    Akita Whirlwind Trip

    Thank you for taking care of us for our 1-night, 2-day stay. Although it was a short visit, we were able to relax in a wonderful atmosphere. The complimentary drinks in the lounge were especially appreciated during the summer. The Room also had a great view, and we were moved by the sunrise over the sea. It was fun being able to choose a yukata, and we were happy there was a basket bag for the bath. The meal was very luxurious and satisfying as well. The Namahage drum performance is a must-see. Next time, I hope to bring my parents with me. Thank you very much.

    The Room, bath, and meals were all great!

    The Room was a beautifully renovated guest room with an open-air bath, and I was happy to be able to relax and enjoy the Onsen in the Room as well. The staff were very courteous, and we had a comfortable stay. Dinner was delicious, featuring mainly seafood. We also really enjoyed watching the explanation and live demonstration of Oga Peninsula’s specialty stone-grilled dish. Breakfast was a buffet, and everything was tasty—we were completely full. It was a bit of a long trip, but we made wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

    A hearty hot-stone grill, and ingredients for the hot pot include

    The Room’s powder room is spacious and convenient, with two sinks. The semi-open-air bath in the Room has lattice louvers that let you adjust ventilation, but if you don’t open them, steam builds up—so we ended up leaving it half open at all times. As a result, various insects came in due to the season. If you dislike insects, it may be safer to stay in a different season. My husband was not happy about the four steps down to the bathtub and the step/level difference in the tatami area of the Room. He tripped several times, so I feel safety measures are needed. The Room we stayed in was just the right size for two people, very well cleaned, and comfortable and satisfying for me. For meals, we chose the Plan with teppanyaki featuring Akita beef and Hinai-jidori chicken. However, since it was described as “Teppanyaki of ‘Akita beef’ and ‘Hinai-jidori chicken’ included with standard dishes!”, we expected teppanyaki would be added on top of what seems to be included in the standard Plan (such as a small hot pot). In reality, it appeared to be served as a replacement for Akita beef and Hinai-jidori chicken rather than an additional item. It was confusing, so I would appreciate it if the description could be reviewed. The stone hot pot demonstration was informative and enjoyable. We were told that because the temperature is too high only ingredients that won’t melt can be added, but I felt the ingredients looked rather sparse. Overall, I found both the quantity and quality of the meal somewhat lacking. All staff provided excellent service. These are personal impressions for your reference.

    The meals were delicious.

    It was a clean Hotel, and the staff were very helpful. There was also self-service coffee and other drinks in the lobby. Women could choose a colorful yukata as well. The meals were luxurious and delicious—especially the simmered sea bream head, which was outstanding. The bath area was clean and nice, but it would have been more convenient if face towels were provided there, even if guests are expected to bring bath towels from their Room.

    Gently flavored dishes

    I received a call because I had missed dinner time—there was a live “stone-grilling” demonstration. I managed to make it in time and watch. The freshly prepared miso soup was also very gently flavored and delicious. Overall, every dish was mild and comforting, and I ended up eating more than usual. The fish was excellent raw, as well as grilled, simmered, or served as tempura.

    The Room is spacious.

    This time, we were able to stay at a reasonable price by using the Akita Discount. With the savings, we made a Reservation for a larger Room. Not only was the Room spacious, but the amenities were also well stocked, so I enjoyed taking several baths. At the dining venue, there were friendly people who were easy to talk to, and I had a great time.

    Stunning views

    I stayed on the top floor of Akita Vision! It was an open and airy Room, yet somehow very calming. The bed was spacious and incredibly comfortable! Seeing the sunrise was truly moving. The meals were gentle on the stomach and very satisfying. The staff were kind, and it’s an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

    Bathroom

    The semi-open-air bath attached to the Room is spacious with a great view and is wonderful, but unfortunately there was no wash basin or bucket, which made it extremely inconvenient.

    Highly recommended.

