    Last-minute reservations available—perfect.

Although it was a last-minute Reservation made the night before our stay, we were able to book with both dinner and breakfast included. Other Hotels did not offer dinner, so this was very helpful.

    The hot water is excellent.

The hot spring water is the best I have ever experienced. I truly recommend this Room. The meals are served in the Room, so you can enjoy them deliciously and at a relaxed pace. The illuminations were also fun and enjoyable.

    The staff were wonderful.

We stayed for 4 nights as a family of four, using this Hotel as our base for exploring Tohoku. First of all, the staff were wonderful. The daily Room cleaning was thorough, and coming back to our Room each day felt truly relaxing. Even though it was a Multiple Night Stay, breakfast was different almost every morning, and we also enjoyed that the in-room sweets were changed daily. The Onsen was very pleasant, and after the Onsen our children enjoyed playing at the festival plaza every night. They also loved feeding the koi fish. A few things we would be happy to see improved: The toilet feels old (though we appreciated the good-quality toilet paper). The curtains feel old (blackout curtains would be appreciated). We would like skincare amenities in the Room such as face wash, toner, and lotion. We would like two sets of towels—one for the Onsen and one for the bath in the Room. For an ambitious family like ours that wants to travel all around Tohoku, this is an ideal location. We highly recommend this Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Tohoku!

I was able to relax and feel refreshed.

We stayed in a Japanese-style room overlooking the garden. The view from the window felt open and relaxing, and we were able to unwind. Breakfast was not a buffet but a Japanese set meal, and everything was delicious. Thank you very much.

We visited just before the summer holiday season, and since there were fewer guests, they kindly upgraded our Room, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We had a Room with an open-air bath, so we could soak in the Onsen many times and felt truly refreshed. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we were very satisfied. The large garden was in hydrangea and rose season, so we enjoyed strolling through the beautiful grounds. It was an early summer vacation for us—thank you very much!

An Accommodation You’ll Want to Return To

We visited using the Iwate Prefecture accommodation discount. The moment we stepped inside, we were amazed by the wonderfully luxurious space. Every staff member greeted us with a warm smile and courteous service, making our stay truly heartwarming. In the lounge, guests can freely enjoy chilled juice and coffee; in particular, the cold pumpkin soup was delicious, and we went back for seconds. Both dinner and breakfast featured an abundant selection of dishes made with Iwate ingredients, all of which were excellent. After dinner, you can enjoy folk songs and mochi-pounding at the festival plaza. Guests can also join in the mochi-pounding, and we had a fun (and tasty) time together. The Onsen was clean, spacious, and wonderfully open-feeling; we enjoyed visiting multiple baths—an indoor bath, a semi-open-air bath, an open-air bath, and a private bath. The free-to-use massage chairs and post-bath ice cream were also much appreciated. The water quality was great and left our skin feeling silky smooth. The gardening park next to the Hotel is also very large: at night we relaxed while admiring the beautiful illuminations visible from our Room window, and in the morning we took a walk to enjoy seasonal flowers. We would love to visit again in a different season.

    Highly satisfied

I heard about this Hotel from a friend, and it was even better than I imagined. I was also upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath, and I was very satisfied.

Our spirit of hospitality remains unchanged.

I used to visit every year with my family, but this was my first return in about 10 years. This time I extended my trip for work, so it was also my first solo stay at this Accommodation. The Facility remains unchanged, and everything throughout the building is kept beautifully clean. The greatest feature of this Accommodation is the exceptionally high level of hospitality. I was the only solo guest in the dining area, yet the staff serving meals spoke to me from time to time so I wouldn’t feel lonely. Thanks to them, I truly enjoyed a delicious and pleasant meal. This Accommodation can be enjoyed by large groups, and also by solo travelers who love exploring. Although it is a large-scale property, it has a warmth that doesn’t make it feel that way. The mountains and greenery viewed from the open-air bath are breathtaking. Please let me visit again!

I’d love to stay here again.

Our first family trip in a year. Since we stayed after having wanko soba, we didn’t fully enjoy the delicious dinner, but we still had a great time. The Room was a special detached suite—not too large, and the in-room bath with an open-air bath was amazing! At the bingo event, our daughter won a prize. This is an Accommodation we’d love to visit again.

