    Yukata

Yukata were provided. If possible, I would have appreciated having loungewear in the Room as well. Breakfast was very disappointing, as most items seemed to be frozen foods that were simply reheated. The rice, however, was cooked in a pot and was very delicious. The staff member on the floor had a pleasant smile.

Enjoy the stunning views of Lake Biwa.

You can watch the sunrise over Lake Biwa from the opposite shore and enjoy a walk on the sandy beach, creating wonderful memories. I think it's an excellent location. The stay included breakfast and dinner, offering great value for money. The dinner was a Japanese course meal with excellent taste. The Room was spacious as we chose a family room, and we were satisfied with its unique log house-style layout. It was conveniently close to Imazu Port, where you can take a ferry to Chikubu Island.

The morning and evening views of Lake Biwa are stunning.

Blessed with good weather, we were able to witness the sunset on the day of our stay and the sunrise the following morning—truly a breathtaking view. Not only from the dining area but also from our room, we could enjoy a close-up view of Lake Biwa through large windows, offering a luxurious experience. If possible, I would have loved to extend my stay for a multiple night stay and explore the surroundings of Lake Biwa with a rental bicycle. The main purpose of this trip was to visit the Metasequoia tree-lined road, but it was fortunate that this accommodation was conveniently located nearby after enduring heavy traffic.

    A very good Hotel, but

This was my fourth stay at the accommodation, and since the meals had always been excellent in the past, I opted for a plan with two meals without hesitation. While the course meal this time was good, the children's meal, which had a different menu, was completely cold. It was a bit sad to see my child eating while saying, "Everything is cold." It wasn't just lukewarm; the rice was cold and hard like leftover rice from the fridge, and even the fried chicken felt like it hadn't been reheated after being taken out of storage. My child mentioned that "only the sashimi tasted good." We arrived at the dinner venue at our designated time as instructed, so it was disappointing. Other than that issue, including customer service, everything else met our expectations as usual.

Great views and excellent value for money

The price for a one-night stay with two meals felt very reasonable. I didn't have high expectations for the meals, but the dinner course was delicious, incorporating local ingredients and served in just the right portions. The location is right by Lake Biwa, offering easy access and a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Although the restaurant staff seemed somewhat unenergetic, they handled all requests properly despite apparent staffing shortages—thank you for that. The building is old, so the plumbing reflects its age; however, everything was clean and well-maintained, so it wasn't an issue.

    The meals were truly disappointing.

The room and environment were wonderful, but the meals were terrible and inedible. It's truly a shame for such a good Hotel. There were hardly any other guests, so I assume the management is struggling, but with that experience, I wouldn't want to stay again. I strongly hope for improvement.

The facility is old but well-maintained and clean.

We stayed at the accommodation for lake swimming. The hotel is located right in front of the lakeside beach, so you can go out in your swimsuit directly from your room. Large tents with chairs and tables are available for rent to guests at 1,000 yen, but we used the free reclining chairs on the wooden deck instead. It was comfortable under the shade of large trees. Unfortunately, only cold water was available in the outdoor shower. Since it was mentioned that there is no large public bath, we opted for a family room with a private household-style bath instead of a unit bath room, which turned out to be spacious and pleasant. The room had large windows but no balcony (swimsuits can be dried in the bathroom). Yukata robes and disposable slippers were provided; however, they could not be worn outside of the room. Although the building felt old, it was well-maintained and clean. For meals, we chose buffet-style dining for both breakfast and dinner as most guests seemed to do so as well—it wasn’t overly crowded. The buffet selection felt somewhat limited; desserts especially were disappointing: sticky warabi mochi, thick yet soggy cream puff shells, dry chocolate brownies, and canned fruits could use improvement. On a positive note, there were decent options overall—stewed dishes were delicious—and items were replenished promptly when they ran out. Overall, this accommodation left us feeling that we would like to stay here again during lake swimming season!

    Enjoyed Makino to the fullest.

