    Very reliable!

The Metropolitan is a reliable place to stay in any prefecture, and the Room was consistently comfortable and reassuring. It was clean. I’m not expecting high-end dining, but I felt there was a decent variety. I’d be even happier if there were a few more local specialties.

Please provide the Japanese text you’d like me to translate.

I had been really looking forward to my stay, but first of all: when I asked to use a disabled parking space, I was told it wasn’t possible because buses park there. I was only told that—although there was space on the street, no alternative was suggested. Looking around, the cars parked on the street were Mercedes, BMWs, and Volkswagens; it felt like ordinary cars weren’t being guided there. (I suppose many hotels are like that.) However, it is true that a person with a disability was with me, so I asked again to park on the street and was reluctantly allowed to do so. At reception, whether they were just cool or simply cold, there was no explanation about amenities—though the guest next to me received one. Still unsettled, I went up to my Room. When I entered the Room, there was hair. I was asked whether I would prefer changing Rooms or changing the sheets. The response itself was polite and appreciated, but without even checking the situation they quickly proceeded as if they suspected we were trying to force a Room change on purpose, which made me uncomfortable. It would be more professional to apologize and clearly say something like “We will move you to a new Room.” Having worked in hotels myself, I understand that things like hair can happen. Between the parking issue and this incident, could you please show more empathy? This is Metropolitan near Yamagata Station—stays remain in travelers’ memories. Please do not damage Yamagata’s reputation.

    No Meals Included

If you’re traveling solo on a business trip by Shinkansen, I’d rate it 5 stars. If you’re driving with multiple people, I’d rate it 3 stars. First-time guests may find the parking location hard to understand. By chance, they let me park on the street due to my vehicle size, but if you’re coming by car, a suburban location is better than being near the station. Also, the Room is small. There were no issues at all with cleanliness or the staff’s service, so I recommend it for solo Shinkansen travelers.

I was satisfied with both the cleanliness of the room and the quality of the breakfast. I will stay here again.

It was clean, and the staff were very helpful.

I stayed here for business. Thank you for promptly addressing the issue with the bidet toilet seat—it was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was Western-style, clean, and enjoyable. I will stay again!

A conveniently located Hotel near the station

Stayed in a Standard Single (Non-Smoking) with Breakfast Included It’s close to the station, the station building is convenient to use, and the Hotel has a calm atmosphere. The service was neither particularly good nor bad. For breakfast, you can choose between a buffet or a Japanese set meal; I chose the buffet, but there weren’t many options, and many of the salad greens were wilted. With the Japanese set meal, I might have been able to enjoy something more typical of Yamagata. I could at least try imoni at the buffet. Considering how close it is to the station, it’s an easy-to-use Hotel.

This was my second stay. Since I was traveling with an elderly person, the direct access from the station was very convenient. All the staff were kind and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and I looked forward to it every morning. The Room was spacious enough and very clean. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

It was very convenient, with direct access to the station.

It was very convenient to be directly connected to the station, making it easy to get around with luggage. I arrived by Shinkansen and checked in right away. I could leave my luggage in the Room and head out. The guest Room was not too small, clean, and comfortable. The air conditioning (heating) was a bit too warm; even at the lowest temperature it still felt hot, and even after turning it off it remained slightly warm, but I think that’s better than being cold. Also, the pillow was small (Japanese size) and not ideal for relaxing in bed, but when I asked the front desk they brought an extra one. Thank you. Overall, it was a cozy stay without the cramped feeling of some newly built Hotels these days.

Great location and excellent meals, but I felt uneasy about the emergency contact support.

I have stayed here many times when visiting Yamagata, thanks to the convenience of being directly connected to the station and the excellent food. This time, I mistakenly made a Reservation for a smoking room instead of a non-smoking room, and I realized it only after midnight on the day of my stay. From around 12:30 a.m., my husband and I split up and tried calling for about an hour—nearly 100 times—but could not get through. We gave up, emailed to explain the situation, and went to bed. When I called again at 7:00 a.m., I got through immediately. There was availability in a non-smoking room, and you handled it without requiring me to redo the Reservation. Thank you. However, your reply to my inquiry email said that calls may be difficult to connect at night because only two staff members are working at the front desk. Since this is a large JR East group Hotel, it was very unsettling to find that the main phone line cannot be reached at night—I am concerned about whether it can be relied on as an emergency contact number.

    Conveniently located inside the station.

I stayed here for sightseeing to see the Zao snow monsters. After getting off the Shinkansen, I could leave my luggage right away, and there was no need to transfer or travel from the station to the Hotel, so it was completely stress-free. You can also watch the Shinkansen and local trains from the Hotel window, and I had a comfortable stay and was able to relax without any inconvenience.

I stayed at the Hotel to attend a concert at Yamagin Hall. I was very grateful to be able to use a complimentary waiting room for wearing a kimono. I am planning to attend another concert scheduled in April, and I would like to stay here again. Please allow me to consult with you again at that time. Thank you very much.

    The Room, bathroom, ...

The Room, bathroom, and bathtub were all spacious enough for a comfortable stay. I was especially impressed with the provided steam iron and ironing board (it was my first time seeing them provided)! The breakfast featured local ingredients, offering both Japanese-style meals and a buffet. The Japanese-style meals had a wide variety of dishes, and the buffet's meat products were particularly delicious.

    It was comfortable. ...