    We stayed here for a family trip. The food was delicious, and the view from our Room was wonderful. The Room had been renovated and was very comfortable—this was an Accommodation we were truly satisfied with for the first time in a while. It made our trip to Akita a memorable one. Thank you very much.

    It was disappointing not to be able to see the Namahage drum performance.

    The exterior reflects the rugged natural setting along the coastline, so I wasn’t sure at first—but once inside, it was a very clean and beautiful Hotel. A vacuum-tube amplifier and DIATONE speakers create a wonderfully niche audio setup that plays pleasant music. At night they light the fireplace with firewood, so you can relax and listen to music. I wish there were a welcome bar. (There is a drink bar.) The Onsen had great water that left me feeling warm and cozy. Dinner was partly buffet-style. There was also an Ishiyaki hot pot show, which was fun. All of the staff were welcoming and kind, and I was able to truly unwind. This isn’t related to the Hotel, but I wanted to see Namahage drumming with an evening Shuttle Service bus—however, it seems to be held mostly on weekends. Since there appear to be several groups, I hope it will be available every day.

    For couples

    We visited during a snowstorm. In winter, the accommodation does not take full-open reservations, so it was calm without being too crowded or noisy. The room was the "Akita Bijon Room," which was spacious with a great view, and we were very satisfied. If I had to point out something, I would suggest using curtains instead of roller blinds in winter as it can get quite cold. The meals didn’t have any standout dishes but everything was delicious. The bath area was spacious, and my favorite part was the reclining bath. My wife and I talked about definitely visiting again in summer!

    I had a very relaxing stay.

    It was my first visit. The lobby had a fireplace, and I could relax while listening to the crackling sound of the firewood, watching the flames, and enjoying soothing music. The availability of coffee and detox water was truly appreciated. The meals were enjoyable with live hot stone cooking demonstrations, and the simmered sea bream head was absolutely delicious. The staff's hospitality and kind interactions made my stay very pleasant. It would be wonderful if there were a sauna in the women's bath area. I hope to come back for a Multiple Night Stay next time!

    Excellent hospitality.

    From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, this was an exceptional accommodation. Although the building appeared a bit old in photos, it had been beautifully renovated inside, impeccably clean, and extremely comfortable. The hotel staff were all smiles and provided outstanding service, making me truly glad I chose this accommodation. The meals were not overly luxurious but featured local ingredients served at the perfect temperature—hot dishes hot and cold dishes cold—and the live kitchen added an enjoyable touch. The dining area was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Breakfast was also highly satisfying. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    Enjoy the Oga Peninsula

    Stayed as a couple for sightseeing on the Oga Peninsula. The room with an ocean view offered an amazing scenery. The meals were delightful and enjoyable, featuring a buffet with sushi and tempura, as well as a local dish performance using heated stones. The ryokan staff informed us that the sunset couldn't be seen from the room, so we drove about 8 minutes to Cape Nyudozaki near sunset time, and it was worth the visit. The sunrise can be fully enjoyed from the bed in the room.

    We fully enjoyed Oga.

    The staff at the accommodation were truly kind and attentive, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant holiday. The meals, including stone-grilled dishes, were filled with fresh seafood from the Oga Peninsula and were highly satisfying. The sunrise over the Shirakami Mountains and the views of the Sea of Japan were breathtaking. The recommended Namahage drum performance and the scenery from Mount Kanpu were also exceptional, making this trip an unforgettable experience.

    Completely satisfied with everything.

    This was my first stay, and I was completely satisfied with everything. The staff's attentiveness was exceptional, and the indoor bath was simply amazing! The spacious and open atmosphere of the bath allowed me to fully relax both body and mind. The meals were plentiful, featuring seasonal tempura, and the stone-grilled soup event was incredibly enjoyable. I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

    Excellent service and delicious cuisine.

    The service from check-in to check-out was excellent. The sea bream head simmered dish for dinner was delicious, and the local cuisine "Mizu" served at breakfast was also delightful. The sunrise over the Sea of Japan, as seen from the Room, is a unique experience here. I had a mysterious experience.

