My wife was also very satisfied with our stay. We’ll be back!!

The Facility was very luxurious yet refined and relaxing. The hospitality was excellent, and the meals were truly delicious. The Onsen water was clear and colorless, but it lived up to its reputation as one of Japan’s Three Famous Hot Springs, said to have been favored by Masamune Date. It doesn’t make you overheat easily and keeps you warm for a long time—an exceptional spring quality that warmed both body and mind and soothed me deeply. Next time, I would love to stay in a Room with a private open-air bath. I will definitely return.

Thank you for a wonderful time.

The beautiful Japanese garden, the impeccably maintained traditional building, and above all, the staff’s attentive service and thoughtful care made this a truly memorable Accommodation. I stayed with my elderly parents, and thanks to your considerate support, we were able to spend our time comfortably. Dinner began with refreshing summer appetizers, followed by fresh sashimi, a small hot pot with eel, and Sendai beef sirloin—each served in just the right portions and thoroughly enjoyed. The handmade soy milk hot pot at breakfast was also healthy and delicious. At first the open-air bath in our room felt a bit hot, but it soon became wonderfully soothing, and I could tell it was high-quality Onsen water. My parents were very happy as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    Garden and Dining Area

An Accommodation with excellent maintenance—both the spacious Room and the large glass windows along the corridors are spotless. It’s a shame you can’t walk around the garden, but there are many magnificent trees, including Japanese maples, making it more than enough to enjoy viewing. All staff provide outstanding hospitality.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay in the beautiful garden and spacious surroundings.

The shared areas such as the entrance, hallways, and stairs were spacious and well cleaned, so we had a very comfortable stay, though the carpet stains were a bit noticeable. Also, having music-box BGM in the lounge we were first shown to felt somewhat dated; I think classical music would be better. At the time of our Reservation, we were told the Shuttle Service would depart at 9:30, but at checkout we learned that since it departs from a sister Hotel, they could still take us even around 9:50. I wish this had been explained at check-in. Even though we were staying at such a nice Accommodation, using the Shuttle Service made departure feel quite rushed. When passing staff in the hallways and other areas, they stopped to greet us properly, which showed excellent training. Considering the variety and generous portions of the meals, free drinks in the refrigerator, the overall spaciousness and relaxed atmosphere, and the beautiful garden, I felt it was very reasonably priced.

    A Luxurious Space

As I was traveling with my mother, who is unsteady on her feet and has a poor sense of direction, we chose a Room with an open-air bath. Because it was a bath in the Room, she could enjoy the Onsen with peace of mind, and it was absolutely the right choice. The guest Room was converted from a tea room and is completely detached, so we were able to relax at our own pace. It was sunny, but the sunlight filtered onto the veranda just perfectly; you can lie down there and enjoy the refreshing air. Both dinner and breakfast are so elaborate that it feels wasteful to leave anything behind, so it’s probably best not to have lunch. The cakes at the shop are delicious—I’d almost like to order them for delivery.

    Accommodation with a Beautiful Garden

The detached Room with a private open-air bath overlooking the beautiful inner courtyard was spacious and spotless, and I spent a long, truly luxurious time sitting on the veranda. The hospitality was so attentive that it almost made me feel undeserving—everyone was exceptionally courteous. I especially appreciated the thoughtful check-ins and kind words. The Room had plenty of yukata and towels prepared, and even at the large public bath everything—including towels—was provided, so I was happy I could go without bringing anything. The meals were delicious as well, enjoyed while looking out over the expansive garden from the dining area. The many fresh flower arrangements displayed throughout were also wonderful and a delight to see. It was an almost perfectly flawless Accommodation (close to 100%), but I’d like to share just a few small thoughts: 1) Please switch the men’s and women’s sides of the large public bath in the morning. 2) Please provide hand soap and a towel at the sink in the Room’s toilet area. 3) There were quite a lot of fish dishes, so perhaps reduce one item (on this day, maybe something like teriyaki salmon?) and make the initial hassun course more impactful. These are all just my personal wishes… Breakfast was perfect in every way! It was truly such a pleasant Accommodation. Staying here gave me a new goal: I’d love to build a single-story home like this Room when I’m older!

