    We were very satisfied.

    All the staff were very pleasant, and it was a comfortable stay with nothing to complain about—except for one thing: the water in the large public bath was too hot, so we couldn’t relax and enjoy it. Other than that, the Room was a spacious Japanese-style room with comfortable futons, and the meals were delicious. Our 7-year-old grandchild was also thrilled because there were lots of places to play. We would like to visit again.

    Obon Holiday

    With no plans for the Obon holidays, we decided to spend time somewhere cool and relatively close to Tokyo, so our family headed to Echigo-Yuzawa. It was our first time visiting outside the ski season. After considering several options, we chose this Accommodation because it has a gym and pool and sits on spacious grounds. Even though it was a last-minute Reservation, a room opened up—perhaps due to a cancellation—so we booked right away. The baths were spacious and relaxing. The buffet venue in the basement was also large, so we could enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. The shop is open until 21:00, and there are no convenience stores nearby; late at night, only vending machines are available. The gym was small, but it had all the basic machines and was clean. We didn’t know in advance, but there is a homework room on the 4th floor, which was great for studying quietly. However, at the large round table outside the homework room, an adult was on online meetings constantly—the same person for two days. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that. Overall, it was a satisfying stay.

    All activities are guided with care, and the night view is beautiful.

    The night buggy cruising was thrilling and incredibly fun. The fishing pond staff were also extremely kind. I had a wonderful trip with my grandchild. Thank you very much.

    A Memorable Trip

    I stayed here on the day of the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival. Even though my Shinkansen arrived late, you came to pick me up, which was a great help. Also, being able to use the large public bath 24 hours a day was perfect for soothing my tired body. Staying at NASPA New Otani made this a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    I want to enjoy it even more next time!!

    While looking for Accommodation for my first time attending Fuji Rock, I chose this Hotel because it offered more reasonable rates than other places and also provided a nighttime Shuttle Service (from the station to the Hotel). After making a Reservation in advance, I emailed with questions and a correction to my Reservation details, and their reply was polite and very quick!! Since I checked in late at night and had No Meals Included, it was disappointing that I couldn’t fully enjoy the meals or the Onsen. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and although it was a short stay, it was very relaxing. Thank you very much. If I can go to Fuji Rock again, next time I’d like to do a Multiple Night Stay and enjoy the Hotel as well.

    About the all-you-can-drink alcohol option at the dinner buffet

    The all-you-can-drink alcohol service (3,500 yen) is offered for an awkward 75 minutes, while 90/120 minutes is standard even at local izakayas. Despite that, the plan with beer costs an extra 500 yen—about the same as an izakaya. On top of that, you have to go to the counter to get drinks each time. The Onsen was spacious and nice, with a jacuzzi and a reclining bath.

    A Hotel Popular with Families with Children

    I planned to relax in the Onsen and enjoy some activities, but there were far more families with children than expected, so I couldn’t soak in peace. The Onsen has a cleaning time during the day, so in the morning it felt somewhat unclean. The noise from people running around in the Room above was very loud, and I eventually asked the front desk to address it. Despite being a four-star Hotel under the New Otani brand, there were no amenities in the Room and you have to pick them up at the front desk—more like a Business Hotel style. The staff were kind, though.

    With my wife, just the two of us.

    Although the property was under renovation, the only inconvenience was that we couldn’t park near the entrance, and we were able to stay comfortably without any stress. Since it was the rainy season and there were fewer guests, we had the spacious and comfortable sauna all to ourselves, which was fantastic. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax.

    The Room is spacious and offers a great view.

    This was my first time staying here. Since it’s a New Otani Hotel, I expected good service in many ways. The staff greeted us with smiles and responded promptly and clearly. Maybe because it was Golden Week, it also felt like there were plenty of staff around. The Room and Facility are old, and not having an outlet by the bed is inconvenient these days, but the space was so generous that I could relax without stress. I also liked that the bathtub area and shower room were separate. With a walk-in closet and a vanity area with a three-sided mirror, the layout felt luxurious and fun. There was hardly any noise from upstairs footsteps or from neighboring rooms. There was a small event with sake tastings and pound cake samples; it was modest, but I’m glad I could choose a delicious sake to buy. From the buffet photos showing piles of crab legs, I assumed crab would be available, but it seems I misunderstood—roast beef was the main item and there was no crab. Everything else was delicious, though, and there was a great selection of dessert cakes overall—so I was satisfied. Soft drinks like cola were freely available at the drink bar. Breakfast was also tasty, and the coffee was great. The large public bath had plenty of washing stations and wasn’t crowded. I heard there will be a rice-planting event in mid-May, so I’d love to join next year.