    Full of satisfaction

    I visited based on everyone's reviews and had a wonderful time with excellent service. The meals were not only delicious but also offered options to adjust portions according to individual appetites, which I believe helps reduce food waste. The women's changing room was spacious and well-maintained. On top of that, the cost performance was outstanding, making me feel that the management and staff are putting in great efforts.

    The open-air bath in the Room is excellent.

    We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, one of only 4 rooms available. It was newly built in March and was very clean and comfortable. The meals were just the right amount, neither too much nor too little.

    Enjoyed the breathtaking views of the Sea of Japan!

    The Akita Vision Room offered a stunning view of the Sea of Japan. The entire facility was clean, and the staff were extremely kind, making for a wonderful stay. Thank you very much. The live performance of stone-grilled cooking during dinner was enjoyable. I had always wanted to try it when visiting Oga, so my wish came true!

    Very satisfied

    Spacious room with a semi-open-air bath was very satisfying. I didn't visit the large public bath, so I couldn't reflect it in the survey. The meals were delicious, showcasing excellent corporate effort. Although I thought it was a bit far, after visiting, I feel like going again.

    The stage was amazing.

    The Jawameki Night was wonderful, but the performance of "Kokoro" on the shinobue by Kato Haruka during the Tsugaru Shamisen live deeply touched my heart. Thank you very much.

    First Visit to Oga Peninsula

    I contacted the accommodation via email beforehand as I was not accustomed to snowy roads, and received a very polite response. I was informed that the Oga Peninsula surprisingly has little snow. On the day of my stay, there was snow around but none on the roads, allowing me to arrive safely. The fireplace in the lobby and Namahage figures warmly welcomed me. In the lobby, I could relax while listening to wonderful music. Dinner and everything else were delicious, and I enjoyed the live performance of their specialty stone-grilled pot dish—it tasted absolutely amazing. The room surely would have offered beautiful views of the sea and mountains if not for the unfortunate weather, which was my only regret. It’s an accommodation I’d love to visit again during a greener season next time. Thank you for your hospitality!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    The stone-grilled dinner, including the simmered sea bream, and the breakfast were all incredibly delicious. The staff were very attentive and kind, making our stay truly wonderful. The next morning, one of my companions felt unwell due to an allergy, but the staff took great care of us, even calling an ambulance. We are deeply grateful for their support. We would love to visit again!

    You can enjoy a view of the Oga Peninsula.

    Stayed in a corner room. The room offered a truly spectacular view, with large glass windows overlooking the Sea of Japan and Mount Kanpu, wind turbines lined up along the coast (beautifully lit at night), and even a distant view of Mount Chokai. The special room, the interior, the lobby floor, and the large public bath have all been renovated and are very beautiful. You can feel the good taste of the interior renovation throughout the property. The onsen water is pH 7, moderately mild, and if you stay in for a long time, it makes your skin smooth and effective. Unfortunately, the outdoor bath was only half-filled with water for some reason. The scent of osmanthus is pleasant. After dinner, a free shuttle bus is available to take you to the Gofu Taiko drum live performance (a few minutes by car), and the driver, an elderly gentleman, was soothing with his polite language and demeanor. All the other staff also provided wonderful hospitality. The meal was disappointing as everything set on the table was dry and stale. The open kitchen sushi (sashimi and vinegared rice), tempura, and tempura sauce were also mediocre. The sake tasting offered similar flavors, so it might be worth reconsidering the sake lineup. If the serving method, taste balance, and seasonings used are properly improved, this property could become even more popular! It's a shame that dinner lowers the evaluation, which feels like a waste. The stone-grilled soup demonstration and explanation are enjoyable, and the freshly made hot soup is delicious. The simmered sea bream head and sea bream rice are particularly delicious. The sea bream dishes make you want to eat them again! Thank you for the meal.
