    京都の白猫

The scenery and dining around the Hotel are excellent.

This was my first trip to Aomori, a four-day journey from Kyoto. This time I stayed at a different Hotel each night, and this Hotel was for the second night. The Room felt far too small— even the largest Room listed on the official website is only 29 m²— and it was disappointing that it had a unit bath. Since I stayed with my two daughters (three of us total), it felt even more cramped. I truly wish there were more options in terms of Room size. Next time, even if we come as three again, I think we will book two Rooms. As for the food, it was genuinely better than at other Prince properties. I strongly recommend upgrading dinner in particular—you can also enjoy local trout. Also, the service from an experienced female staff member was perfect!!! Since my husband wasn’t with us this time and only my eldest daughter and I were drinking (and we were tired), we ordered wine by decanter instead of a bottle, but I was surprised by how high the quality was. For breakfast, all three of us chose Japanese-style breakfast; there is also a buffet option and everything was very delicious. The view from the restaurant was absolutely beautiful. The guests seemed to be about 80% Taiwanese, with some Koreans and Japanese as well. (I was surprised by how many international tourists Aomori has.) There were also many non-Japanese staff members at the Hotel; Prince seems to have a higher ratio of international staff than other Hotels. What I would like improved: the bathroom tiles felt sticky, the changing area floor had hair everywhere, and considering the Hotel’s capacity there were only a few hair dryers in the changing area (I believe three), which really needs to be addressed. It would also be even better if afternoon tea or à la carte options were available. The hair dryer in the Room was an old built-in type with very weak airflow that didn’t dry hair at all. I called the front desk multiple times from my Room to borrow one but no one answered at all. So I went directly to request one; however, a young male staff member didn’t seem to know where they were kept, so we had to wait quite a while—and there wasn’t any apology then either. I had already felt that Prince front desks tend not to be very friendly anywhere, but this one especially gave me that impression. Between outdated wallpaper in the Room, an old unit bath and hair dryer, and sticky bathroom tiles, parts of the property seem in need of renovation here and there. It feels like such a waste given how great the location is. That said, because both the location and meals were excellent, I would still like to stay again.

    Rainy Lawn

It was my first stay in a while. The food was excellent, the tableware was refined, and it paired well with the wine, so I could enjoy it at a relaxed pace. The only drawback was that the coffee in the Room had a grind that was a bit too fine and wouldn’t drip through properly. I also wanted to take my time in the open-air bath while looking out at the garden. Please consider better insect control measures.

    We had a relaxing stay.

We traveled to the Hotel from Aomori Airport via Oirase Gorge. Upon arrival, the front desk staff kindly came to the drop-off area to pick up our luggage, which we really appreciated. Our Room was on the first floor. It was on the Lake Towada side, but you could only see it if you leaned out, which was a bit disappointing. As others have mentioned, the key is an old-style one that you turn all the way around. The unit bath area was small, and the toilet felt very tight as well. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious.

An adults-only resort where you can savor Lake Towada’s nature and renowned hot springs.

We stayed during Golden Week, using two Rooms for a family of four. What stood out most was the excellent Onsen. The open-air bath surrounded by nature on the shores of Lake Towada felt wonderfully spacious, and it was one of the most satisfying moments of our trip. Being able to soak quietly in such a calm setting is a unique appeal of this Hotel. Dinner French cuisine was also outstanding. The dishes made good use of local ingredients and were served with great care, giving us that special Resort Hotel experience. Including breakfast, we were very satisfied with the meals. On the other hand, the Facility as a whole feels dated. It is well maintained, but compared with newer Resort Hotels, its age is noticeable. The Lakeside Twin Room was also somewhat compact, and considering the price, we would have liked a bit more space. Since it was Golden Week, the cost for two meals included—two Rooms for four people—was quite high. That is understandable during peak season, but based on the Rooms and in-house facilities alone, opinions may differ on whether it feels worth the price. That said, the superb lakeside location at Lake Towada, high-quality French cuisine, and appealing Onsen are undeniable. We would especially recommend this Hotel to anyone who loves Onsen.

