The sunset was beautiful even from the Room.

We stayed one night at Yunohanatei, a tatami-style Accommodation where we used to stay with our children, for an Onsen trip as a senior couple. From our seaside Room, we enjoyed a wonderful view of families happily playing on the beach below and the sunset reflecting on the sea like a shimmering orange line. My wife was also very satisfied with the in-room dining service for the first time in a while and how delicious the food was. Both dinner and breakfast were very filling. The large public Onsen bath on the 7th floor was not crowded, and the open-air bath was especially relaxing.

Warm and welcoming hospitality, with excellent meals.

While the building itself shows its age, the food was excellent. After arriving and being shown to my Room, they served tokoroten, which was also delicious. Dinner was served in the Room, so we could talk freely without worrying about others. There were several kinds of sashimi, and the flounder—my main reason for coming—was especially tasty. As for the bath, the open-air bath was very hot and I could only stay in briefly, though some guests seemed to soak for a long time, so it may have just been me. The bathing area is also tatami-matted, which felt unusual. It seemed very well cleaned. Amenities are minimal, so I’m glad I brought my own. Also, I think the staff member who assisted us was elderly; their warm, familiar hospitality reminded me of my grandmother and made me feel at ease. Some people may not prefer this style of service and might find it a bit much, but for me it made me want to stay again. For this price, with this quality of food and service, I was more than satisfied. They also looked after our car and luggage before check-in, which let us walk to nearby Terrasse Orange Toyo—and it was great to be able to enjoy a beer from lunchtime there as well.

    The Best 3 Days

Thank you for taking care of us for three days. As a returning guest, I was once again able to relax thanks to the warm hospitality of the proprietress, the young proprietress, and all the staff. The open-air bath in the guest room was truly soothing. Thank you very much. Once things settle down, I would love to visit again.

I was able to relax and unwind in Nishi-Izu.

We deliberately chose Nishi-Izu, a little away from the city center, and were able to relax without too many people both in and around the Accommodation. Thanks to the Accommodation’s consideration, we were given a corner Room, so we had an amazing view not only of the sea but also of the town and a wide sandy beach. We also enjoyed strolling through the charming streetscape, with old temples and historic buildings still standing.

    A Warm and Welcoming Accommodation

You can feel the warm, comforting hospitality everywhere. Even the way they speak is polite yet welcoming. The meals were so generous that we were amazed we couldn’t finish them all. The Onsen bath being lined with tatami even inside the tub was wonderfully comfortable, and we stayed in for a long time. The ocean view from our Room was beautiful and made this trip truly unforgettable. It was also very convenient that the Suruga Bay ferry terminal is close to the Accommodation, which made our stay even more satisfying. Thank you very much for taking such great care of us.

It was a very satisfying one-night stay in every way. Thank you for the thoughtful care from everyone who looked after our Room. From the warm welcome to the send-off at the end, everything left us truly fulfilled. The meals were delicious, and having them served in our Room made it an even more luxurious experience. We would love to return again—thank you very much.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

I stay at this accommodation several times a year, and the fully tatami-covered floors are always soothing no matter when I visit. The staff's warm smiles are wonderful, making the experience very pleasant. I look forward to visiting again for relaxation.

    Impressions of the Tatami Accommodation

The staff's explanation and service were excellent. The Room was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. I was surprised to find tatami mats at the bottom of the open-air bath. The water temperature was just right, and I was very satisfied. From my Room on the 4th floor, I could enjoy a full view of the ocean, which was very soothing. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable time.

We chose this accommodation because it offers in-room dining. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room, and we could enjoy a relaxing time while admiring the ocean view from our room. The entire space was covered with tatami mats, allowing us to walk around comfortably in socks without slippers after entering the entrance. The open-air bath also had a tatami-style design, offering a stunning view of the ocean. Although it was already dark at night and we couldn't see much of the scenery, the morning view was absolutely breathtaking. The staff were friendly and created a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience!

    Feel the Showa era.

It was an accommodation with a Showa-era vibe, but there were no foreigners, making it comfortable to stay. The sauna felt small.

We recommend a 2-night stay! Thank you for staying with us.

