    When to Contact Us

    The new wing was luxurious, and the Onsen was great. However, the meals were an issue. Regarding an ingredient I cannot eat—which I had asked about at the time of Reservation—I was told at check-in that they could not accommodate it. I wish they had informed me in advance; being told only after arrival was very frustrating. If you have any dietary restrictions or special requests, please be cautious.

    Affordable, retro Accommodation

    This is a wonderful Accommodation filled with various nostalgic items that evoke the Showa era. The meals are delicious, but younger guests may find the portions a bit small. I didn’t use the in-Room bath, but it is said to be an Onsen. The open-air bath and the large public bath are separated, but both are clean hinoki baths. Amenities are minimal, but it wasn’t a problem. It’s a great Accommodation that makes you want to come back.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

    We arrived a bit early, but we were kindly allowed to check into our Room ahead of time. Thank you for adjusting the meal time to accommodate our outing schedule. While there are stairs leading to the Onsen, which might be challenging for elderly guests, the temperature was perfect, and we were able to relax and refresh thoroughly. Thank you very much!

    Wedding Anniversary

    We enjoyed a relaxing stay as a couple at this accommodation filled with family memories. It is a warm and homey place; while the accommodation has become retro due to aging, the cuisine is absolutely exquisite. The onsen was abundant and very pleasant! Thank you very much.

    I stayed in the main...

    I stayed in the main accommodation building. The building has a charming atmosphere with a nostalgic Showa-era feel, which I personally liked. Upon closer inspection, there were cobwebs in the room and bath area, but I thought it might be inevitable given the age of the building.

    Unchanging Lacquer Bath

    Is this the third time? Perhaps because we’ve become an elderly couple, our memories of previous visits have faded, but being guided to a detached Room brought back fond memories. The Sanjo-no-Yu in the main building was warm, but this time Matsuhime-san's bath felt lukewarm. It was unfortunate that the sauna was closed. The open-air Shiratama-no-Yu was located right next to the Masago Room, so we fully enjoyed relaxation and rejuvenation with Urushi-yu and the open-air bath. The meals were outstanding! You can feel the passion of the 80-year-old head chef. Being on the first floor allowed us to enjoy a full view of the garden, making for a truly enriching experience.

    The Onsen is nice.

    We used the property for a family trip. Upon arrival, we felt a bit puzzled. However, the foreign woman who attended to us was very polite and efficient in her service. Perhaps because we visited during a less busy period, there were several concerns such as the lobby lights being off and the onsen sauna not being powered on. Nonetheless, the onsen itself was excellent, and we had a pleasant time. The room was spacious, and having onsen water in the room bath was a great perk! It was fantastic, although there were some issues like unexpected dirtiness. We were disappointed to learn after getting into the bath that it takes over 15 minutes of running water before hot water comes out. It would have been nice to know that in advance. The meals were... just average. The facility is lovely, and the staff's dedication is somewhat conveyed, but it felt like they were not keeping up with various aspects, including cleaning. It's a nice onsen, so please do your best to make us want to visit again.

    New Year's Onsen

    I always stay at Ichihan-an. The 2000-year-old cypress bath and the food are delicious. However, due to aging, the water leakage in the room bath was severe, and this time it only filled up to waist level. It seems that repairs will continue in the future. The dinner was very delicious and worth more than the price. It's more like a place that makes you feel like you've returned to the countryside rather than a luxury Stays.

    This year again,

    Stayed at Ichihouan in Mizuho with my daughter for two consecutive years on New Year's Day. Just the two of us in a room that can accommodate nearly 10 people. Thank you every year. There are no complaints about the onsen or the meals. Always satisfied. Thank you again this time. Next New Year's Day, since Ichihouan is too spacious, we will stay in a regular room in Mizuho. Looking forward to it again.

    After visiting Shose...

    After visiting Shosenkyo, we urgently searched for a place to stay. When I looked at the reviews, there was a mention of a hole in the room bath, making it unusable. The room we stayed in was exactly that room. Points I thought were bad: When we were shown to the room, we were told that the water wouldn't fill up, and indeed, the water level didn't even reach the seat inside, making it only suitable for a foot bath. The room was very spacious with a hallway, so the heating didn't work at all, and it was extremely cold. My husband kept saying it was cold, and the toilet didn't have a heated seat, so it was cold. I initially wore a yukata, but it was too cold to keep wearing it, so I spent the time in my regular clothes. In the large public bath, the shower had good pressure and was hot, which felt nice, and the quality of the spring was excellent, making the skin feel smooth. However, the smaller bath, labeled 38-40 degrees (with space for only one person), had water only up to the waist and was lukewarm, so I couldn't relax and got out quickly. The larger bath was supposed to be set at around 42 degrees, but when I put my foot in, it was as cold as a lukewarm water bath, so I immediately pulled my foot out and gave up on entering. I thought I might catch a cold. It's a shame because the spring quality is good. The open-air bath was hot and pleasant before dinner, but when I entered at night, it had cooled down and was cold. Points I thought were good: The staff was very pleasant, and from check-in to serving dinner and breakfast, and check-out, everything was done politely, with cheerful and enjoyable conversations, which was very nice. Both dinner and breakfast had a variety of carefully selected tableware, making it enjoyable visually as well. The dish themed on the Monkey and Crab Battle was cute. Everything was delicious and filling. Although I thought it was a shame that despite the delicious food and good spring quality, there were various drawbacks, it might be worth the price since it's a low-cost room meal. It might be better in a season when it's not cold. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I had the best time.

    The room, meals, bath, and service were all excellent. The room was spacious and clean, with a special bathtub in the private bath, and even onsen water. The meals were all delicious and wonderful kaiseki, with evident extra care in preparation. Our request for in-room dining was granted, making it exceptionally wonderful. Thank you to the staff for their attentive service. We look forward to visiting again next year.