Thank you for having us again after 10 years.

I visited again for the first time in 10 years, and the corridor leading from the lobby to the guest rooms and the beautiful garden welcomed me just as beautifully as ever. The relaxing room and the wonderful cuisine that brings out the best of its ingredients were just as excellent. I would definitely like to visit again.

    Escape the hustle and bustle...

Even though it was a holiday period, I was able to spend my time quietly with hardly anyone around. However, for this price range, it may be unusual that there is no lounge access at all...

A truly wonderful, luxurious Accommodation where you can enjoy a happy time

I had heard this was the finest Ryokan in the prefecture, so I arrived with high expectations—and it exceeded them, giving me a truly wonderful and happy stay. The spacious, beautiful garden and the inviting entrance and corridors are thoughtfully designed, and it’s clear they are carefully maintained to preserve their beauty. The hallways and windows were polished to a shine, which felt incredibly pleasant. All of the staff were exceptionally kind and provided warm, comfortable service. That alone makes me want to return. The cuisine, prepared with attention to every detail, was flawless in both presentation and taste. The large public bath, both the indoor bath and the open-air bath, was luxuriously made, and the water felt wonderful. The open-air bath in the Room was also spacious with plenty of hot water, and it was just as relaxing. From welcome to farewell, I was able to spend a truly happy time.

    Wonderful Accommodation

I have visited numerous Onsen accommodations before, but this is the first time I have been so deeply impressed by every aspect—meals, rooms, and service. What amazed me first was the exceptional quality of the meals. Each dish is like a piece of art that delights both the eyes and palate. The flavors are incredibly delicate, showcasing the chef's meticulous attention to detail (the Japanese confectionery with lotus root served at check-in was also exquisite). The accommodation's decor is outstanding, creating a soothing atmosphere just by being there. Above all, the hospitality of the staff is unparalleled. They maintain a perfect balance between attentiveness and discretion while anticipating guests' needs with warm and thoughtful service for which I am truly grateful. This is an extraordinary place that I would love to visit again as a reward for myself.

Accommodation with Garden, Cuisine & Hospitality

I stayed to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was also our late summer vacation, and I chose this accommodation hoping to recover from the fatigue of summer. The garden, where we could enjoy the sound of a gently flowing stream and chirping insects, was truly wonderful. We spent time on the room's veranda, gazing at the garden and listening to the stream. We enjoyed delicious meals, received kind support from the staff, and not only relaxed in the onsen but also visited a nearby gorge. At a local supermarket recommended by staff, we bought famous ohagi and local souvenirs. Since it was my husband's birthday, we were served red rice for which we are very grateful. The Matsukawa Daruma doll and papier-mâché horse from Sendai that you advised us to purchase are now proudly displayed in our home. We created such wonderful memories here and are extremely happy about it. Thank you so much!

The ultimate hospitality and a relaxing retreat

The exceptional hospitality of the staff and attendants was truly heartwarming. While the building shows some age, it has been beautifully renovated, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. We enjoyed a wonderful time in the room with an open-air bath. The meals were also satisfying. We would love to visit again!