We had the pleasure of staying for 2 days during our 5-night, 6-day trip to Izu, made possible by an unexpected 6-day holiday. This accommodation was filled with warmth and hospitality, even more so than expensive ryokans. The meals were prepared with care and were delicious, offering a variety of flavors even during a multiple night stay. The grilled fish collar, sakura shrimp hot pot, and stew served on the second day were especially memorable. The freshly cooked rice was shiny and perfectly textured every time. My husband usually doesn’t eat fish but felt compelled to eat it out of respect for the effort put into preparing it—this truly shows how delicious it was! We sincerely apologize for leaving food behind despite its wonderful taste. Thank you also for your thoughtful consideration regarding my husband’s health condition. Everyone we met greeted us with smiles that made our stay very pleasant. If given the choice between one night at a luxury ryokan or three nights here, we would choose this place without hesitation! If two nights offered such amazing meals, I can only imagine what three nights would be like! We will definitely return again in the future—thank you so much for everything!

    Thank you for your patronage.

Our family of seven, including four sisters and a husband, went on a trip together. We had to make changes to the number of guests due to someone feeling unwell a few days prior, but they recovered just before the trip, and we were grateful for the staff's kind accommodation of our request to revert back to the original number. While the building's age is understandable, the meals (especially the rice) were delicious. The 24-hour bath was also a highlight; we enjoyed almost private use at 1 AM and 4 AM. Overall, considering the price balance, it was an extremely reasonable stay that left us very satisfied.

    The service has ended.

I decided to stay because I wanted to try the tatami bath. The bath was excellent, and the view from the room's bath was also great, but the service ruined it all. The food was not tasty; the sashimi was dry, the simmered dishes were cold, and the rice was hard, making it difficult to eat. When I left some food uneaten, I had to ask eight times for someone to clear it away. Even after saying I was full, they asked if I could still eat more and were reluctant to clear my dishes. It ruined my mood during what should have been a relaxing vacation. For those planning a stay here, I recommend choosing No Meals Included.

Traditional Onsen Ryokan with Great Value for Money

This was my second stay. While many accommodations are being renovated and becoming more expensive, this ryokan retains its traditional charm with older facilities, adding features like private open-air baths in the rooms. It offers room meals and futon bedding service, preserving the classic ryokan experience from decades ago. Once you take off your shoes at the entrance, you'll walk barefoot on tatami flooring throughout the hallways, elevators, and stairs. The meals were abundant with side dishes—so much so that I couldn't finish all the rice... a delightful dilemma! You can easily access the beach from within the facility wearing sandals, and there's a convenient shower to rinse off sand before returning inside. Near the seaside exit, there are vending machines for milk and drinks to quench your thirst anytime. The public bath isn't very large but features an open-air bath with tatami flooring for a soft and unique sensation underfoot. Sharing conversations with staff during dinner and breakfast made me realize how much I've come to enjoy such personalized service over time—a memorable one-night stay!

    Completely satisfied

Plan: Open-air bath with flatfish platter, 2 guests, ¥42,900 Room with private open-air bath, hinoki indoor bath, toilet, and washroom. Available on weekdays after Golden Week. From the moment you arrive at the accommodation, everything is exceptional. Staff are stationed at the entrance to guide your car and carry all your luggage. The car is taken care of with valet parking service. Check-in is guided by front desk staff and a dedicated attendant. Meal times for dinner and breakfast are decided upon arrival (earlier arrivals get priority), along with any meal options before heading to your room. The view from the room is breathtaking—an expansive view of the beach right in front of you accompanied only by the sound of gentle waves. Although smoking is allowed in the room, prior notice about concerns regarding odor ensures thorough cleaning; there was no trace of smell during our stay. The large public bath on the 7th floor and its open-air section are spacious, clean, and offer stunning views overlooking both the beach and Suruga Bay. Bathing while enjoying this scenery provides an unparalleled experience. Of course, having a private open-air bath attached to your room allows for complete relaxation without worrying about others—perfect for anytime use. As for meals (refer to photos), they were highly satisfying in both quality and quantity. Simple yet deeply flavorful dishes stood out; especially noteworthy were the rice and miso soup which were exceptional. However, what truly sets this accommodation apart is its staff. From those at reception to parking attendants—and most notably—the dedicated attendant who embodies everything wonderful about an Onsen accommodation experience: warm-heartedness combined with professionalism that feels like being cared for by a kind local relative—a perfect match for this seaside retreat's charm. This place invites you to simply relax within its premises—enjoying baths paired with delicious food and drinks—that’s all there is to it...and that’s exactly what makes it so special!