It was comfortable. The staff were all polite and kind. The rooms were a non-smoking double in the South Wing and a smoking deluxe single in the Main Building. Both had ample space, with spacious and comfortable bathrooms. Amenities were well-stocked. The double room had a large, easy-to-watch TV, while the bed in the deluxe single room was of standard semi-double width. The TV also offered several apps with free dramas and movies to enjoy. We opted for breakfast included with a buffet, which was delicious. Having direct access from the station was convenient as we had an elderly family member using a wheelchair.

    Triple Room

We stayed in a triple Room for three family members. The Room was spacious enough for three adults, but one bed was a small temporary bed and quite uncomfortable, which lowered our rating. The Japanese-style breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and was delicious. The free parking Plan was also very helpful.

A convenient Hotel directly connected to Yamagata Station

Stayed for two nights to enjoy the Yamagata Imoni Festival. Directly connected to Yamagata Station, making it very convenient. Stayed in a room in the South Tower of the new building, which was very clean. There is a New Days store right before the entrance on the first floor, where you can purchase alcohol like beer for in-room drinks. Unfortunately, there is no large public bath, but I was able to relax in the bathtub in my room. Having two chairs in the room was convenient. Breakfast options include Japanese cuisine at Mogamitei on the second floor or a Western buffet on the first floor. I tried both once and found them highly satisfying. A convenient and highly recommended hotel!

    Direct access to the station

Conveniently connected to the station, I returned for the delicious meals. Both Japanese and Western cuisine, as well as lunch and cakes, were excellent, offering quality beyond a Business Hotel. This time, I stayed in the South Tower; it was bright but the room felt slightly small. I look forward to visiting again.

Direct access from the station for your convenience!

The single Room was more spacious than expected, which was delightful. What I particularly liked was the table by the window! With the TV mounted on the wall, the table had plenty of space to use, unlike typical single Rooms where finding a place for luggage can be challenging. It was very convenient to use.

    South Tower Twin

I overlooked that the bed width in the South Tower Twin Room is only 90 cm and made the reservation. It seems this is because it is originally a double room, and when used as a twin, the beds are separated. It was my mistake for not noticing this before completing the reservation.

    I stay at accommodat...

I stay at accommodations for a total of 7 nights per month, both for personal and business purposes. As I always bathe in the morning and evening, I request an additional set of nightwear and one face towel during every stay. Usually, I make this request at check-in, but on this occasion, as I was in a hurry during check-in, I called the front desk directly late at night before going to bed. The first response from the woman who answered my call was: "You're staying alone, right?" I was taken aback by such an unexpected reply. When I offered to come down to the front desk myself to pick up the items, she responded that they would deliver them instead. After waiting for some time, a female staff member arrived with visible suspicion on her face as if doubting my intentions. To avoid any misunderstanding or further discomfort on either side, I had already opened my room door fully (including showing the bathroom) before she rang the bell. Let me emphasize: despite staying at accommodations 7 nights per month regularly and making similar requests elsewhere without issue—this is the first time I've ever been greeted with such a response! And it happened here at JR Metropolitan Yamagata Hotel—a property known as one of Yamagata's most prestigious hotels near its station under JR’s flagship hotel group! What shocked me even more was that after all this commotion late into midnight—the next morning upon checkout—the male staff showed no acknowledgment nor apology whatsoever regarding what transpired earlier! It felt like they dismissed me entirely or labeled me as causing trouble ("customer harassment"). While there were already minor concerns about room amenities/setup post-check-in along w/other service inconsistencies noticed throughout; ultimately interactions w/their team ruined not just impressions toward Metropolitan-Yamagata itself but also tainted overall experience visiting region altogether negatively. Rest assured—I’ll never return again!!

    Stayed at Metropolitan Yamagata.

I thought it was a countryside Hotel, but the hospitality was truly exceptional. From the service, guest rooms, and amenities to breakfast, everything was outstanding. In fact, it felt more attentive than some renowned Hotels in the city center, leaving a very positive impression. I look forward to staying again. Thank you!

Directly connected to Yamagata Station, offering great convenience.

Directly connected to JR Yamagata Station on the 1st and 2nd floors, you can access the hotel from the station gates or S-PAL shopping mall without getting wet even on rainy days, which is undoubtedly convenient. This is probably the biggest advantage when staying here. The room was clean, reasonably spacious, and comfortable; however, despite being a twin room, the combined bath, toilet, and sink design felt outdated. Being on a lower floor meant there wasn’t much of a view, but the large windows provided an open feel with some visibility of distant mountain ranges. Overall, it was a satisfying stay at this accommodation.

Hotel with kind and caring staff

The staff at the Hotel are excellent. During the breakfast buffet, they assist elderly couples who cannot get their own meals. Additionally, they go above and beyond by helping a lady unable to reach the station, even escorting her to the ticket gate. While it may seem excessive at first glance, their dedication to doing everything possible for their guests is truly admirable.

Directly connected to the station, very convenient.

The Hotel is directly connected to the station, making it very convenient for Shinkansen travelers. The Room is clean, and the service is pleasant. However, honestly speaking, I personally found the breakfast selection and quality a bit lacking. Other than that, I was very satisfied.

    It was very comfortable.

This was my first time staying in the South Wing, and it was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. As always, the front desk staff were very polite, and everything from check-in to check-out was excellent. I would love to stay here again when I visit Yamagata.