    A very large Hotel

There were many trainees, including international trainees, and although it was my first time staying here, there was not enough explanation provided. Since there are few Accommodations where you can stay with pets, I appreciated that aspect, and my dog was able to relax comfortably. The Room was clean but felt a bit dated. The toilet’s washlet was broken. We chose the standard meal plan, and it was average. The festival plaza and folk song event were also held on a small scale.

A Hotel Where You Can Stay with Your Dog

While looking for a Hotel where I could stay with my dog, I found this Hotel at Mori no Kaze Oshuku. The Room was spacious and came with a dog crate, so I felt comfortable leaving the Room for meals and bathing. The meals were very satisfying, and the staff’s kind service was excellent. They also told me about a delicious mochi shop nearby, so I visited early the next morning and bought mochi and dango. The Onsen was spacious, and the amenities were well stocked. Overall, it was a very satisfying Accommodation.

This was my first solo trip to Iwate Prefecture, and it turned into a truly memorable and enjoyable stay. After the Shuttle Service from the station to the Hotel, you even guided me to nearby historic ruins. I learned so much about Morioka, and I really enjoyed our conversation. Thank you very much. The Hotel itself was wonderful as well—the large public bath had a great view and felt very relaxing. The meals were delicious, and I also enjoyed events such as the shamisen performance, so there was plenty to experience. Above all, all of the staff were so kind and welcoming that I had a great time throughout my stay. I’m really glad I decided to visit Iwate Prefecture.

The welcome drink selection was plentiful, the Room was spacious, and both the quantity and quality of the meals were excellent. The staff were courteous, and we had a very comfortable stay. My grandmother, who traveled with me, was also very satisfied. The Onsen was wonderful. When we woke up in the morning, there was a snowy landscape—this was great as well. I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

We stayed to celebrate a family occasion, and were very satisfied with the attentive service from all the staff as always, as well as the Japanese cuisine that beautifully reflected the season in every detail. We were also able to relax our winter-stiffened bodies in the spacious Onsen. Thank you very much.

    Satisfied.

This was my first trip to Iwate, and we stayed here. The Hotel isn’t new, but it was very clean throughout, and housekeeping seemed thorough. We really appreciated the staff’s kind explanation of the Facility, and we were happy to receive a souvenir soup as well. The Onsen also had baby baths and children’s chairs available, which was very helpful. Both the open-air bath and indoor bath were spacious, and we were able to relax and relieve our fatigue! The meals were delicious, and we could fully enjoy ingredients from Iwate. However, perhaps because the dining venue is on Basement Level 2, it felt a little cold. There were lots of kid-friendly touches—like a lottery at the festival venue and koi swimming in the river in the lobby. We gave up because it was too cold, but there was also garden illumination. It was a great Hotel that’s welcoming for families with children while still relaxing for adults. We’d love to come again.

    Pet- and child-friendly for a worry-free stay

This time, we stayed as a couple with our three children and our dog. Our kids often come down with a sudden fever, so once again it was a last-minute visit. We have stayed at Mori no Kaze many times since the children were little, and once again we felt it is the best Accommodation for families. Even though I only briefly mentioned that it was our oldest child’s birthday, you kindly surprised us with a birthday dessert—thank you very much. It was the perfect environment: we could bring our dog, and the children could relax and feel safe. Just one request: we would really appreciate it if room service could be brought back. Thank you very much for this stay. We will visit again.

    Kekyo Kichi

The first Room we were shown to was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the illuminations. The refrigerator was large and very convenient to use. However, the toilet was old and noticeably dirty, so we requested cleaning. In response, they upgraded us to a Room with an open-air bath. While the public bath was also nice, the open-air bath in our Room was so comfortable that it didn’t feel cold at all, which made my elderly mother very happy. The meals were served in private dining spaces, providing a calm atmosphere. Each dish was carefully prepared and absolutely delicious. Since two family members had their birthdays during our stay, they provided a luxurious dessert plate and took photos for us as part of their service—it became a wonderful memory. The foreign staff spoke excellent Japanese and provided such polite service that it left us deeply impressed. The cookies we received at check-in from the front desk had an elegant taste and were delicious. Although the lounge offered limited options, their pumpkin soup was exceptional. We were able to relax and enjoy our time peacefully. We hope for "Kekyo Kichi" merchandise in the gift shop in the future!

    Overall rating: 5 st...