Thank you for your stay. The entire accommodation features tatami flooring, providing a relaxing and calming atmosphere as soon as you step inside. The staff are very welcoming, making this an exceptional accommodation. It was a relaxing accommodation.

It was a very cozy Ryokan. The dream of having an open-air bath in the room and enjoying meals in the room came true! When we entered the Ryokan, they took care of our shoes, and since the entire facility had tatami flooring, moving around in socks felt fresh and fun. The open-air bath in the large public bath also had tatami flooring, which was adorable. The meals were plentiful and satisfying. The seafood was absolutely delicious, especially the live abalone—it was amazing! The staff at the Ryokan were warm and attentive, sharing lots of information about Izu with us. Their service was impeccable. Although slightly old-fashioned, it was clean and well-maintained. It felt so comfortable that it didn’t bother us at all. We had a truly wonderful time here!

    First Room Dining Experience

We chose this accommodation for a relaxing trip to celebrate my partner's birthday. We specifically picked a weekday right after the spring break when it’s less crowded, and opted for a room with in-room dining and a private open-air bath. Upon arrival at the hotel, the valet staff moved our car and transported all our luggage on a cart. Check-in was conducted while seated on comfortable sofas with an excellent ocean view—simply wonderful! After check-in, the same attendant who carried our luggage also assisted us throughout our stay, including breakfast service. Shortly after checking in, we were served tokoroten jelly and plum tea—a delightful surprise! The building had an older feel but was beautifully renovated and well-maintained. The interior featured tatami flooring throughout, so no slippers were needed. The public bath was compact but offered breathtaking views of the sunset over the ocean! The open-air bath had tatami flooring both inside and outside of the tub, making it very comfortable. The private open-air bath in our room also provided stunning views with perfectly warm water—we used it multiple times! The hairdryers available were from various brands with strong airflow; even the one in our room had impressive power—quite rare! Since meals were served in-room, bedding staff efficiently set up futons after dinner and cleared them before breakfast. Their graceful movements left us mesmerized. The meals weren’t overly extravagant but everything was delicious. Despite recent rice shortages, even the rice served from ohitsu containers was tasty—we finished every grain! As for minor drawbacks: there wasn’t a basket bag provided for trips to the public bath (common at many accommodations), only one key was given which required coordinating bath times among guests; having milk vending machines on every floor (not just one) would have been convenient; toothbrushes were too soft; sauna hours felt too short; lastly, since futons were cleared before breakfast, lying down afterward wasn’t possible. Overall though, considering this level of service at this price point—it was an incredibly satisfying stay!

    Warm hospitality.

We experienced traditional and nostalgic hospitality. It had been a while since we enjoyed dining in the Room, as most of our recent trips involved restaurant meals. We were able to relax and savor the meal at our own pace. The sunset over the sea in West Izu was breathtakingly beautiful! The view from the Room and the changing colors of the sky over time were absolutely stunning.

    It is a good Property.

Location: The property is situated facing the coast, offering a scenic view. It is conveniently located on a main road for those traveling by car. However, being in West Izu, it does not have the best access from the metropolitan area. Facility: The building may not be new, but it has been renovated as needed. It is rare to find tatami throughout the entire property. Room: The room included an open-air bath with a great view. I often experience back pain with regular futons, but the bedding here was comfortable. The room has also been renovated and is clean. Dining: Meals were served in-room. Both dinner and breakfast featured delicious seafood dishes utilizing local ingredients. The platter of flounder was impressive as well. For us, the portions were quite large; it would be nice if there were smaller course options available. Service: Our attendant was friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Other services such as at the front desk seemed standard. Onsen: Both the large public bath and open-air bath in our room offered views of the sea, which we appreciated. Overall: Considering factors like meal quality and service, this property offers more than its price suggests. We would like to visit again.

    It's wonderful.

