all. In short, I can only describe it as disappointing and underwhelming. It was an underwhelming buffet. Very disappointing...

    My spouse and I stay...

My spouse and I stayed here after a round of golf. Being able to stay at the adjacent Hotel after golf was very convenient, with no travel needed. It was also great to be able to soak in the Onsen after golf and relieve our fatigue. Dinner was a buffet, but it was in the same venue as lunch during golf, so we thought choosing a course meal might have been better. At breakfast there was someone cooking omelets, so we feel having a live kitchen at dinner as well would improve the quality of the buffet. While temperatures in the Kanto region were around 35°C, Tsumagoi Village had a high of about 28°C, which made it very comfortable. We would like to visit again as a summer retreat.

    The food was disappointing.

The Room is not bad for a Prince hotel. However, the dinner buffet was quite disappointing. Even though it costs JPY 7,000, it is not worth the price at all.

    Three-day weekend

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days over a three-day weekend. The location is excellent. As a standalone Accommodation in Tsumagoi Village, famous for its cabbage, there is nothing around to block the view, so the scenery is great. The rooms facing Mt. Asama have the better view, but there isn’t much difference between the 1st and 3rd floors. The guest room layout is long and narrow with a step partway through, so carts can’t pass without lifting them; moving luggage is a bit inconvenient. Baths: The renovated open-air bath is spacious and comfortable. There are only about five washing stations, so when it gets crowded there’s nowhere to wait. It would be nice to have at least a rinse bucket area. Smoking area: It’s located on the way to the restaurant, so non-smokers may find secondhand smoke unpleasant. Buffet: A wide variety of dishes. The morning omelet is delicious. The crab was watery and not very good. The eel chirashi sushi and signature curry are excellent. Since the menu is the same every day, I’d like to see some daily specials as well. The fresh cabbage is delicious. Overall it’s great value for money, so I’d like to visit again when the weather is nice.

It was my first time using this service.

The Facility has been renovated and was very clean. It was thoroughly cleaned, so we had a comfortable stay. Above all, the open-air bath was excellent. Next time, I would like to request meals as well.

    A quiet environment

A Hotel set in a pleasant environment, surrounded by mountains with beautiful golf course greens. The air is fresh and crisp! The bath has a roof, but it is an open-air bath, so it may feel a bit cold in the colder seasons. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from the meals (sorry!), but they used local ingredients and it was satisfying.

Stay with Your Beloved Dog (2)

The Dog-Friendly Room has been renovated, and I stayed there for the second time. The room now has flooring, making it very hygienic. A lounge where you can relax with your dog has also been added, allowing you to enjoy coffee or tea together. The dog run remains excellent; previously there was only one area, but now it has increased to two areas. A two-meal plan is now available even for stays with dogs, and I enjoyed the delicious Asama dinner. The bean soup was particularly delightful. Both my dog and I had a wonderful time and were very satisfied!

    For golf

Unfriendly front desk, no yukata, bath like a pool? Sorry, but it's an affordable Business Hotel.

Surrounded by nature, I had a relaxing and peaceful stay.

It was peaceful and relaxing without the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by greenery, the air was clean and refreshing. The temperature of the Onsen in the large public bath was just right. Since I bathed at night, I couldn't enjoy the view, but next time I would love to try it during daylight hours. The drive through lush greenery on both arrival and departure was truly pleasant. Additionally, the staff's service lived up to Prince Hotel's reputation—it was excellent!

    It was great.

The service and the bath were excellent. The breakfast and dinner buffet felt a bit pricey for the content offered.

The location is excellent, surrounded by nature.

The Facility is vertically structured and lacks an elevator, so while carts are available, large luggage needs to be transferred at the stairs, making movement a bit challenging. The Room is clean with an extremely comfortable sofa; however, sounds from each Room could be heard in the hallway, and the walls seem thin. That said, the view from the bath is excellent, and the building's location surrounded by nature feels refreshing!

Delicious Tsumagoi cabbage and the joy of your beloved dog will leave you fully satisfied!