Choosing the lakeside view was a great decision. Although there were people on the beach in front, I would still choose the lakeside view next time. This time, I didn’t fill the bathtub with water, but even with just a shower, it felt like the drainage couldn’t keep up. The building is old, so there are some issues with plumbing. Shampoo and conditioner are sold at the front desk, but if we come by car again next time, I’d like to buy them to take home. I loved not only their fragrance but also how they made my hair smooth and manageable. The IKYU Plan offered great value for money; however, three days before our stay (just after midnight), plans including two meals disappeared from availability and required reconsideration. Since it was summer vacation this time, there were many families with children which could feel overwhelming at times. However, we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast in a spacious restaurant offering a wide variety of dishes that left us satisfied. The selection included small side dishes and vegetables that you might wish for during your stay—perfect even for Multiple Night Stays without getting bored over two days. I’d love to visit during another season as well. My husband enjoyed an 11-kilometer round-trip run early in the morning to Metasequoia Avenue and was delighted by it. We also appreciated taking beautiful photos of landscapes from within the Hotel grounds. Thank you very much!

It was a relaxing location. The wooden design was also nice.

    It was disappointing.

I was unable to make a reservation at the hotel we always stay at before my daughter's birthday in the New Year, so I made a reservation at a hotel on IKYU, believing there would be no disappointments, but it was disappointing. The service, especially during meals, was subpar; there was no explanation of the dishes, water was not served unless requested, and the dessert spoon was thrown carelessly, making it the worst experience. I trusted the site, but now I am considering making reservations elsewhere. In this case, I refrained from making a complaint, but it was an unpleasant hotel.

    Only the scenery was luxurious.

The front desk's response at check-in conveyed their earnestness and was kind. The room had wallpaper with a warm wood grain ceiling like a lodge, and the large window offered a beautiful view of the sunset over Lake Biwa, which was very satisfying. I was aware that there was no large public bath due to the reasonable price range at which I could make the reservation, but since the bath was only in the room, I wished it had been cleaner. Mold was noticeable on the tile grout and the emergency phone installed, and long hair was stuck to the tiles. It was unpleasant, and instead of relaxing, I washed my body while feeling uncomfortable. I understand that the emergency phone is a consideration and intention from the hotel, but if it can only be managed in a way that makes guests uncomfortable, isn't it unnecessary? The food was cost-effective for a low-cost course, and the sukiyaki meat was delicious. I added the all-you-can-drink wine option, but the system of having to go and pour it myself was bothersome, and I regretted not ordering a bottle. The staff's response was good from everyone. I immediately recognized the highly-rated female staff member from the reviews. She was a person with high communication skills and was attentive.

Spacious and comfortable Hotel with a view of the lake

    1. This time we stayed in a family room on the first floor, and it was very clean and comfortable. 2. The food is delicious, but it would be nice if there were more variety in the dishes. 3. It would be even better if the Hotel had more activities and entertainment.

The second stay was also wonderful.

I stayed for one night around the same time last October. The view of Lake Biwa was right in front of me. The Room was spacious. I liked it so much that this time I stayed for two nights. The staff were all smiling, kind, and made me feel very comfortable. I forgot the PIN for the safe in the Room and couldn't open it, so thank you to the staff for coming and opening it for me. Also, thank you for calling me from the Hotel while I was on the rapid train on my way back to inform me that I had left something behind. After returning home, I realized I had left another item in the Room, and you sent it to me as well. I apologize for the trouble I caused. I had a very enjoyable stay for two nights this time as well. I am thinking of staying again next time.

A very quiet and relaxing Hotel

It was a Room on the second floor facing Lake Biwa, and it was so quiet after entering that it made me forget I was in a Hotel. It was a Plan with two meals, dinner and breakfast, and I think it was cost-effective. If I were to be indulgent, I would say that the breakfast menu could use a little more creativity. When you want to be healed from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can relax while looking at Lake Biwa, so in that sense, it is a recommended Hotel. I would like to use it again.