How many times have I visited already? The meals are served in the room these days. And they are delicious! All at this price. I worry if they can keep this up. I brought three friends with me. They all have refined tastes. Everyone was very satisfied with the bath, room, and view. They were especially thrilled with the dancing abalone. The steamed yam was also delicious, or rather, there was nothing that wasn't tasty. The room had an open-air bath, but I always use the large bath. Why? Because you can see the starry sky at night. Depending on the direction, it's like a planetarium. My friends took a morning bath in the room's open-air bath and relaxed. That's what they said. The staff was kind and made us feel at ease. If I had one complaint, it's that I'm a big sauna enthusiast. There is a sauna, but is it for home use? But it can't be helped. I'll give up on that. I can't ask for more luxury. Actually, I cheated on Christmas. I stayed for the first time at another Ryokan in Toi Onsen. I took my daughter's family with me, and my fifth-grade grandchild said, "A-cha-ma, I prefer the tatami room." We all felt the same way, so it was amusing. I'll visit again soon.

    The tatami mats feel comfortable.

Since the facility has tatami mats, you don't need to wear slippers. Perhaps because of the tatami, my feet didn't get cold even in winter, and I was able to spend my time comfortably. The facility retains a bit of an old feel, but it is well cleaned, and since it's not a large Ryokan, the baths weren't crowded, which was just right. Also, the food is really delicious. The simmered golden eye snapper, sashimi, and even the rice were truly delicious. I even had seconds for breakfast.

Open-air bath with a view of the stars

We used this property during our annual year-end trip as a couple. We enjoyed the retro onsen hotel with an open-air bath where you can see the sunset and starry sky. The room was an eight-tatami mat room with an open-air bath, and the stories from the grandmother who attended to us were delightful. It felt like coming back home. The meals served in the room were abundant, allowing you to enjoy the bounty of the sea. It ends with delicious miso soup with a good broth. The open-air bath in the room is not large, but you can see the sunset and starry sky, and it feels great. The water temperature is just right, allowing you to relax and soak slowly. Recently, there are many stylish and modern stays, but Toi Onsen is originally a retro onsen town by the sea, and this long-established hotel has just the right presence. It's a comfortable place where nothing more is needed.

    Healing Stays

This is a very relaxing Property with tatami throughout. The staff, including the landlady and the young landlady, are very kind and it is a refreshing experience. The meals are also very delicious, and I end up gaining weight every time, haha. I always feel that three days is not enough. The sunset view from the Room window is very beautiful, and you can enjoy the view of the sea, which is wonderful. I will visit again.

    The best birthday

I stayed at the property to celebrate a birthday. I chose this Stays because the reviews were very good. When I mentioned the birthday in the remarks column, they served grilled sea bream as a service. The food and onsen were excellent! The all-tatami flooring was also comfortable and very relaxing. I would like to repeat my stay.

It was a Hotel as reputed.

The tatami feel throughout the facility was very comfortable. Traveling with my elderly mother, we enjoyed the Onsen three times together, as it was available 24 hours. Every meal was delicious, and I particularly regretted the small size of my stomach this time. I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

    View

The view was absolutely wonderful. The person in charge of the Room was also very nice, thank you very much. The disappointing part was that the fittings on the sliding door to the Room came off, and a small nail fell out, so each time I had to fit it back in and insert the nail, which was very disappointing. The food was nothing short of satisfying. Thank you for taking care of us. On our way out, we received cold medicine from the lady at the lobby reception, and I don't know how to express my gratitude. I appreciate your warm consideration.

    Impressive from the entrance

I went with my parents and wife, making it four of us. As the title suggests, I was impressed by the view of the sea from the entrance through the window at the back. The entire building has tatami flooring, which felt great to walk on barefoot, and the size of the building was just right! The Room had an open-air bath, and the view from the bath was fantastic. I was hoping to see the sunset, but it seems that happens around summer, which was a bit disappointing, but the view was still great. The bath was also nice, and although the open-air bath was a bit chilly due to the sea breeze, it was refreshing as it was my first time experiencing a full tatami bath. The food portions were large, and I was satisfied. The abalone was delicious too! It seemed a bit too much for my father and mother, but overall, we were satisfied. I will visit again.

We stayed with two couples, including our friends. All areas were covered with tatami mats, which was very pleasant. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were satisfying in terms of quality and quantity, and we enjoyed them. Since we requested meals for four people, they prepared a larger room for us, allowing us to enjoy our meals comfortably. The cost performance was good, and the other couple also said it was great, which reassured us who made the reservation.