Overall rating: 5 stars or higher. I have been using Onsen Ryokan for about 40 years. My first experience was at Oushuku Onsen (the accommodation I stayed at back then no longer exists). Although my memory of that time is faint, I still remember being deeply impressed by the quality of the water. This time, I stayed in a room with a semi-open-air bath. The bathing experience was indescribable, and it brought back the emotions from my first visit. At other accommodations, without exception, the private open-air baths tend to cool down in the morning (even if there is a faucet to add hot water, it takes time to adjust the temperature and compromises the natural flow of spring water). However, this accommodation adjusts the water volume to maintain an optimal temperature throughout. The semi-open-air bath in my room was surrounded on three sides and shielded from wind; it would likely be comfortable even at temperatures as low as -10°C. The large public baths also had indoor baths, semi-open-air baths, and open-air baths with subtle temperature adjustments (likely controlled by varying water flow), making it hard to leave both my private bath and these facilities despite knowing prolonged soaking might not be good for me. The meals were excellent as well. While I knew fugu could traditionally be caught in nearby Akita Prefecture—and more recently also in Iwate and Miyagi—I had always wondered why local fish like this weren’t featured at other accommodations until now when I finally got to enjoy them here! Additionally rare for Tohoku accommodations was silver butterfish—a fish with delicious skin—and its grilling method was perfect. The timing of dish service by our attendant felt impeccable too; dining became an enjoyable experience overall. For breakfast came Ohtani Shohei-recommended "Iwaizumi Yogurt," which we later successfully found at a nearby supermarket after learning where it's available locally. During dinner came rice cooked with salmon—using rice unfamiliar even by name—which our attendant suggested trying without mixing first before eating directly from its layered state instead... Unfortunately though having already consumed sake ("Suijin" +10 Nihonshu-do) beforehand meant failing fully appreciating said rice flavor-wise afterward! This stay’s semi-open air tub happened being pot-shaped but apparently longer-style options exist elsewhere within property grounds too alongside ongoing culinary innovations such incorporating softshell turtle dishes among others mentioned above worth exploring further next visits ahead someday soon hopefully via relatively easy IKYU.com reservations system access again! When shall return?

    An accommodation beyond expectations

I was looking for accommodation in a good location to visit Magoroku Onsen the next day and found this place, which exceeded my expectations. Not only did they accommodate my dislike of certain ingredients, but I also chose the robatayaki, which used high-quality ingredients. Considering the accommodation price, the cost performance was excellent. They also kindly assisted with planning my activities for the next day and even contacted my next day's accommodation about my schedule. The staff left a great impression—those who carefully grilled and served meals, a gentleman from Bangladesh who frequently cleaned the baths, and a female staff member from Kyoto who handled check-out at the front desk. I rarely post reviews, but I had such a wonderful time that I wanted to share it here. Thank you very much!

    Enjoyed Iwate to the fullest!

A comfortable Hotel for both people and dogs (This is a personal opinion).

Stayed with family members returning home accompanied by a dog, utilizing multiple rooms. As long as the dog is reasonably trained, there should be no issues during the stay. The room was equipped with a cage and provided dog amenities, but to ease our dog's nerves in an unfamiliar place, we brought familiar dishes and a crate. For the owners, the room was spacious with comfortable bedding, allowing for relaxation. Meals featured an abundance of local ingredients and were both delicious and plentiful. Some younger members even ordered additional options and finished them all. However, some family members couldn't finish their meals due to the large portions despite usually finishing everything; having smaller portion options might be helpful in such cases. The dishes were so tasty that we wished we could take leftovers back to the room for a late-night snack! Overall, it was a very satisfying stay!

    Great value for money

The price was reasonable, and the shuttle service to Morioka was convenient, so I made a reservation. The large public bath and open-air bath were spacious with a great view of the mountains. The cypress bath in the guest room is also said to use natural hot spring water, which allowed me to enjoy the mineral deposits even more. While the meals were not at a level of amazement or surprise, they were definitely worth the price. The festival plaza and illuminations were also well-received. The hotel staff were very kind, making it an overall satisfying stay. Thank you very much!

    Hoshino Resorts Debut

This was my first time staying at Hoshino Resorts. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, from the stage performances to the buffet with an extensive menu that made it hard not to overindulge. It’s easy to see why so many families with young children choose this place. The staff were attentive and provided a sense of comfort. I wish I had more time to explore the facilities! The bath was nice, though it didn’t particularly stand out in terms of uniqueness. Now I’m thinking about which Hoshino Resort to visit next. Thank you!