    Family Trip

Annual 3-night, 4-day whirlwind tour This time, we chose Saryo for our second night. We stayed in a detached room with an open-air bath. The Room was perfect! It was very relaxing, and both the open-air bath and indoor bath were amazing. Dinner, however, was disappointing. Since it’s a tea ceremony inn, I thought it might be expected to some extent, but unfortunately, the taste didn’t suit us. It seemed like there weren’t enough staff because when two of us left for the restroom during dinner and returned to our seats, we found that the bowl containing ochazuke had already been placed on the table. Just as we were about to eat it—without even opening or touching it—the staff tried to clear away the bowl along with pickles! We quickly said that we hadn’t eaten yet and asked them to return it. I wondered if they were in a rush since after that incident; no one came back around much during dinner service. When leaving after barely eating anything from our meal and saying “thank you” on our way out of dining area—no one responded or appeared—which was surprising for us. For breakfast next morning: my mother hardly touched her food again while another male guest served himself rice from ohitsu (rice container) because no staff member attended nearby at all times. When asking one attendant whether things are busy—they replied affirmatively but seemed overwhelmed too initially until later conversation revealed genuine warmth behind their smile eventually making me feel supportive towards them wishing good luck ahead! Upon departure luggage assistance arrived promptly walking alongside toward parking lot where further friendly exchanges occurred leading heartfelt invitation extended warmly encouraging revisit someday soon uplifting overall impression positively higher notch altogether especially hoping same person remains part team future occasions alike! Thankful experience shared fondly appreciated end trip entirely

    A Ryokan for Adult Satisfaction

The building and facilities may feel slightly dated, but they are well-maintained and clean. The food and onsen are absolutely satisfying with no complaints. The staff are all kind and make your stay enjoyable. Next time, I would definitely like to reserve a detached room.

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

From the moment we arrived, we were delighted by the warm hospitality of the staff. The attendant assigned to us was kind and attentive until the very end—thank you so much. Both the meals and the baths were exceptional. We would love to stay here again when visiting Sendai in the future.

    Within the vast grou...

Within the vast grounds, there was a well-maintained garden and a separate Room with an open-air bath. Although it felt old, it was beautifully renovated and thoroughly cleaned. Both the Room and meals were considerate of privacy. Seasonal flowers were arranged in the alcove, along with incense burners, which conveyed a sense of hospitality. The cuisine seemed to be conscious of using local ingredients; even in mid-February, seasonal wild vegetables were used, making for a satisfying meal. As a benefit for IKYU Diamond members, two types of aperitifs and cake as dessert were served, which was appreciated. Upon arrival and departure, guests did not have to carry their luggage as all staff came out beyond the gate until the car was out of sight, showing warm attentiveness. The dining area being on the second floor required using stairs and there was quite some distance to the guest rooms; hence it wasn't barrier-free. There were places where coldness could be felt and inconveniently located power outlets for charging mobile phones in the living quarters were disappointing points.

    The meals were a bit...

The meals were a bit too much in quantity, but they were very delicious. The attendant on the first day was very attentive and discreetly looked after us. However, for my husband who has difficulty walking, the steps in the hallway were quite high, and I wished there were handrails. Also, perhaps the cleaning was not thorough, as there were a few strands of hair scattered around, and finding someone else's hair was unpleasant. Since it was winter and our feet were cold, there were tabi socks provided, but when I wanted to relax after a bath, I didn't feel like wearing the stiff tabi socks. I wished there were also more relaxed ones like the common "post-bath tabi socks."

    The best Ryokan for relaxation

This was the best Ryokan I have ever stayed at. The building features a sophisticated design with attention to detail. The spacious garden, with a stream flowing through and a few maple trees, creates a serene and calm atmosphere. The heartfelt and earnest "omotenashi" from the staff is truly soothing. The large public bath is clean, and the open-air bath with a view of the garden is a quintessential Japanese Ryokan experience. Each dish is prepared with care, but I felt sorry for leaving some food due to the large portions. It would be appreciated if there was an option to request a normal or smaller portion, and for the smaller portion, perhaps elevate the quality a notch. Overall, the experience was excellent. It surpassed the luxury Ryokans in Hakone Gora and Shuzenji, and I look forward to visiting again next year.

I found an inn with great hospitality.

I feel like I've found a comfortable inn after a long time. Since it's a two-story building, I think there are few guest rooms, but that allows for attentive hospitality. The garden is well-maintained, providing a comfortable space. The food was delicious, but perhaps the portions could be a bit smaller. Overall, it's a wonderful inn.
