    Hakodate Station Shuttle Service

I stayed for one night. I really appreciated being able to use the free shuttle bus from Hakodate Station to the Hotel. The guest room and Facility are a bit dated, but nothing particularly bothered me. Because the buffet was crowded with an Asian tour group, I was grateful that a separate room was provided for Japanese guests.

It may have been a Hotel geared toward international travelers.

I was staying in Sapporo for a summer trip, but my return flight was canceled due to a typhoon, so I decided to extend my stay in Hakodate at the last minute and head home by Shinkansen. During the summer vacation season when many places were fully booked, this Hotel had good Reviews and still had availability even the day before, so I chose to stay here. The building is undeniably old, but it was well cleaned and left a good impression. However, there were no basic amenities such as facial toner or men’s razors, and when I asked at the front desk, I was coldly told to buy them at the shop, which really surprised me. The front desk staff who helped us on the first day didn’t smile and seemed to provide only minimal scripted service, which was very disappointing. The next morning we wanted a slower start, so my family had the breakfast buffet. The woman who showed us to our table was very pleasant, and I felt comfortable taking our seats. The breakfast area was spacious with a nice view, but the selection of dishes was just okay (maybe my expectations were too high after having great breakfasts in Sapporo...). What made me happiest were the onigiri rice balls hand-formed by an older lady. We chatted briefly while choosing fillings—just a small interaction, but it made me feel warmly welcomed. My child (3 years old) seemed to love the mini pancakes that cook automatically one by one. It wasn’t until we got to the breakfast area that I noticed there were many foreign guests (Korean and Chinese), and for a moment it almost didn’t feel like we were in Japan. A few people stayed on phone calls during their meal, but overall they seemed calm and well behaved. When we left for our journey home, the front desk staff assisted us with smiles and it felt very pleasant. If you ask whether I would want to stay again next time I visit Hakodate, I’d have to think about it—but since this is such a wonderful location surrounded by nature, I feel this could become an even better Hotel depending on how staff interact with guests. Even if you say the same thing, sincerity and wording can completely change how it comes across. I hope this becomes an even more welcoming Hotel filled with smiles.

    The mountainside Roo...

The mountainside Room we stayed in offered an amazing view of Mt. Komagatake through the large windows. The separate vanity area was conveniently laid out, but I was concerned that the slippers, although disinfected, still had a lot of lint stuck to them. The large public bath was constantly crowded and difficult to use, but the view of the pond from the open-air bath was lovely. The buffet restaurant had tables packed tightly into a large venue and was extremely crowded with guests from Korea. Even on the way back, the shuttle bus was switched to a larger coach for a Korean tour group, making it clear how much the hotel is supported by Korean guests.

    Family Trip

I made a Reservation because I wanted to stay at this Hotel again for the first time in over 30 years. It has certainly aged, but being surrounded by forest was so relaxing—morning walks, spotting a red fox, and soaking in the open-air bath. The kind lady who made onigiri at the breakfast venue warmed my heart. When she said, “I stuffed it so full the filling might spill out, but it’s delicious,” I couldn’t help but laugh. She also spoke kindly to my son and his wife, which was very comforting. Thank you very much. We had a wonderful family trip.

    Excellent value for money!

While it’s a bit old and doesn’t have the latest facilities, the building, baths, and guest rooms were kept very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The open-air bath was especially wonderful! It takes just under 30 minutes from central Hakodate, but the scenery is beautiful and the air is fresh. A comfortable stay at a low price—an Accommodation with excellent value for money. Highly recommended. We even saw a stag beetle!

    A Wonderful Time

I chose the Onuma Prince Hotel for my friend visiting from afar. They were delighted, saying they could relax, fully enjoy the Onsen, and sleep well—it was wonderful. I’m grateful for the staff’s warm smiles and kind service.

    - Breakfast is quite disappointing. It’s underwhelming even for one meal, and having it for multiple days in a row is tough (charging an extra JPY 3,200 is hard to justify). - The bath has a great view and is enjoyable, but it would be helpful to have towels available there (it’s a long walk back to the Room if you forget). - Please consider adding electric bicycles to the rental options (the surrounding area is large, so getting around with a standard bike can be quite demanding). - The Room is decent—nothing particularly bad, and generally comfortable to stay in.

    Many international guests stay here.

The dinner buffet started with kimchi, and the other dishes were also Korean-style, but it was not tasty.