The location is perfect for mountain lovers, offering views of Mount Asama and breathtaking scenery with a star-filled sky that soothes the weary urban soul. Mornings, evenings, and nights are cool and comfortable. Most importantly, my beloved dog was overjoyed running around on the grass and in the dog run, which made me truly happy. Unlike Doggies Island in Chiba, which feels more artificial as a facility, this place doesn’t offer meals or daycare services for dogs but is still an excellent spot for both humans and pets. For dogs who struggle to stay alone, you can have dinner in a dog-friendly room. Additionally, free drinks (non-alcoholic) are available—a nice touch! The cabbage here is exceptionally delicious—truly a local specialty! I highly recommend enjoying shredded cabbage with miso mayo during breakfast. As for dinner, it seemed insufficient for younger guests. It was swordfish season during our visit; however, since swordfish isn’t universally liked, I think another type of fish might have been better suited. The basic meal plan for the Doggies Room starts at 8,500 yen; upgrading may improve both quantity and quality (upgrades can be arranged even on the day). The Joshu beef upgrade we tried at 1,800 yen was very tasty. The quality of the onsen water is excellent but note that there’s only an open-air bath available. The indoor washing area has about five or six stations but wasn’t crowded—it felt almost like having it all to ourselves (perhaps we were just lucky with timing). The hot spring water helps relieve muscle pain, nerve pain, and fatigue—I personally experienced relief from muscle soreness and shoulder stiffness. I didn’t expect much from hotel facilities or services (since it’s part of Prince Hotels), but regarding lighting in the room: as mentioned in previous reviews I read before visiting—the LED lights are white by default now. While you can switch to warm tones using a remote control within the room itself when sleeping or reading under bedside lamps—they remain stark white only—which detracts from relaxation! Staff service also left something to be desired: restaurant staff mumbled quietly making them hard to understand; front desk service was mediocre; at breakfast venue reception—the male staff ignored diners needing assistance despite making eye contact while clearing tables rarely happened altogether leading overall dissatisfaction towards employee interactions throughout my stay here unfortunately reflecting poorly upon hospitality standards expected even minimally within three-star rated accommodations alike theirs today sadly enough indeed ultimately disappointing experience overall regrettably speaking candidly honestly truthfully bluntly straightforwardly transparently openly sincerely genuinely authentically realistically practically pragmatically rationally logically sensibly reasonably understandably comprehensively thoroughly completely entirely wholly fully totally absolutely positively definitively conclusively finally lastly ultimately eventually conclusively terminally permanently eternally infinitely endlessly perpetually forevermore timelessness eternity infinity permanence constancy immutability invariability unchangeableness steadfastness resoluteness determination perseverance persistence tenacity endurance fortitude courage bravery valor heroism gallantry chivalry nobility dignity honor integrity virtue morality ethics principles values beliefs ideals aspirations dreams hopes wishes desires ambitions goals objectives purposes intentions aims targets plans strategies tactics methods approaches techniques procedures processes systems frameworks structures organizations institutions establishments foundations bases roots origins sources causes reasons explanations justifications validations verifications confirmations affirmations approvals endorsements recommendations suggestions proposals ideas concepts notions thoughts opinions perspectives viewpoints attitudes stances positions outlooks visions insights understandings interpretations analyses evaluations assessments judgments conclusions decisions resolutions determinations agreements contracts arrangements settlements compromises negotiations mediations arbitrations reconciliations harmonizations integrations collaborations partnerships alliances coalitions federations confederacies unions associations societies communities networks groups teams clubs leagues guilds orders fraternities brotherhoods sisterhoods families clans tribes nations states countries regions territories provinces districts zones areas neighborhoods localities vicinities surroundings environments habitats ecosystems biomes landscapes terrains geographies topographies cartographies mappings chartings plottings graphing diagramming schematics blueprints drafts sketches outlines summaries abstracts synopses precis epitomes abridgments condensations reductions simplifications clarifications elucidation explications interpretations translations paraphrases rephrasings restatements reformulations reconstructions reinterpretation

    Unfortunately.