    A Joyful Reunion

The view from our Room (lakeside) was stunning—the lake glowing in the morning sun against the green lawn was as beautiful as a painting. The staff’s warm hospitality and thoughtful care made our reunion with friends after a long time a wonderful memory. It was also a trip to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and the French dinner was delicious. We’re glad we chose this Hotel. Thank you!

    Area Information

Although the meal included delicious tsukudani, it was disappointing that the staff didn’t even know whether it was available for purchase. Since this is Akita/Aomori, I also wished there had been more effort to share local information—such as recommendations for apple juice—or to introduce the region at all. If you valued the local area more, guest satisfaction would improve; relying only on the location and history feels a bit lacking. Also, while service may be challenging, I think overseas guests in particular should be given more guidance—everyone is working hard, but the support seems insufficient. I’d also like towels in the bath area, even if you are aiming to be eco-friendly. Having dinner after bathing but being told to change back into clothes again is tough. I feel it could become much better with just a little more improvement.

    We decided to visit ...

We decided to visit Oirase Stream as a couple after suddenly getting some time off and booked this accommodation for our second night since other options were unavailable. We have stayed at various Prince Hotels before, and we were looking forward to the lakeside view here, but unfortunately, the weather was not favorable. The lounge offered coffee, and the foreign staff working in the dining area were very polite and pleasant. There was a stink bug in our room which surprised us, but the hotel staff responded promptly and helped us out. For a hotel of this size, I felt that the public bath was rather small; however, by timing it right, I could relax without any issues. The water temperature seemed low in both baths though—it might be tough during winter. The bread served at dinner was delicious, as well as the senbei soup I had during breakfast!

    The location was excellent.

The location is very quiet, offering a calming view of the lakeside. At the restaurant, we enjoyed sitting by the window and had a fun time spotting wildlife—was it a fox? A raccoon? A cat? It turned out to be a marten visiting us. However, on a pleasant sunny day in early October, after returning to our Room from the public bath, it was uncomfortably hot. When we informed the front desk that the air conditioning was not working, they responded: "Since it's been cooler recently, we've turned off the air conditioning. Restarting it would require an entire day's work by our HVAC staff and cannot be done. Please open your windows for ventilation." While areas like the restaurant and front desk were air-conditioned, all Rooms required guests to open their windows for airflow. Some international guests even kept their entrance doors open for better ventilation. This year has been unusually warm; despite being autumn on the calendar, temperatures felt far from autumn-like. We hoped for more flexible responses to such situations. Additionally, the chair seats in our Room were so severely worn out due to aging that they were uncomfortable to sit on. This should be addressed as part of Facility maintenance by replacing or reupholstering them.

    Perfect Hotel for Nature Lovers

As a returning guest, I can say that while the Facility and Room are not brand new, the breathtaking view more than makes up for it. The Room's bath is a unit bath, but with an Onsen open-air large bath available, it's not an issue at all. Dining while enjoying the beautiful view of Lake Towada is delightful, and the staff's friendly and kind service is exceptional. I felt refreshed again this time—thank you so much! I look forward to visiting again next year.

It turned out to be a pleasant holiday.

Visited with an old friend. Enjoyed a peaceful time in the garden connected to Lake Towada and felt relaxed in the open-air bath. The meals were beautifully presented and delightful. The Room had an older bathroom, but it was well-cleaned. The staff were kind and attentive, making it a Hotel I would like to visit again.

Satisfied with the view, open-air bath, lighting, and dinner. Though old, the Room is extremely clean. All the staff are wonderful.

A Hotel Where You Can Become One with Nature

A hotel where you can fully enjoy the beauty of Lake Towada, surrounded by nature. Despite being a classic hotel with a strong Showa-era charm, it is well-maintained and kept clean daily. The meals were delicious, and the quality of the dinner was outstanding. Although there are no special facilities and the public bath consists only of an open-air bath, it was a very satisfying stay. One point to note is that some restaurant staff seemed relatively inexperienced. Perhaps providing them with small badges indicating they are in training could help facilitate smoother communication. Overall, it was a comfortable stay where I could spend a very relaxing time.