    We stayed for two ni...

    We stayed for two nights on a weekday in late April to see Uncho in Uonuma. Since my mother has limited mobility, it was great that it was the ski off-season and before Golden Week, so the Hotel was very quiet and we could relax. There is also a free Shuttle Service from the station, which is convenient. (Reservations are required at certain times during the green season.) It’s a large Hotel on a hill; although it’s older, it is well cleaned and feels comfortable. As you would expect from New Otani, all of the staff were very pleasant, and I felt they took pride in their work at this Hotel. The Shuttle Service driver in particular was kind and wonderful. At the Garden Lounge, we enjoyed New Otani’s signature cakes. It’s always crowded in Yotsuya, but here we were able to have tea at a leisurely pace. A few minor disappointments: the buffet venue was a banquet hall and felt rather plain; while everything tasted great, there weren’t many menu options. Also, our Room seemed to be on the back side of the building, so we could only see the mountainside. Still, even considering that, this Hotel made our Niigata trip truly wonderful for both me and my mother. We would love to stay again if we have another chance. Thank you very much.

    Overall, it feels like a hotel geared toward families and international guests, for better or worse.

    I stayed during the busiest peak season over a three-day holiday weekend. If you use public transportation, you’ll need to walk up a steep hill to reach the Hotel. The bus stop is also some distance away, so if you miss the bus, you may end up walking uphill for 30 minutes or more. Taxis are generally scarce and can take time to find, so coming by car is recommended. At the Hotel, the staff are generally attentive and polite. Even if you arrive at the buffet venue at your assigned time, there may be a very long line and you might not be able to enter right away, so during busy periods it’s best to line up early (at breakfast). With so many people, you have to speak loudly to staff in order to get assistance. I thought it would be nice if staff proactively approached guests they noticed and guided them. The buffet food is average. You can add an all-you-can-drink option and enjoy local alcohol. Right outside the Room is the ski slope and a starry sky, so if the weather cooperates at night, you can see stars from the window. There is also a ski resort within about 10 minutes by car that offers night skiing until 2:00 a.m. Overall, as a Hotel it’s neither particularly good nor bad. They do their best in general, but it isn’t especially memorable.

    The dinner buffet is not worth the price for what it offers.

    Our family stayed here for our child’s ski lessons (the ski resort is right next to the Hotel, which was very convenient). We had made a Reservation for a pet-free Room, so we exchanged documents such as vaccination records with the Hotel staff in advance. Their communication was polite and gave us confidence about the stay, and the front desk staff were also kind and left a very positive impression upon arrival. However, the bed was the key issue. I had accepted that the Room felt dated due to its age, but the mattress quality was below that of a typical Business Hotel, so it was uncomfortable to sleep on. Also, since the buffet was priced at JPY 8,000 per adult and JPY 4,000 per child, we expected something special—but it did not feel worth the price at all. It was very average: neither better nor worse than an ordinary hotel buffet. Both the quality and variety of ingredients felt minimal. Our child is 4 years old, so paying JPY 4,000 for a 4-year-old was honestly shocking—and JPY 8,000 for adults at this level makes dining out in central Tokyo far cheaper. The only standout was the roast beef; it tasted good. However—perhaps because ingredients are expensive—we were served only 3–4 thin slices each time, which was disappointing. If this were simply a slightly above-average Business Hotel experience I could understand it, but you may want to reconsider using “New Otani” on the sign (sorry for being blunt).

    A Hotel That Survived the Heisei Era

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay for winter sports. As a Hotel developed during Japan’s bubble era, the design felt dated throughout. Even though it was a junior suite, the in-room bath was a unit bath; the beds used old-style top-and-bottom sheets, and there were no loungewear provided. Most disappointing was that the air conditioning is centrally controlled across the entire building, so we couldn’t adjust it by Room. Even with the fan set to maximum, the Room was cold (the bedroom side had airflow only, not heating). Perhaps because of this, our child became unwell and we ended up losing an entire day. The large public bath also felt outdated: the open-air area is small while the indoor bath is unusually large, and some jet-bath holes didn’t work. Dinner offered fairly different menus over two days so it didn’t get boring, but the all-you-can-eat crab was dry and disappointing. On the other hand, their systems and operations were excellent: staff were very courteous, we could use a cloakroom with free access even after checkout, and we were also able to use the large public bath—service that felt better than expected for the price. They also rent rubber boots for 500 yen, which felt reasonable compared with other ski resorts. It’s about 5 minutes from Echigo-Yuzawa Station by Shuttle Service bus and very close to the slopes—how much value you place on that location will be key.