A quiet Hotel in the forest

This Hotel offers a very relaxing stay. You can enjoy views of Mt. Komagatake and the forest from the window.

    An excellent setting and location,

It’s an excellent setting and location for sightseeing around Onuma. I love the very relaxing, calm atmosphere. There is also an Onsen with great views. Personally, it would be even better if there were a sauna as well. By chance, the night I stayed was very clear, and I was moved by the beautiful starry sky visible from my Room. It’s also extremely convenient for ski trips—about a 20-minute drive to Nanae Snow Park.

Winter at Onuma is the best!

Last year, I stayed here because I wanted to try ice fishing for wakasagi. There is a pond called Junsainuma about 5 minutes away by car where you can fish for wakasagi, and it had a great atmosphere with mostly locals. I went wakasagi fishing three times during my stay. Since there is a shuttle bus from the Hotel to Onuma Quasi-National Park, I was also able to visit the snow festival held at the park and fully enjoy Onuma with the giant slide and Numaya’s dango. I fell in love with winter in Onuma and this was my second visit this year. This time I rented a car, which expanded my range of activities, and I also went skiing. Seeing the snow monsters at Nanae Snow Park was an amazing memory. This time, I invited another family to come with us, and they arranged Rooms close to each other so we could have a great time together. Around the Hotel you can also enjoy sledding and slides, and we had fun roasting marshmallows at the ice bar. The open-air bath while watching the snow was so relaxing—you can have plenty of fun even just staying at the Hotel! We chose a 4-night stay with breakfast-and-dinner buffet included, so dinner started to feel a bit repetitive, but the food is very delicious. I want to come every year. I heard summer is peak season, but winter is highly recommended too.

    A Must-Visit Wonderful Hotel

Hakodate-Onuma Prince Hotel is a wonderful hotel that I visit multiple times a year. You can enjoy the breathtaking view of the beautiful Mt. Komagatake from your room, the breakfast area, and even the open-air onsen. Just this view alone is truly healing. For breakfast, you can create your own seafood bowl with unlimited salmon roe, and the homemade rice balls are incredibly delicious. The menu is diverse and satisfying in every way. The onsen water feels silky smooth, with excellent temperature control. The view from the open-air bath is also spectacular. The rooms are always clean and well-maintained, ensuring a good night's sleep every time. Above all else, the polite and sincere service provided by all staff members offers great peace of mind. Although it’s a bit far away, I find myself planning my next stay as soon as I check out! It’s also delightful that the shuttle bus to the airport becomes free if reserved at least three days in advance. I look forward to staying again soon! Thank you very much!

    The course meals are delicious.

The building is not new, but it was well-maintained and clean. We enjoyed a course meal for dinner, which was beautifully presented and delicious. The season was perfect, and the walking path offered stunning views of autumn leaves reflected in the pond. As there were many group guests, it was necessary to adjust the timing to avoid crowded baths.

    A Must-Visit Accommodation

I have stayed here multiple times. The room offers a magnificent view of Mt. Komagatake, and the open-air bath facing the pond leaves your skin feeling smooth. In the main dining area, you can enjoy your meal while admiring the breathtaking view of Mt. Komagatake. The rooms are always impeccably clean, and the beds are extremely comfortable to sleep in. The warm smiles and kind words from all staff members provide a truly relaxing experience in every way. This hotel is so charming that I feel unsettled if I don't visit for half a year. The only regret this time was having to cut my walk short due to caution about bears. I greatly appreciated that the bus from Hakodate Airport to the hotel became free with prior reservation—it was very helpful! I hope this system continues in the future. I look forward to staying again soon, next time for a multiple night stay to fully enjoy my time at this hotel. Thank you for taking care of me during this stay as well!

I still fondly remember relaxing while gazing at Mt. Komagatake in summer through the large window of my room. Everyone—from the front desk staff to the team in the main dining room and the bakery—was cheerful, refreshing, and kind, which made my stay both enjoyable and reassuring. The surrounding nature was also wonderful, so I’d love to visit again in a different season.

In the future, we would like to avoid booking during corporate club training camp seasons!