    Inconsistent customer service

Both the bar and lounge are closed. In a resort with nothing nearby, this was disappointing enough, but even more so was the attitude of the male staff when I asked if there were any bars available. There wasn’t even a hint of an apology; instead, it felt like he was questioning why I didn’t already know they were closed. During breakfast, when I tried to make small talk about the rainy weather, his response lacked any smile or warmth and came across as dismissive. For a Room costing around 50,000 yen per night, this level of service is truly disappointing.

    A bit disappointing

The hotel has a beautiful exterior and is located in an excellent spot by the quiet shores of Lake Towada. However, due to its age, the renovated areas feel very cheap, resembling a Business Hotel, which was disappointing. The room's toilet and sink area were too small and cramped, making them inconvenient to use. The room door also felt cheap. While the stay included two meals per day, the menu became repetitive for a Multiple Night Stay. It would be nice to have options like hamburger steak or curry set meals in addition to the fixed dinner course. The breakfast plate was a mix of Japanese and Western styles but not very tasty. Even with fewer options, offering everything in buffet style might be better. The hotel's shuttle service allows for trekking at Oirase Gorge; although I didn’t use it this time, there is also shuttle service available to Hachinohe Station, which is helpful. Oirase Gorge feels overly crowded with cars and people due to its popularity; next time I’d like to join trekking around the hotel area instead. However, it’s unfortunate that guided tours are not free. It seemed that about half of the guests were from Chinese-speaking regions.

    Traditional Resort Hotel

The location of the Prince Hotel as a Resort Hotel is best represented here at Lake Towada. While the surrounding environment has changed over time, for those of us reaching our sixties, it remains a nostalgic place filled with memories of youthful visits. Now, as we grow older, it has become a cherished spot where we can leisurely enjoy French cuisine and embody the elegance of adulthood. This year, there are two dinner options available, and I chose the Michinoku Dinner. Starting early in the evening at a relaxed pace, I was impressed by the fine bubbles in the beer and delighted by dishes that reflected the chef's and staff's meticulous care. The precise service made for an exceptionally enjoyable dining experience. Breakfast was also delicately prepared and so delicious that I ended up eating to my heart’s content. There used to be a lounge bar in earlier times. While staffing challenges and user numbers make it difficult now, extending restaurant hours in such an atmospheric setting could be a great alternative. The Onsen features high ceilings with an expansive roof and open views that feel refreshing. Although the building shows its age in layout and design, everything is well-maintained with thorough cleaning, allowing for a calm stay. The tennis court surface isn’t too damaged; if maintained further for usability, it would enhance the overall atmosphere even more. This hotel retains its original charm with beautiful lawns that I hope will continue unchanged into the future. As a Resort Hotel offering French cuisine akin to an auberge experience, this place makes me want to visit again. Thank you very much!

A quiet and pleasant Hotel by the lakeside.

A quiet lakeside location, great meals, and a very nice Hotel. Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, so it may require some consideration for early departures. (We skipped breakfast as we had to drive to Hirosaki Station by rental car and catch the Gono Line departing in the 8 o'clock hour.)

    Simple and Refreshing Prince Hotel

Fewer extra services and items allowed for a more relaxing stay. Definitely one of the Prince Hotels I would love to visit again.

    It was a bit disappointing.

I reserved a lakeside room, but I was disappointed that Lake Towada was barely visible. There were trees in the garden, so the view wasn't too bad, but it was different from what was described as lakeside. The coffee ground with a mill was very delicious. The open-air bath had a nice view, and I was able to enjoy a pleasant bath. I would like the meals to incorporate local ingredients with a bit more creativity. The course lacked excitement. The facility itself is old, and the toilet was like that of a business hotel. Given the privileged location, I felt that there needs to be some ingenuity in the meals and services to compensate for the age.

    Friendly Grandpa and Grandma

I used to think that Prince Hotel was a very good place. The location has a very good view, and in the past, it was powerful enough to be set up in a good place. However, everything else, including the building, Facility, and service, remains the same as in the past, and there is nothing I thought was good. Recently, new places are getting better and better, so Prince Hotel is outdated, which was very disappointing.