    This is my favorite Hotel.

    I stay here once or twice every year. The convenient access and the location right in front of the ski resort are great, and the Hotel staff—at the front desk, restaurant, and cloakroom—are all highly professional, so I can always stay with complete peace of mind. The food is simply delicious, and my son looks forward to it every time. The tea and sweets at the café are also excellent.

    They responded quickly and kindly even to an unexpected late-night issue, making our stay truly exceptional. I’m now determined to recommend NASPA to everyone I meet. I strongly encourage everyone to make a Reservation and stay here without hesitation!

    Skiing is the best.

    At the buffet, we had all-you-can-eat crab. There weren’t many juice options for kids. The bath and sauna were great. It was smooth to leave our luggage at the cloakroom near the ski resort. Rentals were also smooth for our friends’ family. The Shuttle Service bus to the station was available, which was excellent. The Room fridge was more like a cooler and didn’t feel very reliable... On an upper floor, my family’s Room had a proper refrigerator. I guess it can’t be helped. We tried cooling things by the window, but the Room was warm—too warm in a sweater. You can comfortably stay in just a T-shirt.

    Unfortunately,

    We stay here every year for skiing. The slopes are right in front of the property, and it’s mostly skiers, which we really like. However, this year in the Onsen, it was very disappointing to see some parents not correcting their Asian children as they ran around playing chase, put the wash basin into the bath to play with it, and kept circling around the jacuzzi. Even though there weren’t many people around 7 p.m., we wanted to relax in the Onsen but couldn’t.

    Affordable

    I stayed here for skiing. It’s a top-tier Hotel chain, but it’s relatively affordable for winter stays in the Echigo-Yuzawa area. The Plan also includes two days of lift tickets for NASPA Ski Garden with a one-night stay, so it feels like a great value. That’s why I’ve stayed here several times since last year. After skiing, the Onsen and a beer are the best.

    Some aspects of the service were disappointing.

    The ski resort is conveniently located for families with children, and we have been using it every year. However, during this visit, the staff service at the lunch restaurant was disappointing. When I ordered a dessert plate, I was told it would take 10 minutes. After being called to pick it up, I found out they had mistakenly given it to the previous customer. As a result, they had to remake it, which took another 10 minutes. While mistakes can happen and that itself is understandable, what upset me was that the staff who made the mistake did not apologize or say anything when I went back to pick up my order again. Even the more experienced-looking staff member who informed me about remaking the dessert didn’t offer any apology or explanation either. It was very disappointing considering we’ve enjoyed staying here every year until now.

    Japanese-style Room, 20 tatami mats

    This was our fourth stay at NASPA. We had been searching for a reservation months in advance to enjoy a relaxing New Year holiday with skiing. Our group consisted of four people: a couple and two teenagers aged 18 and 15. We wanted to stay in the usual Superior Room for four, but as expected, there were no cancellations during the busy year-end and New Year period. Additionally, cancellation fees applied starting about three weeks prior, which seemed quite strict. We managed to secure a 20-tatami Japanese-style room instead. While it was spacious with 12-tatami and 8-tatami areas, the same-sized Superior Room would have been more convenient for our family. The advantages of this room included not needing to use the often-crowded tower elevators and being close to the dining area. The room stayed warm even though we turned off the heating while sleeping at night. The futons provided were single-layered and thin, so we added an extra layer from the closet for comfort. Although clean, some aspects felt outdated; for example, the layout of the sink area and toilet was less than ideal—especially since the refrigerator and glassware corner were located behind the bathroom door near the toilet. We had hoped there would be a Nespresso machine in-room but found none available. One major improvement needed is definitely with regard to toilets: there are two private stalls in this accommodation's restroom area; however, after flushing once, it takes five full minutes before you can flush again! This delay could cause issues if staying longer or traveling within larger groups despite being manageable under current circumstances due only having four members present overall throughout duration spent here altogether. Public restrooms near hotel front desk/common spaces worked perfectly fine without any such delays whatsoever experienced elsewhere onsite premises themselves directly related specifically towards individual guestroom facilities mentioned earlier above already noted previously beforehand accordingly too likewise similarly enough still yet nonetheless regardless either way anyhow anyway moving     I chose this accommo...