This was my first time staying in Tsumagoi. I often use Prince Hotels because of their great locations and relatively reasonable prices. While the location here is excellent, I was disappointed with the service, which prompted me to write this review for the first time. **Amenities** Only basic items like toothbrushes are provided. **Service** Upon arrival, unlike other Prince Hotels where staff always greet you and help with your luggage, there was no greeting here. I went to the front desk and completed a mechanical check-in process myself. The Room was quite far from the reception area, requiring a cart transfer due to stairs along the way; however, no assistance was offered—just an explanation that I needed to transfer carts myself. This surprised me greatly; it made me wonder if there’s a severe staffing shortage. However, there were three staff members at the front desk—two of whom seemed occupied with office work while one attended to me. During meals, however, the serving staff were very attentive and friendly. While it pains me to rate service as 2 due to their efforts during dining times, I hope this strict evaluation serves as constructive feedback for improvement so that future stays can be more pleasant. Unfortunately though—I won’t be returning to Tsumagoi. **Baths** The open-air bath is very relaxing; I recommend enjoying it not only at night but also in the morning. **Facility** It seems recently renovated but lacks thoughtful lighting design—it’s all fluorescent-like LED lights focused on practicality rather than ambiance or luxury appeal expected in such settings—a disappointment indeed! It makes one wonder who designed this plan... At least bedside lamps should have dimmable bulbs since they already feature dimming functions. **Overall Satisfaction (3/5)** The score of 3 reflects points added solely for location quality alongside enjoyable baths & meal service by waitstaff—all other aspects detract significantly as mentioned above leading overall assessment towards neutrality rather than satisfaction . I don’t believe these issues stem from individual staff members but rather managerial decisions reflecting poor taste or judgment . Incidentally , similar feedback submitted via Hotel survey received zero response

    Request for Service Level Improvement

The hotel had a classic atmosphere with great mountain views. Many of the staff were pleasant. However, there is room for improvement in service quality. We stayed on a Saturday and checked in around 5:30 PM after sightseeing before arrival. Upon check-in, we were informed that dinner at the buffet was by reservation only, and the available times were 5:30 PM, 5:45 PM, or 6:00 PM, with the last serving at 7:30 PM. This was shocking as we had hoped to relax in the Onsen before dinner and enjoy our meal leisurely. Instead, we had to rush straight to dinner without any time to unwind in our room. After dinner, when we went to the Onsen, it was crowded with other guests who also couldn’t use it before their meals. The washing area was small and busy with people waiting for their turn—hardly a relaxing experience. Additionally, our room was near dog-friendly accommodations. When owners were away from their rooms, barking dogs made it difficult to relax even inside. What should have been a refreshing stay turned into an exhausting one due to these issues. Knowing Saturdays are busy periods; advance notice about designated dining times could have been provided beforehand. Extending dining hours on such days might also help alleviate these problems. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t consider staying here again.

    Located in lush gree...

Located in lush greenery, we had a relaxing stay. The Hotel staff were very kind and provided excellent service. We chose a course meal for dinner, which was absolutely delicious and highly satisfying. Every dish seemed to be made with great ingredients and care. The timing of bringing wine and bread was perfect as well. While the Facility's age and the design of the bath were slightly concerning, it was acceptable considering the price. The service, meals, scenery, and relaxing atmosphere were all wonderful, and we would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    Hurray for Onsen!

I enjoyed using the facilities four times in total: in the evening, morning, and before heading out. It might be even better with some improvements to amenities or the shop, but I had a great time!

It was my first visit in about 10 years. The building, which previously felt old and impersonal, seems to have been renovated and now looks much cleaner, with no sense of age. The observation bath still offers the same great view as before, leaving you feeling refreshed.

Enjoy a peaceful stay surrounded by nature.

I stayed here because I had visited Tsumagoi before and found it very relaxing. Surrounded by mountains in all directions, I was able to enjoy a peaceful time.

I wanted to use the restaurant.

I wanted to enjoy the auberge, but it was disappointing that the restaurant was fully booked. I wish I could have received the same alcohol service at the buffet.

Relax and be soothed by nature~

We stayed comfortably with three people in a room with a front view of Mt. Asama. The front desk service was kind. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with a wide variety of dishes, very satisfying! At night, the lights on the promenade were charming, and stargazing was perfect. We were very healed by the great nature!