The interior was both luxurious and tranquil, with clean Onsen facilities that made for a satisfying stay. The staff were kind and attentive, for which I am grateful. The meals featured high-level Japanese cuisine showcasing Iwate's local specialties and the essence of summer, reflecting the exceptional skills of the culinary team. Additionally, enjoying a gardening contest in the garden was a delightful experience.

    I had a great time.

We visited from Shikoku for our honeymoon. The room with an open-air Onsen bath, the delicious and satisfying cuisine, and the heartfelt hospitality made for a truly luxurious experience. Since it’s a bit far from Morioka Station, we appreciated the shuttle bus service. We were surprised by how large the facility was upon arrival. The meal was a stylish Japanese Kaiseki course with just the right portions. It was so delicious that we ended up eating without taking many photos! There were various activities to enjoy after dinner as well. The illuminated flower garden provided a light stroll and had a beautiful Christmas-like atmosphere. Since it was dark, we couldn’t see the flowers clearly, so visiting during both day and night might be better to fully enjoy it. The hand movements in the traditional folk dance show were graceful and left a lasting impression on us. We also tried shooting games at the festival square area! The open-air bath in our room allowed us to adjust its temperature ourselves—it was pure bliss! However, because we spent so much time enjoying baths, we didn’t have enough time to browse through the souvenir shop—that’s our only regret! We could choose between samue or colorful yukata robes; I appreciated that samue had buttons at the collar to keep them secure. We were delighted by your surprise celebration for us—it made us very happy and created wonderful memories for both of us. This is such an amazing accommodation—thank you very much!

Accommodation Perfect for Guests with Dogs

We stayed at the accommodation with our pet. Since it was a Japanese-style room, there were no beds to climb up and down, which was very convenient for our elderly dog. While a cage is required for moving around inside the hotel, carts are conveniently placed in the elevator hall on the floor where the room is located, so moving around was not an issue. The view from the open-air bath was stunning, and we were very satisfied with the elaborate Japanese cuisine served. The accommodation is easily accessible from both Iwate and Akita, making it truly accommodating for guests with dogs. We will definitely return and look forward to staying during a different season!

    Surprisingly, the sound carries.

Stayed for one night over the weekend. Footsteps from the upper floor, possibly due to children, were quite loud. The guest room had only one towel for two people. The outdoor bath seemed to have drainage issues as water was overflowing and leaves were floating in the tub. The quality of the Onsen water was soft but not particularly silky; I personally felt that nearby Hanamaki Onsen offered better moisturizing effects (though this may vary by individual). Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath.

The room's open-air bath was made of wood, providing a warm and cozy atmosphere. Despite the snowfall on the day, the water temperature remained comfortably warm (we could adjust it slightly ourselves). The room was spacious and had an open feel. The large public bath was also magical as we enjoyed it while snow covered the surroundings, creating a truly enchanting view. We had both dinner and breakfast in a private dining room. The staff provided excellent service, and chatting with them added to the enjoyment. Seasonal dishes were served, allowing us to savor the changes in flavors throughout the course meal. The variety of dishes left us completely satisfied. Next time, we would love to visit during the illumination season!

    Three-generation trip

At the end of the year, we stayed with three generations, a total of 8 people. From the moment we arrived, we were soothed by the warm hospitality and service, and the foreign staff guided us in very fluent Japanese. It was clear that they were acting thoughtfully, not just following a manual. The Japanese kaiseki dinner was a menu with attention to detail in each dish, and we wanted to enjoy it slowly as it was very delicious, but the service felt a bit fast. We appreciate the accommodation of changing the menu for our niece who cannot eat sashimi. The mochi pounding at the festival plaza after dinner was a valuable experience for my Australian brother-in-law and nieces who were able to participate. When we tried to open the beer purchased at the festival, the foam spurted out and wet the floor, but a staff member immediately brought something to wipe it up. Everyone's attentiveness and consideration were wonderful. I think it might not be installed due to infection control measures, but it would be nice to have lotion and emulsion, even inexpensive ones, in the Onsen changing room. We enjoyed our stay from arrival to departure. We definitely want to visit again.

    With your dog

This was my first time using this service. The amenities for dogs were plentiful and everything was clean. The food was delicious and there was so much that I couldn't finish it all. I would be happy if the portions were a bit smaller. The garden illumination was beautiful, but I hope to return when the flowers are in full bloom.