    I chose this accommodation for its proximity to the station, making it convenient to have dinner at restaurants in Yuzawa. The hotel offers a regularly scheduled shuttle service between the station and the hotel, which adds to its high convenience. Although the building seems older, it is well-maintained and clean, providing a comfortable stay. The private bath features an onsen with natural flowing hot spring water, allowing guests to enjoy Yuzawa's famous hot springs. As part of the Otani group of hotels, the staff provided excellent service with a friendly attitude. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again.

    Ski slopes right in front

    Stayed in a twin Western-style room at the Garden Tower for a 2-day ski trip at the beginning of the year. The ski resort was right in front of the Hotel, making everything smooth and convenient. The bathroom amenities were high-quality and pleasant to use. After skiing on the second day, we reserved a private bath in the Main Tower—highly recommended. Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with simple yet delicious dishes. The roast beef carved by the chef on-site was excellent, as were the carefully crafted dessert cakes. If I had to point out any negatives, it would be that the bed mattress felt slightly firm and that most check-in guidance was provided verbally, including information about dining locations and luggage storage areas. However, this might be part of their paperless initiative.

    Massage services are not available.

    Check-in before 3:00 PM was possible, and the room was upgraded. The view of the snow-covered Mt. Makihata from the 10th floor was wonderful. Massage reservation was made for 8:00 PM when available, but later changed to 9:30 PM as it wasn't possible at the original time. Tried it despite being sleepy to evaluate NASPA's massage service, but it was disappointing. I will not use it next time.

    Enjoy the Onsen all to yourself at the end of the autumn foliage season.

    I chose the "Room with 2 Meals Included Plan" to fully enjoy the onsen. After arriving in the early afternoon, I spent an hour in a private room with a carefully selected natural hot spring bath (off-season price: 2,000 yen at half price). This was absolutely the right choice. The quality of the water was completely different from that of the public bath! It felt like a dream to experience such premium Yuzawa Onsen after so long (though it felt slightly extravagant being alone). Afterward, I worked remotely in the quiet public area on the 4th floor until check-in at 3 PM. Then, I alternated between working in my spacious non-smoking twin room on the 7th floor with stunning autumn foliage views from the window and relaxing in both large public baths and my room. As evening approached, I enjoyed working while admiring sunset views before heading to dinner at their buffet. As expected of New Otani's quality—tender roast beef, sushi toppings far superior to those found at standard accommodations, exquisite hotel curry, and unlimited crab! The breakfast buffet also impressed me with freshly made Koshihikari rice balls and a variety of delicious Japanese and Western dishes. Perhaps due to concerns about bear sightings? It seems like this is currently an underrated gem. This is your chance to indulge in both luxurious onsens (be sure to reserve private baths) and top-tier hotel dining. I'm curious how things will be during ski season—I plan on revisiting soon!

    The entire facility, including the spacious public bath, was very satisfying and enjoyable. I visit Muikamachi twice a year and would like to make this my regular accommodation.

    The Room was upgraded to a higher grade, offering more space and excellent service—a truly fortunate experience. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes, all delicious and satisfying! I would love to come back again!

    Relax and unwind.

    Stayed as a family of three. We had a decent and relaxing stay. The room was spacious at 12 tatami mats, but there were no chairs in the wooden-floored area on the garden side (about 2 tatami mats), so we had to request them later due to slight mobility issues. Also, it was disappointing that there were only two tea snacks provided despite booking for three people. While we didn’t necessarily want more snacks, it would have been considerate to prepare enough for all guests based on the reservation. Meal times were limited to two slots: 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM (6:30 PM would have been ideal). Since our check-in time was set at 3 PM, we were automatically assigned the 5:30 PM slot without prior notice. We only realized this after making a confirmation call the day before our stay. The meal quality was excellent—dinner featured seasonal kaiseki cuisine, and breakfast was buffet-style—but alcoholic beverages were extremely expensive! There was some discomfort seeing a cemetery below our room’s view; surrounding it with trees would improve this aspect significantly. Overall, considering the price and experience, I’d rate it around 70–75 points out of 100 (thanks to IKYU points for helping with costs).