Based on the photos of the Komagatake Corner Twin shown on IKYU, I assumed the Room would offer views of both the mountains and the lake, so I stayed in a Komagatake Corner Twin. However, there was no view of either, which was very disappointing. In addition, about five Rooms next to mine and about five Rooms across from mine were being used for a training camp by a track-and-field team (I later learned it was a corporate team, and I was shocked by their lack of manners). On rainy days, they dried wet training sneakers for long periods in the hallway using portable dryers, and the hallway filled with the smell. They also ran up and down the long corridor as if it were indoor training space. It was so unpleasant that it felt like I had paid money only to be placed in a training camp facility. If I was going to be surrounded by so many Rooms used for a camp like this, I would have wanted to be informed in advance. Had I known, I could have requested a Room farther away from the group or made a Reservation for a standard type Room instead—so this was very disappointing. Regarding manners, I understand there may be limits to what can be done even if reported to the Hotel; however, as the party accepting such groups, I believe it is necessary for both sides to confirm minimum rules of conduct toward other guests before allowing camp use. The staff at the dining venue and at the bakery were extremely kind, and the Onsen was wonderful—so next time, I hope to stay while avoiding periods when camps are taking place.

The dinner is exceptionally delicious and highly satisfying.

This area is attractive with Komagatake and Onuma Park. The presence of an Onsen is also a delightful feature. The restaurant's service and dinner are highly satisfying. The bread from the bakery is also delicious. It would be wonderful to visit during the season when the weeping cherry blossoms bloom.

    Bicycle Rental

You can explore the area, but the bicycles provided are not electric-assisted. The nearby roads are quite hilly (even going to Onuma Park Station), which might be challenging for those who don't usually ride bicycles. We kindly suggest considering the introduction of electric-assisted bicycles. Additionally, the route suggested by Google Maps to Onuma Park Station led through a golf course and was inaccessible. We had meals during our stay, but there is nothing particular to comment on regarding them.

Not just for group guests—let's make the most of it!

I stayed for two nights to enjoy the scenery of Nisei Snow Park and the snowy landscape. Thanks to this, I was able to enjoy skiing, relieve muscle pain in the Onsen, play in the snow, and even work on Zoom comfortably. Additionally, a group from a certain country visited during my stay. Fortunately, separate tables were arranged for breakfast, which I appreciated. To avoid overlapping with their use of the bath facilities, I used them during dinner hours and was able to relax peacefully. The building and Facility have a retro Showa-era feel; however, the surrounding environment is truly blessed. With some creativity in how you use it, there are plenty of opportunities to fully enjoy your stay here.

It was a Hotel where I wanted to extend my stay.

Although we checked in later than planned, the night illumination and autumn leaves were very beautiful upon arrival. We were smoothly guided and were able to enjoy the Onsen. The view from the open-air bath was exceptionally beautiful. The view from the Room was also nice, and the bed was very comfortable; my child said they wanted to stay a little longer. We learned that you can see Shimaenaga in winter, and my child said they want to visit again in winter, so we hope to come back soon.

Completely satisfied with the breathtaking view

First stay Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and had a pleasant check-in. The view of Mt. Komagatake from the room and the autumn leaves from the bath... We took a walk around the hotel... It's a bit far from Onuma Park and the facilities are a bit concerning, but the time flows leisurely, and we were very satisfied. It's a long way, but if we have the chance to go again, we would like to visit this hotel again.

    The view was amazing.

The view of Mount Komagatake from the room window, the view from the breakfast restaurant, and the serene lakeside scenery from the open-air bath were all wonderful. However, the building's age, the neglected state of the open-air bath, the unpleasantness of soap suds from the next stall flowing into the washing area, and the hallway carpets stained all over were disappointing. It would be nice if renovations were made gradually to improve comfort. Also, the dinner options are limited to either a course meal or a buffet, both of which are unusually expensive. There is no convenient room service available. The breakfast was delicious, and the service was friendly.

We also recommend it when you visit Hakodate.

There was a day without meals this time, so although it was a Multiple Night Stay, I used it with a reservation for multiple Plans. The view from the dining venue is magnificent (the seating arrangement is unique), and the view from the Room is also green, allowing for a comfortable stay. Thank you.

I was able to have a comfortable stay with No Meals Included without any issues.

There is a bakery a few minutes' walk on the premises (although many items were sold out when I went around 2 PM), and there is also a convenience store in the building with various items, so I chose No Meals Included due to scheduling constraints, but it was not a problem. There was ramen available during bar time after dinner, but unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry and couldn't eat it. It was not as far from Hakodate as I thought, and the shuttle bus runs on time, so I think it can be used when going to Hakodate.
